It's always been the case that people seem to fundamentally misunderstand diabetes and what it is. Certainly that's the case for type 1 diabetes, which I have. Nobody knows exactly what causes type 1 diabetes, and it is generally thought that there are a range of reasons for it to happen. What definitely does NOT cause it is over-consumption of sugar.

Day 1

The first day was as lovely and sunny as predicted. The in hand classes were in particular well attended, and the judges were impressed by the turnout. The junior handlers were all complimented on their presentation, and the young horses were generally surprisingly well behaved! So much so that the judges had a bit of a barney over who was going to place third, and in the end two horses were given a joint third place. There were only a few entries in the Bottom Hole Jumping, but the trail class was very popular.

She is genuinely a massive inspiration to me. It was her pictures that made me really want to start painting again, I think her characters are really well developed and her pictures all come with personality and look pretty enough that, one day, I will commission her to do a big watercolour on canvas for me. Except I don't think I'll ever have enough money to do that and pay her well enough for it. Seriously. I love her art.

So... Not on a monthly turn around any more :XD: The stables now runs on a very loose time scale - pretty much I'm trying to do real-time, but some of the horses are aging up a bit faster than normal. While foals are cute, I get bored of them too easily :giggle:

Training goals for this year
Petal's training focus has moved entirely onto show jumping. She may still be used for lower level cross country events.
As Q is 3 this year we are considering backing him early. I've been having a hunt for some HARPG shows, and there is nothing that interests me available at the moment D:

Does anybody know of any dressage, eventing or show jumping shows, preferably ending in October or November?

I've had a look through the show directory and none of them really appeal to me :( All too many rules or themed, and while I enjoy a costume show to be honest they're too much effort for my poor worn out brain at the moment.

Something low-level would be nice. It's operable, but he's having chemo and it's made him too ill to look after his horses. He's kept his favourite treasured few, but there'll be between 5 and 10 that he gives to Marion and Charlie (and now Jemima) to either look after and train or find homes for. Brighthelm Stables is a facility in the Downland of East Sussex, UK. Our facilities include stabled accomodation for 30 horses, an indoor school, an outdoor all weather rubber based school and a sand based arena with some seating for spectating. Mostly because I'm over-sensitive for 2 reasons: 1. I hate my job more with every day and yet I can't quit because I need the money for the mortgage and 2. I miss my boyfriend waaay too much.

Seriously. Only saw him on Sunday. Nearly burst into tears on Monday night because I missed him so much. To be fair to me, I didn't know when I'd see him next then. Feel a little better now though as he's coming down next weekend, but I always get a stupid paranoid feeling that I'll never see him again when we have to be apart.

Day starts with me being woken by water dripping on my face - I panic, realise something from the guy upstairs is leaking on me and run up. I've lost my passport. Which means I either can't go to Italy in October or I have to shell out £90 for a new one.
