October 11th is a couple of things. First, it is my older brother’s birthday. Secondly, it is National Coming Out Day. Now, you can probably guess where I’m going with this. (Not that the tricked out, flashing rainbow avatar gave any hints.) I am a lesbian, and it sure does feel great to write that.

I know some of you already know, and maybe some of you thought that yeah, maybe she’s a lesbian, but she never fessed up. Or maybe it never even crossed your mind at all. To the people that knew, months or even years ago, I wanted to formally thank you all for your support and just being there to talk, or in some cases defending me, which has left me speechless on a few occasions. I’m really shitty at talking about my feelings, and if any of you have seen me give a hug, it's one of those awkward, grimacing, stiff-armed, man-hug deals... so if I never thanked you for just treating me like you’ve always treated me, I am thanking you now.

If you weren’t told it is certainly not because I didn’t trust you, or thought you would react negatively; it was just because I wasn’t feeling brave enough that day. It took a semester of harassment and belittling from a teacher (an old harpy cretin of a woman...) She even handed out a religious chain letter in class that damned all of those that condone “sexual perversion,” and on two occasions used the word ‘dyke’ to refer to a lesbian that she had known.

Unfortunately the teacher is still employed at the college It was the first time I had been so openly discriminated against, and, I’m going to have to learn to live with that too.I wish for so many reasons that I’d come out much sooner. I was within a breath of saying something dozens of times, especially at Silver Bay. And I feel that I could have been more outgoing and confident if I had. This doesn’t just apply to my Surrealist- Clarke worshiping-Pagan-Communist-homies; it’s also directed to all of the 4-Hers and homeschoolers I’ve known over the years, and with whom I undeniably spent the majority of my childhood.

If you’ve read this much, I’m sure you’re wondering “Exactly how long is this bad boy?” but, don’t worry. I think I summed up a lot in a page and a half. So I'll leave you with this thought that came to me a few days ago.. I was typing up an essay, and I looked up at the taskbar (I was using that nice new version of Microsoft Word and up in the left hand corner there is a button labeled ‘Orientation’, and it kind of reminded me that some people think that homosexuality is a choice. As if it's just that easy. Click, drag and drop. Copy, paste, print layout. Publish.

I wasn't expecting to reach the triple digits; I could only put about 5 hours into hard-core birding, so for the time to species ratio, I think I did well. So ending the day with 37 (I'll list them at the bottom) wasn't too bad, but there was ONE species that I was sure I would see. A Great Egret. Yeah, they're common, but we only have them in this area in any kind of numbers during migration, so, now, basically. All three places I was expecting to see one, they were completely absent. I accepted it, and just went back to my normal life the next day, but wouldn't you know it, the very next day what do I see standing in a weedy pond on the side of a city road?
It was beautiful, and just when I had come to terms with it. Haha. birds are like that I guess. This is very similar to the view I got of the bird, though I didn't take the picture:

So, I guess my point is that we all really have to slow down, really notice things, and realize that sometimes you have to fight for what you want and be aggressive, but sometimes, that just doesn't work and you have to accept things and be patient. Right now, I am absolutely saturated with chemistry terms, general college anxieties, not to mention a 102 fever, but I think we all find something that can teach us things, right? So, that's why I watch birds, and that's why I write, and draw, and play kendo...

I failed, along with my senpai who was testing for nidan, (2nd degree.) The only advancement that was made was by a young man that was testing for the first time, and he didn't even get the rank he was hoping for.
HOWEVER, it was a very good test in a lot of ways, so I'm not bummed out anymore. I had three and a half hours to think about the whole thing on the ride home. So, I decided that I was thinking about this test, (or tests in general) the wrong way. I don't know how many people who'll read this (besides a few lol ) that have tested in martial arts before, but I never felt more ready for a test. I thought I had this one in the bag. Even after I fought my matches, I felt that I did nearly my best. At the very least, it was a relatively good example of my kendo. Relatively.

Technically, what I took away from this was that I didn't get a chance to show the right technique that they expect of shodan students. Frustratingly enough, I am usually very good at that particular technique, so I was very disappointed in myself when I failed to follow through with it twice. That was most likely the thing that failed me. Though I did score some excellent points, if I do say so myself.

In the end, I decided that the purpose of these tests is to see what level you are at, or are not at in this case. So there's no reason to be disappointed in the results because it doesn't change how hard you've practiced, what you know, what you can do, what you enjoy and hopefully, it won't make or break you as a martial artist. I was very lucky this time in receiving all the advice on how to practice over the next six months, and then some.
This is the first time I failed a test, I think it might have been for the best, because if I had passed, I wouldn't have thought about this so damn much.

Now this weekend, I have an Iaido test to freak out about! Hopefully it will go better than this one. xP

Since I started college I've encountered a few things that I didn't expect... Some other students don't seem bright... (This is an entry level course, just for me to get used to the whole classroom thing.. *coughHomeschoolcough*)

One person thought that the Underground Railroad was an actual train, and that Harriet Tubman was the first female engineer.... did your jaw drop too? Yeah, that's not even the start of it, but I won't go into it anymore.
My teacher... Ha ha... Oh God... She's very religious. Her actual beliefs don't matter to me, it's the fact that she brings them into the lesson that bothers me. She seems to be using this basic course to influence some very lost people... She may think she's helping, (though she has taken it upon herself to save me particularly) but she has said some very offensive and hurtful things; Gay rights, abortion along with other impolite politics, and she even gave me a letter...

Can you believe it yet? Wait... It gets better. Here are some quote from this CHAIN LETTER that she gave me. Only me. This is kind of what the journal is about.

The ' public facility' in reference is a High School Tennessee... The speaker is the school principal.

"Due to a recent ruling by the Supreme Court, I am told that saying a Prayer is a violation of Federal Case Law. As I understand the law at this time, I can use this public facility to approve of sexual perversion an call it an "Alternate lifestyle" and if someone is offended, that's OK."

The letters goes on to list GOD, HIMSELF, JESUS, FATHER a dozen more times in paragraphs that are only restating This last section. I have not changed any capitalization or punctuation.

I understand that some people a know on DA are Christan, and I don't want this to be taken the wrong way. I do admire true faith. There is nothing that will ever change that for me. What I do find weak and needy is when people try to get others to join the club... (BTW this isn't the one and only thing my teacher has one. This is the latest and easiest to quote..)

I basically wanted to see if this pissed people off as much as it pissed me off... I mean, damn! This woman's got balls!

She slept all curled up with my terrier at my feet last night. As cool as this little cat is, I really have to hand it to my dog. I expected him to have a problem with a cat sleeping in his bed. I guess not. xD

Her old name was Kiki, but I think we'll change it.. She was named after the cat that this family really wanted... She's got a new life now, not being abused by little snot-nosed brats.. Apparently, two homes ago (we don't know how many she had before she got kicked out) the children would zip her into a suitcase and toss it around for fun..

The Sports Section!
In our Shooting Sports Club, we may be receiving a visit from a local Olympian. Jimmy Butts (don't laugh.. xD ) is a gold medalist in Olympic Archery and he wants to come shoot with the kids and talk with them about shooting sports. Woo!

In the Kendo department, I'm testing for my 1st black belt in December. Unfortunately, the core kendo group is down to three people and we struggle to have a normal practice now. What it's coming down to is that we need to travel to NYC or out of state to practice.. Oi.. -.-
We have one (ONE!) really dedicated student, but we're losing him too in a way. This idiot has practiced 24/7 for the past 6 months and has not learned a single THING about Kendo. Not a thing. It's sort of sad because he could be a great kendoist, but unless he learns a few things, no one will ever have any kind of respect for him.

Yes. He is a jackass. ... And yes. I kicked his jackass.

"A Wrinkle in Time" is a story that still haunts me and I can easily say is one of the best fantasy books I will ever read. The rest of the Time Quartet is amazing as well, L'Engle goes from traveling through time and space to journeying on the cellular level. And if you haven't read the first, or the rest of them I highly recommend it, and maybe learning a little bit about this amazing author...

I worked my ass off at the NY state fair and got some really cool pics that I will upload when I have time. I was also attacked by a yak... o_o A

And we adopted two baby feeder mice. We over heard the owner of the pet shop (aka the death shop) that he was going to "throw them against the wall and feed them to the snake so he didn't had to transport them again." so we had to take them

Both pieces of my art ( Green Knight and Redtail Hawk that were exhibited at State Fair received an Award of Excellence, but they are cheep old bastards and only gave me one fancy ribbon for both and made us hang them side by side. Then my county educator broke the frame for "Green Knight" Glass everywhere and tons of cursing!
I've also had a lot of offers on the print of "Retail Hawk", so I'm going to try and start managing prints, (both locally and on Devart.) So, if you have any opinions on my gallery, (please, be honest) about what seems print worthy, just let me know.

I just watched "Never Cry Wolf," again, so I really want to draw wolves right now.

Meaning I had to lance a blocked and infected preening gland (Yucky. Really truly yucky) remove a constricting scale from a toe, hot pack all said chicken parts and apply and KEEP resin ointment on the chicken parts while dosing with Terramicine... holy hell.

I never want to see an avian foot again. -lies-

Aaaand the title story:

I also saved a baby bunny from three crows this morning. I was watching the birds behind a Starbucks, (like always) and i saw a crow pecking at something in the grass. Then, it reaches into a small hole and tears out a lone bunny. It got tossed about five feet, and then two other crows went after him. they were really tossing him around, so I'm amazed that he's not hurt at ALL.

I wasn't going to stop the crows at first, because there was nothing unnatural about it; no human involvement, but it felt weird just watching them kill it. I think you go to hell for that. lol jk

Little Bunny Starbucks spent the next few hours recovering in my bag while I sat in the doctor's office reading "Brave new world".

So now that my sleep schedule is fucked up, I'll update meh journal...
Camp was good, but really sad. It was my last year, and nine of the Bad Asses (I use the term affectionately) got kicked out a day early. That's one third of us.. and it was on account of making a run to Walmart at midnight for Raman noodles and pizza .. Walmart sucks. It is the cause of all of this.

I'll upload what I wrote while I was there, I am now on Facebook and I learned how to play Frisbee while I was there. *sniff*

There was an assassin bug there.. a big one. I'll upload the picture. But Emma just picked it up and put it outside. She is now my Lord and Savior.

It was great.. It was really great. I'm going to miss it so much. I wasn't going to cry when I left, but it I remember how I lost contact with people from previous years and how I wouldn't see the teachers again, or stay in Pain(e) Hall... Or hear Jason and Francis singing Blue Velvet.. I am sad.

Alright! So what nearly killed me today was this little bastard of an insect!! -Squirms and cringes- Kissing/assassin bug

Bugs don't usually freak me out. I don't know why this bothered me so much.

This is how it happened... it happened like this... I was sitting on the bed, eating some popcorn. I had a hard copy of my novel and was was doing some hardcore editing, see? And then I went to roll my sleeve up, 'cause I always wear those flannel shirts. You know, the lumberjack shirts.. those plad things.. Anyway, I felt something in my sleeve, and I unroll it a little bit, thinking: "Hrrm, how did I get some popcorn rolled up in my sleeve. " And then I absently pick up the offending object and take a look.

It has legs. Quite a few actually. And a neck. Bug should NEVER have necks. Never. It just too fucking creepy.

So this big, black bug turns it's NECK to look at me and we just sort of look at eachother for a second. I'm holding him like we're on the front of some harlequin romance novel, and all of a sudden we both freak. The bug (which i should add was the size of a small cat) goes flying, I scream and I still have not found my dignaty.

I'm usually the one getting the spider out of the shower, scaring away the stray dogs or throwing the oppossum out of the backporch. (Hehheh ) But my little sister had to remove this bug from the living room. -.-

I looked up what kind of bug it was, feeling kind of stupid for having been so freaked out, but i made it worse. Kissing bugs are BLOODSUCKERS. Ahhhhh!! It was in my room. Omg. .... Ok. I'm done. But i will be sleeping with one eye openand a can of Raid near my lamp... and maybe a shotgun of another fat assed assassin bug comes.

That's right. It is, and I will spend it hiking and kendoing off all of this crazy energy.
I've been rather hyperactive lately and I have diagnosed by family members as having ADD, ADHD, Restless Leg Syndrom and Polio... Not sure about that last one, I'm pretty sure my thigh just cramped up...

I named the new rat Gypsy. She is absalutely phycotic... She is the first rat that I have ever had to chase up the blinds... o__o

I have been doing some things with watercolor and I realized that I love it. They take a while for me, and I can't "finish" it right away, so I might not be uploading a ton of them, but I'll asure some higher quality paintings than I've done in the past seeing as I actually understand how to use it now.

Kendo tournament went well. At first. I was up at 3am to be in Brooklyn by 7:30. I couldn't sleep that night, so I'm still really exhausted. -.-

After we got there, we met up with the rest of our group and suddenly, we realize that one of our players is MISSING part of her armor. The strings to tie the hemlet on were GONE. So, in the end I share my helmet with her. This was hugely crazy because we were fighting in the same devision, anbd in theory, could have fought eachother.
Fortunately, (or unfortunately) I was knocked out in my first round and Assami in her second, but until then, we were running back and forth tossing my men to eachother. We got some odd looks, but I'm pretty sure people just thaught we were some poor, country-bumpkin dojo without enough bogu for four players.

That was the beginning of everything going wrong, but the rest were little things: We lined up wrong to fight our team match. The team we were suppossed to fight backed out, so we had to fight the A team of a large dojo. (Meaning they all were 4th blackbelt +)
We got slaughtered, but we knew that was coming. EXCEPT Kohei!
After we lost three of the four matches, it was already lost and Kohei was the last to go up.
He played games with their BEST PLAYER! It was amazing! It takes two points to win, and Kohei scored the first point within five seconds. After that we just beat on the guy without scoring the second point intil they called encho (went into overtime.) Until now, the other team had been laughing, (as Assami and I tossed the men back and forth) but they shut up and stared as their captain got his ass handed to him.

I really could keep going.. for a long time, but I'll sum up.

Kehei took third place in 3rd Dan+

I came within and inch of punching the head sensei in the groin.. Luckily he is a very layed back guy. x_____x -mortified-

AND I got a little rat! Spencer has been really depressed without a cagemate, (not bluiding nests, sleeping all day, picking up bad habbits..) so I got a little blue birkshire doe. (That's right Sam and Jul, xDDD How's yours doing? )

I haven't named her yet. I'll upload some baby pics when I upload kendo pics. That is all.

I'm in the final throes of writing Swain's Wing. Finished and edited, it's shaping up to be 250-300 pages, which is inarguably more than the 8 page short that I intened..

Even if this is not my great work, and the novel that I've dreamed about since I started writing at twelve, it is going to be the first large, finished piece since 'The Wolf Robes' last year. (Which was only 60 pages, I'll remind you.) When I wrap up Swain's Wing, (SW) I'll re-upload the edited chapters of SW, along with an edited draft of The Wolf Robes.

Let alone working on SW for the past... 5 months??? (I just counted.) I've been writing poetry like crazy, drawing and getting
ready for a Kendo tournament/test. I'm testing for my shodan/blackbelt in July, and I'm getting a little fweaked out.. But we are entering Team in the east coast kendo tournament, but we're one player short. This means that we have to forfit one round, but I was informed by Kohei that for the honor of our dojo, we have to go and fight, even if we have a crippled team. xD
Another one of the collage students who has been practicing with us, Asami, gave me a pink tenegui with little bunnies on it. She has one to, and has informed me that we both have to wear them during the fight for good luck.

Busy. I'm very busy. I've joined, (at virtual gunpoint) a Narnia discussion group. The guy who's 'leading' the talks, is a paster. Christian allagory plz!? I like the books for the story. AND I understand that they are very heavily influenced by Lewis's Christain upbringing, and I don't like them any less. BUT this guy is totally.. Um.. how can i say this... HE'S A MOUTH BREATHER AND HE CALLS 'WIKIPEADIA' 'WINKY-PEADIA'

I almost died when he said it. THREE TIMES. xDDD

Anyway. My Iaido instructor and my sempai are going to test for their blackbelts in Jodo. So send good exam thoughts to Canada! -crosses fingers- (If they pass, then I can pick up a third martial art. xDD )

I went to Iaido anyway, thinking, "I'm not dying, so one short class can't hurt" but I figured I'd at least be a little off for practice. Sensei said it's the best I've done in a long time. AND that he isn't going to have to work with us on our Sate no Kata much longer. (omhwtf Waaaa??) He says we've got it down. next, on to the higher levels!! -coughchoke- xc

I've had an interesting few days.. But for the sake of comedy, I'll just throw some random images from today at you:

I was typing up Chapter Twenty of Swain's Wing, and my dog hit me in the face with a dead deer mouse. 0___0 ... A big one.

I got a picture of a perigrine falcon, but it was flying WAY too fast, and it was just a gray smudge.

One of our bantam chickens was sitting on golf balls in the nestbox.

I saw a guy get hit by a car. x_o

I SAW A LADY WHO HAD A HOOK. YARG. She was scary, but after I said, "Omg that is so AWESOME!" she was really nice.

My rat thinks it's funny to get out of her cage and sleep in bed with me. (Oh God that scared me. )

Last but not least, my friend's father had to go to the hospital because he had a bloodclot in his arm FOR ALMOST A WEEK. He is color blind, and couldn't see that his arm was PURPLE.

I hope some of that made you laugh, or, at least make some kinda wierd face. xDDD

I've been like, half sick for five months. D:
I don't know what the hell is wrong with me, but hopefully I'll know soon. They took my blood. I'm taking bets on mano, lymes or zombieitis...

On another note, we had a bald eagle couple move in just down the river! I'm a geek so I lost control of my bladder when I saw the nest not five miles from my street. xDDD
A pair of light morph red tails also started fixing up a nest just a little ways away from that! When we drive by, I can see the hen in the nest, her little white head peeping out. <333
She's HUGE.. but... Ahem... Not geeky.

I want to shoot... but a Noreaster is coming in and we can't drive to the gun club. >'C My magnetic darts will have to do for now... -flicks crappy dart-

I came into my room with my bogu, and said, "Hey ratties!" Like usual, but she didn't come out to see me.

She took a bad turn the on Saint Patrick's Day, and I had her with me all day. I figured that she wouldn't last the night, but she prooved me very wrong.. I'm just thankful she held out until the ground thawed so I could burry her properly.
Yeah, so now I need to make sure her roommate isn't too lonely. I had a rat die of depression one time after his buddy kicked the bucket..

I've said it before, but I'll say it again. I will never get another pair of rats.. It's TOO sad. I was prepared. I knew it was coming. I wasn't going to get upset, but guess what?

I'm not looking for huggy emoticans and stuff. I just thought I'd update the situation. I watched a funny movie, and I'm sort of ok now. ._.

Ok, at Kendo today, the maid who comes and cleans THREW OUT MY YUMMY LUNCH OF SOYNUTS!!! OMG 0___________0 THEY WERE HONEY ROASTED PEOPLE!!!

I was preoccupied and fuming throughout Gikieko, (sparring) so I got the crap beat out of me.. I even got hit with a wayward suki and had my freakin' throat impacted. x.x

ANYWHOOO.

My new Iaito bites... (I don't mean it sucks, but it actually bites.. like Tom Cruise when they take his stepstool away. ) Today was the first class that I didn't draw blood. Not even the normal, "POKE. 'Ouch, I'm bleeding a teeny-weeny bit,'" but more like. "SLICE.'AHHH... Oh my God.. oh my God, someone untie their sageo and make a turnicate..'"

Um.. Hrmm. I don't feel that I've been as random as I promised.. So how about our chicken going under the knife for plastic surgery? She had a beast reduction and a nose job. Jk jk. xDDD

She had a small tumor on her face, and the vet just took off. She's 110% better and beating the shnot out of the flock again. Just like old times. ^^

I'm about 70% sure that my snake is pregnant. "I thought it was a 'he'?" You ask? Ha ha ha! I hope not, cause either way; he's brewing some wee little ones...

Oh! Did you know that garter snakes are venomous? I guess it's such a low toxicity, that it would only effect pinky mice, worm and stuff like that, so it's not at all dangerous to humens, but still... I have a venomous snake.

Woke up at 3am, got to the city at nine, practiced untill 3pm, tested, was SUPPOSED to be back home by nine, got pulled over by a state trooper and my dojo mate's car was towed and the cop left us standing on the side of the FUCKING thruway, in the cold, holding all of our equipment and IT'S 11: Fucking 30 by that time.

Oh, and we hit a huge rat in New Jersey.. I don't have to make a NJ joke, now, do I? But, I think my teacher needs to wash the car.. x.x

I passed my test, as did all but one of my associates. Apparently Yondan is the hard one to pass.. We've started respctfully calling it, 'The Wall.' But anyway, it was a really good test and I passed Ikyu with no issues.

Wait! I had one issue! One of the sensei grabed me, JUST as I was going up before the judges, and in front of them, rolled the sleeves of my gi down. I looked like I was wearing a bathrobe. xD ... Nobody said anything for three years, and all of a sudden they care about my sleeves? ..

Come July, I will be testing for my Shodan.. tomorrow the world! .. ?

My senior student wasn't there for the first hour, so I was supossed to teach class. Yeah. Heh, THERE WAS NO KEY TO GET IN.

Some freaking dancer locked up the day before and took the key to the classroom. So we broke in. >3 Or rather, we popped the glass out of the lobby window and shoved our token small English boy through to try and unlock the door. Guess what? it does't unlock from the other sdie either. I told them it wouldn't, but for some reason men never ever listen. (Sorry guys.)

So we give up and practice kata on the sidewalk, effectively freaking out a whole bunch of people. (FYI it was REALLY cold today.)

Eventually the ONE MAN with the spare key comes and lets us in, in time for a short practice, (but not before we caught the eye of two random people who came inside and joined in class. ^^)

THEN, (I know. I JUST KEEPS GOING! Nifty, huh?) I was getting my uniform on as fast as humanly possible, and I see a freakin' peregrine falcon sitting on the window ledge watching me change. o.o Oh the perv!

Apparently Al is a blue morph. (I freaked out whe I saw he was blue in places. I thought he was a mutant.. I know snakes alright, but I've never seen a blue one. o.O ) I found a pic if you'd like to see what that looks like.

He's not that clear cut. He's got yellow, green and blue in his stripes and little blue patches on his face.

Well, I have been drawing these buggers, but they're mostly doodles, and I haven't bothered scanning them. So, I'll try and give this another shot. This is AWESOME is you're blocked. It's helped me countless times over the past year.

My sister just got a brand new bow. A shiny red Genesis. A compound.. you know, with all the wheels and pullies and cams and cables and bleh. I don't think you're really shooting if you have a 80% let off on the bow so you're holding back like two pounds.

I'm not a compound person. Give me a stick and a piece of small intestine and I'll make a bow.
