What am I? Who am I? Where did I come from? These are some of the questions that we ask ourselves at least once in our life. What am I, well that is easy to answer. I am of the genus or species known as Homo sapien. Whenever I hear someone say what am I, I always tell them “Cogito, ergo sum,” which is a Latin phrase that states, “I think therefore I am.” Now that we have established “What I am,” Let us find out who I am and where I came from.

I was born and raised in the beautiful sunny state of California. Within the first four years of my life, my parents got divorced. This made my life growing up a bit harder growing up without a stable home. We moved to Big Bear Lake, California my second year of school. Big Bear Lake is a wonderful place full of life and love. In the morning as the sun awakes from it’s craddle, the trees illuminate a golden glow that can sooth any soul. While living in Big Bear Lake, I developed a new found respect for our environment and why if we don’t keep our planet alive life will cease to exist.

From living in the lush forests of Big Bear Lake and being a rebellious member of society, I was forced to move away from my home into a desert full of hatred. Many times I contemplated my own demise but knew that one day I would be reunited with my home full of life.
As I sat in a dry unforgettable spot of land, I began to devise a plan to leave the desert. Without a single, a single thought, I joined the United States Army. I had my choice of almost any job, so I choose to be a mechanic. So Uncle Sam sent me a one way ticket into the hot moist sand filled state of South Carolina. From there, I was given a number, a rifle, and a new look.

Now that I became a dog of the military, they decided to ship me away to the foreign soils of South Korea. I was stationed roughly thirteen miles from the demilitarized zone. While in South Korea I was part of the punk uprising and now proudly carry the title of So.Ko. Punk. I had lost my dream of returning to the place I know as home. I had been diagnosed with a personality disorder and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. I took the next flight back to the states.

As I awoke from what I thought was a nightmare, I realized I still had not met my goal of returning home. I had reached the same place that I escaped from in first place. Now I continue to on my mission to return home.
