Finished making the complete mold for the doors of the gate.
I really like the idea of it having a carved stone appearance so
I'm going to try to cast them in plaster.
And yes, I have never done a plaster cast so I can't wait to see what will happen.
If anyone has any recommendations of types of plaster to use I'd love to hear about it.
I know I will have to do a bit of chiseling and carving
after I cast it due to the mold not being perfect
but at least I have a well established design.
And it's square which makes me very happy!

I cast the first new panel from the mold that I had made yesterday.
I must say I was impressed with how well it actually came out
with it being so tiny and detailed.
There were a few little areas that I had to sand
and punch through the resin. It wasn't bad at all though.
Now I'm working on the other three panels and then off to
sculpting door frames and a couple of swords!

I kind of left out the messy parts of mixing up the silicone and pouring it in.
It's just to difficult to stop and take pictures when your making a big mess.
The first pic is after I built the clay walls and I brushed on a coat of sealer to both the walls and sculpt.
The next photo is the silicone poured in and the bottles of the product that I used.
So far I'm liking this product so I hope it works just as well as the first test I did.

Winter has been long and cold but the birds are starting to sing
so that makes me a happy person!
I've had the week off and it's given me time to work on a few things
that I have been itching to get to.
Of course, there are plenty of things to do around the house;
got the deck washed and the pond cleaned so far.
Now it's time to get back to that sculpt
that I have been working on for a half of a century. Woo hoo!

It is a constant struggle, wanting to improve artistically;

At the beginning of last week I received the clay I ordered through the mail.
Much to my surprise it wasn't what I had expected. The clay I decided to try is called Clayette by Chevant.
I had heard it was one of the best clay's to work with, not sticky (Not to sure about that)
and came in 3 different hardness's.  I received the hard form and soft.
I found myself working with the hard. And really it's not as hard as I would have thought.
So I've been trying to leave it in the fridge to harden it a bit but I just found the freezer to be even better.

Plenty of terra cotta tiles! I've been using my little tool that is supposed to be used to pry open lobster with.

Since it's summer here,
I've been attempting to soak in as much sun as I possibly can.
Our summer has been so hot and humid yet I love it.
I could not ask for more, other than may be more time to be out in it.
Icky, sticky and hot... YES! It's summer and it actually feels like it in good old PA!

I've been gardening up a storm this year. I have a plethora of beets;
so many my skin may turn a beautiful shade of red soon.

Metal, foil and clay so far... Pretty darn unattractive but thought I'd share the progress of it. I enjoy seeing how things fall together; I'm sure others do also.
At the beginning of this year, this sculpture was a priority to me. It still is, but art wise I have a wild mix of things going on right now.
And I have, as always, put my priorities on hold... something I do not like to do.

Due to my crazy schedule I haven't had the time to purchase one myself.

I have a place in France picked for the whole feel of the sculpture. It's near the Mediterranean coast and is quite medieval in appearance. I can't wait to get started on it. There will be a lot of stone, wood and iron... all my favorite textures. My webcam pic may give it away!

I believe my job drains my creativity...yes it sucks it dry.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get it back?
I'd sure like to know. I think so far at my best attempt it's been listening to music. But I'd love to know if anyone has another method.
I only have so many hours to work on stirring it up before I go to bed so it's got to be quick!!;)
