It's been a while since I've actually updated anything here. Hmm... well, I'm in my second year of college now, Taking Intro to Drawing, Advanced Poetry, Fiction, Aikido 2, and Japanese 201; I've got an awesome girlfriend, and I'm hoping to get in to University of Hawaii at the Manoa campus to major in East Asian Language. Not sure which one yet, but it will probably end up Japanese, since I have the most experience with it.

The only real bummer in my life right now is that, thanks to a relatively new pre-req. system at PCC, I have to take math 20 next term. Well, it's either that, or take the math placement test again, but in order to do that I need my State ID, and I can't find my wallet anywhere. Hopefully it will turn up somewhere in my room or the laundry, because it's not really worth another trip(2ND THIS YEAR!) to the DMV.

I wouldn't be surprised if pretty much nobody reads this journal, but on the off chance you do, I'm much more active on my facebook, [link]
Granted, I don't really post any art or poetry there, and you're likely to get a feed full of Farmville, Quizzes, and various other annoying applications(except mafia wars, don't worry), but feel free to add me if you want to.

Well, nonverbal communication was a no go. As was Mandarin level 2. Not enough people signed up for school to fund the classes. Aikido has been fun, and Poetry class has been forcing me to write more often, fortunately . It turns out East Asian history will only cover Japan and China, since it's only one class a week, and we don't have enough time to cover other nations like Corea, Vietnam, Thailand, etc. Overall it's been fun though. Hard and all, but I've been doing okay(I had to memorize a map of chinese provinces. I scored 92/93 points on it). In place on nonverbal communication I'm taking environmental ethics, which has gotten fairly interesting so far.

I won't be taking the summer term, since all the good teachers take summer off, and leave only the boring classes =/ But I plan on taking Writing 245(higher level poetry class), a fiction class, maybe a history class if they split up East Asia history into China and Japan(thats what they're talking about doing), another philosophy class(those things are addicting), Aikido level 2, and I'm debating learning either Corean, Mandarin 2(if I'm lucky), or Tagalog.

Well, it's been a while. Figured I may as well update this with something. This term I took a basic writing class, History of India(A class which I'm currently cramming all that I can for the final), Mandarin Chinese, World Religions, and Philosophy of Ethics. All in all, it was pretty fun, but the classes were fairly difficult. I'm taking next term easier, with Chinese II, Aikido, History of East Asia, a Creative Writing class to try and get back in my groove, and non-verbal communication.

Finally, out of high school. At least, thats what I thought as I came to my college. Turns out I test into "Basic algebra"(Pre algebra - WTF?!) and Reading 115(about as effective a class as a thesaurus. Seriously. I'm so serious I'm adding periods in my parenthesis.). I know most of the content that we're learning in Japanese 201(their highest leveled Japanese class, and it marks my 6th year of study). On top of that, they have a max of 19 possible credit hours you can take any given term. I was going to take Russian, but it would've put me at 20 credit hours. So you may be wondering if this is as much a rant as it is a wall of text? There's some good news.
No, I didn't save anything on car insurance, I don't even have a car. The good news is that my writing class is fun. While it is a standard writing class, It still gives me more writing practice, meaning (hopefully) you'll all be hearing more from me. especially since I only have classes 2 days of the week.

Well that trip was nicer than I expected. Japan isn't as xenophobic as people make it out to be. I think I might go on this trip again next year, but I'll be bringing more money. I brought 560$ worth of yen, and I came back with 3.50$ worth. If anyone interested in Japan at all gets the chance to do a homestay there, I recommend it. Watch out for the jet lag though.

I leave in three days and will be there for, of course, two weeks, returning on the 3rd of July. I'll try and come back with some writing, but the schedule is packed.
It hasn't been long since I last talked about this, but, as you all know(if you read the last journal), I'm currently taking Mandarin at my local community College, PCC. During one of the classes the teacher asked me if I would be taking Mandarin II with her at the campus next term, so that means next term I'll be able to take the class(as opposed to how it is this term, with the class only being offered at the campus's(campii?)that are a bit too far away. On a similar note, if PCC still offers Tagalog next term at the local center, I'll be taking it.

As a linguist in training(As I like to call, LIT), One must know at least a few languages. For a little bit of background, I am trying to learn Asian languages. A broad range, in fact. Currently I am a student of Japanese and Mandarin Chinese in Community College, and of course, English. I was also supposed to be taking beginning Arabic, but not enough people signed up, so the class was canceled. The range of languages I wish to learn are broad, Ranging from Korean to Thai to Arabic. Pretty much Eastern, South-Eastern, and Western Asian languages.
So, to present, I have just returned from my first Mandarin class. It was very fun, and pretty funny as well. The teacher made us repeat her as she told us the basics of the Pinyin. We all sounded pretty damn funny. There was a broad range of people attending the class, some having been in China for a while.
