Just a minor update pertaining to my absence here on dA...

I decided to head back to Pratt for more punishment, which is why I haven't been around here much since September. Day by day I've been slowly making my way down the circles of Hell... But there is light ahead.

Semester ends in about a week or two, after which I expect massive amounts of sleep will be in order. Following that, we'll see. If I stick around in NY, chances are I'll be uploading new work. If I leave for Greece or India, well... we'll see.

It's been a couple months since the prior entry, and I figured my imaginary fans and the couple real ones deserved an update.

As is usually the case with me, I'm currently working on several pieces. I tend to spend massive amounts of time on each piece and I often have to step back and return to a piece later. Right now I have about six five four pieces I'm working at on and off and I hope to have them up by the end of June. That includes pieces from the deity series, vector illustrations, and a few other ideas I have in the back of my head.

With any luck I'll be heading to Greece around the beginning of July, where I'll remain until the end of August or so. I look forward to coming back with a lot of photographs this time around.

On the topic, something else that you might see in the future is a whole lot of photos in my gallery. I'm in the process of scanning a lot of my old ones and I'll be submitting the best of them here. Photography has always interested me but it's more of a hobby for me. I've been told I have a good eye for composition, but I guess you'll be the judge of that come time.

Another thing I'm working on is my presence on dA. I've slowly been getting my profile in order, and hope to have my format for my journal, ID, etc. all done in some way soon. I had hoped to win a sub from some of the contests, but since that doesn't seem like it'll pan out soon I went ahead and dropped some cash for it on my own. It wasn't as much a matter of money as it was motivation for me to submit work, but I'll keep trying and see what happens.

Lastly, I had the pleasure of meeting a few other deviants from NYC in person at a meet yesterday. It had a decent turn-out all things considered, and the individuals who came were both talented and interesting. With any luck this will turn into a regular event, and I definitely look forward to attending when I return to NY again. If anyone is interested, get in touch *dc2610 who organized things this time around and will likely do so in the future.

I first caught wind of dA about four to five years ago, when it was still developing a reputation among artists. Since then I have lurked in the background, usually visiting once every month or two to see what sort of work was being done at the time. As I'm sure is the case for many, I would often visit when my own inspiration was MIA, in search of something that would ignite my creative fuels. And more often than not, I found it.

Truth be told, seeing some of the work here can be pretty intimidating. There's an incredible amount of talent featured in every category of dA and seeing this tends to make one examine their own worth. You might say, "Yes, but this should only push you to improve yourself!" And I might respond, "Feck off."

Regardless, I've finally decided to step out of the shadows and share some of my own work. It wasn't an easy decision, but I've come to realize that at this point in my life I need some outside critique more than I need a pristine ego. So the plan is this...

I'll start by submitting as much of my old work as I can find, and then proceed to add new pieces as they come. Some of the old stuff is really not pretty on the eyes, but I think it should be interesting (at least for me) to see a linear progression and (hopefully) improvement of my skill.

Bear with me as I begin this journey, and if given the time and inclination, please try to comment honestly on whatever catches your eye.
