...lots of you have a built in lens, a kit lens - most are f/3.5-f/5.6...F/2? WTF? some of you have never *seen* that...

...you've never seen what i see - not because you can't, but because of what you have...

...my kiev is stocked with f/2.8 lenses made in the former e. germany - my nikon has *old* lenses ranging from f/1.8 - f/2.5...

...my fellow film nazi +cweeks has a gorgeous leica f/1.0 lens - as far as i know the fastest lens ever made...

...these wide open apertures make what we do well....what we do...

...i haven't stopped down a lens beyond wide-open in over a year...

...ah, a quiet week - some processing of my shoot with ~tessina1 yeah, that her over on the left - there's not many people like her on the planet - i feel stoopidly lucky to have her in my life...

...after a couple big group shoots, full of uncertain lighting and such where *everything* got pushed a stop in xtol, i got to return to a favorite combo of fp4+ and rodinal...

...do you digital kids know what you're missing? eh, no, don't look at me - look at *real* photogs - +cweeks is a nice place to start - or classicists such as [link] or [link] ...

...i'm sure there's yet to be seen masterworks in b&w digital - of course - art happens in all mediums - hell i've seen art in vaginal blood on rice paper - would i dispute that it happens *everywhere*? course not...

...how about we figure out where we've come from?

...i guess the title is my strange way of thanking that evil bastard +cweeks for the daily deviation - he seems to enjoy such non-sequiturs - blurted that in a conversation this week, and it gave me a chuckle anyhoo...

...he's cornering the market in out-of-production agfa apx 25 b&w film, and i think he's trying to make it up to me - evil, evil, bastard...

...a couple people i know *know* that i'm not about pageviews - not even about being viewed that much - just one person looks, sees, is touched in some cases - that's all i need...

...a couple other people also know that i'm here just a *little* bit to evangelize film and chemicals - so look at the black and white, dummies...

...few know how little i look at other photogs though - i picked up photography a couple years ago during a musical drought - and my first worry was doing derivative work, so i generally avoid looking too much - i'll make my own mistakes...

...that said there are a few i really *must* watch - known and too little known - +cweeks (big suprise, huh?), `mnoo , *kentsoul , *kathrynstar , *asoka-00 , =iamkatia - all share an emotional honesty in their photos that, even as a alt-glam photographer, i hope to one day acheive as they have...

...so there's surely a bunch of folks that - as ever - disagree that the dd was deserved, and frankly, i don't dispute that in the least - but before you click away from my page in disgust - go see *them*...they've earned such attention...
