This community is dedicated to the Guardians of Destiny collab. It's open to anyone on DA willing to take part in this brand new worl'd creation!

NEWS: the DEADLINE
May I have your attention please! I gave some time to current project to get off, but it was mentioned that all the Guardians reference sheets have to be completed before 2006, and so it will be. If you still don't have an approximative reference for your character after the 1st of Jan 06, the domain you own will be no longer yours, it will return to the list and would be give to the first one who asks for it.
I remind you that a reference sheet MUST contain AT LEAST one full-body view and at least flat colors.
As soon as you've defined your characters we could start working on some more elaborate pictures involving them :nod:

What are the Guardians?
An ancient race of divine creatures, each one of whom is responcable for a part of nature, existance, phisical or spiritual part of this world.

To join:
Drop a note to the community, and don't forget to mention if you do have a Guardian or any related character.

To submit a deviation:
- You have to be at least a "Worshiper" to be able to post.
- Note ~g-o-d with the folowing information:

What pictures will be submited:
- Pictures featuring the Guardians of fate characters, the Fate Clans members, the environements of the Guardians' worlds are welcome.

The Guardians of fate mab be divided in several cathegories, all closely related, still occupying a different place in the Circle.

The Circle
The Circle groups the Guardians, with the Bound: the mental, physical, psychological link that keeps them all together as long as they exist. Thus they are all dependent on each other, and won't be able to prevent their world from falling apart, if separated.

The Creators
Light, Darkness, Time, Space, Life, Death, Mind, Harmony

Those are the ones who came into the world when it didn't yet exist, they made the Mortals, and everything that exists.
Most of them go in pairs, like the twins darkness and Light, like brothers Life and Death, Time and Space. They are opposite but closely related. Mind stands apart, for various reasons. Harmony is in the center of the cirle, it groups the powers of all the other ones.

Mental domains
Are attached to the Guardian of mind, like his youger brothers and sisters. They came into the world, when the human race already existed and chose to create a domain related to intelligence, thoughts and feelings and gift them to the newborn human race.

Elemental domains
Appeared mostly like the mental ones, but they gifted nature with their creations. Each of the guardians may be related to several Creators like Fire goes with light and life, dimension - with time and space, Earth - with life, Stars - with light and Space ect. It's up to you to find links between elements and Guardians.

Clans of Fate
The creator Guardians have each ones their clans: Time-spinners, Light-keepers, Dark ones, Life-bringers, Death-givers, Space-shifters, Mentalists. Those clans consist on mortals gifted with powers of their Guardian's domain.

Guardians of fate: what they are

:star:The Clans structure:
Each and every of the main guardians has created his own subrace of mortals, who are human, but posess some powers gifted by the Guardian to them. These are the Clans of Fate.
The clan members, left without their Gaurdians to develop on their own, grew although fairly different from their masters.
These mortals live in a modern society, and have almost lost the knowledge of the ancient times, through generations. Each Clan has followed it's own path and has a certain place in the Human society:

:star:Appearence guidelines:
Unlike the Guardians, most of the clans get along with modern society, use technology, ect, so have to look approprietly. They still have the skin color, face features, hair color and aspect very close to their Guardian's one (be careful about that). Their suits are adapted to their environements (see scrolling the page down) and their status, their abilities and function.

:star:The Light Keepers is a well-developed hi-tech civilisation, respecting their laws and that if other cultures. Their environement is that of well-preserved nature coexisting with plastic and glass, sophisticated technology. Their skin is pale blue, their yeys are bright-blue shining like the star of their main system - Eliana. Their clothes are made of plastic and soft elastic fabric and some metallic/cerimic parts. Some of them have paralising weapons, webs, energy shields in order to protect them.The members of their society can be classifyed as folowing:

Worker
healer
Defender
Captain
Ancient
Their characteristica powers are: healing and self-healing, emotionnal telepathy, levitation, light energy spells.

:star:The Dark Ones: well developed, in secret, hidden from the majority of the humans. They master the new technologies but more in a biomecanical way, adding the remains of ancient magic to their makings. They are an agressive and dominative race, unwilling to share the world with humans. They have dark violet hair, often partly colored in reds and oranges. Face and body markings over their pale skin they get when they become knights. They mostly wear black, or dark (duh) with silver-metallic equipement. They carry heavy wepons, mostly different kinds of swords (one or two hands, double bladed, daggers, ect)Their classes are:

Initiate - feels the darkness, can't use it.
Apprentice - middle stage, before:
Warrier - can use Darkness for fight and distruction, cast dark spells
Knight - drains his own energy and powrs from darkness.
Master - can affect unliving and living things, instore darkness into them.
Priest - can affect large parts of the galaxy, and even destroy light.

They do engage humas as workers, and for other basic tasks. Their main powers are: life energy-draining, mind-distroying telepathy, rage spells.

:star:The time-spinners:
Are considered as extimct though some rumors say that some remained and try to regain the mastery of time they once had. They wear complex jewelry, talismans, precious stones, theyr clothes are decorated with ornaments and patterns. And of course they're equiped with various sorts of clock/watches, mecanic or electronic, sand or solar.

Initiate: can read in time
Scroller: can travel back in time to what has happened, but can't change it.
Prophet: can see the future
Master: can travel into the future and act, folowing his free will.

Well, amtes, we're coming to the end of the journey, for by the end of this month all the Guardians references must be completed. But it's not too late to join us and request a domain!

:star:The General Rules of the Project:star:
> Everyone can enter =)
> There is no deadline for finishing your stuff, but I'd like everyone to post their pictures before 2006. Otherwise it doesn't make sense.
> You can pick only one Guardian Character at the same time, but you can do several ones successively!
> The same domain can not be taken by several people, and one single appearence will be chosen for each one, Guardians are unique. BUT I can make exeptions for the Creator (the 8 main) Guardians, in order to come up with the best design possible for them.
> You can not only design Guardians, but also their clan-members, but ONLY AFTER that The guradian of the clan x or y is already created. (example: Harmony and Darkness Guardians are already designed, so you can go through their clans.)
> Several people can design the same clan members, because there are many of them and of course all - Dark knights - for example do not look the same way.

:star:If you want to create A Guardian yourself:

0°) READ through the stuff, consider the universe and personalities you would be dealing with, and having done that:

1°) Pick a domain, a Name and a surname (exaple: Darkness - Morrlan - The Black halo) and
NOTE =MoonLightSpectre so that I could reserve it all for you. If you just post a comment it won't count because I will get lost in thise! As soon as you've got your approval:

2°) Make a character sheet. Can be fully or flat-colored (with color charts) and show at least one full-view of the character (example: full body from the front, and half-body from the back)
But of course the more detailed and colored it is - the better it's for all!

3°) Post it and Note me to show the piccy ^_^
And I'll put it on a page of my Journal (or probably web site) dedicated to this series. I'll be of course happy to see some sketches of yours, but I won't be posting them, please finish your work ^_^
Note that: I have a right to refuse the picture, in a case if it doesn't fit my describtion at all, hope you understand :nod:
If I really like how it looks like, I'll be using your design in my pictures (all credit for the character goes to you of course.)

:fuzzydemon: The story behind the characters:

If I can find time to write it properly, in a develloped and a more poetical way, with some action, I'll post it as a deviation. For the moment it's just a story I had in mind fro ages and that's where my characters come from...

Chapter 1: Ancient times.

The 9 guardians existed before the world happend to be craeted, but they made an oath to forget what has been before. The 8 domains of nature are: Darkness, Light, Death, Life, Conflict, Time, Mind, Space, Harmony.
Each and every one of them has his own powers attached to his domain, that noone else can use, expept for the Guardian of Harmony, who has the power to reign on any domain, Azrael is the concentration of ultimate power but he has sworn to use it only in order to protect the integrity of their worl, the balance between it's parts.
Guardians are immortal spirits, but wear physical bodies that can die. Only the Guardain of Death has the power to set a new body for a spirit, if it's immortal.
Each Guardian has his own clan: a small population concentrated on one single world (star system) gifted with some powers of it's master, but still mortal. Azrael, as the Guardian of Harmony, has created the Human race: creatures that do not posess any of the divine powers, but has a will of their own, free will.
Thus the cosmic order was set for the whole universe in all it's endlessness.

Chapter II: The Fate's exile

Time, set to be ever moving on, has passed and the worl got more complex. The clans prospered, but humans weren't content with their lack of dominion, and slowly they turned away from ancient beliefs and occupations, and focused on working out their own way of magic: technology they called it.
For several thousands of universal years this balance still subsisted. But the Guardians realised something was going out of control and this world wasn't quite theirs, it has got a life, mind and spirit of his own. It was a short time of internal conflict: The guardian of time refused to turn the cource of events back and change what happened, some were glad that their creation has developed itself, others were not. Finally, it was decided to let their people choose their fate themselves. And of course the humans chose independance. The Guardians decided to leave this world up to itself and observe if it can survive on it's own. Thus they leaft their mortal bodies, spirits subsisting in a dreamless sleep in some invisible realms of existance.

Chapter III: Awakenning

Life and time went on. Ancient legends were forgotten, the clans became secret and slowly lost their knowledge and power over the humans. But the human race spread it's wings all over the universe, : they learned to travel between the worlds without using the Space portals left by the Guardian of Space. Millenias later, noone believed in the Fate and it's servers.
Minor wars occured between different populations of humans, but piece was still there.
Until an opposition between the clan of Light and that of darkness took place. These are two opposited, though the Guardians of Lighta nd of Darkness are twins. Some humans joinde the light knights to fight the "universal evil", others were on the other side, seeking profit and power. The harmony of the wold was threatened...and therefore Azrael awaken from his sleep and his spirit found a mortal body for physical existance, for he posessed the power of ressurection of the Guardian of Death.

Chapter IV: Midnight and noon.

Yet, the Guardian of Mind still remaining asleep, the memory of Ancient times and knowledge of himself was inacessible to Azrael. And as the body that contained his spirit happened to be that of a human being supporting the Light clan.
He became the champion of light, and brought dominion over many territories to his people, considered as a heroe of that age.
But when he actually did encounter the dark knights, using the light powers wasn't enough to vanquish an adversary he was impressed and amaized by. And Azrael was killed, deprived of his enveloppe. The Key points to creqte a Guardian

:star:Their Genders:
The 8 main (creator) guardians have each one his own race of mortal beings, while the minor ones do not.
Each of the folowing Guardians is related to one main state or feeling like: harmony - grief, darkness - rage, light - peace, Mind - reason, Conflict - passion...
The 8 ones are all male, and others can have male of female appearence, they concider each other as brothers and sisters, but the 8 ones constitute a whole.
There is no good and evil among the Guardians, they all are both creation and destruction, there are no good or bad domains, all are impartant for the word and the human beings.

:star:Physical appearence
Mostly human, exept for large pointy ears: like thqt of the elfs. They don't have body hair, their skin tones are variable, but are alwas light and little saturated, close to the light human skin tones. Their bodies are young but adult, healthy, graceful and pretty skinny, no injures or scars can remain on those bodies in general.
Their skin is covered with markings, which appear when the Guardian wants them to. The markings tell everything about the existance of the preson who wears them, from his/her coming into the world.
They have various eye colors and eye-appearence: may not have pupils, or any internal eye-elements that humans have.
Hair is of variable color as well, often the same color as the eyes, any haircuts are allowed, but be sure not to go into some punk haircut :shrug: think more of braids, long locks, hair jewelry.

:star:Wings and accessories
The guardians can make appear wings, to carry them, thought most of them levitate without wings. The wings represent the same texture or color as some part of the suit, as if they were part of the clothing. They can be not attached to teh body of the suit but float in the air. They can be bird-like wings with feathers, bat-like or comleatly artificial: made of metal, wood, plants, fabric, smoke, ect. All depends on what suits your guardian most, but you must be clear about it, no abstraction's allowed.
Most of the Guardisns have weapons - or staffs, tokens of their powers. Those an have a real functionnality (like a sword) or a purely symbollic importance.

:star:Clothing - suit
Keep in mind that it's important that all the Guardians have the same style of clothing, but each one based on a particular imagery related to his/her domain.
They are of an ancient world, so you are allowed to use all materials accessible at medieval times: it means no plastic, no modern fasion, no mini-skirts, nothing related to more recent cultures than the medieval european one.
The clothes are based on long folds, sleeves, scarfs, capes, ect - and several layers of them. Don-t denudate the Guardians too much in your initial design: you will always be able to "take off" that ceremonial Guardian suit partly to shwo more skin if you want XD
Remember there has to be something majestic, royal, superiour in those clothing: the Guardians are an elder race of divine creatures and have to look apropriately, to inspire respect, awe and worship ;)
Clothes are usually decorated with a lot of jewelry, metallic/bone/stone parts and accessories.
