I hope you all had a great holiday and are now looking forward to the year ahead.

After two stinky years on the trot, I'm hoping that  this year will be a good one.  This month particularly will be all about making a new start.  I plan to de-clutter my life, have a good sort through all my stuff and get rid of stuff I don't need or use any more.

Well, this week has sucked not being able to stitch.  I've been quite twiddly thumbs all week.  Thankfully, my poorly wrist has not prevented me from drawing and charting some new blackwork projects that I plan to start in the New Year.

I have tendonitis :cries:

My doctor has told me that I need to rest it and, if at all possible, cut back on the stitching, crochet etc...

I had a sneak feeling he would say this but I am still annoyed by it because (believe it or not), I'm actually ahead of schedule with my Christmas stitching this year!  The doctor prescribed for me some ibuprofen gel and a tubi-grip bandage and we'll see over the next few days if things improve.

Well it's been a while since my last post on here and I realised that I needed to update those of you who probably don't read my blog about issues I've been having with my website.

Lately, I haven't been able to access my website.  I don't know why, but last week I came to the decision that I was going to have to find an alternative place to host my patterns.  I have now done this and from now on, all my patterns can be downloaded via a page I set up on my blog.

I know it's only been up a few days and I've not had that many replies, but between here, my blog and facebook it would appear that you guys like the idea of cross-stitch patterns for the Pokedex 3D AR Markers.

It took me a while to figure out how to do this, but then that got me thinking as to whether an AR maker made from cross-stitch would actually work!  Curiosity got the better of me, so I charted the marker for Oshawott and stitched it up.

When it was finished, I booted up Pokedex 3D and almost squealed with delight as the 3DS' AR cameras read the marker and up popped a 3D version of Oshawott (very cute he was too).

It came to my attention recently via my DA friend :iconawenmir: that DA is blocking external links to my website.  It appears a few other of my DA friend's are experiencing the same problem too!

DA have given no explaination and their Help Centre has been no help.

This is extremely frustrating to those of us who are trying to promote our fan-based sites.

I've recently been thinking about creating a website solely for my Blackwork projects.

Later this month I hope to start adding a page for my Pokemon Blackwork series, but this will ultimately mean an overhaul of the blackwork page.

The last week has been quite tough and my mood has been very up and down.  Some days, like today, are good, but mostly they are bad and I feel very low with lots of bouts of crying.  I suppose this is normal, but I have been advised to seek my doctors advice regarding my low mood as this may be affecting my ability to look for work at the moment -- hopefully, it won't be long term.

I have bad news ....

A few weeks ago, my dad was taken ill suddenly and rushed to hospital.  His condition deteriorated and he was moved to intensive care where he was put on a ventilator and a dialysis machine.  Sadly, despite the excellent doctors and nursing staff at Macclesfield District General Hospital, my dad passed away yesterday morning.

She was 17 years old.

Pets become part of our lives; they are one of the family -– especially if they've been with you for a long time.  We hate to see them get sick, but as they get older, you know that inevitably, the time will come to say goodbye.

Squeak had been ill for some time but in recent days she had deteriorated quite rapidly.

Making the decision to have an animal put to sleep is never an easy thing to do, but there comes a time when you can't watch them suffer any longer.  Yesterday, my dad and my brother made that dreadful decision.

Wow, can you believe that we’re already two weeks into the New Year?

Anyway, I’ve been busy going through my work box trying to get all the smaller projects finished (hence the glut of new stuff in my gallery) but this doesn’t mean I don’t have larger projects to work on too!

Now that I have the bug for blackwork, I’m always wondering what I can turn into a project next and I have recently been working on new blackwork designs – some of them may end up on my website!

Anyway, my latest subject is the ShinRa Logo from Final Fantasy VII.

2010 promised so much and failed to deliver, and the past 12 months for me have been pretty horrendous!  I'm relieved it's over (as I think a lot of people are).  Now I want to look forward to the New Year as a new chapter in my life, and hopefully … a good one!

This year, I've decided not to make any New Year's resolutions or even set myself any goals for the simple fact that they don't always pan out.

I suppose the only goals I will commit to is getting back into work as soon as I can so that I can complete my studies.

We had a fabulous fancy dress party last night, with some daft drinking games (I am seriously hung over as I write this)!  Just as well the clocks went back last night so I could have an extra hour in bed!

I finally solved the issue of putting images on my web pages!!!!  If you check out my home page, you will see that I have managed to get my header image and the images for the links to my blog and DA accounts!!!

Now the hard work begins as I have 16 web pages that need re-designing!!!

It's been tweaked because people were saying that some of the colours couldn't be seen on the dark background, which I agree.  There are still no images at present =( I think that I may have resolved this, although I need to play around with that to make sure that I've cracked it before I redesign my pages!

It's a little rough round the edges as I am still trying to figure out things, but the layout is pretty much how I want it.  There are no images yet because I can't seem to get it to upload them (no matter what format I use) and there are also a few patterns missing (110mb doesn't want to upload them), so whilst some patterns are listed you won't be able to download them until the links are fixed.

When I (finally) get my website up and running, I had planned to have a gallery showing off other people's stitching of my designs, however, as I have seen from friends who already have their own sites, this can eat a lot of storage and means less room for patterns!

Well, I’ve just got home following seven fabulous days in sunny Gibraltar.  For a while my fiancé and I thought the holiday would not go ahead due to that pesky volcano in Iceland, and it looked like we’d be stranded in Gibraltar for a few extra days as the thing erupted again mid-week, but thankfully, we got home okay.

So we had a great week soaking in the sunshine, spending lots of money and drinking plenty of alcohol!

Well March has been as mad as a hare!!!

The last two weeks have been a complete blur.  Those of my regular watchers will know that it was my mum and dad's 40th wedding anniversary two weeks ago, my sister and her family were over from Gibraltar and we had lots of parties!

Well, what happened to January?

To phrase the old Latin maxim "Tempus Fugit" it seems that time really does fly, especially as you get older!!!

It's been a while now since my last journal, but I have been posting quite a lot on my blog of late.  The last few weeks have been busy with work and stuff and surprisingly, my social life has started early!

Last weekend I went to see Avatar in 3D.  It was an absolutely amazing film and I can't wait for it to come out on blu-ray.  For now, I've got the equally excellent Ice Age 3 to keep me amused till the summer!

Last week I was checking the gallery of someone who had recently added me to their watch list here on deviantART when I noticed that this particular person had downloaded the chart for Cloud from Little Mojo’s site and stitched it!

It’s the first time I’ve come across one of my In Stitches designs in somebody else’s gallery so big kudos to him for posting it.  I think that it looks fabulous, although I think the DMC colours look a little odd.

Well some of you may have noticed that I haven't designed any new patterns for quite some time.  New submissions to my DA gallery have been few and far between, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can keep to my goal of one submission a month.

Well you may or may not have seen on the news that the UK is under a blanket of snow at the moment.  For those of my DA friends who live in the UK like me, you are no doubt experiencing the sub-zero conditions first hand!

The newsmen say it’s the worse snows since 1981.  Anyone under the age of 16 certainly won’t have seen anything like this and I myself can’t recall the last really bad winter we had – I think it was 1990/1991.

The weather is here to stay for at least another week and yet more snow is due over the weekend =(

Well the holiday's are almost over and for me and many others, it's back to the daily grind of nine to five tomorrow =(

Well, another year has come to an end, and what a year 2009 has been.

For me, 2009 has not been the best of years, I feel as though there has been far more lows than highs.  Obviously the biggest low for me was not passing my exam and then due to a cruddy illness I couldn't take the resit =( that really sucked because now I will have to work twice as hard next year and that means less stitching =( :cries:

Well the good news is that yesterday I finally got my new charting software :dance:

I’m very excited about this because now it means I can do decent looking charts a la “Little Mojo”!

I’m still getting used to all the features but already I am noticing that it is so much better than my old software =) now starts the ardous task of transferring ALL my patterns into the new software - I fear this could take some time, but I am hoping to have it done by the end of the year!

All I need to do then is find a decent “free” website to host my patterns and I’m good to go!!!

Well it’s been a few weeks since my last post.  Thankfully, I am now over my chest infection (it took me a month) but due to my extended illness, my revision suffered and in the end I had to pull out.  It was an absolute arse trying to get my doctor to give me a note but I did in the end and all I can do now is keep fingers crossed that I get my fee back.

I must apologise for not being online much over the last few weeks.  Work has been hectic since I came back from Gibraltar (I came back to a huge mountain of post) and just to make things worse, I came down with a cold last week!  It didn’t get better as the week went on so after spending all weekend hacking and chucking up my guts, I went to see my doctor on Monday and it turns out I have a chest infection!!!  I was given antibiotics and an inhaler (yucky) and have been off work all week, sleeping between meds and trying to get better.

I’m starting to feel better now, and hopefully I will be back in the thic ]]>
