My New Year's resolutions:

1.Working on my friendships. I know a lot of people in the area around my University, but I'm not really close with anyone. Most people only know me on the surface and I don't dare talking about important things with them. Since I moved out I miss having a best friend.
2. Working on my body. The usual stuff, eat healthier, less chocolate, more sports... meh.
3. Doing more creative stuff, e.g. Photography (obviously!).

You probably noticed that you don't see me around that much anymore... I'm very sorry for that. I don't know what has happened with me, but my energy has disappeared. I keep falling asleep in every lecture and on weekends, I should be keeping the flat clean, washing, studying, doing research for work and preparing papers for Uni, but I spend most of the time in bed. I'm so terribly tired. My new hobby: Staring at the ceiling.

I'm sure it's something physical, hormones or such, because I'm feeling emotionally okay. But all I get to hear from doctors is that tiredness is no disease and "no, I won't write you a sick note." Seems like I won't get any treatment, I can only wait for a miracle. It's frustrating.

I'll still keep my stuff because there's always this one hope left: Maybe next semester it will be better...

It feels so good to have a free mind and not having to prepare for the next exam! Learning night and day numbs my creativity down to almost zero. But I only have one more week or so left until I have to concentrate on learning again... I already had a nightmare last night of my next oral exam and I didn't know a thing

She's staying at my place until... at least this weekend. I'm going to make chocolate brownies and take her to a party. Any other suggestions how I could cheer her up or at least let her not get a serious depression?

But it wasn't a problem and I had so much fun, I think everyone on the set (mua, assistant, photographer, the other model) enjoyed their time. One model was needed for harcore bondage and one for posing elegantly on ballett pointe shoes (guess which one was my job... it was definitely more painful). I was a bit nervous, but I got along with the other model very well and not a single minute did I feel uncomfortable. The photographer wants to shoot me again because he enjoyed working with me, I'm so excited now

Big thanks and hugs to everyone who encouraged me, I'm so glad I went! I would have missed out on so much if I didn't.

I can't await to get the pictures, I'll share them as soon as I get them!

Now, midnightblack approached me for a TFP shooting, without even knowing me or that I was looking for one... and now I've got like half a night to decide on yes or no because it'll be on Friday.

I think he does a very good job, but... can I do it? His models are always so perfect. I'm so scared that when I arrive he'll say something like "Oh... erm... you looked better in the online pictures" "Did you lie about your weight?" "Sorry we can't so this pose with you, your nose would ruin the picture" And there will be another model too, a pro model probably who's beautiful, and I'm not.

Maybe I should stick with the amateur hobby photographers first? Hell, I don't know whether I should go to the shoot or not. I'm a scared chicken. Pooock pock pooock.

according to my sister's experiences, I'll be getting enough stares for my mozarella skin. Ahh, I better call it ivory skin. Sounds much better. Or cameo skin maybe.

I decided not to take a fancy camera with me because I'll be travelling and sleeping in state trains a lot, sandwiched between the locals. So my backpack has to be as light and worthless as possible. It's a great chance to prove that equipment doesn't matter...
I got the Canon IXUS 860 IS (in the US it's called 870 IS, I think), which is a little 8MP point&shoot camera. Any opinions on that one? It's too late to exchange it, so only good opinions please

Today I met one of those persons that are very hard to find. They give you a feeling as if you found a lost sibling of some sort. It was a young man I met on the train home. We shared a cabin, started a conversation and talked for two hours nonstop, about science, languages, philosophy and art and about our life as University students. Our words were like sparks that lightened the night of insignificance. I haven't had such a great conversation for a long time. I felt that we would be very close friends if we only had any official connection, like common friends, work or uni. But we were just two people who shared a train cabin.

Then we arrived at his stop (FrÃ¶ndenberg) and he got off the train. Gone. Now I don't even know his name. I could hope we'd meet again in a funny coincidence, but life isn't a Hollywood movie.

Isn't that strange... How people can find and lose each other just like that. And on the other hand I don't feel a close connection to my fellow students I meet and work with every day. How can I not miss any of my fellow students who are always nice and everything? And how can I miss a person I met for two hours and who I'll never meet again so badly?

Another strange thing

I'm home at my mom's house after being away for a long time and everything seems like I've never moved out. We've been ice-skating on the creaking and cracking village lake, eating cake, decorating the christmas tree. And my inspiration is back. It seems like what killed my inspiration is DÃ¼sseldorf, where I live a happy but meaningless little life with nice but meaningless friends. In one and a half weeks, I have to return there.

The last thing

In a few hours we'll celebrate christmas (in Germany it's on the 24th) and there'll be some drama because my dad doesn't want to come over and my sister will be disgruntled because of that and yell at me for various reasons. I'm looking forward to the 27th when I'll hopefully be able to see my dear friends I've been missing so much.

What's more, I don't have any friends here who'd model for me in a fruitful kind of way (probably because they're all uncreative elite students too). They're only like "Hey, take a nice application photo for me please, I don't wanna pay a studio photographer" and like "I've changed my mind, I need professional looking photos after all". And not like "Hey, let's go to the abandoned fields today and take some photos of how I'm swinging an iron chain". I'm missing it. Seems like the summer is over.

Do you have any suggestions where I could sell it better than on ebay? And how much could I possibly get for it? It's a hardly-ever-used Canon EOS 5D. Buying price was something around 3'500 â¬ and the warranty is still valid.

After all, it's just a thing without a soul. I think.

... and no, I'm not leaving dA. I still have my cheaper old camera, so I can still take photos. And don't ask me not to sell it please, I've made my decision.

It was the art.fair 21 in KÃ¶ln where I was invited because my picture "I'm a woman too" won this fancy art award there last year (I didn't get VIP tickets that year though...). But the people there made me feel completely out of place. I felt kinda looked down upon because I seemed to be neither a rich investor nor an art gallery director nor an artist, just a freaky girl who probably slept with someone to get into the VIP lounge. When I brought my dad, the officials were talking to him and ignoring me as if he was some important person who brought his little daugther. After all, this was about selling art, and I didn't seem to be going to spend big amounts of money. How could I dare standing in front of the pictures and look at them while there were more worthy people? The most important thing seemed to be showing off one's wealthiness. I saw one woman wear a dead fox, with still head and legs attached, painted with silver. The artists weren't examples of modesty either. One gallery offered a little wooden board with some rows of nails sticking in it. It cost 20.000,- â¬. Why? Because it was made by an TV actor. I learned that art is not about art, it is about money and nothing else.

Bah. The whole thing made me not wanting to be a professional artist anymore.

Yay, `angelles has bought me a subscription!

Big thanks to her! I'm going to show you some Amsterdam photos here in a few hours, since I'm able to do so now!

How rae you guys? I'm back from Amsterdam. The city is... amazing. It doesn't even look like a capital city. More like a little wonderland town.
The trip was very restorative for me. I learned the difference between sativa and indica (I like sativa better) and we did nothing much more than walking around in awe of the beauty of the city. I didn't bring my big camera (I didn't feel like carrying it the whole day) so I didn't really take photos other than holiday snapshots. The sex museum was the only disappointment, they should better have called it porn museum.

I also discovered the amazing (and kinda freaky in a nice way) fashion scene of japanese gothic lolita. As a hobby the girls all around the world collect dresses, blouses, skirts etc (or sew them themselves) and dress up for leisure time and meetups. And the stuff is soo beautiful (if you don't know it, here are some typical pieces: [link] ). Well, the classical victorian dresses, not the kitschy frills&lace stuff.

I might gat a student assistant job from my favourite prof at the uni! She wrote me an email because I got 96% in the final statistics exam and offered me the job. I'm probably having the interview next week, hope everything will go well.

I need that job... seems like I lost about 175 dollars to a criminal. Stupid me. The bank says they can't transfer it back. Need to earn some money now... I suck at living.

I found out that I like the look & feel of corsets. After my cheap waist cincher I got a very expensive and very very awesome corset this week. It's victorian style (I think) in black with white lace trim... *drool*
As my boyfriend isn't here I've got no one to help me lacing it tight, so we'll have to wait for the photos... besides I don't have time anyway... I always forget that

From now on I am only selling them hand-signed on the front or back and numbered on the back. With dedication if you'd like. And I'm trying to keep the price at the same level. In fact shipping will become cheaper for Germany and Europe. if you want one, just drop me a note.

I don't like this anonymous selling machine. And I don't like buying prints here because they are not signed and thus no real collectible artwork to me. If people like my art, I want to give them something valuable for the price they pay.

I seem to think different about art than other people... or why do so many deviants feature their most popular deviation? i don't understand that. i always feature images of mine of which i think that they need more attention. because i care for the little ones that need to be raised, the ones that wanted me to produce them. i would never ever make the phantom agony my featured deviation, that would be so unfair against my other images!

There is a lush island in Budapest, Hungary. Once a year four hundred thousands of young people from all over the world come there, mount their tents and spend a summer week in a different world. Barefeet and sun-kissed, they abolish dresscodes and forget about everything that worries them in their home town, enjoying the sun, the music and the mud. Hundreds of great bands, singers, dancers and conceptual artists from all over the world come to perform for them. Great vibe.

I've been there. I've got bitten by a spider, got henna painted on my hands and my tummy, and I got addicted to a hungarian chocolate bar that isn't available in Germany (fortunately!) And I've made a lot of awesome experiences.

After coming back I got sick and while being sick I went to Stockholm. Now I'm back and I have 2'120 new messages.

And I have a lot of things to do for Uni. It's too much for me.

Please give me a bit of time...

SORRY for being away for so long!

I've got my new camera now, the prize I won along with the german art.award 2006. It's a - drrrrrrrrrrums! - Eos 5D with 24-70mm f/2.8 and 100mm f/2.8 macro. WEEEEEEEEEE!

Now watch out for new pics, but don't expect too many. I still haven't arrived in my new life yet.

And thank you so much for all the support from you guys. Even when I was away, I got heaps of comments and nice words. That's amazing!

I've won the art award 2006. They told me it was not because of the Internet vote but because of the offline "ballots", but still! Thank you very much to everyone who voted for me! I still can't believe it

As you may have noticed, I'm not that much around dA anymore. I wish I could. Uni has turned out to be heaps more work than I imagined. I have to be there at 8 am every frigging morning. But they told me that's only the first term, the next ones won't be as hard. Hope they're right and I will have more time for photos next year

Wie ihr sicher schon wisst, wird ein Werk von mir auf der art.fair in Köln ausgestellt, und deswegen habe ich ein paar Freikarten für die Vernissage bekommen. Die ist am 1. 11. um 19 Uhr mit anschließender Feier, die "öffentliche" Ausstellung fängt am 2. 11. dann an. Vier sind noch übrig! Und anstatt sie in Ebay reinzustellen, will ich sie lieber an dA-Leute verschenken. Wenn du also gerne zu der Vernissage gehen möchtest, schreib mir einfach eine Note!

Bad news: I can't find a place to live in Düsseldorf. My studies start in October, and I haven't got anthing yet, not even my admission for Uni. Hope I'll find a room to live in, otherwise I've got a problem.

Good news: I'm going on a trip through Norway by plane/ship/train for five days. Together with my mum. End of next week. Never been to Norway before... looking forward to it.

I'm still waiting for some judges to send me notes with their judgings. That's a good sign though, they seem to think about it a lot. Still, I can hardly await the results

I hope to get all the results till Monday, because then I'll be able to present the winners before I go to Norway! I also open the poll today for that reason. I hope the last judge won't let herself be influenced by it. It often depends on how many friends and friends of friends people have to win a public poll. That is why the winner of the public vote won't receive a price that money can buy.

I wish I could make a living with photography, but my parents think I should study a science at uni and they won't support me if I don't do something down-to-earth. I'm in a kinda depri mood now, because in order to make a good degree and not to overdraw my expenses, I'll have to almost quit the creative life I love so much.

We had great weather! My mum took this picture of me in Oslo. We discovered every city per pedes.

I've never seen a country with that much water everywhere. Their Fjords and lakes and waterfalls don't seem to be enough, they still need heaps of artificial lakes and fountains...

They also have lots of space in their towns. You'll never bump into someone like you'd do in other towns.

I took almost 2GB of pictures...

And my mum took pictures, too. Here she photographs Brygge in Bergen.

We went by plane, ship and train, to Oslo, Bergen, Alesund, Molde, Kristiansund and Trondheim... from the train we had great views on the rough landscape, but it often moved too fast to capture it. The window reflections were a bugger too

Beautiful ship. We ourselves didn't sail, we went by the post-ship Hurtigrouten. Do you think I need a new haircut?

Norway is such a free and open country! It was like a perfect dream, a utopian fantasy world... the people looked like elbs, tall, blonde, slim and healthy (or like bearded metal-legends). The country was even more fantasy-like. I think I would not like to live there, it is too perfect for me (and too expensive - for example, a beer in a restaraunt costs 7 ). I'm not born for a paradise...

The voting has finished! Today I calculated the final ratings. It was a very close race! We had three categories that were judged:

Photography
How much effort went into the photograph itself? Was it a random shot or well planned? Picture composition, lines, focus, quality, depth of field etc. are considered here.

Manipulation
How much effort went into the photomanipulation? Was it a senseless play with filters or a time-consuming process with many layers involved? Colours, contrast, composition of the elements, artistic skill (if something had to be drawn/painted) and so on are judged in this category.

Impact
How much thought went into the idea for the picture? Did it evolve by accident or does it have a certain concept? Do all elements work well together? Does it succeed in depicting an emotion, a theme, a message etc.? Do the title and description add to it? Is it original and unusual?

The winner of the first prize, which was chosen by me, is also the one who got the best ratings in the category "impact".
The winner of the second prize is who got the best total rating.

"The fire looks very effective and stands out against the desaturated background. A lot of thought has gone into the concept and makes you think about the deeper meaning behind it." ~Fijay

"Though the photo was not the best i think he made the best possible of it! It's cut out very exact, it seems that he's soften a great deal and given a somewhat different structure to the clothes. He also changed a bit of the hair (neck and ears). Overall he made the picture look more painted, turned it to black-white and brightened the forhead- and glasses-part.
I think it already was a great deal of work to the photo. Further he added this firelike colours to his back. Actually - I think - it looks more like some kind of explosion, but somehow well done, especially the the just slowly fading ends of the fire, if you look close enough.
*mgdeath5 gave much thought to it. He did well with submitting a gloomy, forsaken and desperate mood. It's far lonely lowlands, colourless and foggy, only in the far you can see some towers.
And with the towers we come to the next point i have to praise: he referes to another of his pictures, where this towers are to be seen as well, only from another perspective. If you know them, you feel more involved to it, as if you were not only seeing one part of this world he created, because you recognise something else of this picture. You feel you know more of it, than only this one thing. It's something familiar and it seems to show more of the story he's got to tell.
This fact really grabbed me and keeps me thinking such as "How did this guy come to the situation he's in now? What happened? I'm going to Berlin! Well, I've applied for it, to study psychology at the the Humboldt University to be precise. Which is pretty hard to get in, since they only take 120 students each year.
So yeah, wish me luck!

It's confirmed: I am getting a digital SLR for christmas and for my birthday (it's almost the same date anyway)

There's only one problem: I don't know which camera to whish for. I only know that it should 1. offer many many options so that I can experiment with long exposure, macro and possibly everything, and it should 2. make photos in a decent quality so that I can print them if I want to, and it should be 3. be affordable, handy and not too heavy - but that's not so important, the most important thing is that I can experiment a lot...
Pretty hard to find the right camera eh. I don't have a clue... If you could give me any hints, tell me what experiences you made, or what brand to go for, I would be very happy!!

At this moment, I have almost everything I could wish for. I live on my own in a four-bathroom-mansion, I have Internet, good music and enough money, I don't have to fear anything (rationally), I am healthy and young, I don't suffer any lacks of food, alcohol or drugs, I am one of the best students in my grade, I've seen the world, I've screwed several guys and kissed some girls. And above all, I have at least two great and true friends I really love. Fuck, this sounds like the perfect life that I wished for when I was a kid. But still, I'd be lying if I said I was completely happy. When I start thinking about my life I come up with a whole bunch of problems I cannot solve. That is fucking annoying.
Are you completely happy? If not, what do you believe you need to become happy? Or should we just stop searching for happiness? And what then?

Now that I've seen Naples I'm happy to live in Germany... Italians are strange people, all women look the same, all upstyled with tons of make-up and designer accessories and wearing the same trend clothes, as well as the guys do... and the cars don't brake at the red lights, they just honk all the time...you have to run across the streets and hope not to be run over. I'm sure Italy too has towns with places that are not cluttered with garbage, covered with mafia clan tags and smelling and fussing hideously... but well, I havn't seen them yet

However, most guys are very nice there, and they make the best ice cream in the world
