The last little tweaks have been made to Kirks Kountry Kreations! I am practically doing cartwheels! Yeah, sure it doesn't have all the bells and whistles. I had to work with what I know. Anywho... It's at least sparked fire under my mom. She's back in her sewing room making more things for me to post.

Now I'm considering what I can do in the realm of web designing. Teaching myself the tricks of the trade is first and foremost. I could go back to school but that would mean more loans and I can't do that right now. So, please stay tuned. More about this decision and others will be conveyed.

Kirks Kountry Kreations has been revamped. new layout and shopping experience. man, i had NO idea that trying to get a business was this difficult to get off the ground. not that i'm discouraged in any way. nope. quite the opposite.

so, now it's time to search for the local craft fairs and move on from there. in the mean time, JDS Grafix is still going on strong. don't forget to check out what's going on there. ^_^

alright folks. as the title says, i've tightened my boot straps and set off to be my own boss. an on-line store has been created on zazzle. perhaps you've seen the designs posted for the t-shirts? i'm praying that it takes off. it's true that it may not be as popular as say one of the major designing labels but a little something is totally better than nothing!

my web site has had an overhaul as far as design is concerned. it's formated with css. that was a trip in a half. thank God that i had DA's css to mess with first. it's a great pre-css training tool. i think i've got the nack of regular css now. a few more designs will help me know.

does anyone know of a good blog site to use? currently, i have a Blogger account. however, i don't like the fact that i can't completly modify the design. granted, it's a free acount. so i guess i'd have to be able to buy a subscription... either that or continue to use this site as my blog... hm... decisions, decisions...

so, that's what's been happening in my neck of the woods. hope ya'll are having a great weekend.

yes, folks. you guessed it. she's back to making css designs again. however, i must admit to being inspired by a contest *TreesWithCharacter's holding here: [link] . still debating if i should enter it into the contest... if you like making CSS and need a contest to enter, you may want to check it out. also, i have a look at the bi-monthly contests that are being held around DA. tons of stuff are there.

anywho, i've been in absolute awe over the opening ceremonies at the Olympics. it was fantastic! my favorite part was the tai chi masters around the kids. beautiful. the second favorite part was the little green men with lights. the way that they moved in time with the lights on they're outfits was so much fun to watch. i must admit, when the tai chi masters and the little green men started to move about, it looked like a flock of birds moving through the sky. or fireflies in the case of the little green men...

so, that's my little squeal over it.

has anyone heard of second life or kaneva or imvu? i've just discovered them. yeah, sure they've been out for a long time but it just shows how far behind the curve i am. anywho, they've caught my attention. they're wonderful distractions.

also, i've been working for a local company called Man In The Mirror. there's a religious group with the same name but that's not these folks. their whole aim is to help tutor and mentor kids. i'm in the process of building their web site... something i've only done for fun. luckily, they've chosen a template to work off of. ^_^

so, that's why i haven't been updating for a really long time. i hope to have something for you to view soon. ^_^!

couldn't help it... i know i have a store with cafepress.com but ... they won't let you multiple designs with one product. i wanted to make several different card designs available. well, problem solved with zazzle.com. not only is the store for free, i can use several designs for one product AND have really awesome promotion tools, design the "store" better... oh, i guess i could gush over this for a while. i won't torture you. several designs are available. most of them are ones posted here. again, i'd like some feedback if you don't mind... thx

i actually won *GaioumonBatou's CSS contest. can you believe it! i'm so over the moon about this. it's really great. can't thank *GaioumonBatou enough for the feature. so, what did i win? a year's subscription and a magnet from the DA shop. great prizes huh? that and being featured as the CSS designer for *GaioumonBatou. publicity and a chance to stay around for a little while longer. nice.

yup. i've figured that keeping it simple as much as possible is the key. that's why this design isn't fancy. just has a few tricks in it. this whole project has taught me a very valuable lesson: coding is HARD. i'm not frightened by it, by no means. it's just... intimidating! anywho, more coding and designs are in the works. oh, and if anyone knows of a few css contest out there PLEASE tell me!

well... i'm in my last term for school. can you believe it! i can't... i mean i CAN but it's snuck up on me so quick! i was just going with the flow and now a turnpike is smack dab infront of me. so, it's onword and upward... and heavly job searching. heh. i forgot how involved it is to job search. thankfully there are a some classes at my school that helps with searching, resumes, and the like.

oh, and i started my internship for global group inc. it's a printing/publishing place. i'm in the graphics department working on ads that no one else wants to do. the subject matter is a little touchy and bothers the co-workers. no big. it's a lesson in patience for me. i'll be working on bigger and better things later on.

that's the skinny from my end of the world. i'm working on some things to be posted. need more stuff for the portfolio as well... until next time!

sorry sorry sorry sorry. i didn't keep you informed about the end of the first semester. all went fine. i aced my GD100 class as well as my Success Strategies class. the next semester starts today. it's another light schedual, just two classes. probably a blessing in wolf's fur. monday through wednessday is image editing a.k.a. photoshop.

wednessday and thursday is design history part 1. friday is FREE! i've taken a lot of my GED classes in other schools and have been able to transfer them over. i'm sure that next semester i will have a full schedule. until then, i'm takeing it easy.

i'm not going to type out all of the instructions for parts 3, 4 and 5. it'll take too long. so, i'll summerize.

Part 3 - take 4x4 drawings and enlarge them into 8x8 drawings using a grid system in pencil only (that was hightly important...)

- the grid system was a 1 inch grid to a 2 inch grid... fairly simple

Part 4- after an ink test to check for "bleeding", the 8x8 drawings could be inked in and mounted onto gray board. my stupid scanner wouldn't scan the gray board so...

Part 5 - a paragraph describing what, how and why i did this project was to be written. it's to help us learn how to explain ourselves to our clients. plus, we were to give a presentation based on said paragraph. really, the presentation was WAY harder than the paragraph.

i guess you could consider this as a presentation for the project as well... dout that mr. johnson would see it that way... bummer...

ok folks... this is one of the biggies for my GD100 class. here's the instuctions:

Assignment Overview:

Design and produce two contrasting compositions that demonstrate you acquired knowledge of basic design principles and elements and their potential visual relationships.

Phase one:

Choose three pairs of contrastion relationships from the list on page 55 of the text (e.g., negative versus positive, jagged versus straight, etc.). In brainstorming sessions with peer groups, you can generate additional pairs. Produce three 4-inch x 4-inch compositional studies of each pair with pencil and black markers on layout paper. The final work can be produced in black. Work witha variety of graphic elements to explore and articulate the contrasting relationship. Curved, angular, straight, and meandering lines: various geometric and organic shapes and various textures can be use to create the element for the two contrasting compositions. What kind of shape says gagged, rough, chaos or order? Answering this question is at the heart of the assignment. The overall design of each composition shoud be non-objective. In this study phase you can draw and design the elements with pencil and black marker and refine them later.

From three Pairs of compisitional studies, chose one pair that you feel is an effective concept. On Layout paper, redraw and refine the design of the two contrasting compositions using a 4-inch x4inch format. The goal of this interim scale phase is to refine your initial compositional choices in terms of size and scale, placement, hierarchy, and craft. use 4-inch x 4-inch refinement as referench for the final design of your contrasting compositions.
