So yea, I'm in SVA right now. Sofar my classes are pretty cool. All my teachers seem nice...cept for one, that one is pretty uptight, but we'll see what happens later on, too soon to judge. But yea. This school's keeping me from being lazy, so that's a good thing. Only thing is my expenses are annoying, so I need a fuckin job for real this time =/

So yea, my classes. Basic Graphic Design is alright. Basic Type Design is pretty interesting. Computers in the Studio is kinda easy, cuz right now we're learning about the programs I already know, but I'm learning other things as well. Literature and Writing is pretty simple, I just read and write essays, and the professor's pretty leniant and helpful. 3D Graphic Design is awesome cuz it's different, we do 3D projects with our hands, and the professor's pretty cool. Visual Literecy is kinda boring, but at least it's only one semester. Graphic Drawing sofar is alright, a bit annoying, though. Yea, most of my classes are like 2 credit classes, so that's why I gotta take alot of classes this year. Oh well.

And I was thinking of what kind of graphic design I would wanna do. I'll probably pick either poster design, book design, or maybe flash. I dunno, that's what I think now, but we'll see later on =]

Well, I got an A+ in my Designing With Type class (same with English 2)! And I'm finishing up on my last batch of classes in Kingsborough. Currently I'm taking Illustration Style, Adobe Illustrator, Intro to Graphic Design and Advertising, Modern America: 1920s - Present, and Independant Study. Just now I was putting four of my Illustration Style projects up and one from Adobe Illustrator.

I'm working on two more posters in Illustrator and I just finished my last Illustration Style project. Looks so awesome, I can't wait to get it back!!! And I handed in my final project for my independant study course. And I'm done in Intro to GD because my project was accepted into our school's End of the Year Student Art Gallary.

Soon I shall be graduating from Kingsborough, have my summer break, and then I'll go to SVA in September

Well, I'm officially transferring from Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn to the School of Visual Arts in New York City. I also got accepted to Pratt Institute in downtown Brooklyn as well, but I like SVA's graphic design program better. Earlier, I've been having a dilemma on where to go to, but a few good friends of mine has reminded me that the best decision of which school to go to is where you REALLY want to go to, despite the cost. Plus, I got feedback that Pratt's more of an academic school, and they make you take alot of unneccisary classes and expect like around 135 credits from you instead of 120.

So whether I get good financial aid, grants, a scholarship, or having to get loans, I've made my decision.

My winter classes are going okay. I made this poster in Design with Type, but it came out crappy (although my professor thinks it's good). This is what happens when I don't know Adobe Illustrator yet...lol. But now we're all designing a deck of cards. When I'm done with that project, I'll post it on here before I hand it in cuz god knows when I'm gonna get it back. Probably during spring.

Till next time...

Hey ppl. Yea, lately I've been rapidly uploading artwork to my profile, which is a good thing. Last semester (Spring 05), I felt very uninspiring and didn't end up doing anything. Plus the classes I took were boring. But this semester I did stuff in class and some stuff outside of school.

As this semester comes to a close, I just wanna say that I enjoyed my art classes (even the English class as well) this semester. The art classes I took were Illustration, Experimental Typography, Adobe Photoshop, and Painting. This winter I'm taking Design with Type (yes another Typography class, plus English 2 ad well) and this spring I'm taking Illustration Style, Adobe Illustrator, Introduction to Graphic Design and Advertising, and Independant Study: Problems in Studio Arts (and I'm also taking Short Fiction). And after that, I'm graduating from Kingsborough and I'm off to...wherever.

Yea, official schools I'm applying to transfer: School of Visual Arts, Pratt Institute, City Tech, FIT, and and Brooklyn College. I'm also in question of a couple of others, but I'll see where it'll all lead me cuz I gotta go to this transfer meeting on December 6th. Hopefully it'll all be clear with me soon.

So anyway, check out my new stuff. Look at my scraps as well, I put a few things in there. And stay tuned for a few more mounted projects and my paintings! Later!

Right now I'm a bit less than half into my winter break. I start school again in March. Right now I have nothing in mind, except for making my site. Lately I dunno why, but sometimes I am just too bored to do anything and I try my best to push myself to do something. I've been having sleeping issues, which made me very tired and everything.

I would like to do more things in Photoshop/Imageready. Right now I dunno what to draw on paper, so maybe change it up a bit. All I know how to do right now in Photoshop is some photomanipulation. Any suggestions on trying something new? Drop a reply!
Also, drop a reply if ya got feedback. I would love it so I'll know what's a good thing to work on. At least something to let me work on while on my break.

Yes, I took pics on some of my artwork done from drawing class. I didn't take all of em because they either didn't interest me or they didn't look good on cam. But I posted 14 of em, so I think that's alot and enough for one day. Plus, I just added a photomaniplulation, so that makes 15 in one day.

I did three photomanipulations sofar. One was me looking in the mirror and my reflection's a different color and I made myself a redhead, but that part wasn't really working. So I decided to take another pic and make my hair red, and that was the pic of me in pigtails. Also I added a red background (should've been darker) and voila! I did the same with blue as well. I'm really getting into photoshop again!

Well, I dunno what's next. Drawing at home, another photomanipulation, dunno. I am, though, gonna post my final design project, which was making a logo. I'm actually finished with it, so maybe I'll take a pic of it tomorrow or Thursday. I've been using my mom's cam too much, so I dunno

So I posted another design project and a few of my drawings on here. My last drawing class is on Tuesday, so afterwords, I'll be taking pics on some of the artwork that I am happy of and post em on here! And I also just got Adobe Photoshop. I might get Illustrator soon as well, that is a great tool for graphic design, from what I've heard. I made a new ID from Photoshop, I love the way it came out.

Next term I'm taking two design classes. They aren't official yet cuz I only went through advisement, but I'll hopefully be taking publication design and computer art. My alternatives are experimental typography and digital art illustration. Yea, my advisor suggested that I'd start taking computer art classes. My "by hand" art/design classes I still need to take are illustration, illustration style, and designing with type (I think, I took a peek of that class before, and they were doing stuff by hand).
Maybe I'll put it in my scraps cuz I did work hard at it, but I dun think it's good to be a deviation. It's good to have it, though, cuz of dealing with color and everything. My next one will probably be a deviation cuz it deals with illustration. Yay.

I soooo wanna take painting next term. I also wanna take design with type, that class looks interesting, or maybe illustration. I dunno, whenever I pick my classes for spring semester, I'll let ya know. I'm thinking of trying two liberal arts classes, two required art classes, and one art elective. I need at least 12 (supposedly one drawing for each week). The last four I've done, and probably for future drawings until I say that I'm done with it, are probably gonna be from my drawing journal. At the end of the semester, my professor's gonna critique all of my work. The work I do in class is from the big ass pads I had to buy. Maybe I'll take pics of em, which ever ones I liked. There are some that I really liked.

I don't just draw with pencil now (both colored and regular), but I also draw with charcoal and oil pastels. Probably soon I'm gonna have to draw with ink. You'll see.

Hope you enjoy my art. Gimme feedbadk, if you'd like, cuz I need to draw at least eight more drawings!!!!

Yea, I finally posted something after most of my summer passed by. My latest one is called Blue Sorrow. I actually started it about a month ago, but I thought I ruined it cuz I used grey at one point and thought it didn't look good, so I gave up on it. I still had it in my portfolio, though. I was looking in it today to get ideas for a new project when I found it, so I just continued working on it after about a month passed by, and it pretty much turned out nice. So...yea, I finally updated. Now once again, I'm fresh out of ideas. Sometimes I either think of em on my own, or browse around others' work and brainstorm (no, I do NOT steal other people's work, it's not part of being an artist).

Yea, it's September, and I start college in seven days. Hopefully I'll survive.

I am really fresh out of ideas. I think the next time I post here is when I do an art project in college. Yea, I have three art classes this semester: Modern Art History (more like history), Drawing (which I'll probably post my assignments if they turn out nice), and Design (depends, we'll see). They'll probably keep me busy with a load of artwork. As of now, PLEASE feel free to give me any ideas or any feedback. Thanks!

Hello again. I just felt like I needed to write another journal entry. Sofar, I have been working on my artwork. Some pieces I like, some pieces I got disappointed with how they turned out to be, especially my Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend drawing. I thought it would be cool, but it just looks dumb. I continued on with my abstract drawings. Sofar, I think my best piece is Flammable Ying Yang cuz I think it looks awesome and futuristic, and it's something an artist can come up of by using his or her imagination. My latest piece, which is Imaginary, it's from an Evanescence song. I posted part of the lyrics that go with the drawing. It's alright, but I love how the sky turned out.

I have also used a little binder that I used as a portfolio. I have a folder, where I put my artwork, and I have looseleaf paper, listing my artwork. I also made code labels. How these work is that I put it in perenthases, stating what kind of artwork it is and what number it is. Examples: (PNCL4) - Pencil drawing, fourth one, (WTR1) - Watercolor painting, first one (those are all I have for now). On the back on the lefthand corner of the pieces of art, I label em. I keep the artwork in stacks in their order in the folder.

Well, now I'm fresh out of ideas. Anyone have any suggestions? Please reply if you do! Thanks!

I might as well use this entry as an intro. Hi, my name is Maria, I just graduated high school, and I'm going to college to study graphic arts. Right now I do artwork as a hobby. I have other hobbies as well, like creative writing and guitar playing. But keeping the theme of this entry, I've been starting up with my artwork for a while now. I have been wanting to become an artist ever since I was a little kid, but I didn't imagine myself being serious about it until now. Well, I hope you all like my work. Dun forget to give me some comments! Thanks!
