wow a full 3,000 views here on DA, first i wana say THANK YOU ALL!!!! and second that i seriously need to update this journal!

ok well, jcollege life is pretty great, im in the theater program and LOVING IT! we did a production of Urinetown a few weeks back and it was possibly the best experience of my life. the people are amazing and made me and it feel like family, the show was very professional, i learned a lot just in under 3 weeks, probably more than i had the entire semester in any class i have taken there. but yeah i am super excited to keep going, honing my craft (i do back stage stuff TECHIE!!!) and i will hopefully take some pictures of our events and show all of you what im talking about. and about my recent stuff...

Im not really worried/focused on finding myself or a style, i just go out and shoot now when i can or whenever im bored or when i have an idea. ive realized that, THAT is what makes a style possible, just doing things. not contemplating on little details or themes to have in each photo. It feels that the shell of high school has been shed, and sure i may have learned things there, but the whole stigma and how social things are run is just not there anymore, like i have grown out of it which is quite a good feeling. because i am in a much better situation now with loving friends and TONS of support for my passions! couldnt ask for a better situation right now.

I have been sorta planning on going shooting with some friends anytime in the next month or so, so i will try to keep up and post when i have time/energy but it will happen dont you worry!

once again THANK YOU

~spencer

so, moments ago I just uploaded a new photo, and it is alright, just thought it looked interesting so id thought to share it. but as i looked at my gallery section of my profile, i still notice that i am just putting up random shots that peak my interest. I still have yet to find something to stick to. which is kind of frustrating because my adult life has just started ( I graduated high school a few days ago YAYY!!). I know I still have time, but i am just tired of misc photos being posted. idk just a nagging observation i had.

on a brighter note, i just purchased a Canon 40D and LOVE IT!!! much more pro than my rebel, I hope to make great use of it in the coming months. now my next mission (besides getting a job) is to find a suitable lens to go along with it. Any suggestions? I currently use a sigma 18-200 3.5-6.3 and a canon 50mm f1.8. ive been looking at the Canon 28-105mm 3.5-5.6.

As always, thanks for reading my rantings.

~Spencer

All of that with little to no formal training. just a few tips and things here and there. I dont know, it made me smile (not to sound arrogant or anything though). And recently I have been getting alot of attention as well, partly because my mom is always talking about my work to anyone she meets (she is so proud of me lol) and I try to show anyone who is interested as well.

And just recently passing 2,000 page views was awesome too, thank you everyone for the support!!

oh p.s.
ok so i was on some guys profile and he just so happens to believe in creationism, and has an article about Ben Stien's supposed "documentary". And as you can imagine a debate started up about the whole thing, and two commenters really summed up quite nicely about how creationism and intelligent design are not science.

"science is looking at evidence and making a theory out of it. Creationism is having a theory and trying to find evidence supporting it. No. It doesn't even do that. It tries to prove creationism by disproving evolution which if even if done well, doesn't work. And that part isn't even done well at all.

And thus, creation science is not science." -Duojagan

"science is about observing natural processes and creating theories to explain them. As soon as you bring the supernatural into the picture, it stops being science. It doesn't matter if it's god, ghosts, or telepathy. Supernatural entities can't be observed, measured, and controlled. They can't be part of a reproducible experiment, so they can't be tested. Without testing, there can be no support for a theory.

No amount of politicisation of education nor whining about religious persecution will ever make Intelligent Design or any other re-imaging of creation a real scientific theory. It's not persecution, it's just the way science works. Deal with it." -imroy

sry for being such a big post, but i think that ID and Creationism and the debates about them and evolution is somthing that really needs to be understood AND THEN HAVE THE RELIGIOUS INFLUENCE CRUSHED!!! LOL...because like these two fine deviants have said, CREATIONISM IS NOT SCIENCE!

thanks
~Spencer

so i guess if someone were to ask me what style of photography i like the most i would have to say either real places and people, like in a coffee shop or in a city just doing their thing , or abstract. because of how abstract lets the viewer think of what it means to them instead of being told what it may be. just some more random talk i guess....btw if you havnt seen already from my gallery i like to take pictures in black and white most of the time, i guess because of the way it makes images look more timeless that way, sometimes i wish that i was able to see in B/W for at least a day, idk sounds weird but just a dream of mine, yes it is a bit odd but that is me...

well...it has been a while from when i have done anything really artistic, like taking photos and drawing and stuff, idk i guess that school and life in general has really gotten in the way of all of that. but im hoping in the weeks to come i will become inspired again, like i used to be....with the help of the nice camera i want for christmas...Canon Digital Rebel XT. it is a bit pricey though, and the help of being christmas break and everyone coming over to visit ill get some good shots hopefully of the family. oh well only time will truly tell.
