Hello everyone,

I have a favor to ask. I am trying to learn sound editing for my intro to film and video class at UTA and i was wondering if anyways would be interested in sending me some voice clips. I wont be using these in any projects anytime soon, im mostly just playing around to get to know how things work, etc. Recording my own voice gets super old and doesnt add much diversity... Anyways, if you would like to, anything from a single phrase to a couple sentences would be nice. I'll give you my email if youre interested. Actually, if anyone has some website or something that i can find voice clips (not necessarily music, i gots plenty of that, but also because its a different story) that would be great too.

school is going well, im just really busy but i get on here every now and then. homework and school duties keep me away, but oh well.

i hope everyone is doing well! have a good day.

Im planning on buying a 13" macbook pro this saturday. i have little experience with macs so if anyone has any advice whatsoever, feel free to tell me!

Im preeeetty excited about school, since 28 of my high school credits transferred and im almost a sophomore! although im more excited about meeting new people and seeing what life is like outside of my very narrow experience.

As far as my job situation, i have little experience with cartooning, other than the occasional character doodlings i used to do as a kid. i think im pretty capable of it (because the job description isnt very demanding) but if anyone has any sort of reference materials, instruction books, comedic preferences or any other suggestions even mildly related to cartooning, dont hesitate to offer them.

I hope everyone has been doing well, im sorry i havent been very active lately. Theyre pretty awesome.

I will be buying something from an infomercial soon. I am now "18 or older to call"!

Oh, and by the way, a swine flu outbreak during your birthday really sucks. They shut down school for like a week, but that means that graduation is postponed and we might be going to school in June. I am so ready for this to all be over.
--
Besides it being my birthday, I havent really been very active on here lately because one of my friends left and im really sad about it. Im lucky to have so many other friends on here, but he was one of the reasons why DA was a really great community for me.

I recently watched Garden State (not bad) and Jin-Roh (pretty awesome) and I just got an iTunes card, so I will be buying some music very soon.
Im responding to anyone that watched me in order to find out the results of the public hearing that was called by my independant school district regarding the "banning" of Pillars of the Earth from my school's curriculum.

original thread -> [link]

that thread is poorly worded, now that i read back over it.

SO on this past monday, my independant school district called a public hearing. In this hearing, 6 people for the book and 6 people against the book gave speeches trying to make their points. The hearing began by prayer led by one of the parents against the book being in our school's senior english curriculum. Because she technically isn't an employee of the government, i dont think it's unconstitutional for her to lead us in prayer, but im still skeptical.

My town is somewhat small, i guess, so the room for the hearing was not big enough for the amount of press that his story had recieved. I got there early, and even then i didnt have a chair to sit in. Me and the people i went with tried to dress nicely so that we wouldn't be a detriment to our "cause".

The speeches were actually pretty coherent for the most part. Of course there was an over-zealous and misinformed performance on both sides, but thats alright because i think thats part of why i wanted to go.

there were two main points made by the group against having the book on the reading list for dual credit/AP senior english:
1) There was no parental notification or consent given for this book to be read by the students that had the option to read it. It is important for parents to give consent to any material that might be objectionable

this kind of makes sense, i will admit. Except that some of the kids in the class were (and are now) 18 at the time of reading the book. They dont even need their parents consent to drop out of school, right? As for the 17 year olds; in Texas, the age of consent is 17 years old. We can have sex but we cant read sexually explicit material? Uh, ok.
Anyways, my teacher sent out a note discussing the sexual and violent nature of the book WAY before we read it. Technically, we didnt have to show this to our parents, which i think my teacher should change. But there was AMPLE warning beforehand about the book and its content. Besides, there was another option. No one was forced in any way to read the book whatsoever.

2) This material is a) pornographic and b) unsuitable for this age group. It therefore has no place in a school.

Wrong. pornography = something made for the sole purpose of sexual arousal. If you read the book and analyze is, you will notice that the sexual parts have a role in the book other than being sexual. I wont explain how they are important, because if you're an adult and you can't interpret what an author is trying to convey to you, then how are you supposed to tell ME that IM too young to handle this book? s'all im saying.

i believe i discussed b) a little while ago.
Also, this book was read during the summer, which means that technically, it never had to touch school grounds. I'll touch on that more in a minute.

Those were the major points of the negative side. I agree that parents of minors should be notified for objectionable content, etc. but that's really the only problem with this situation.

The major points that the group for keeping the book on the reading list for dual credit/AP senior english were:
1) We are mature enough to handle this book

Meh, this is easily arguable on both sides. It really just depends. Most of the people i know that have read the book have handled it well.

2) This book was read during the summer

This probably sounds like an invalid point. But it is actually kind of integral to the Pro position. This was during the summer, so there was no day-to-day contact of students discussing the book. You didnt have to reveal which book you read, in fact. By the first day of school, our work with summer reading was way over. If you didnt want to, you in no way had to divulge any information regarding what you did for summer reading. At all. You therefore could not feel peer pressure into reading or not reading the book. This also means that the book never had to leave your house; it didnt even come on school grounds. One man against the book tried to argue that if a student was found with the book at school, it is explicit enough that it would be confiscated and the student would be reprimanded. Also wrong: the book is in our library, and even if it wasnt, theres a chance no one would even bring the book to school.

3) "When this book was assinged, me and my child/parent sat down and talked about the book/assignment together"

HEY THERES AN IDEA
if you're so interested in what you're kid is lea...

Plus, this way i can use different colors, and do specific backgrounds for each person that orders it. Custom shtuff.
But i should add that the telephone pole in the picture was drawn on there. no stencil for that.

Im thinking about it because i kind of need money, and this piece seems to be fairly popular in my gallery so i thought it might sell. plus its the only piece that i have a stencil for so its not like i canrecreate any of the others.

This isnt official; ive got school and art class and college preparation going on right now so i dont know if i will be too busy to process this as well. If youre interested, let me know, and if enough people are interested i will seriously consider it.
Just watched Millenium Actress yesterday, and i have to say, it was phenomenal. Very sad though, especially the ending. I think thats the first movie where the animation blew me away, but the story blew me away at the same time. Oh them japs.
the ending song by Susumu Hirasawa was very nice too. I need to download some of his stuff.

Anyways, i have recently been feeling pretty lame because i am about to graduate from high school, and i still have the worst music collection ever. its gotten better as the years have gone by, but my dial up internet has always inhibited me from exploring new stuff. I have a friend who lets me use his computer for buying stuff from iTunes whenever i have one of those iTunes cards, so i will be utilizing that as much as possible. the problem is, its really overwhelming when you have so much to choose from. so, i thought it would be great if anyone who wants to can suggest some specific songs or albums, so that whenever i have the opportunity to go buy music, i will know exactly what i want, which in turn will make building my music library a little easier. I know bands and such, i just dont know enough ABOUT them, so any specific suggestions you can give me would be great. or even if you want to just tell me about a band in general, thats cool too. im just desperate to broaden my horizons.

also:
-school is going well, im taking a studio art class which is the best evar.
-my job at the city pool ended because, well, its not summer anymore, so thats nice, though i wont be getting paid no more.
-i regularly blast OOIOO's "UMO" in my car just to see how the cowboys from school will react. so far it has been quite rewarding
-the economy is basically imploding, so we'll see if the next president can help us out of this hole we're in.
-its finally cooling off over here

hope youre all having a nice day.

I really dont want to do this, but im hearing more and more about people getting ripped off, or stolen from, and i dont know if that would ever happen to me, but I'd rather not risk it in the first place. Sorry, i suppose. :C

Im really ready for the summer to end. Im getting kind of tired of my job, and ive got two awesome art classes lined up for my senior year. Im very prepared to start my senior year. Im so glad to get my final year of public school out of the way. Plus school starting means fall is just about to begin. i am very ready for that.

i recently got Arcade Fire's "Neon Bible", which i really love.

also, i know i commented on this like 2 months ago, and im sure most people probably dont realllly care, but i am uploading a new series of like 8-10 pictures onto DA in just a few days. maybe a bit longer than that. but anyways, i really havent been slacking off, there are just many variables involved in getting artwork onto my page. the main variable is that i am the last person on earth to have a dial-up internet connection.

anyways, i hope everyone's sumer has been going well.
have a nice day!

A: fairly awesome.

yesterday was my first day of work at my city's local water park. its a small little water park with two different kinds of water slides, a small interactive water-covered jungle gym and a lazy river. the lazy river used to be really awesome and hella fast, but they had to slow it down a bit because small children were at risk of drowning. but its all good.

my job position is Customer Attendant, which just means that anyone that comes to splash station can bitch to me about anything, and i have to deal with it/do something about it. that sucks, but for the most part people werent so horrible, which is good. plus, i get paid 7 dollars an hour, so i dont really care what the customers problem is, because come payday, im getting like 300+ dollars. shweeeeeeet.

yesterday all i did was bagcheck. after people buy their admissions tickets (which went up this year because our economy sucks) they come to me and i have to rudely stop them and rummage through their bags for contraband. they cant come into the water park with:
-outside food
-outside drink, including water bottle, UNLESS its for their infant (wtf are you bringing your infant to a water park) or if they have a medical condition.
-cigarettes, or any kind of tobacco products.
-guns, knives, pepperspray (people tried to bring these things in here before)
-they cant bring their floaties/waterwings if they arent coastguard approved
-snorkels
-this weird kind of goggles that i havent dealt with before

so, naturally, all day i had to deal with people saying "WHY CAINT I BRANG THAT IN HAR" and "I AINT GON SMOKE MAH CIGS". you know, all that jazz.
again, 7 dollars an hour, i didnt really care. i was just like "sorry, its our policy, get over it".
plus, telling people that they cant have certain things in the park gives me a mild sense of power, which is fun. nothing really bad happened; everything went fairly smoothely. it was a good job for me to do on my first day.

it was really hot outside, which sucks, but im working at a pool so if i really need to i guess i can just go and walk through the water fountains that are throughout the park.

another thing i found out is that there is a fair amount of elitism between the lifeguards and the customer attendants. all the lifeguards stick together, and all the customer attendants stick together. like fucking rival gangs or something. i thought that was hilarious. whats even funnier about the situation is that we all know each other from school, so its not like all these people are strangers. i know just about everyone there. but as soon as we get to work, its like we have to be loyal to our respective groups. haha.

oh, AND i get free food. i can have 1 free food item and 1 free drink item during the day, every day. but after we close and the concession stand is all closed up, we can go in there and eat any leftover food for free. all of my immediate family gets into the park for free, but i dont think im going to tell them that.

so overall, it was a really busy day, but it wasnt so hard. it wasnt intimidating at all. the people i work with are really nice, and i get a break every hour which is great. i learned a lot, so the whole working environment isnt so foreign anymore.

if any customer attendant-on-lifeguard fights go down, i'll update you.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and Holiday season! well, i suppose the holidays arent completely over, but whatevs. i hope you all had a super time!

I finally updated all eleven of my newest deviations today. these are kind of like my presents to anyone who has watched me, or whoever wants to view my page. thanks for a great six months on DA!

i didnt really write very long explanations on each of the pictures, but thats because it took long enough to upload them, and the weather today was that weird hazy-lethargic sunny kind of weather. so i was kind of out of it. i will try to upgrade them and include any kind of interesting information under the deviation descriptions later. when i want to.

id love to hear what everyone got for Christmas, if you feel like informing me.

I got a new camera, some paints, some brushes, some rubber shapers, some canvas and a drawing board. there are other things, but those are the big ones.
oh, and i got Xenosaga I and II and i havent stopped playing them since.
tomorrow im going to see if i can buy shin megami tensei: digital devil saga and cubivore.

alright, thats all for now. i hope you all have a nice day.
he does multi-media assemblage pieces with great color and concepts. just great artwork. pretty much every time he does something new it astounds me. i saw that he only has 6000 pageviews, showing that he has not been very well recieved compared to his talent. really, go check him out and fav everything.

i also got tired of my previous journal entry, so i decided to update.

i havent been working on anything for a long time, which is something i hate to admit. i am really too busy with school and everything. its the first year that ive had homework EVERY night, and that is not fun. plus ive been trying to read a lot of books, and just make sure that im not wasting my time. although, i guess i could be not wasting my time by painting... but i hadnt thought that far ahead. meh.

although, in art class we are working on self portraits and i am getting very very close to being done. once i get it graded and returned to me, i will try to post it, i suppose. im rather proud of it, even though it is a little off. its my first self portrait ive eer done before, though. i was hoping that my first self-portrait would be something more abstract or symbolic... but not so. oh well. anyways, thats all that im working on right now, and i will try to post it.
oh, and i have a painting that im attempting to get done, but im not sure that it will get any farthe along any time soon.

i have to go. new south park tonight. have a super day.

if you havent been to their tour so far, they used this neon piano with LED lights that light up when the lead singer presses the keys. and they had these giant balloons that they throw into the crowd that have confetti in them when you pop them. and gigantic tv screens. augh, so amazing.

the opening bands were Immigrant, who i thought was alright, and juliette and the licks, who were pretty bad. but juliette lewis is kind of famous, so that was interesting to see her in person. she wore hardcore tight leather pants. :\

i went to the kimbell art museum in fort worth today. their exhibit was called "portraiture in the age of picasso". it was all of these portraits that had been painted around the time that picasso was influencing art. there were paintings from picasso (obviously), braque, gauguin, van gogh, derain, oskar kokoschka, giocometti (i think...), matisse, miro, schiele, juan gris, and even some from francis bacon! i was blown away. there were over 100 paintings to look at; it was overwhelming. i learned so much just from looking at the paintings. ive never really liked portrait painting, but this exhibit has given me a new perspective.

i got tired of my other journal entry. i should really start a written journal here at home, but im so emotionally lethargic all the time that writing a journal really has no positive return for me. eh, whatevs.

im reading "the poisonwood bible" and i think its quite good. The character that sometimes writes things backwards and in palindromes, adah, fascinates me the most. shes so pessimistic sometimes, it makes me feel happy. otherwise, the book is mildly uninteresting because its just about a missionary family that goes to the congo. The father is basically a Christian radical who is crazy, and thats one of the central elements of the book. its written pretty well, but i get bored of things too quickly. i am going to finish the book though, just so i can get back into my old school-time routine of reading books. i used to try to read a book a day, and the books would be at least 100 pages long. thats not really a big deal, but it still made me feel proud. i once read 4 books in one week, and they were all at least like 150 pages.

i think i will write a list of recommended books.
I, robot- so much better than the movie. nothing like it.
Life of Pi- this one isnt so amazing, but i still like it
The perks of being a wallflower- a must read. no seriously, one of my ult fav books
The westing game- a rediculously smart murder mystery.
The pigman- a kind of cheesy but relatively charming book about pseudo-charity. you kind of have to read it to understand. its pretty short.

i cant think of any others. ive read more than that, but im rarely ever impressed with a book. that list was compiled over the course of several years. but anyways.

oh, also, read death note.

3-tags should write a journal/ blog of these facts
4-at the end of the post 8 more persons are tagged and named
5-go to their page and leave a comment telling them they’ve been ‘tagged’
-------------
im not so into these kinds of things, but im flattered that somone would tag me, so i will do this.

1. i cut my own hair
2. i wear glasses even though i dont need them. its just fun.
3. i shop at goodwill for old people clothes that are fly.
4. i collect textbooks.
5. i can read katakana and hiragana, but i cant translate them into english.
6. i can read/write shorthand.
7. i constantly have an inner monologue going on in my head. like in "scrubs".
8. i once made a spoof on the "lord of the rings" trilogy using beanie babies.

i wont tag 8 people, because i doubt that they would do it. plus, i dont know how to do that things where you make the persons avatar show up. anyways.

hmmm, im a little tired of my previous entry. i think i will update.

i decided that i would write an angry journal entry and see how many people i can get to hate me. heres a list of things that suck!

if you dont like repetition or are looking for something interesting, then just ignore this and go back to watching naruto or making your crappy fanart.

Hannah montana sucks.
the suite life of zack and cody sucks.
high school musical one and two suck.
the disney channel has no one with talent, and it sucks.

iphone sucks
ipod sucks
apple is monopolizing the market for mp3 players and is becoming a corporate giant and therefor sucks.

tofu and sushi are not good. they are soy byproducts and uncooked fish with seaweed. they suck.
japan is not awesome, it is merely another country in the world that does certain things better than we do. it sucks.
anime is usually boring/repetitive/horrible drawn/pathetically unoriginal/super repetitive and it sucks.
jpop and other forms of japanese music are disgusting. people of japanese origin rarely have musical talent. the only good japanese music is the music done by comoposers. everything else sucks.

emo and "punk" bands like MCR, red jumpsiut apparatus, and the used are HORRIBLE. they suck.
new pop music from vh1 and mtv sucks.
rap, r&b, and hip-hop are just recycled ideas, and new food-themed euphemisms that refer to sexual acts that are rediculously boring. it all sucks.
p diddy, r. kelly, and jay-z are not moguls or business gurus. they are merely people with stage presence who have fooled others into believing that they are good at what they do, and have gained a huge following. they suck.

status symbols are sickening and everyone uses them. they suck.
our country is filthy, materialistic, wasteful, crude and obsessed with paris hilton. we suck.
you spent your time reading this whole list. you suck.
i failed my driving test today and almost got in a wreck. i suck.

i hope you all learned a lesson.

also, i have gotten custody of several of my old pieces, and i will post them as soon as i get to a computer with an SD card slot in it. i think you will enjoy them. everyone, that is.
i hate pronouns.

to top it all off, how about a list? everybody loves lists!

the 7 deadly sins
7. hannah montana. no talent, so dont pretend.
6. any anime that a 10 year old has ever come in contact with. and most anime shown on adult swim. and most anime. and japan.
5. myspace. tom is a communist
4. canada
3. avril lavigne.
2. anyone who knows the name of avril's new cd.
1. anyone who has ever kept up with anything relating to avril lavigne.
-1. the disney channel.

I recently changed the size of the photos of my work. i realized that i had set them too large and so i changed them back to a smaller size.
also, please forgive my photo quality ahead of time. im not sure if i will ever be able to post better quality because my computer is so slow, and i have no access to a faster computer. but anyways... I will try to improve every aspect of this page over time.
im working on a portrait of Gloria Vanderbilt based on a photo i found of her. It is being painted in oil, (which i am not very good at) so its more like practice than anything. also im working on an acrylic piece that could turn out badly. im not on a very good painting streak here.
but whatever. we will see how they go. ive got lots of other projects in the planning stages, plus ive got my previous work (50+ paintings/drawings) that i will try to retrieve from my friend and photograph. ive got a lot of work to do.

I could be going to a Muse concert this september! Warped tour was this weekend, and i kind of missed my opportunity to get tickets and stuff. oh well. its mostly for delusional pre-teens who think theyre raging against the machine. I think warped tour has a lot of cool bands on the bill, but the people that go usually only attend for the big bands like AFI or MCR. I could be wrong about this though... im a little insensitive when it comes to... well, everything.

My parents are on a cleaning crusade throughout the house. Its rediculous. Every sunday they make us (and they participate too) clean the house. Really, its pointless because we keep the house so clean that it only needs the work every few months. I just tell them i clean my room, and then i wait until it really needs it. I think the last time i really dusted my room was like seven months ago. im such a rebel.
Cleaning bores me so much. Its stupid; once you finish it, all you have to do is wait a while and you have to do it again! why dont you just put it off until you REALLY need to clean? take care of more important things like getting your work done, or bettering yourself through education, read a book or something!
Cleaning is just low on my priorities. BFD

wow. i love this site.
since im so new to this whole thing, ive been clicking "random deviant" for the past hour or so, and ive been intrigued and enthralled just about evry time the page changes. a few of my favorites so far are sphilr and iarart. although i am upset at the overwhelming amount of trashy fanart (even if its khII art, no matter how much i love it...) i am surprised at how many genius creators there are on this site! its amazing. huzzah.
im still searching. and still attempting to get photos on my page, but whatever. i'd like to meet lots of new people and see lots of new work. im really excited.
if anyone would like to share work or comment on my stuff (as soon as it gets on here) that would be great. im just trying to become a contributing part of Deviantart.com

Ugh, i have dial-up internet so i wont be able to upload any pictures until i can get to another computer (that has dsl or something) and load them from there. I also need to paint some more, but im not sure what to do. If you have a suggestion of what i should do next, i might try it (if its interesting).
