Hi everyone! hope your halloween was all fine and dandy! Just a little update in my life, tomorrow my school is having opening night of our first drama production! yay! But, we still lack a theater, so we are performing in our drama room. But being a stage manager is fun . In other news, Christmas is just around the corner (according to all the department stores) So i decided to post a little something i saw It is a little christmas Wish List i saw on one of my DA friend's journals

THE BASICS: write a Christmas/Holiday wish list. It can be any 10 wishes you'd like to have granted, no matter what they are. Possible or seemingly impossible. People look and grant the wishes if they can. It's not about "OMFG PRESENTS", it's about making someone else's holiday a little brighter by giving. Personally, I get more out of giving than receiving sometimes. It's just a good feeling to give.

STEP ONE

** Make a post in your journal. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

** If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. In this case, you can always just note someone on dA.

** Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your journal, so that others can join in and participate to spread the holiday joy!

STEP TWO

** Surf around your friend list to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

** If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

** You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Any ways, so my mom went and i will just say now that i am NEVER! N.E.V.E.R. GOING TO EVER TAKE MY MOTHER TO A PLAY AGAIN! This was the first play for once she actually paid for (i paid for her tickets all the other times) But every time we go to the theatre we get in a disagreement. For this time she was actually excited to see it, she was looking forward to it (plus she had a thing for one of the actors in it). But behold my mother for the 50 time has attempted to quit smoking, on this BLOODY DAY! So mom - smokes= super grumpy bitch. So she gets off work to see this right? And we have to drive to grass valley (which she knew she had to do) all they way up there she is complaining how far she has to drive, and how i should be driving by now (I could if she did not loose my pink slip, birth certificate, and social security card!)So we finally get there! And we go inside to see the play, she wants to sit front row center. I dont cause it is a terrible place to watch a show, and we get in a disagreement about sitting. then it is 5 minutes past 8 and she is saying "When the hell is the god damn show going to start?!". All through the first act she is texting some guy she met on the internet, and sighing and huffing and puffing. Then at intermission (it is 9:30) and she starts yelling at me about the next act being 45 min. Like i could know! There was no estimated time on this play on line! And then she tells me that i guilted her into this, and how she never wanted to come. And she says "we are not going to stay for the rest of this!" and i tell her fine, then she doesnt like my attitude. and tells me "You can stay i dont give a shit, walk home." And she heads for the exit. Mean time, i go to the bathroom in tears (curse me and my sensitivity ) and some lady asks me if im ok, while im trying to figure out in my head well if dad cant pick me up, then in the worser situation beg my teacher for a ride home. So i go to sit down cause act 2 is starting, and my mom comes in at the last minute before intermission ends and tells me she cant do this anymore, and that she cant handle all this theatre stuff in my life. then says a bullshit sorry and pretends that nothing ever happened. The play ends, i say a quick hello to my teacher then get in the car with mom who says she is never doing this again and bitches the whole way home -_-...

But summer will start to pick up by next friday, for that is when events start to happen! Huzzah! Next friday im seeing my drama teacher in his play, it will be interesting none the less to see the person who taught me acting, acting. I'll just have to keep mom at a distance (some of you know why XP) And then that sunday i start up at River Stage Woot! then Coldplay, movie madness avec jen, camping, and shakespeare in the park. So in july i have like 9 days im not doing something. Huzzah no more boredom!

Speaking of Shakespeare. I have a new little obsession with Hamlet XD it is just such an awesome story! I have watched countless film versions, and started reading it. But i just cant get enough of it xD.

There were some negatives though, such as Timon's costume. The puppet was great! but the person controlling the puppet was in a bright green suit...and all the setting was pretty much neutral browns, yellows, ect. So that was a bit distracting. Also during a point where they dropped a curtain for a scene the person who played Zuzu said "looks like a shower curtain from target" and it got laughs sure, but it just took me out of the show for a second. Also they did lots of jokes during serious parts. i was guessing because it was a kid's show, but it just kinda killed the moment for me... And i just noticed little flaws here and there. Mic problems, costume issues. and dont get me started on sound and clarity of some characters...

Geeze it sounds like after listing that i hated it. But no it was cute and i liked it. Not the best but cute ^^.

So tomorrow is the last day of school. and i am excited, yet not excited at the same time. sigh. Oh well.

SO! Summer plans, i have some frickidysplickin awesome news! Thanks to my awesome drama teacher i now will be volunteering at a theater called River Stage for part of the summer! yay! It almost did not happen at all, because my parents were so stupid (my mom and dad) and decided to just talk to each other on the phone about summer plans and did not consult anyone else (i.e. My stepmom, my sister and I) so then my mom told me "If its on a thurday or friday you cant to it at all" So i was like WTF?! and i talked to my (new)stepmom heather and told her and she was like "yeah, no one ever consulted me so it is not final" Plus she knows what it is like to volunteer/intern at a place of interest cause she did it when she was my age and she understands it is important for me to get experience. (even if she does not like me doing theatre) So she said she would drive me when i have to go there (cause it is closer to my mom's house, and my dad's house is like 40 minuets away from it)

Also i get to go camping! yay! By the beach actually which is ok (i prefer the mountains) my theatre work will also take place during the camping schedule so heather said she will work that out too ^_^.

So over all as a list plans for the summer:

My mom really wanted to make it up to me since i did not have my own room, and i was supost to get my room redone as my birthday present the year before. so i recently got my own room again, and she really went out with it. from Broadway to 42st. to China town and the village.

Hahaha, i find myself having a hard time deciding which is better and every day i keep debating which is better going deep in to the stories plays, and adaptations. but a wise person once told me "Les Mis and Phantom are both so great that they can not even compare." and i cant seem to accept that, and try to seek which is better for logical purposes.

Simple enough. Over the summer time i literally go to bed when the sun begins to rise and wake when the moon sets to the sky.

I have a whole folder of animal drawings but i never bothered to post them, just dont feel like it. I have everything from fish to antelope. Cause i love all the animals! And JACKALOPES ARE REAL!

Hahaha, yes. Since i have no life and read all day. I read over 10,000 pages in class. and my class mates did not seem surprised since my nose was always buried in a book during class.

This one should not be a surprise either. I want to be a stage director, it is my dream to one day direct a show on Broadway. I do everything i can to learn any scrap of information on Directing. I want to go to NYC to study it in college. i know it is a difficult and stressful job. but this is something i see myself wakening up each day saying "i can not wait to go to work today" so maybe one day you will see me on the Tony's or be in my show. so i wont forget the little people on DA who listen to my ramblings.

Sweeney

Sweeney was completely amazing. Mark Jacoby was excellent, voice was perfect for the role, and his acting was perfect in character for Sweeney. he was a bit stiff to choreography, and dare i saw it fidgety... but he was great. Max Von Essen was in my eyes the best Anthony Hope i have ever heard. He was able to show the love Anthony has for Johanna flawlessly. but he did fumble on his lines a little on a few songs. But he was still good. Mary Gordan Murray, who had the role of Mrs. Lovett was astounding, her actions had the audience rolling in the aisles with laughter. Her and Mark were very well casted together, lots of good chemistry. and lets not forget the Ensemble! They were very well rehearsed, you could really tell. and they had the ideal people for each role.

As for the stage door. Mark RAN from the stage door. Literally! i have no idea why. But i got to meet others and they were all very kind. Gosh, i need to practice talking to people. Poor Max Von Essen was my warm up, i was blushing like crazy and nervous as i could be. i dont know why i get like that, but i do. And it was funny, i ran in to actors that were in the ensemble last season. and they remembered me and they were asking me "ok, who did i play?" and i got i right. It is always fun talking to people you already know. but it was fun.

In very, very bad news. The Theatre for my new high school will not be done being built until half way through my jounior year! that totally sucks! No theatre!

And Jason Mills is no longer the phantom, which i had no idea about. so i did not get to give him a drawing. But they were all amazing. After the show i went to the stage door and there was a big group of people just standing there i was like "Huh, this is more than i expected at a stage door" well they give tours after the show of behind stage, I could have gone. but i could not see my mom. But glad i did not because i would not have met the actors if i did go. i was talking to D.C. Anderson about directing and i found out i could "direct" Phantom if i become a director and get hired. So that was surprising to me! I got a bunch of pictures, but only 2 pictures turned out.... darn camera. But i love phantom and i hope i can see it again some day.

And... I cried when he sang music of the night (for reasons most of you know). and Wow, it was amazing. so after the concert i was escorted backstage. so i am back there and i ran in to Susan Egan. Sweet as could be. She was really nice, and wants me to email the pictures i took to her. while talking to her out come a tall, scruffy man eating an apple. The one and only Hugh Panaro. (And i still kept my cool... surprisingly) so he sees me and says "are you Shelby?" i nod my head yes. "Oh thank you so much for that note. I am fighting laryngitis right now, and that note really help me get through the show." "You flew all the way out from California to see this?" me "yes" him "wow" and i kinda forget what happens here, cause we talked for a while. but i was telling him about how much Paula (the site admin for HPN.net) has been a help with me finding how i could meet him, an i told him about my biography i wrote. He LOVED the drawing i did for him. "WOW, you drew this!" was what he said ^_^. and kept talking to him about theatre and stuff and tell him i want to be a director, and how much he has influenced and impacted my life with his music. when i left he said "good luck directing." Wow, now i HAVE to do all i can to be a director. You never know, maybe i will direct a show he will be in one day! but he made a really nice note in my program and that was that. So AFTER i met him i had my goof moment.

What i have been doing using several of the 33 pictures of the TV i took when watching the les miserables TAC to use as phone wallpapers. I have been in a Javert mood lately. Speaking of Les Mis HUGH PANARO has the role of Jean Valjean at the Walnut street theatre in Philadelphia. Yay! it will be in May- August. GO Hugh!

The other day i noticed something really cool. Ok as you may know Tarzan was my first Broadway musical. An i was flipping through the playbill the other day and noticed Rob Evan was in in. well Rob Evan is one of my favourites and i could not believe i saw him and did not even notice it! But back then basically the only theatre people i knew were Hugh Panaro, Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman. shows how much more obsessed i have grown. Well i am out i am going to get some rest

Besides getting a really cool documentary on Broadway from my aunt Deb i get to go to Denver! to see the Broadway Concert that Hugh Panaro is in! i am so excited to see that, even if he might have to cancel for some reason, i am still stoked to see my aunt and have some fun in Denver. hope every one had a Holly Jolly Holidays, and have a Happy New Year!

It says it will have him perform and star the concert with Melissa Errico at the Colorado Symphony. so this show is on a Saturday, and my aunt who is a flight attendant lives in Denver. she gives me an my family "Buddy Passes" when we travel so i can get FREE air fair and i can fly out on Friday night get to Denver Saturday morning. see the show with my Aunt because me and her love Broadway and they are going to perform songs from her favourite musical CATS. so i get to see Hugh Perform, possibly meet him. and have a blast in Denver with my Aunt Debbie. and get back at school on Monday sound like a good plan? i actually think this might work!
