Hello all my loverly Devious friends!

About two months into my summer home in Boston. I'm itching to go back to Utah, to the big open sky, the mountains reaching towards the sky, the nice warm, dry climate (though as of late I've heard it's been rather wet), and the amazing people who live there. Part of my yearning to return is my joblessness, and resulting aimlessness. *sigh* Still looking for a job, as are so many others. I'm considering opening up for commissions to get a little bit of cashflow, soooo *waggles eyebrows* Do let me know if you'd like to commish, and we will bargain on the price!

In other news, I've been taking private and group ballroom lessons at Boston Ballroom Dance Center with Peter Kovacs and Marisa Panos to prepare for the BYU Ballroom Team audition in the fall. I had my first competition at the Yankee Classic in Cambridge. I competed in Bronze International Cha Cha and Rumba, and I placed First in all four of my dances! I'm so excited! Now I have two more months of Standard technique to prepare for the waltz and american cha cha.

A few artistic updates. My dad got me some BEAUTIFUL ink pens, and I'm really nervous to try them out. You can see his work in his gallery - it's flipping amazing. I'm working on my pen-and-ink technique, and should have some cougars up pretty soon. Yes, cougars. What else would I draw, coming from BYU?

I'm also going to start a collaboration with my dear friend . He just bought a GORGEOUS new camera, and we're planning some awesome shots with him and his basses. Plus some. Can you believe he's letting me even get close to the shiny new camera? O_o

I PROMISE I will finish the quetzalcoatl soon! And I am planning a fun stargazing/astronomy/starry oil painting series. And I need to work on my manga-style drawing technique. Because honestly, I can't draw japanese for beans. And all those doodles I told you about? Coming soon.

Thank you all for your support and faves and comments! *hugs for everyone!*

~ Harbour

Hey everyone! I'm back home in Boston with my fambly. This also means I have current control of the drawing tablet. Mwahaha. I'll be here for about 4 months. I miss Utah a lot - the big open sky, the friends I've made, the people, the atmosphere, BYU, it's quite a lot. I'll be pretty busy this summer though. I have several oil paintings planned. They'll be a surprise Also! I have two pieces of artwork that I haven't uploaded yet, but I left them in Utah D: Sad day. You'll just have to wait four months. I also have a plethora of doodles to upload to scraps. They're fun and cute - mostly cats, tigers, and Coraline fanart.

CORALINE WAS AMAZING I SAW IT THREE TIMES. I SOOOO want the DVD when it comes out. It is an incredible masterpiece of technical wonders and mind boggling artistry. The music is amazing - a Hungarian children's choir singing French nonsense, plus a little They Might Be Giants XD The story is a perfect blend of creepy and fantasy. There is a certain morbid, ironic humor that seemed totally perfect for the movie. That's what you get with a Neil Gaiman story

I'll be here all summer! <3

For those of you who know me in real life, I am quite well known in my friend circle for my long, long hair. It's always been long, ever since I was a kid. I've never had more than 3 inches trimmed. Yesterday, I decided to be a rebellious ol' college student. I let my independence get to me, and I had a whole 10 inches chopped off! HAHA! As such, many of my friends from home are going to kill me. *sigh* It's fun though! A lot easier to take care of.
Schoolwork is driving me into the ground, which explains the lack of traditional work updates. I have more photography, but I'd like to edit them sometime. I've been doodling here and there with charcoal and such, which is a nice stress reliever. I have a few commissions lined up, screaming to be put on paper, as well as a few Christmas gift drawings. Let's see if I get to any of them! 8D
I'm going insaaaane! Wheeee!!

Cheers.
Harbour

PS Check out ~torchf15! <-- amazing pen and ink drawings of fighter jets and such! go go go!

Soooo...I got my license about a week and a half ago. I love driving! It's really nice because my parents don't have to drive me around everywhere and they can use their freed up time to do the stuff they need to. And I can help out driving my sisters around, too. Oh the possibilities!
Onto a more artsy note. Over Feb. vacation, I made a ton of Egyptian jewelry, mostly earrings. I couldn't make a collar or necklace because I don't have enough beads, so I'll have to order more. I'm also making some spiral brass and copper jewelry, snagging some wire here and there from the metalworking room at school. They should turn out really nice. I also just got my handles for my teapot! I attatched it and it looked really neat and antique and chinesey. I'll post pictures of everything later.
In Adv. Draw & Paint, we are doing a long term observational drawing. Mine is a random collection of blue glass objects and some dried roses. The roses were difficult but fun to draw, but I'm scared of coloring the glass. With colored pencils no less.
I'm also almost done with my knitted backpack, and will post when it's done.
I am now going to frolic in the snowfall.

First of all, news!

I was accepted into BYU Provo on December 18th! WHooooo! I'm extremely excited to be going there in the fall! I have a lot of friends that already go there, and I can't wait to begin school there and dive into life in Utah. I still don't know how to ski...or snowboard...I guess I'll have to learn quickly!

In other news, the art department at my school nominated my vase to enter into the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Competition 2008. It's a slab piece with vines going up the four sides. It's taken me 3 months (hour-long classes every other school day) to complete. The test tiles took a while... I am very happy with it! I'll post pictures when I get them.

I also had another beautiful coil pot, but it kindof exploded. I'll post pictures of the fragments when I get around to it. XP It was shaped like a flying saucer, but underglazed teal with yellow swirlies on the top half. Here's what happened: The teacher put it into the kiln to have it low fired, but when she programmed it, it accidentally switched to a previous setting and it heated up to quickly and everything that was greenware exploded. My tiles were rescued though.

Aaaand...for Christmas I got a digital camera!!! I promised to use it to document my upcoming college experience. I'm also anticipating using it for artsy photographic purposes. I'm awed by the talented photographers on DA and I want to be able to capture beauty in such a honest and detailed way. Maybe I should read the instruction manual....

Enjoy the snow!
