time flies as i age...but not soon enough!

then again, i only want to be 21 so i can actually go into bars with friends. looking 3 years younger than my age can be tough at this point of my life.

/end rant about having old friends.

ANYWAYS...

week three into the new quarter and i'm already swamped[ish]!! good thing is that i have art history, a class i took a far more intense version of back in hs, so i have AT LEAST 4 hours a week to draw. getting them onto the computer is the tricky part. i also now have maya at home, which alleviates a great amount of stress as well. maybe i should actually upload some of that stuff?

this quarter i shall be only be working on maya character animations as self projects and i have what i'm calling a pre-senior project where the entire class of 12 is collaborating on a group project...but mixed feelings/opinions on the subject make me not very likely to post work for.

in other news, over half of the game crazys [hollywood video's version of gamestop] are being liquidated. in case you didn't know/forgot, i work there. luckily my store is on the safe list, but i'm still leery.

was in town for a very short week and then i had a ~~sweltering~~ spiffy little trip down to mississippi over the weekend. around these two events i have been swamped with work and school, hence me not getting the rest of my memes done or posting really anything else. i HAVE been working on some big projects for school, such as an animation, a 3d character in maya, as well as a little camera work for a background i created. hopefully i'll have some of these up before the next six weeks are up. then i have fall break, yes.

in other news, i am still very open for commissions and have been searching out potential cities i'll be finding work at within the next 1.5-2 years. scary, yes? thank you career development class.

yeah, it sounds like i may be jumping the bandwagon...even though i've been considering it for a good chunk of this year. in order to do this i'll have to set up a paypal account, but i'm not going to put in the energy until i know it's going to be worth my time.

i figured i would sell character drawings in my various styles as line arts as well as finished products. from there, i will offer cg or detailed shading...sound good? with this extra cash i should be able to help save up for my apartment, or better yet, cs4!! i've also considered mailing high quality prints and/or the original line work [though i dunno why you'd want that with how messy i work. ]

to make matters worse, i know everything could be TONS worse, but still i feel overwhelmed. i wish this whole growing up thing wouldn't be so dang annoying, and we coudl just get enough money to get an apartment and be on our own. then i wouldn't feel like a total mooch and i wouldn't have to worry about my puppy. we were going to go three way on an apartment, but the third person is now getting married so she can stay with her boyfriend in cali while he's doing the whole military thing...and i really don't want to wait until september. i need a shower and a hug, but chuck is at work and i feel wierd about using holly's shower...even though it's totally nice and everything. i know everything is going to be ok and everything, but i really hate waiting...

if you read this, congrats, i guess. i just needed to get it out. once a new quarter starts, everything will change and i'll feel better again. plus, it'll be nice out and i won't feel so crappy all the time. i can take puppy for walks and she'll be ok, too. until then, i just have to endure and wait...but damn it'd be easier if everything didn't seem like such a struggle.

speaking of stress, i still am a firm believer that it is NO excuse for negative public behavior. if you attended my friday morning class, you probably know what i am talking about already. if some of us spent less time bitching and more time working on hw, there'd be a LOT less drama. i have no idea how all of it is benifiting us anyways...class is just being disrupted and stomachs get upset. first time class at a different school means total imperfection. please listen, do what your told, and stfu and we'll all get along just fine. if only i had the balls to say that and then some when i need to, eh?

forgot to mention that i had my own relapse because of a class, but i did not take it out on the teacher or other students. instead i took a deep breath, apologized to my loved ones who where around and kept on trucking. i finished in far less than 40 hours!!

i used to have a horrid fear of adult men and i guess i never got over it completely...that and i hate drama. and disrespectfulness. and apologies are key...don't ranting for now, eh?

anyways, i have actually created goals, yes i'm totally serious, for myself this quarter. it kinda started on my way home from class fri, but it hit me hard while i attempted some drawings for my sketchbook last night--i'm pretty much awful at drawing rl humans. i can totally get the figure down...but the "easy parts" [aka the details like eyes, fingernails, etc.] are killing me. i don't know if it's because of my lack of confidence, darkness of lines, shading technique, too high or expectations, or something else, but i'm actually determined to tremendously improve in this...as well as digital painting. that i just don't know the best way to do it.

ummmm...i guess that's it. i want to doodle or something. i need to watch blazing saddles for a class, too. anyone know where i can find darkstar?

it is the most adorable movie i have ever seen...and if i weren't so macho, i would have totally cried in the end...damn pride.

i'm not going to give anything away...i just say...GO SEE IT!

i'm tempted to go again this weekend.

ps. if you're a nerd, you'd totally watch the credits. there's nothing at the end, but the stuff going on during them touched the artistic and "oldschool" strings of my heart.

there are sooooo many art/game/computer related things i totally want/"need" right now: twewy soundtrack, A TABLET [i'm settling w/bamboo fun medium], and cords to hookup my computer/360 to my monitor....oh wait, CHUCK'S monitor. i need one of those, too. laaaaaaammmmmme.

i'd be fine if i were working more than 10 hours a week....which, may i add is LESS than i was when i was in school.

curse you game crazy!

on the bright side, i have everything i want/need on my computer and have free time off the wazoo.

annnnd i'm going to see my grandparents in my hometown of sparta this weekend, so those will be good times. i kinda havn't seen them in over a year...they're getting on in the years, so i need to make this a more frequent visit. :/

not only will i be seeing them this weekend, but i also managed to find my best friend [w00t myspace!!!] that i haven't seen in NINE YEARS...i'm soooo excited to see him, too. i'm working on some squirtle vs. charmander stuff that was totally inspired BY US.

that's my current update, i guess. if you look below, i already have the lineart drawn out for several me-isms, i just need to get my photoshop on...motivation is lacking while working with just mouse. *shrug* i'm getting over it.

know what that means? A MONTH OF FREEDOM!! sure, i still have work, but that's next to nothing. and in celebration of that, i've decided to start a new list...something that's actually achievable. know what? IT'S ALL ME! me is my favorite, and easiest thing to draw. and my favorite. there's no way i can offend me...because it's me. i'm going to go draw or something...yeah.

oh yeah, and in case no one looks at my deviations/reads them, i've gotten a new computer and will soon be using its awesomeness. AND within the next month or so, i'll probably be investing in my first tablet...i just have to decide between an intuos 3 or bamboo fun.

i posted a few things from last quarter tonight, but i PROMISE i'm working on WAY cooler things currently for my character design and concepts in motion classes. i've been working on a whole cartoon called f.u. [flaming unicorns] which is the story of the rivalry of two bands [one being flaming unicorns, the other being the raging gnomes]. all 7 characters have been drawn out, now i'm just getting around to computerizing them...and i ONLY have six weeks to do it.

as for character design, i've done two character sheets, one being of an inanimate object [larry the shoe] and the other of an animal [lord beasley the british bronto]. since i had to do them on 18x24" paper, scanning is kinda a big no-no...so i'll clean up a copy of their "signature pose" for da sometime in the nearish future.

if it isn't obvious enough, i have no computer classes this quarter, so i've really limited my computer time for myself. the upside is more traditional drawing classes...so more art, i guess. *shrug*

yeah, now that i've gotten rid of my 500+ unread deviations [sorry guys] i'll try my super hardest to be more active. deal? XD
