Today I think we'll go out for thai and perhaps just drive around all strange. I can't say I really *got* anything except some dollars from my mum and potentially some shoes. I've been making artwork for a long time and have been doing so publicly for a long time and have come up against this trend, even among artists, that art needs to be safe, pretty, non-confrontational; an artist who makes unsafe artwork, who explores the undesirable, must be a bad, disturbed person.

My day goes like: Get up, get to work, eat when I remember that I need to eat, shower when I remember that I need to shower, go outside if I'm lucky, work until it's time to sleep again.

My schedule is probably not going to change the coming month but I'll have more to show for it because I'll be working on con work.   I might be able to squeeze in a little more... non-work activity. Whatever THAT may be.

The shut-ins were relatively devoid of people, likely because it was a weekday and also pretty chilly for swimming (we swam regardless and it was quite brisk).

I have pictures.  Not marvelous pictures, I'm afraid.  I have a pretty poor camera and went back and forth between taking photos with any kind of composition and photos that were just documenting a texture or an object.  You will have to forgive the inconsistency.

I think sometimes people do not fathom how time-consuming being a freelance artist is. The truth is that an artist spends more time doing clerical, agent, PR, secretarial work than actual art work. This causes conflict in that most artists hate that kind of work and just want to be making art. But hiring secretaries is expensive :P

In other news I have a new comp. monitor. My old one, which was a total fossil, was starting to blur weirdly. So I ordered a new one and lugged the old 60 lb bastard into the spare room.   The new one is alright but freakishly bright.  I had to turn it way down just to see the dirt in my scans.

I enjoy finding old and weathered books and documents.  The aging seems only to add to the mysteriousness of some human-made object, lost to entropy and once again rediscovered.

What I am offering this time around are intentionally weathered and distressed art objects, like an old document or manuscript or study from centuries before.  Imagine each character image as being found in an old book or folio.  The paper will be hand-dyed and the drawing in ink, or if preferred, pencil or conte.  But one single color only.
