I still have four times this to get through.  After that, I am sticking all my old notes in a new folder and starting out with a nice, clean inbox.<br /><br />I think sometimes people do not fathom how time-consuming being a freelance artist is. The truth is that an artist spends more time doing clerical, agent, PR, secretarial work than actual art work. This causes conflict in that most artists hate that kind of work and just want to be making art.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ It's been a busy few weeks.  I finished around 22-23 badges and about ten little paintings.  There was a scare wherein our car might have been terminally ill and required many dollars to fix.  Which was the reason I had taken a lot of badges.  But it ended up being a false alarm, which is OK, because I can save the dollars for more supplies.<br /><br />I just got a big order of golden acrylic paint which I am currently cheating on watercolors hard core with.   It's ok. Watercolor and I have a very open relationship.  Still learning the ropes with acrylic. Get enough irresponsible nerds in one place and there's almost inevitably a fire, or at least an alarm pulled. Acen, especially. Maybe it's anime cons in general.<br /><br />I wasn't the only one who picked up a virus. My poor laptop has become so hopelessly infected that no antivirus programs will work. My old one, which was a total fossil, was starting to blur weirdly.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ It's that time again and this time around I have a specific theme that I'd like to explore.<br /><br />I enjoy finding old and weathered books and documents.  The aging seems only to add to the mysteriousness of some human-made object, lost to entropy and once again rediscovered.<br /><br />What I am offering this time around are intentionally weathered and distressed art objects, like an old document or manuscript or study from centuries before.  Imagine each character image as being found in an old book or folio.  The paper will be hand-dyed and the drawing in ink, or if preferred, pencil or conte.  But one single color only.<br /><br />My best example in terms of paper ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Less than a week left to the con and I have been very busy making new artwork to fill my show space.  The trouble being, I'm not entirely certain how much and where my show space is.   All the other conventions I've put work in had the number and type of panels on the receipt or in the paper work.  FWA just gives the dollar amount.  Having applied months ago, I can't recall whether I had sculpture space or not.<br /><br />As the FWA show staff will not reply to my queries, I'm going to have to make enough work to fill the potential space for each area and just keep the rest at my table.  It has me very busy.   If it gets to be any more of a headache an ]]></media:text>
