2 days down south in Val D'Orcia

Just spent two really amazing days down in the far south of the region - this time of year is really busy (Ferragosto National holiday in Italy)
I never managed to find an economical place to lay my head down at night....so I took the un-economical option and stayed in a cahrming boutique palazzo in San Quirico [link]

The room was beautiful, cool smooth Egyptian cotton on the 4 poster bed, cold cotto tiles on the floor, wet room bathroom, breakfast in a shady garden under vines with the food at night served in the adjoining restaurant built around an ancient walled garden...temps were around 35 degrees during the day and 22 at night.
The whole of the Val D'Orcia is scorched and burnt this summer and the shots I took reflect that scorching....
quick 1st edit here [link]
I'll maybe come back down in mid Sept and see if there is any less brown and a little more green. However.....that all said, I had a wonderful few days away even if it was on my own.
I can really recommend the hotel - simply beautiful

Bellisma!
