We know we had to improve the overall speed of our website. So, in recent days, we have optimized our website (enable gzip compression, caching, decrease the number php requests,…). But more importantly, Iconpaper got a new server.

Now, Iconpaper should be faster for most of you (migration can take 48 hours to propagate, it’s done for over 24 hours). In the coming days we will be attentive to the performance and further improve if necessary.

I have to announce a great collaboration between our beloved designers. 365psd.com had the fantastic idea of packaging a lot of awesome resources to raise money for the recovery efforts in Japan. 100% of the proceeds go to the Red Cross.

Right now, these fantastic idea had already obtained more than 5,000$ in donations; of course, this would never repair Japan from such a terrible tragedy, but it would help.

I think that it's a good way to collaborate, because in exchange of your donation you will also get a lot of graphic design resources.

Unfortunately, Dan who is the main person in charge of this project (which means the website designer too) has got some personal issues during the last month (read more on his journal entry, wish him the best of luck) which have finally forced us to have to postpone Iconfest indefinitely.

I know this is a very sad news but no worries, it will happen. We could rush it but that just doesn't help anyone, so we prefer to postpone it and make it a lot more awesome.

It's time for me to tell you the Iconpaper story. Before iconpaper, I wrote a monthly chronicle about icons called "Chronicon" on Be-Mac (Belgian Mac community) and, after the succes of the Chronicon I began to write other chronicles about wallpapers.

Early 2009, I talked with my friend and he suggested me to open a website to share my love for the customization. After some hesitations, I began to work on this great project. The Iconpaper project is officially born in January 2009.
