I had an installation of vista, on a pc with 2 partitions,each about 150 gigs. one partition (c: ) stored all the vista files and documents, and the other (d: ) was almost empty other than a few hundred MB folder. into (d: ) i installed windows xp, hoping that i could dual boot it with vista. however, at startup, it boots straight into XP, with no way of booting vista. (dual boot screen doesn't appear.)
so, firstly i need to know whether vista occasionally installs into two partitions, or whether it is always contained in just one.
i also need to know if simply removing XP from the second partition will do the trick.

please help, as it's a family pc, and i'm under serious pressure to get vista back!
