Clearly, I haven't updated my dev-art in a long, long while. As cliche as it sounds, I simply haven't had time to draw. Being a Theatre major is very time-consuming. Since there isn't room for a tablet on my college desk, I can't exactly draw even when I DO have time.

I declared a minor in studio art, however, so that should all change soon. I'm taking the pre-req class "Drawing I" next semester, and I'm really excited for it-- despite the fact that it's going to be agonizingly basic stuff like shading spheres and discovering the wonder of a color wheel. ]:


Btw, Ifreakinglove this time of the year. Even though traffic is horrific and going anywhere public is a nightmare, I can't help but grin when I see Christmas trees and holiday decor (to those that know me well, this is extremely ironic). I made a gingerbread house with my best friend today, and it was a blastttt. Now all I have to do is, er, my Christmas shopping. I always procrastinate on doing it, and apparently I still haven't learned my lesson after having my ass kicked by the mall year after year.

Also, this song defines my life. Things have been getting a lot better for me lately (autumn was an onslaught of never-ending shit), but sometimes it just feels good to angst.

GAHHH. FUCK YOU, SWEENEY TODD MOVIE. FUCK YOU SO HARD.

Yeah, I went to see it on opening night with the entire Players cast of our own Sweeney Todd, minus our Johanna. And honestly? The effects, costumes, and some of the casting was amazing (Yaaay Sacha B. Cohen!)-- but the two leads sucked. Depp showed little to no emotion or acting capability, and Helena B. Carter's singing was wayyyy too obnoxiously sweet and frail.

Overall I liked the movie a lot, but I was disappointed with the two actors I trusted most to do a good job.

AND NOW MY FAVORITE FANDOM IS OVERRUN WITH FANGIRLS AND HOT TOPIC IDIOTS. HATEHATEHATE.

Yeah, I'm quite bitter about it. Never before has my picture of Johanna gotten this much attention, but when I go to the er's profiles there is never a single mention of the 2005 Broadway Revival version, which is the only version worth listening to.

New Sweeney fans, do yourselves a favor and listen to the 2005 version with real singers.


BTW: I've had over three people tell me that our production was better. Bwahaha! ;]

It's All-State time again! And you know what that means:
Dani getting freakishly sick!

Yep, as per my ritual of randomly coming down with illnesses at the most inconvenient times, I seem to have gotten food poisoning over the weekend from a particularly nasty ice cream joint in town (Braums). Didn't go to school today, but I am now feeling substantially better and might not completely blow my chance at getting a good chair at the choir competition tomorrow.

Good news? Er. Sweeney Todd, which stars me an' my boyfriend, is going to be awesome, if our troupe can get over minor drama issues.
I'm also modeling in an upcoming photoshoot for , who happens to be a wonderful photographer whose gallery needs your visits NAOOO.


Also, I hate this fucking website. It depresses me even more than looking at my shitty work usually does (having NO artist friends is not a plus, either). I'm not used to being totally alone in my endeavors.

The Florida trip was lots of fun. Our condo was huge and the weather was quite pleasant. Miami has the best shopping EVAR, but most of the stores there were designer brand and, thusly, hella expensive. When I'm rich and famous, I shall return and buy everything.

Doing "lifts" in the ocean with Kenny was amazing-- until, out of fright, he dropped me in a flurry of small fish. Fortunately, I got back at him by keeping him up all night with my hysterical laughter.

I have mostly recovered from my sickness. Can't wait to party hard this summer.

A-kon- Anime Convention- was last weekend. Kenny and I went to the last day, Sunday, and only stayed for about 3 or 4 hours total. It was rather boring; not much else to do besides buy stuff and look at stuff. Wandering around downtown Dallas in full blown lolita dress was kind of nerve-wracking, but it was still an awesome day.

Last night I went to a midnight showing of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" with Jessica and Sam. It was fun- especially the bit before the movie where there was a "singing contest", in which a bunch of stoners attempted to belt out mangled lines of "Wish You Were Here" and "Comfortably Numb".

I'm absolutely buried in incomplete sketches and requests. I made a list, in order to keep track of things. They will be completed in this order:

HUZZAH. I am ecstatic junior year is over. It was a total and complete hell, what with the insanity of humanities and theatre/choir events vying for spaces on my abused schedule.

Unfortunately, I've been vaguely sick for the past two or three weeks, and the last week of school my virus rocketed into action and decided to say, "Y HELO THAR, I AM MONO AND YOU BE INFECTED, LOLZ." Thus, my last day of junior year was spent puking in the choir bathroom. I've been bedridden for about five days, and missed senior graduation, twelve billion parties, and solo and ensemble state competition as a result.

I managed to drag myself out of bed for the choir banquet tonight, however-- although I'm not particularly glad I did. It takes an entire year for me to realize how little most of the people in choir seem to mean to me, and how much the organization in general annoys me. Oh well, at least I had a perfect date, and still had a bit of fun even though my dress was crushing my ribs and I sounded like a five-year-old boy (and I was elected Social Chairman, aka Official Party Thrower). The boy-snuggling at my house afterward was well worth it.

Speaking of which, I must joyfully announce that in a stroke of brilliance *cough*myidea*cough*, my theatre teacher decided to have auditions/ cast next year's first play BEFORE the summer. The show is Sweeney Todd- The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. It's not the musical version- which is absolutely orgasmic- but any version of Sweeney is still drool-worthy. If you haven't heard or seen it, go listen to the 2005 Broadway recording now. NOWWW.

Anywho, I have been cast as the principle MRS. LOVETT, and will be playing alongside my talented boyfriend, who is SWEENEY TODD. Perfect! SOexcited.

It's late and my lovely mono virus is bludgeoning me over the head with my own tonsils, so off to bed I'll go. Expect loads of art sometime in the near future (and that includes requests).

We're about to finally start fully working on Macbeth in theater. The other two witches and I have taken the teacher's suggestion and have been making voodoo dolls of all the characters in the show, which happens to be unnervingly fun (we even got hair clippings from their players). I'm excited; playing evil characters is pretty much my reason for existing. :3

The choral Solo and Ensemble competition was yesterday. I got a one on my difficulty one solo, and we got a one for our large ensemble, so since I made the Region Choir last semester, I lettered. Woohoo.

Unfortunately, my GPA is woefully low. I'm determined to get it back up, and said determination interferes with my already unbelievably slow art-makings. I have about five sketches in the works right now, and with The Blemish Upon Mankind that is Physics, they're not going to be finished anytime soon. Ugh. x_x

School started back up thursday. Ugh, with Physics this semester and the Humanities teachers cracking down, things are going to be stressful. Over the Christmas break, I started several pieces of real-media art, but never got around to working on any of them because I am a LAZY ARSE. No worries, though, I've got several CGs in the works at the moment (argh, and I need a new ID because I HATE the one I have up now), and should have at least two of them finished sometime this week-- as long as I don't get distracted by something shiny.

I did manage to land the part of one of the three witches in Macbeth, which is a splendiferously evil and twisted play that you should all read immediately if you haven't already. Rehearsals haven't started yet, but they are going to be a blast when they do, as the other witches are two of my best friends. SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES! Woohoo.

Alas, I must flee, as this pathetic sketch is begging to be worked on (and, also, this HP slash fic is severely needing to be read).

How can anyone's life be so wonderful and frustrating all at once?

Anywho. I haven't had much time for art-making as of late, thanks to my college-level courses and jams with the NEW BAND. Yes, indeedy, I'm finally in a band, and they are AMAZING. Not your typical teenage musicians at all; and ridiculously, impossibly talented for a bunch of 15 and 16-year-olds. I do the vocals. We might record some stuff thursday- I'm excited.

Into The Woods is finally finished. My cast party was kickass. We pretty much just kareoke-d, played pool, and danced until the wee hours of the morn. I'm gonna miss all the people in the cast, though. Every time I finish a show, I always feel a tad empty, melancholy, and lonely on the inside. Tsh.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid I can no longer ignore that gargantuan mound of homework I've been procrastinating on all night. Blahh.

I am tragically neglectful of all things deviantart-related.

I went to Italy this summer on a school choir trip. It was amazing. Had a blast with my friends. I love them crazy, veeeery open Italian men. <3

Lately, my life has been going relatively well. I made the school's varsity show choir, have been in a play, and have just been cast for another. All-State Region Choir auditions were thursday and I made round 1- chair 20 out of 60 Alto IIs (I was sick and nervous as hell, so it's acceptable, I guess).

Otherwise, things are pretty dull. I just found the USB cord for my video camera. Goody.

Also- I come bearing ART! Yay. :3



EDIT 10/14: WEWT! I auditioned for All State Phase II today and made 8th chair. I was pleasantly surprised that I managed to jump up from 20th. Hooray, this means I get to go on. State choir, here I come!
