ImagineFX Magazine

Just wanted to update my journal, cause it's been a while...... I have got a few of my paintings onto the Imagine FX DVD that comes with the magazine. It's such a beautiful magazine this time, dedicated to fairy and folklore themes. Anybody else out there read ImagineFX? I'd love to know!

Leaving for a while

This is going to be a long journal! And no, don't see this as an attention seeking ploy.

I've only been painting for just over a year. I seem to do one painting every month or so, and never practice my painting skills. Over the past year of painting, I have hardly any work to show for it. No wonder I am not improving. All of my work seems to be about technical ability. I try so hard to get them to look real(ish) and seem to lose any feeling and emotion of my works. I like style, but as far as emotion in my works goes, I am not happy. There's so many inpsiring artists here, so I will still browse art from time to time.

I have so many great ideas that I want to paint. Right now I need to break away from fantasy art. Or at least add a lot more detail and interest to my works. I know currently they are all boring to look at. At least I can say that I have created my works up to now, as practice. I will get better because of them...
I need to change. Take time out. I need to stop using dA as the main promotion source of my stuff. I feel like I often rush my works just to get them posted... But why? I just need a break from this.

Work In Progress

Here are 2 close ups of my latest w.i.p.

It's very slowly getting somewhere, even if that somewhere is not what I want. It's changed so much over the painting process. Maybe too much. I am unsure what to do with it at the moment. It seems this has happened with both of my latest attempts at starting a new painting. I will try to just finish it off whether I like it or not.

I'm not sure about my style anymore. It all seems the same, and actually quite boring. I want to try something new. Slightly move away from fantasy for a while, and focus on classic styles.

On a side note, I would love to try ooak sculpture! That's what I am going to try as soon as the stuff arrives! Yay I'm so excited!

10,000 Clicks

So for many of you, 10,000 pageviews will have happened to you a long time ago ^-^. Currently I have just under 7,000 which is great... There is a point to this journal...!

I would like to offer a small, free digital painting to my 10,000 visitor, just to say thanks! Of course I will need a screenshot of the 10k pageviews. You will decide what you want me to draw for you, as long as it is something I am comfortable with. Details will be given when I'm closer to the 10k.

I thought this would be a nice idea, so I am hoping you all think so too!

On a side note....

Welcome

Started a new painting a couple of days ago. It is still very much in the sketch process: [link] . There will of course be someone standing in this piece, not sure what though. Maybe a fairy or something... I'm kinda struggling with what she will be..

I will be doing some character designs soon. Also, I want to start taking commissions sometime this month. I just have no idea what to charge and stuff! If anyone is interested, please let me know!
