Okay, you know what? Fuck this -16 wind chill bullshit. -_-

ETA: JESUS FUCK IT'S -14 WITH A -30 WIND CHILL NOW.

Packages for this week have been delayed to Wednesday/Thursday, but should still arrive prior to needed due dates.

Why? Last winter, the owners of my apartment building decided that salt and ice melt would no longer be put down, no matter how bad things got, because it could potentially damage the asphalt in the parking lot; tenants, however, are apparently expendable. So, the entire thing is basically one solid sheet of ice and compacted snow right now (the plow doesn't really plow, it just squishes stuff down).

Guess who slipped and fucked her knee up? >A<

This wouldn't be an issue if I didn't drive a manual transmission car, while currently being unable to bend my knee enough to operate the clutch. I have crutches, thank god, and there's no major damage to the connective tissues or bones. Right now it's mostly just paaaaaaain and swelling. I'm babying it, so hopefully by tomorrow afternoon or Thursday morning I'll actually be able to use it for driving purposes.

I just... Who the FUCK puts the well-being of a parking lot over their paying residents, especially during the winter in a state that is KNOWN for getting hosed by blizzards and other major winter storms on a near annual basis?

At least I keep a spare bag of peas in the freezer for situations such as this.

A little over a year ago, my Vexen muse turned up while I was sitting in a Starbucks, in the wee hours of the morning, writing a huge paper on French liturgical tapestry. I'm not entirely sure where he came from, or why, but I'm glad that he's here to stay. I wouldn't trade him for anything.

He's still as distracting these days as he was that first night, when I found myself scribbling fanfic instead of writing about big woven pictures. I doubt that I'll ever finish that fic, because I'm just not sure how to fill in the pieces and it was frankly pretty bad, but here's an unedited snippet in honour of my indoctrination into the cult of the ice bitch. It's XemVex, and is still kind of in my head under the title of Simple Solutions:

‘Well, have you tried sex?’

The second the words were out of his mouth, Vexen’s black-gloved hand was clapped over it. It was a subject that he and the former Apprentices, excluding the Superior of course, often commented on. When they had become Nobodies, robbed of all but the hollow memories of emotion and what it had been like to be human, sex had assumed a new importance. Physical sensation was what remained to them, and even those who had abstained during their lifetimes sought partners in their non-existence.

All, that was, except for one. Either the Superior had retained his Other’s apparent disinterest with sex or, and in Vexen’s mind this seemed more likely, he had balls of Adamantine. Xehanort had never shown any interest in intercourse or intimate touches of any kind. Even had been almost as cold, in practise if not desire, but in a twist of delicious irony the Chilly Academic had all the sexual warmth that his Other had lacked. Xigbar had been the recipient of Vexen’s physical affections more often than the others, but even Xaldin and Lexaeus had not found themselves wanting.

The first thing that they had decided when Xigbar had brought the topic up, and it was one of the few things that Academic and Freeshooter had ever agreed upon, was that Xemnas would never hear about the conversations. And now Vexen, almost able to convince himself that he really could feel blind panic, had all but told the Superior to his face.

If Xemnas didn’t kill him, then Number II certainly would.

Happy birthday, Vexy-babe! Keep on shining, you crazy diamond. (Or would that be special snowflake?)

Proof, again, that teachers seem unable to grasp that their class is not the centre of my life, and that I have other shit to do. *flop*

Nevertheless, I have a new project I'm working on, plus stuff I'm finishing, plus a few new brainworms, collaborations, and so on, and oh my GOD I need a 36 hour day. -_-

In other news, I have a subscription now.
I find it interesting that the TSA only seems to do 'random checks' on my bags when they see something in them that's phallic. Case in point, on both the trip to and back from Yaoicon, there was art depicting gay sex and penises in my luggage. Furthermore, my hoodie was adorned with badges and pins on the way back.

Funny how they simply HAD to go through it all. *snort* Sure, guys, whatever. Enjoy the dicks. It takes one to know one, after all. I guess I should just be glad they can't see what's on my computer.

Yaoicon was fun, in terms of getting to meet up with people I haven't seen in a year, and those I know from online (including PiedCrow from y!G, so now I can FINALLY get her commission to her even though I can't get that site to load to save my life). Met up and chatted a lot with =temporary-glitch, who is one of the awesomest people ever to be awesome and who was a fantastic supplier of much Xigbar/Vexen and Vexen/Xigbar numminess (plus some sexy Vexy love and some Vexen/Replica stuff, BWAHAHAHAHAHA). >3 I shall be very stylish and open about my OTP at whatever convention I head to next. I got to hang out a lot with ~vejiita4eva and her posse as well, which was fun. I ate way too much fried/unhealthy stuff, and WAAAAY too much candy to be sure. OAO Must get back on diet, rargh.

Sales were way down, but that's not really all that surprising. I had a limited amount of very specific stuff, thanks to illness and time constraints, and it sounds like business was slow for everyone. It was interesting to discuss how the trends toward market buying have changed with PiedCrow, and to hear from other artists that I'm definitely not the only one who was hurting for sales (though being the utter n00b with only KH stuff, I probably hurt more than the rest). That's what I get for not fapping to the fan trends toward Naruto, Bleach, and Hetalia, LOL.

Took a tour around the dealer room, but it was pretty bleh. Most of my spent cash went toward badge commissions, a sketch commission from ~vejiita4eva, and some Hetalia pins and a badge for ~chowdahxhead, because my schedule means that I haven't even gotten to draw her birthday present yet, much less send everything. TAT I AM SO SORRY AUUUGH.

For those who stopped by at the convention, or sent their ambassadors to say hello, it was great to see you/hear from you! For those who could not make it, I'm trying to at least break even for the trip through online sales (and I know some of you said you'd be keen on that). So, if you're interested in ordering a keychain or cell phone strap, sticker, or magnet, or wish to get a custom chibi badge commission or something, Note me or comment here! I also have some stuffed paopu fruit left, though not very many.

Prices:

Phone charms, keychains, paopu fruit: $4 first (shipped), $3 each additional up to five, add $1 shipping for 6-10
Magnets: $3 first (shipped), $2 each additional up to 5, add $1 shipping for 6-10
Stickers: $2 first (shipped), $1 each additional up to five, add $1 shipping for 6-10
Mini OrgXIII plushies: $35 (shipped)
Full-sized OrgXIII plushies: $90 (shipped)
Paopu pillows: $25 (shipped)
Chibi commission: $25 (includes shipped charm/keychain, or a laminated badge for those wanting badge commissions)

I can ship multiple keychains, etc. together in the same package for reduced shipping. Up to 5 can be shipped for a $1 shipping charge, 6-10 can be shipped for one additional dollar. So, one keychain would be $4, two would be $7, three $10, and so on. Just add an additional dollar to that progressive total for quantities of 6-10. :3

I currently have all of the chibis shown in my 2009 series upload available, plus cranky scientist Vexen in his Organization coat. Luxord and Demyx are still in the works, but should be available within the next couple weeks.

Thank you, and it was great to see everyone! ~thru-apeture-eyes, Xiggy should be on his way soon, now that I'm (hopefully) no longer snowed in. It was like OMG, teh swinez and then a blizzard right after. DX

So, for all of you who are 18+ and planning on hitting up Yaoicon this weekend, you can find me in the Fan Market, stall #1, under the Bad Moon Rising Productions name (right next to the No Name Cafe).

I'm unfortunately not going to have a complete set of 13 Organization XIII chibis because school has been doing horrible things to my time, but I WILL have eleven available for purchase as keychains, cell phone charms, stickers, and magnets. Luxord and Demyx will be available for online orders following the convention, but everyone else is available for purchase on-site. This particular series is rather silly, though I will be making a uniformed series as well, plus the Apprentices.

I will also have mini plush paopu fruit, plush onigiri that you can decorate however you want, and possibly some larger paopu fruit pillows. I will also be accepting commissions for chibis and custom badges (you can ask about full-size pieces, but I really don't have time for any at the moment), which will be completed after Yaoicon and delivered in digital form, plus a mailed version of your choice (keychain, charm, sticker, magnet, or small print).

Due to my swine flu episode last week I did not have time to complete any plushies for immediate sale, but I will have some samples of the full-sized ones (and possibly some minis) for you to look over, should you decide that you wish to order one. The mini plushies will be roughly 7" tall.

So, stop by to pick up a small stuffed thing, a keychain or two, or just to say hello and have a piece of Halloween candy. I'm sorry that I won't have as much on offer as I had hoped, but what can you do when the flu kicks your ass? :\

I look forward to seeing you there!

The latter are just fucknutters bent on conquest (thus far, I can't speak for the other nine seasons), the Wraith are mostly fucking HUNGRY and people just have this strange aversion to having the life sucked out of them.

Still working on Yaoicon stuff. The next person who calls me Demyx, dies.

Anyway, it was a small convention, but it wasn't too bad. I've been spoiled by Yaoicon, ACEN, Anime Boston, and the like, but this was definitely better than Animeland Wasabi was back in March. The Marriott was a much more suitable venue than the Sheraton was, but it was still pretty small for the volume of people packed into it. That said, the dealer room was well laid out (though had nothing particularly special on offer, save for some chocolate with bits of rock salt in them and Choco Banana Pocky), and there were some nice people in the artist's alley (though I ignore the girl who kept advertising for herself on the forums). I picked up a new Xigbar/Vexen badge commission and put in for another one that I should hopefully be getting in a few weeks.

Also, everyone loved =temporary-glitch's badges! People kept saying that she managed to make them look like me, which makes me LOL a lot. >3 Note to self, must order MOAR.

The Kingdom Hearts cosplay scene was pretty limited. There was a flight of Sorae, a herd of Roxii, a plague of Axel (well, four or five), a filth (apparently an actual term) of Demyx, a couple Saix, some Zexions, a Xemnas, a couple Xigbars (with unfortunate preferences for soggy little cunts named Demyx, someone kill me), a couple Marluxias, and one Larxene. I was the only Vexen, again. There were a bunch of FF cosplayers as well. I really wish I could pull together enough good cosplayers to form a Rocky Mountain KH group. TAT

We didn't really go to any panel events; we were mostly there for the cosplay and the markets. There were two KH photoshoots (both of which kinda blew) and one FMA one, which Niko enjoyed as Kimblee. So, on the whole, it was a fun experience, though I'm looking forward to Yaoicon in October and Anime Boston next April. Plus Niko and I are going to try to make it to Anime LA in early January.

Current cosplay to-do list, after I shed about 40 pounds, is:

- Organization Vexen (final version)
- Atlantean Vexen (formal robes)
- Halloween Town Vexen
- Apprentice Even
- Lexaeus
- Larxene
- Major General Olivier Armstrong (Fullmetal Alchemist)

Photos are up! :3

Oh man, long weekend was long.

Thursday: Got to the airport around 1:00-1:30 to catch my 2:44 flight out of Denver. Not so bad, except for the fact that I literally had not slept the night before due to working on Freeze Pride, which I had to pack up (unfinished) to bring with me. Two flights (Denver to O'Hare, O'Hare to Manchester) and a 45 minute delay later I met up with ~chowdahxhead, who is even moar awesum in person, after which we commenced a second all-nighter on that goddamn shield.

Friday: Following a 3-hour nap, more frantic shield work, the final styling of both our Xigbar and Vexen wigs, and getting into makeup and costume, we didn't make it to the convention until mid-afternoon. Fortunately there were no lines to pick up our badges, so we got in and out and on to the wandering around pretty quickly. Not much to do really, other than find out where things like the Artists' Alley and Dealer Room were and let people take pictures. We did run into ~SiciLupin and co., and spent the rest of the day (and weekend) hanging out. :3 Finally left in the early evening for ~chowdahxhead's place and some KFC. Attempted to watch Atlantis after applying some caulk to Freeze Pride, but ended up passing out.

Saturday: This was the first day I went with the shield. We got there around 8:00 and hung out until the Kingdom Hearts photoshoot at 11:00. It was pretty bunk, TBH, but we -did- run into some members of =AfterlifeUSEC (whom we had also met the day before), which was of course a treat because they are so fucking AWESOME. (Also tall. Dear god. Of course, when you're only 5'-4", everyone seems tall.)

We spent the rest of the day wandering around with the mini!Org and stopping every five feet for photos. Apparently we were actually pretty good as far as Orgy cosplayers go; AfterlifeUSEC does not count with regards to comparison in the same way that gods are not lumped into the same category as mere mortals. Lawl. The day commenced with dinner with ~chowdahxhead's family, followed by an hour of toilet humour and finally getting to finish up Atlantis before going to bed.

Sunday: Last day of the con and another early one, but definitely the -best- one. There was practically nobody there when we arrived, so we got to just wander around a bit and have a leisurely breakfast at Au Bon Pain before things got busy. Met up with ~SiciLupin again and did the first half of our own private photoshoot before heading off to the official Kingdom Hearts one at 1:00. That one was actually way more enjoyable than the one before, even though the weather was hot and humid and icky. Well, except for the one Xion cosplayer who thought it was okay to attempt to drag me first by my wig (as in, grab a handful while it was on my head and TUG), then by my coat (grab a handful of sleeve and TUG), and then by my Memory Card prop. -_- The only time at the convention when I blew up at a person, and they certainly deserved it. In what universe is it okay to do things like that? Did get some good shots, though, before heading off. ~thru-apeture-eyes was there as casual!Xigbar, which was made of awesome and win (and ridiculous amounts of people who are a foot taller than me).

We went back to finish up our private shoot following the official one before saying goodbye to everyone and heading homeward (with a few more photo stops on our way out the door). ~chowdahxhead and her dad drove me to the airport after I finished packing, though I nearly missed my flight because airport security was flipping their shit about my coat and my wig head (which Denver had gone 'wut' at but hadn't demanded to paw through all of my carefully packed luggage over). Finally got into Denver around 11:30 Mountain Time, and home around 12:30. After which the cat was snuggled and sleeping commenced.

Definitely an awesome weekend and one worth being at! I wish I had the finances to go to Otakon in July. TAT As it stands, the rest of my convention rotation this year will be Nan Desu Kan in September, and Yaoicon in late October (look for me at Fan Market table #1). Of course, if I manage to get the scratch together to go to some other ones, I will certainly be there. :3

In the meantime, it's back to the gym to try to make myself look a little more like Vexen, LOL.

Many thanks to ~chowdahxhead and her fa...

I am also accepting bids on my Green Ranger plushie, as he has now been autographed by Jason David Frank! Yes indeed, he has been! And he can be yours, if the price is right.

If you're interested in anything, there's no need to join RB (if you're not already a member). Just Note me with what you want and we'll work it out. Everything is on hand and ready to ship. These are not commission slots (I don't have time to take more than a couple new KH plushies right now).

Okay, because this apparently NEEDS SAYING (though not necessarily to people on my watch list, just in general):

I am happy to receive constructive criticism. Want to red-line a piece? If you know WTF you're doing, by all means, knock yourself out. I want to improve!

Ass-pat comments? Sure, why not? They feed my ego and no matter what the most pretentious artist says about how they work for TEH ARTZ and don't care what people think, we love to get praise. It's human nature.

But if you're just going to comment to say a piece is disgusting because you're a bigot who doesn't agree with the content, or just want to say that you don't like a piece because it doesn't cater to YOUR kinks/etc...

TOUGH FUCKING SHIT. Put on your big girl/boy panties and deal with it. If you don't like my work but can tell me how I can improve (and telling me to 'stop drawing these perversions' does not count as concrit here), talk to me! But I have had it UP TO HERE with people who just drop by to whine at me for making something that offends their virgin eyes, or that makes them go BAWWWWWWW because I didn't make it to their specifications (or for them at ALL) and thus it's not ~sexy~ or ~pretty~ and is therefore defective.

dA is a place full of different artists of different skill levels, with different tastes. It's frequented by people who just like to look at the art and don't contribute their own at all. And that's fine. What's not fine is spazzing or complaining because every piece on the site doesn't make you cream your pants with glee.

I'm not trying to be cold or uncommunicative. I'm just pointing out that there are things you're allowed to say in comments, and things you should say in comments, and that the two groups do not overlap 100%. Anyone who knows me knows that I love to chatter with people here, in Notes and comments. Communication is key in a place like this. It's a COMMUNITY.

But there is really no point in going out of your way to tell someone you think their work sucks. Save it for off-dA rant communities, or whatever. We have too much of that behaviour already, and we don't need more. If you feel that you MUST tell someone you hate something, then at least say what you like technically about the piece and offer advice for improvement.

Maturity, dA. Get you some.

/hissy rant

In the meantime, I wanted to let you all know that I'm going to be trying to get a Fan Market table for Yaoi-con 2009, meaning that if I succeed, you'll be able to drop in and say 'hello' and actually buy KH plushies, rather than just trying to steal them in the hall. ^_~ There may also be some prints, cellphone toggles and keychains, and even some crocheted stuff.

Any of you have any ideas for what this hypothetical table should be called? I've got a couple, but I'm always open to new ones! To the rest of you over-18s - WHY THE HELL WERE YOU STAYING HOME? WE CAN HAS YAOI TIEM NAO!

Hopefully within the next couple days, sunlight permitting (I have a shitty schedule), I'll be able to get some photos of the Axel plush prototype that I made. I want to do some work on the hair for the next one, but I think he's a good first stab.

(If you really want him, of course, he IS for sale - $90 incl. shipping within the continental US. If you're in Alaska, Hawaii or overseas, shipping will be extra.)

Please note that while I'll be slow due to classes, I am open for plushie commissions as well as pin-up commissions (works similar to my two modern Thomas Pullings AU pieces). Contact me if you're interested! Drawing shit that I have to do, in no particular order:

1. David/Tommy. (My incestuous eyecandies, let me show you them.)
2. David/Tommy/Jason. (Just... because.)
3. SOMETHING wintery for PR. (Because ~mirrorkitten is a traitor and went with ZaDR. )
4. Maes Hughes x Sally Po huggy... thing. (Because it's cute. No other reason.)
5. Maes x Sally wintery thing. (Sally looks really good in formal dresses.)
6. Maes and Sally uniform swap.
6. 6xS fluffy stuff.
7. Preventer Class A uniforms. (Male and female versions, probably front and back views.)

I'm a-gonna die.

Still working on plushies, except my mother's sewing machine keeps trying to eat my goddamn fingers. It's like the demon machine from hell...

ETA: 8. The Jason and Tommy invisible shower sex. Oh my. Yes. (Not sure if it's JxT or TxJ, but there will be pornz.)

You know, I'm usually not down with blocking people. But let this just be a general notice: if you troll me, and if you act like an immature brat around me, I will block you. Same goes for throwing shit in my sandbox while saying nothing constructive. I don't mind constructive criticism, but there's a big difference between giving me con-crit and pissing razors because something bothers you.

You see, I have little enough time as it is, and so I don't take kindly to people who decide to waste it with their asshattery. Honestly, that's all it is. If you decide to behave later, I may consider removing the block. If you don't, then I really have no need for you here. While you may prove entertaining for a while, eventually you just get boring. And when you continue to throw shit, you move from boring to obnoxious and a waste of my time.

Bottom line, if you persist in acting like a child around me, I will put you in time-out.

Oh yeah, and the name-calling? That makes you seem SO mature, babe. SO mature.

PMC was awesome and I'll get back to discussing it in a bit, but now I have something far more serious to talk about:

Are you a PR fan? Then please, commission some plushies from me!

One of my dear friends, ~notashortbean, needs to have some very important surgery done on her knee, and may also require kidney surgery. Unfortunately, the bills for two surgeries that need to get done now are pretty crippling.

A portion of all plushie proceeds will be donated to Mandy to help cover hospital and recovery costs. Simple donations, even if you don't want a plushie, are also VERY GRATEFULLY accepted, and will help get a dear friend and Power Rangers fan (literally) back on her feet.

There may even be a little gift from me, for those who chip in!

I would not be asking this if it were not vitally important. Even if you can only donate a dollar or two, you'd be doing an immense service to a fellow yaoi enthusiast, PR fan, and all-around awesome person who really needs the help and support right now.

Please comment or PM me if you have questions or are interested in commissioning or making a contribution. You can also check out my plushie journal at http://power_plushies.livejournal.com.
We'll be heading over to the Wilshire at 10 AM this morning to pick up our tickets for Power Morphicon, and will then be heading off for a bite of lunch and some last-minute shopping before the opening ceremony. I also found the 30th Anniversary Super Sentai/Power Rangers Encyclopedia that I've been lusting over today, and O MI GAWD is it gorgeous. Full-colour, glossy pages, and even some nice Tommy pictures in the PR section. It even covers what has so far been released for GekiRanger and PROO, plus it has cute little stickers and a DVD containing 30 years' worth of toy commercials.

1. Probably switching out Millicon for AFO this summer because OH MY SWEET LORD, Jason David Frank is a confirmed guest at the latter. And yet NOT at PMC, to my knowledge. WTF, JDF, WTF? (I love you anyway, you hot, dark 'n' sexy hunk of man.)

2. Anyone interested in a 156-piece Prismacolor marker set? I fail with markers, so mine is up for sale. Unused, pretty much, asking $325 (domestic shipping included). If someone here is interested, then I will take it down from eBay (or if they don't let me, give you the link). All monehs go toward my PMC trip and my pilgrimage to see His Sexiness at AFO.

I have a list of stuff:

1. Finish the Jason/Tommy Power Rangers holiday picture that should have been done before Christmas.
1a. Post it.
1b. Duck and cover, and dodge fandom backlash.

2. Work on the evil!Tommy picture (that's basically Milliways brain porn) for Rach and Maria.
2a. Short hair = evil.
2b. Lighting = evil^2.

3. Do the line art for the Pretty Dino Soldier parody.
3a. Colour it.
3b. Post it.
3c. Duck and cover, and dodge fandom backlash.
3d. Look into hiring a bodyguard.

There's more as well, but as usual it is escaping what slender grip I have on my memory. -_-; It could also be the large quantity of Aleve I had to eat earlier, thanks to straining a muscle during karate training on Saturday.

Commissions are open as always. Message me.

I actually fixed Jack's hand in Welcome Distractions, at last! It is no longer gimptastic from when I lost my head in the heat of battle and got shadow and highlight placements reversed. e_e;

So, yeah. Fixed that, and tweaked some other things, and it's back up. Huzzah.

I TOLD you all I'd do it! I'm just slow as all hell about getting around to things, and I hate painting hands.

So for y'all who were all 'ARGH IT'S WRONG' at me, and to whom I replied 'I KNOW BITCH I'LL FIX IT,' it's actually fixed now and actually doesn't look half bad, as far as my hands go.

Hello, world!

Until the end of the term, commissions are on hold.

YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO CONTINUE TO SEND THEM.

Just be aware that I won't really be working on them for the next few weeks, until finals are over and all of my projects are out of the way. I will, however, be thinking about them.

Remember, any fandom is up for grabs. If you have any questions about what I will or won't do, feel free to ask me.

The more the merrier right now, actually, as I'll be going to Greece this fall (or so it seems), and extra cash would be very, very welcome (as the exchange rates are never very good between the US dollar and the Euro).

I've gotten a couple dings from people over YIM asking about commissions.

The answer is both yes and no. Yes, I will happily consider them, but I also must consider my phenomenally hectic schedule (namely getting packed and getting moved out to university, all within the next week). Likewise, no matter how much you pay me, I'm not the sort to paint if I don't enjoy it. I will not attempt to mimic someone else's style, so please don't ask.

If you're interested in a commission, please contact me via Yahoo!Messenger or send me a devART note, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

I am happy to attempt original characters, provided you can give me precise descriptions (or even better, provide images).

Prices depend on the complexity of the piece you want and the style (airbrushed pictures like 'Welcome Distractions' are far more complex and time-consuming than something like 'Prelude;' lineart also tends to be more time-consuming because of the large amount of digital inking, and clothed figures are obviously more complex across the board than nudes). Having a fixed rate is difficult, so please contact me any questions that you might have.

A 50% downpayment of an agreed-upon price is necessary for work to begin; following completion and the payment of the remainder, you will receive a high-quality digital copy of your piece along with a signed high-quality print (on good, heavy, expensive paper). Remember that you are purchasing a piece of art. While I reserve the right to post a low resolution watermarked copy of your commission for advertising purposes, I will not distribute it, nor will anyone but you have the license to do so.

All proceeds go to the 'Julia REALLY needs to get a dining table' fund.
