my opinion on abortion: love it, her body, her choice.
1. i'd like to think of myself as pro-choice- her body, her baby, her life, her choice.
2. i dont remember anything from inside the womb, and i dont think the premature baby would care too much.
3. what if the girl/woman got raped? they didnt want to have a child-- she should have the choice not to.
4. it's also the woman's life that would be effected by the child-- not the unborn-unfeeling baby.
5. if a woman seriously thinks that she is unable to support another human being, she is probably right. she can have a kid when she feels it is the right time.
6. perhaps there is some genetic disease where the woman's grandmother died in childbirth with her mother, and her mother died during childbirth with her. she may die during childbirth too, and doesn't want to risk it (i wouldn't)
7. it's her body, and if she doesn't want to "sacrafice" it for someone else she shouldn't have to (*sacrafice= stretchmarks, weight gained, c-section scars... etc)
8. pregnancy is a bitch. i had to with with a pregnant woman for only about 3-4 months (i was in france for most of my mom's pregnancy with my brother) and she was not a happy camper. moodswings, always needs to pee, wierdest cravings, sore everything, etc.
9. raising a child is hard. you have to keep a kid clothed, fed, sheltered, under control, "happy", civilized, etc. to be deemed a "responsible parent." doing theses things takes time, money and patients, which is something the woman might not hve much of.
10. If a woman's boyfriend/husband ditches her when she becomes pregnant (happens a hell of a lot) then it can be virtually impossible to raise a child on their own, and the woman probably doesn't want to make her child and herself struggle through that.
11. being a pregnant teenager really would screw up a person's life.
--you would have less time to focus on shcoolwork if you had to feed, cloth, and care for a child, especially if you lived on your own and had to work to support you and your child.
--parents sometimes would kick you out for having a kid so early and unprepared. even if your parents supported you, they would probably wouldnt be to happy about being your nanny.
--you might loose your friends, and you wouldn't be able to go out almost at all (parties, malls etc.)
--i'm sure that if you wanted a life of your own (career and a place to life) it wouldn't be readily supplied. i don't think harvord would want somebody who was irresponsible enough to have a kid at such an early age. again the whole thing about time exertion. so a teenage mom might have to put her dreams aside for her child.
--it would be really painful to be so young and everywhere you go have people staring at you and being condesending towards you just because you're pregnant.
i assume that the majority of teenage girls/women arent ready to face these responsibilities head on.
12. maybe the woman's man is abusive, and she simply doesn't want to raise her child in this kind of enviornment. (i cant blame her)
13. if i didn't want a child, i would rather never HAVE it than give it up to a complete stranger. give the child that I sheltered in MY womb for nine months.
14. stem cell reasearch. self explanitory.
15. if a woman REALLY doesn't want her child, desperately, and would do anything NOT to have it, it's better that the deed is done proffesionally thatn in some back ally with an old hanger cuasing serious risk to the mother.
