Hey folks, it's me, and I've just started a new project, called "The deviantWIDE Feature Project" on dA. The idea of the project is to create a large group which will decide on a monthly feature which will be published in a news article, the group's front page, and (for those who are premium members) in members journals. Those who's work has been featured by the group will be asked to watch the group (and encouraged to join) so they will continue to see our monthly features as they are published (that's one of the ways the group will grow).

Here's how you can Help


For now, all you need to do to help is join the group. I'd really appreciate it. Also, if you spread the word to your watchers on dA so we can grow it'd be a big help. Finally, you can also help by suggesting features for us, that's a simple thing to do. Just click the big "Suggest a Fav" button on the front page of the group, locate the deviation you want to suggest, and click "OK".

As I said though, all I really need is for you to join the group, you don't have to do anything once you've joined if you don't want to.

Hey! :D Time for an update.


First of all, for those of you who saw my poll about the MX Revolution, I decided to get a G9 instead. It's better for my purposes. Anyway... =P


Lately I've had a reaaally nasty bug, which I think is probably the swine flu, the symptoms all match up, so... :P Ah well, it's almost over now. I think. :XD: Who want's to hear about that anyway though?

I'm loving my new powers as a subscriber, especially that of being able to feature little known deviants who deserve way more credit than they get. So, it's time for my very first artist feature (different from a normal feature because I'm featuring just a few artists and some of my favorite of their work.) So lately I've been trying to come up with new things to shoot. I like landscapes and will continue to do them, but I've just been in the mood for experimenting lately. I'd really appreciate suggestions of (reasonable) things to try. I'd prefer if it didn't somehow involve dangling my camera over the edge of a suspension bridge with a 50-foot rope... that's not exactly the kind of "experimental" I'm going for. ;)

btw, you may of noticed my new avatar... that's my first decent photo ever, taken with a crappy film camera with no zoom around 5 years ago or so. :XD: :w00t: Maybe I'll post a full size version if I can get a decent scan of it... my scanner has maaaajor issues.

I hadn't been doing any photography for a long period and I'm just getting back into it and enjoying it a lot, but my camera isn't adequate for some of the stuff I'd like to do, so I'll finally be getting a DSLR. I've been hunting for a DSLR for quite a while and I was kinda thinking about getting a Samsung GX-20 (just like a Pentax K20D pretty much) in July, but I decided not to. I'm glad I didn't buy one, because now the Nikon D3000 is coming out and it seems to be just perfect for me. So... prepare to be amazed for when I get it! =P :lol: Na, but I'm pretty excited about that anyway.

Anyway, things are going fairly well. Since autumn of last year I've managed to somewhat streamline the process of getting my stuff edited and on dA (from a single core Celeron to a dual core Athlon, you bet it's streamlined!), so if I'm not busy lazing away my free time you'll be seeing around ten new shots up every day. The problem is, I AM lazy, which means 1 photo every half a month... or less. I'm going to try and work on improving that nasty habit, but the odds are one in a million that I'll actually succeed.

Now the big question is, do you even want to see my stuff? I assume that those of you who are reading this have at least some interest... possibly very limited. So my question is, how much should I upload? One a day? Two a week? As few as possible?

I'm interested in your opinion as I'd like to begin uploading more content, but I prefer to keep my uploading to a reasonable level. It seems that I have been posting at an ridiculously low rate lately, we shall see if I can improve that.

Anyway, we just got back from the studio in Indiana where we did the recording for our album "Eclectic Stew." It was awesome! :D The album should be out soon. :)

btw, we'll be playing some shows this summer in MI. At the moment all we have planned is a street gig in Boyne City sometime around the 4th of July (no definate date as of yet), we'll be opening at the Charlevoix Music Pavilion sometime in August (I think... again there isn't a definate date so we don't even know who we'll be opening for) and another street gig in Boyne City in August. :P We've got one or two private gigs, but, of course, those are private gigs... Anyway..... :D

I've been really busy trying to finish up the school year on time. I'm a little behind in Algebra :P and I have the 24 page history final looming up this Saturday :P and am just a very little behind in literature... :P Hopefully I'll be done by the 2nd week in July though. :)

It was the summer of 1787. The Constitutional Convention was about to take place in Philadelphia. And George Washington, the former commander-in-chief of the Continental Army was planning to stay at home in Mount Vernon. And how could he not? Not only did Washington attend the convention, but he later accepted the calls to be our first president.
