Last year I had a drawing hand injury and could not take commissions. It was pretty depressing, actually - to have all of this creative energy and not be able to keep up with it because of physical impairment. I went to physical therapy last year, which helped a lot. The book is geared towards beginning artists who'd like to experiment and learn more about the Japanese anime/manga style; it covers basic principles of drawing, including subjects like basic anatomy/proportion, to other subjects like finding inspiration from life, and how to set up basic manga pages.

I'm going to try really hard to put time aside for more personal art this year. I devoted so much of my time to Gaia in 2006-07, and as much as I like the work, I feel that I have lost my own artistic identity as of late.
