Stock photos are the kind of photos that other artists have provided for us to use as inspiration/base of our works. The most popular way of using stock is in photomanipulations and digital paintings. However vexel artists seem to love stock too! Learning vexels takes quite a lot of time, especially if you have never worked with the pen tool. This is where tutorials come in handy.

If you browse DeviantArt you'll find some useful and good tuts, starting from the basics of vexeling, through making hair or eyes. The only thing you have to remember is that tutorials are here only to help you start and discover your own style and technique. You don't have to follow them step by step. The Definition

It's hard to explain to people who have never tried vexels or vectors what they are. Even some vexel and vector artists are often not aware of the main differences between those two.

It's almost perfect, but there's one main characteristic thing missing. If you're working with Photoshop and you're familiar with some basic tools and techniques then you're probably also aware that vectors can be made in Photoshop as well. If you are new to Vexels, read on to find out what they are. If you're already familiar with them, read on and maybe you'll find out something interesting that is new to you ;)

Vexels are quite similar to Vectors, they look nearly the same. But if someone says they are the same he or she is wrong! Why?

Term Vexel is a mix of words vector and pixel and, unlike Vectors that are made using vector layers, Vexels are made of layered shapes on raster layers. That means that if you zoom your Vexel to 600% you will get a blurry image, while when it comes to Vectors your image will stay sharp.

Most of you probably already know what vexels are. In case you don't here's a short information:

Vexel is made of layered raster shapes either filled with solid colour or gradient (or both) and looks pretty much a lot like Vector. The main difference is that Vectors are created on vector layers.
