I also have an exciting new costuming project. I am making costumes for a girl who is a Britney Spears look-a-like here in NYC. Im starting first with the Ringmaster costume from the Circus Tour. I cant wait to get started!!!

Ive been working on a sportswear portfolio collection that is turning out really nice. I am going to do some actual art tomorrow night, so far I only have the thumbnail sketches done. I will definitely upload some art from this project soon, since its been quite a while since I posted any art.

I would like to keep doing commissions but Im being a little more selective on where I advertise about it, since I was getting hammered with tons of ridiculous requests and people who were not actually serious about it.

It will give me some time to really think about how I want to proceed with my fashion career. Right now I am feeling that its a good time to try and start something online and build from there. So the next few months I want to start designing on my own and making things to sell in order to build a name and image that could one day become a brand of my own.

I will definitely keep everything updated here and hopefully some of you will want to buy my clothes!

On the cosplay/convention front, I am pretty busy for the next two weeks, with NYCC and Katsucon back to back. I just finished my newest costume for Comic Con last night and I am working on a Sakura (CCS) costume for Katsucon. Its coming along very nicely, but I probably wont have her staff done for Katsu, I will make it for Anime Boston though. I actually have to make a Kero-chan costume for Katsucon too, which is going to be tough since the fabric I needed only arrived today! ugh.

The NYAF/WCS Masquerade was amazing. I am so glad I went ahead with it. Dandelionswish and I competed and got a judges award. Our skit went over great and the costumes, while we were hard pressed to get them done, looked awesome! I was so happy that my former roomate, Dia, and her friend Liz, won the WCS and get to go to Japan! By the end of that saturday I had felt pretty much every emotion a person can feel and I was physically exhausted from wearing that costume for 11 hours.

Sunday we did a photoshoot at a studio at FIT (my school). Mark and our friend Tim took a lot of lovely photos which I hope to get up in the gallery soon!

The past week I have been working madly on my senior portfolio and making a bra for my Foundations course. I just posted photos of the Lace dress I had to make just prior to NYAF, and there is still a lot that I want to update, I just haven't had the time.

Really feeling like that website update needs to happen too...

PS- I am going to be Betsey Johnson for Halloween... expect lots of sillyness.

Figured I would give a little update on how things are going. Made some significant progress on the costumes for NYAF this weekend. I finally had success with resin casting too! I actually have temporarily quit my job so I can really focus on getting my school stuff done. This is a very special semester for me and one that I have to put 100% of my effort towards, because it involves my sister's Wedding dress, and my final portfolio collections. I had just been stressing out way too much, and needed to do something to alleviate those feelings. My boss understood though and I will be going back to work this winter, and then again in the summer when I am out of school.

I can't help but still be a bit stressed though... ugh.

In other news I am also trying out for World Cosplay Summit with at the end of September. We have our costumes started and skit mostly figured out now, so we just gotta get working like crazy! We did get 2nd place in Master division Craftsmanship at Otakon for the Final Fantasy 9 group. Otakon was OK this year, I don't know if I want to go again next year or if I want to try to do some other con, like comic con or something.

Now it is time to revisit Beatrix, finish Steiner, and help out a friend with Princess Garnet. We are doing a group in the Otakon Hall Cosplay and it is going to be epic. Hailo will be Zidane again. Otherwise, I don't think I will be making any other new costumes for Otakon, mainly for lack of time and money. I also have other sewing projects that I want to work on. Who knows though, I might whip something out on a whim... part of me still really wants to make Princess Tutu... and I have not even seen the show! super lame.

Then as far as NYAF goes, no plans so far... I am leaning towards some HTK action like Estelle or Irein... Or I may go the ridiculous route and be Sailor Cosmos. Things are definitely still up in the air for this con.

I have a good idea of what I will be making for my sister's wedding gown, we had a little planning session and next weekend we are going to do some "shopping" to see what looks best. Still a little stumped about the bridesmaids though. Hopefully inspiration will come when we go look at fabrics.

Last weekend was the Upstate NY Cosplay Picnic. It was great fun! Despite the 95 degree heat and the fact that I was wearing a cape of fake fur, it was one of the most enjoyable picnics so far! I was dressed as San from Princess Mononoke, and I was very happy with how everything turned out. I hope to get pictures from Mark soon!

AnimeNEXT is coming up in a week and a half. I have yet to actually start my costume for this, but I should have no trouble getting it done, its really only a blouse, a jumper, petticoat, and the wig.

Last but not least, Project Designer is back finally! Sadly they had to drop the third challenge we did, I felt like I did really well on that one, so I am disappointed about that. The new 3rd challenge is due next week so keep an eye out for it!

Its not a big deal thing but I think it would be a lot of fun if I were to get in, plus it would give me an opportunity to design something other than Bridal this spring. My portfolio class this semester is a Bridal design portfolio, consisting mainly of wedding dresses, with a few bridesmaid, mother of the bride, flower girl, etc.. I am looking forward to it, but at the same time I fear it might get a little boring.

Now I must just get working on a more Evening wear appropriate figure for my designs. In the past I have always drawn very youthful girls, with a little more meat on their bones! I think I am going to really focus on improving my art this semester. I have two advanced couture sewing classes, but I can handle that stuff with no problem. I R A GOOD SEWER!

Katsucon Update:
No where near ready for this con still... its now under 2 weeks away and I have a lot to do still. The biggest roadblock I face at the moment is the suit I am making for my boyfriend's Andrew Ryan (Bioshock) costume. I had never done menswear patternmaking before and the suit doesn't quite fit right at the moment. I am probably going to have to re-cut a few things, which sucks. Otherwise I have a lot to finish on my own costumes also. Oh well.

So thats life right now. About to get much busier in the next few weeks. le sigh.

In other news, I got back to work on Hitomi, to be expected at Katsucon. Also appearing at Katsucon will be Integra and my Bioshock Splicer girl that I haven't actually made yet. Possibly one other costume if I have the time, but I also have to make my bf's Andrew Ryan costume (also from Bioshock).

There will be some intense sewing done over the next few weeks.

In other news my winter class got canceled and now I am taking an online small business course. This means I should have more time to sew this winter. Now I have essentially a month off school because my winter class got canceled. I will probably work on costumes, since we have taken on some serious shit for Anime Boston. Myself, Glamurang and Hailo are going to be Beatrix, Steiner, and Zidane from Final Fantasy 9. Pretty awesome. I would also like to finally finish Lilith. I actually have a lot of things I want to do, but I will wait and see what I decide on...

I will be leaving for Arizona on sunday and I am super excited.

Worked on my Hitomi costume this evening. It is refreshing to do a tailor jacket again, but a little slow going since its been about a year since I last made one. Knit wear is so forgiving and basic that I have gotten a little lazy this year.

I also got some serious work done on my leather corset for body contour. Its coming along beautifully, but I haven't had the chance to buy my boning and busk yet, so that is at a stand still for a few days.

I know I haven't posted the Harry Potter pictures yet, but I promise I will soon

To get in the mood I am also doing my final sweater design project with a Scotland inspiration, as well as the knit wear designers, Pringle of Scotland. So there we go. I R A WINNAR.

The last of my sweaters for knitwear design are due today, so hopefully I will put of pictures of them soon. I have been very happy with them all. Starting Term Garment patterns today.

I finished my lingerie project only to find out that we actually had an extra week. Now I am working on some Fashion History journals and I made another sweater last night. This one I am actually very happy with, its a bit tight on me, so I might sell it. I still need to post a picture of the last sweater. One more sweater to make before term garment time. I ordered my yarn for it and it should be arriving tomorrow.

Starting the Bustier for my Body Contour class this week, and this weekend I hope to start working on my Hitomi costume for the New York Anime Festival.

Now that the Ballet project and the Ren Faire are out of the way I can move on to the next projects. Mainly the swimsuit, the body contour collection, my Hitomi and Integra costumes, the silly patternmaking sweaters, and a few more art projects.

The next art project is actually for the All Japan Teachers Fashion Design Competition. Our teacher is the coordinator at FIT and so she just is having us do it as a project for class and then will enter them for us. Pretty sweet. For this competition we have to design 3 fabric swatches and then design around them for a 13-19 yrs. age group, so basically its for Juniors. I think I will really enjoy this because I love doing my own prints and such. It will be judged by a panel of Japanese Fashion Designers and Teachers and there are some serious cash prizes, not to mention exposure.

I am actually looking forward to my next few projects... lets see how I feel in 2 weeks

I finished the research for the 1850-1899 pages and I have a 10 rough sketches still to do on it. Tonight I get to put together the pages for 1900-1910 and 10 sketches for that too. It may not seem like a lot, but these journals involve a lot of stupid cutting and pasting that takes a while to put together. It is not very exciting work... very little this semester has excited me.

I have to finish my Ballet active wear project by monday, and I am a bit behind on it. I am not looking forward to this.

I really hope I have time to finish the new corset for the ren faire before Sunday! The pattern is mostly done, but I realized I forgot to actually drape one of the pieces, thankfully the dressform is still marked. I have to get some supplies, but I am kinda out of money at the moment...

I am feeling very sleepy right about now. Was up until about 2am last night finishing my Market research, but its finished now and I am happy, really hoping I wont have to do anymore this semester. We still don't have internet at home which meant I actually had to skip a class yesterday to use the school lab to finish my project. I hate having to skip a class, but it will be an easy one to catch up in.

I selected the swimsuit I am going to make for my body contour class. It is gonna be a dark blue one-piece with a halter top and a gathered mesh overlay at the bust. The mesh is white and has little skulls on it. Its so freaking adorable... I am going to dress up like a pirate when I wear it.

Also contemplating, within the next week throwing together a new corset to wear to the ren faire... oh sigh.

This weekend I have 25 flats to ink and render for my Ballet Active wear project. Maybe if they are pretty I will upload some.

I have to hang around school again tonight to steal Hailo's internet so I can finish my second 40 piece market research report, which is due friday. I only have 8 sketches done. Feeling a bit screwed right about now.

I got a horrible sunburn last week after a trip to the beach, and then spent the next day hidden away inside. But I used this time to start watching Escaflowne again, which has really made me want to work on my Hitomi costume for this winter. I also wish I had time to make something new for the Ren Faire at the end of this month, but I doubt that will happen.

Hopefully we will get internet back so I can post more stuff!

My stupid Rikku scarf sold for $76 on ebay. Two people had a crazy bidding war in the last 3 hours of the auction and it seriously got out of hand!!!! I can hardly believe anyone would want to pay so much for it, but I am not going to complain.... this is good news for me!!!

I have to say that I love doing these shoots, because it brings the garments into a different view point, from being just something I made for school, to being true fashion. And particularly with this set of garments, the dress form at school never did them justice! I am glad to have Mark around to do these pictures, besides it gives him great opportunities to develop as a photographer! Its really a win-win situation!

Rikku Scarf has a few days still on Ebay, 1 bid on it, but theres still plenty of chances to snatch it up!

In other knitting related news, my Machine Knitting class today was pretty cool. I made two 12 inch swatches of jersey already! WOW! Its actually pretty easy and I am looking forward to really designing the fabrics. We will be learning to do Jacquard knitting so we can have patterns and multicolored fabrics! I am excited. I did not appreciate spending $80 on silly little tools for the class though.

It has probably been one of the most stressful weeks for me. Work has been crazy, the commuting has worn me out, and already in the first week, I have more homework than I know what do with. I also got kinda sick this week... weird fevers and aches kinda crap. Still not feeling completely one hundred percent.

Despite the stress of the week, I think I am going to like this semester at school. Knit wear is something I am not as familiar with and I am really psyched about learning to use the knitting machines to make my own fabrics. My design class should be good too. I seem to have pretty good teachers as well. So all in all it could have been much worse.

I realize I still haven't posted anything from that photo shoot we did on the 18th, I have been lazy and we haven't even finished going through them... too much other crap to do.

I really want to get working on some sewing projects of my own again. Maybe once I get settled into the school routine I will have time to do some things for myself!

My schedule is very full though and these next two weeks are also going to be rough at work while my supervisor is still out on vacation. Blech.
