It's one of those books that captivates me in it's world and when I put it down I'm a little sad that it doesn't really exist. It would be really cool if I could do paintings that had the same effect. I think my favorite fantasy artists such as Brom, Adrian Smith, Dave Mckeen, Easley, all have that same kind of pull on me.
I'm really inspired by Adrian Smith's new card paintings. I recommend checking them out on his website in the Sabertooth gallery if you like Chaos, the more slobbering mouthes the better!

Also, some things are in the works for Dragon Mech. I forgot that it takes extra time to get used to the subject matter of a new game world. Everything I do these days is so influenced by Games Workshop, I'm just addicted to their aesthetic.

Quake I background music in the background. It used to be so boring, now it's genius. . . especially now during my favorite time.

The format of this is so linear, not quite like a real
journal. I would be able to make marks and sketches. . . . but words are nice too. I haven't kept a sketch book in a year. After doing 30, I don't see the purpose anymore. Nobody sees them and I don't want anyone to see them. They even scare me. I am two different people, so opposite, but everytime I try to kill off one of them it comes back to haunt me. There are two parts to the whole. The spiritual and the creative. Ironically the creative likes to destroy and the spiritual requires perfection. If I gave into either I would be insane.

E.E. could

make these

funnytypedboxes

interesting
is it worth it for me.

Everyone can see what you are inside.

Scary. But the creativity feeds off of the honesty. This world is built on lies, built on fear of letting go and believing.
ARe we being exhibionist or honest? I don't care. I must feed the creativity to be the artist. And I don't see the point of sketching on a hidden piece of paper anymore. If they knew what I know, they would be able to feed the creativity too.

Trent, so sad, so mistaken, but so perfect... the jumble of sounds and whispers. It's a collage of living, like sleeping and being awake at the same time and you are conscious of everything for the first time. That is the beautiful pain of the creativity. It threatens to consume everything natural, normal, and real. Sometimes i let it consume me, sometimes real life, love, and sacrafice is more important. But that is just a world of fears and costumes and really the unnatural is natural to me. Everytime I try to runaway I must look into the eye of who I really am. Nothing is safe, nothing is sacred, everything is beautiful and profane. i have my limits, but they will never be someone elses. The normal limits are nothing to me. I just use them to help other people feel comfortable at the same time I am always uncomfortable with other people's lack of limits and sometimes wish thy would pretend too.

But I'm not pretending now. This is a good place to try and not pretend for a while. Hopefully I can scare myself and maybe someone else. Besides this box only has words, none of those demon possessed creatures I'm fond of making.

I've finished a bunch of Warhammer 40k paintings, so now I'm inbetween jobs and playing around with new ways of painting. Thanks for all your feedback, deviant art has been incredible. Everything you have said has helped give me a better perspective of the direction I want my work to take. And many things you have said have been repeated by the art directors I have been working with.

I've gotten tired of doing work digitally. I miss the unpredictability and un undo-able mistakes of real paint. Since I like doing twisted, maleformed, demented (and dare I say deviant) things, mistakes and unpredictability are a good thing.

So I've decided to mess up my whole process and start doing acrylic and oil paintings in the same time that I've been doing digital work. That amount of time isn't a normal amount of time an artist usually needs, so I expect to turn out some pretty okay stuff and some really freaky messed up stuff. So I am really interested in what you think- even if you think man- is that the same artist? That's terrible.

PS. I plan on adding some requested DAprints in the next three days. Sorry I'm a print slacker.

We've finally finished the move to Rhode Island. Note to self, don't drive across country for fun. But, we had a good trip and a great visit at Gencon in Milwalkee.

Well some of the Warhammer sketches have been posted and I appreciate the feedback. I finished the Goff Nobz painting on a laptop during the trip. Hopefully I'll have time to post that tommorrow. Thank you to those who have bought prints. Any feedback on the prints would be appreciated too. I want to make sure they are top quality.

Sheesh guys. Thanks for all the nice feedback. I was thinking the Blown Away painting was pretty okay. But it seems to be more successful than that. Well there is much much more in the works. In August I will be doing five new 40k paintings, an orc dreadnaught, Nobz boys, eldar, another tyranid, and a thousand sons.

I'm really excited. The art descriptions for these illustrations are very inspiring. Nice phrases like "armor edged with razor blades" and "a power axe that was cut out of the side of a tank." It's going to require some overtime finishing the sketches while we move. I'm wondering if I should post the sketches on DA?

There's some nice work on DA. I'm impressed by the skills of some young artists that are in High School. It makes me a little envious to see such a great sense of design so young.

My wife and I are getting ready to move to Rhode Island. Moving is nuts. Too much to do. Moving in 2 weeks and 2 days.

All I want to do is paint all day. But no time.
