I can't play FFXII because my sister is playing DDR (hate!). So here's my opinionated take on the best 10 games of 2006!

Number 10
Super Swing Golf (and wii sports)

...shut up...it's good. I put them together because super swing is basically wii golf with more courses and chibi characters.

Number 9
Metal Slug Anthology

This is here because Bart brought it over and it kicked ass. (not due to Jay''s whining.) I don't think I need to explain why this rocks so hard, it's basically Metal Slug without the spending 80 bucks to beat one mission.

Number 8
Tales of the Abyss

Another title that probably should have been higher on the list, Tales of the Abyss offers players a return to the Tales of Symphonia's battle system, now featuring nonlateral movement! Tales of the Abyss offers incredible character design along with great story and fantastic music. The voicework and anime cutscenes do alot for this amazing piece of work. Tales falls behind in a couple of cattegories, the big one being that the story moves sluggishly at times and almost too fast at others. The only other thing I have to complain about is FOF (fields of fonons) mostly because nobody knows how they work and also because they were a waste of time.

Number 7
Hitman: Blood Money

This gruesome work was really "up-and-down" so to speak. All in all Blood Money is a real winner, from the excellent level design customizable weapons and gadgets and a holding system make this third person stealth game a near masterpiece. However it's not all good. Some of the new additions to the game made it far to easy. AP mines made brilliant hits into one-pice-puzzles and hand to hand eliminated the true purpose of both anesthetic and disguise. Even on Expert and Proffessional mode hits can be easily made using a pair of full auto ballers and your bare hands, undetectible high yield bombs are the cherry on top of the easiness pie. With the odds stacked so high in your favour something is missing, this game ends up feeling highly incomplete.

Number 6
Guitar Hero II

This is closer to where it belongs. Guitar Hero II is really like DDR only for your hands. The jams are sickeningly good and the there are enough excellent bonus features that this game is thuoughly satisfying even long after you've conquered the one player game on Very Hard. So where does Guitar Hero fall through? Nowhere really, other then the fact that it'll kill your hands.

Number 5
Godhand

There's only really one word to describe Godhand: Unique. There aren't alot of games that offer such a wide variety of customization and really interesting gameplay. This one's brought to you by all the gamemasters behind RE4 and Killer7, with Shinji Mikami heading the assault on your soul and senses. "What's godhand play like?" you may ask. Well imagine RE4, only replace Los Ganados with Punkass Demons and swap guns with a wide array of martial arts moves and you've got Godhand. You don't even need to swap out Leon because Devilhand is him with sunglaces. This game offers satisfaction supreme with special movie that will literally kick you in the nards and uppercut you into the stratosphere. You can mannage to milk about 50 hours out of this one with all the bonuses included. It's in five simply because parts of this one are either too hard or two wierd. But if your out for some laughs and asswhoopins spare no substitute.

Number 3 (tie)
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Let me say this before continuing. Zelda fanboys and fangirls stop put down your torches and hear me out. I loved twilight princess, it wouldn't be here if I didn't but I must draw the line somewhere and twilight princess had one foot over it. Basically we all know what's good about this game it can be summed up in 5 letters. Z-E-L-D-A. But what's bad can be summerized into three points. 1. Warping, this basically made epona obsolete and really took away from the whole epic quest factor, in the end it made thew world seem a hell of a lot smaller then Ocarina or even the mansion in RE. 2. The human segments of this game feel recycled, like someone put some makeup on Ocarina of Time, made you wait eight years then gave it back to you. 3. The wolf parts of the game suck. Like ALOT. Esspecially when there are games like Okami which offer you the same thing only more interesting, and a hell of a lot more fun. All things said and done it's better then Majora's Mask but worse then Windwaker.

Number 3 (tie)
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops

There's something to be said about a portable game of this quality. No strings attached, no catch, no problems. This game dominates. It's MGS gold, with uncanny visuals awsome cutscenes and a just a pinch of madness. A story so good it'll break your mind, gameplay that go han...

I can't play FFXII because my sister is playing DDR (hate!). So here's my opinionated take on the best 10 games of 2006!

Number 10
Guitar Hero II

This game deserves a hell of a lot more credit then I give it but, this is my hyper opinionated list. Guitar Hero II is really like DDR only for your hands. The jams are sickeningly good and the there are enough excellent bonus features that this game is thuoughly satisfying even long after you've conquered the one player game on Very Hard. So where does Guitar Hero fall through? Nowhere really, It's only number 10 because I suck at it.

Number 9
Yakuza

Now this is an unusual one. Yakuza is a crime game, at a first glance it may look a little like Saint's Row or Grand Theft Auto however on a closer look you will notice the difference. This one doesn't suck. Yakuza has everything GTA and Saints Row lack: Story, Character Design, well made hand to hand combat and mostly an experience that will appeal to people over the age of 12. Yakuza is more linnear then the afformentioned titles however it more then makes up for it with excellent voice acting, visuals and plot. However Yakuza can be tedious at times and it can be difficult to find required items. All in all an excellent rental title, or a nice buy if you really like film noir.

With the odds stacked so high in your favour something is missing, this game ends up feeling highly incomplete.

Number 6
Final Fantasy III

There isn't a whole lot to say about FFIII, loads of jobs and weapons make this game real portable winner and one of the best RPGs of the year. However there's a dark side to FFIII the insane difficulty spike. This game gets nigh impossible about 6 hours in. The story is also a bit recycled. If you've got a DS and whole lot of time to level up pick up this winner for sure.

Number 5
Godhand

There's only really one word to describe Godhand: Unique. There aren't alot of games that offer such a wide variety of customization and really interesting gameplay.
Well I'm done all my tests, My three end exams PLUS my yellow belt. Also I got FFXII and it destroys worlds with it's awsometude. Honestly I can't even believe how awsome it is!

I'm not sure if I mentioned him earlier but Egoraptor is the most excellent animator/artist out there. Why? You may ask, and the answer is simple. His Parodies and his voices. Honestly there are very few funnier people on the internet. They aren't witty or clever there's just some strange appeal to them, a certain randomness so to speak...
One is going to feature charecters from my favorite animes. The other, which will be on the opposite side of my room will be my favorite game characters. I'm probably going to paint them or otherwise somehow make them appear on my wall (i've heard of some place that can turn pictures in to wallpaper...but I'm not sure...) If I am painting it on I'm goona need the help of any artists confident of their ability to trace something on to my wall. It will probably be close to a year from now when I'm actually done drawing the preliminaries.

Some of the Anime Characters Present Will include...
Ergo Proxy, Speed Grapher, FMA, Hellsing, Gungrave, Samurai Champloo, Stand Alone Complex, Eureka seveN, Gunslinger Girl, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Negima, and much more...

some of the the videogames include...
Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, Tekken, Xenosaga, Killer7 (obviously), Soul Calibur, Guilty Gear, KOF, Onimusha, Devil May Cry, Tales of the Abyss and many many more...

You may be wondering where the art I promised you is...blah live without it!

Arrived back in Calgary today at 5:18 in the AM (grumble grumble) but I honest to god can't complain. I've just been to the most incredible city on this continent. A bold statement, yes, but one I can say with complete and total confidence. And Now, some fun facts!...*drumroll*

Fun Fact #1
The Belagio is an Asshole!
Sure sure, it may outwardly appear as one of the finest, highest quality and most beautifull casino/hotels on the face of the earth, but they are goddamn nazis in there!

Chris: Oh I wonder what would happen if I stopped moving for a fraction of a second....
*Chris is instantly sighted by the allseeing security overlord whom issues an order to his minions to anhilliate any potential non-gamblers, before Chris is aware of his actions the sky is filled with bullets and bombs as hotel security attacks with their bat-like wings a flutter*
Chris: what the hell!
*Chris then somehow manages to leap through a window and land in "the Parisien" miraculously without spilling his pina colada*

Fun Fact #2
The Luxor is the awsome
End of story, I mean I'm not saying that because I stayed there. It just plain kicks ass. Imagine a 30 story tall pyramid shaped hotel with a giant laset comming out of the top firing a perpertual green light into the sky after sunset. Kickass!

Fun Fact #3
Caeser's Palace is tooooo big. I love it, make no mistake but it's freakin' massive. It's almost 2 square blocks. Wowzers! In fact deeper in you can find the carcasses of those who tried to walk through all the stores in it strewn about with half yard margarita glasses in hand their bones being picked by Celine Dion.

Fun Fact #4
MGM grand are also the awsomeness. Straight up, not only is it classy and fun to be inside but there's a bar there called centrifuge where once every little while all the employees will just kinda leap on to the table and start dancing. And they're good dancers too. Also It has the best show ever: Ka (by Cirque du Soleil) but more on that latter.

Fun Fact #5
Never Ever Ever Ever Ever Ever Ever Ever Ever try to go up the Eifel Tower at night unless you've got a thing for 55 minute waits.

Fun Fact #6
You don't need to see the dancing waters at the Belagio 231 times contrary to popular belief.

Fun Fact #7
Excalibur is neato!

Fun Fact #8
Harrah's for the loose IMHO!

Fun Fact #9
Ka by Cirque du Soleil is hands down the best show in Vagas. the swordplay alone makes it worth seeing let alone the Capoeira spearman guy, the amazing costumes, beautiful set designes, daring stunts, amazing acting, breathtaking music, entertaining, involving enviroment and Absolutely awsome use of stage effects.

Fun Fact #10
They don't really care who gambles at the Tropicana they're just happy you came!

Pictuars will be added later!

Anyways. You probably aren't wondering how Chris has been doing recently. The fact of the matter is he's goona tell ya' anyways (and he'll do it in an excuisitly colloquial way!) I've been on the verge of explosion of satanic exams, to cope with this burden brought forth by the beast I've been piddling away money at the arcade (but I will kick all asses at Tekken 5, it saves me from being shamed at the DDR mat...) I've also been watching anime out the yingyang (School Rumble 2, Mai Otome mainly but lots of rewatches too, samurai champloo and some miyazakis too).

I've got a short miniseries thing in the works that I'll be able to show the world proudly fairly soon tentatively titled RK'D I hope to have a couple flipbook/strips up soon. The art will be rushedy, it'll be mostly for amusement purposes. The premise involves a group of regulars to an arcade (think cheers for nerds). I've even got an amusing intro lined up...

Any sort of help from people who play the following games would be appreciated...
-DDR
-Initial D
-Billiards/Pool

As of Friday I am officially Graduated from Highschool. And let me tell you It is a painfull experience. I have a hangover the size of New Jersey and I'm starting to forget crucial memories of what happened on Friday Night. On the other hand I remember it being an awful lot of fun. Anywho, I wanted to say that I'm still alive (for the most part) and I'm still drawing pictures. On the other hand the quality of the afformentioned pictures is highly questionable, and not altogether good. For now I'm goona rest and drink lots of water. When I'm feeling a little less dead I promise you more of the artwork that we all love. Some of the stuff I'm actually putting effort into is listed below...

-A congradulatory picture for a friend of mine who's managed to grab an incredible ammount of pageviews.
-Something to do with Leon biting Snake's style (yeah that's right you know it's true)
-Killer7 Mural Portion thingers...

and let me leave you with one short thing to dwell upon...

Sambuca is potent stuff. And don't be fooled by it's non-instantanious effect. When it kicks in you'll regret you drank a mickey of it...not that that's ever happened to me[/sarcasm]
stay tuned for goodish stuff
We went to the vendors which was pretty cool and I find myself completely and entirely jealous for Jordan's FF12 wallscroll, and her Hellsing Wallscroll amongst other things. We then had lunch, which was ummm...interesting? Then we just kinda drifted around for some time before Jay's sword got confiscated by Campus Security. Then stuff happened and we watched the FMA movie which was freakin' awsome. Went back to the vendors, didn't buy anything, walked home. All in all it was a pretty fun time. Next year I won't spend all my money directly before going. Also next year I'm actually going to cosplay. as Leon S. Kennedy. Joy!

Microsoft...you suckas got served.

I mean, An FFXIII by the FF crew and an FFXIII by the Kingdom Hearts crew. You're getting my picture here, ass kickins' all round. MGS4 will rape your soul and have sex with your brain. WHY? BECAUSE IT CAN! MGSP will do exactly what MGS4 will do but it will do it anywhere it wants, on a bus, a plane, at school, it's jesus only portable and *ahem* not card based. Warhawks just looks awsome. Motion sensor controllers...like the Revo (don't even think of calling it Wii or I'll rip your spine out with my endless glee. and while that doesn't sound possible I assure you it is...IT IS!) what does it all mean it means that microsoft is screwed simple as that. Soon they will fall into the dust, like the dreamcast before them they jumped the gun and now they will pay the ultimate price. divine retribution hath been administered. Now from above judgement will rain down. and it will do so in the shape of Solid Snake's head.

Speaking of Solid Snake's head...read this...and be amazed...

"While he didn't divulge a release date for the title, Kojima did go into some detail about the gameplay and the story. Players will control a limited number of troops through a single-player game, and winning battles will increase the size of their armies. Kojima wants to make these soldiers as collectible as possible, making comparisons to cards or marbles, and once they die, they do not come back. He also says that if you choose to give up in a battle, you may lose the ability to use some of your troops--how many depends on a wager that you place before the battle.

The game itself will take place in 1970, with Big Boss starring as the game's main character. A renegade unit called Fox has risen up, and Big Boss is tasked to eliminate them, which eventually leads to the formation of Fox Hound. This story will then lead directly into Metal Gear Solid 4. The graphical quality of the game will be comparable to the PlayStation 2, but with a lower polygon count in areas that will not be visible. "--From GameSpot

and FF13 will feature a female protagonist...and she's a gunner...it's not a guy with a sword. IT'S NOT A GUY WITH A SWORD. THE GIRL DOESN'T USE MAGIC. AND THE ENEMY ARMY ISN'T THREE LIGHTLY ARMED INTANTRY TROOPS IT'S ACTUALLY AN ORIGINAL RPG. PRAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIISE JEEEEEESUS.
But dispite my doubts about my capability to take a game featuring disney characters seriously I made a solid decision to buy this game, howver this was severly hampered by my lack of any kind of money. However I can tell you one thing, Grandia 3 is quite excellent! It's action packed and full of fun, Plus there's a Pirate Named Alonso (How Freakin' Cool).
"Have you ever heard of a Kansas City Shuffle?"

I think my face exploded durring this movie. And for the second time in history I found myself actually saying out loud "Holy Shit, Ho-ly-Shit!" (the other movie was fight club, and I guess saw could have perhaps touched that as well) the prime difference between this film and the afformentioned two is that after saw I was mute with amazement for about 30 seconds, fight club got me for about 5 minutes. But Lucky Number Slevin had me mute for honestly 25 minutes. It was so well assembled and acted, it's hilarious, the ending is one of the finest film's got to offer, the cast is great and none of them play very pre-assembled roles (Morgan Freeman is a mob boss as opposed to a nice guy and Luicy Liu plays an average Jane girl as opposed to some crazy assassin or something.) The score by J.Ralph is drop dead amazing, and don't get me started on the cinematography. Actually... do get me started on the cinematography, it was baffling, it made "V for Vendetta"'s camera work look like it was filmed by drunken a mexican gun runner with no hands. There really is no excellent way to describe the feel of LNS except perhaps a twenties gangster movie, crossbread with a contemporary assassination flick. I can however write an equasion for what this movie feels like it would be...

The Godfather + Saw + Fight Club + Pulp Fiction = Lucky Number Slevin

It's also good to note that the comedic portion of this movie is absolutely hilarious. Funnier then any movie I saw in the last two years (with the lone exception of The Producers). Some of the funny situations are funny because they are unexpected like...

The Boss: They call him the Rabi
Slevin: Why do they do that?
The Boss: ...well...because he's a Rabi.
Slevin: ...ok...

Sometimes the jokes thrown at you at an incredibly high pace and you can hardly follow them.

The Rabbi: You must be Nick Fisher...
Slevin: Must I? It really hasn't worked out for me this morning...

And although people have accused it of having too much of an aditude change I think they are violently mistaken. The aditude change was necessary for the movie to really spread it's wings. Honestly, give it a chance. You will be pleasantly surprised. I'd go see it if I were you.

In synopsis: It's got it all from Action to Comedy to One of the world's most Ironic Plots.
Overall Rating : 5/5
Flawless Excellence.

honestly it's not anyone's fault but my own for not telling people not to do it, but now we got 5 people sitting in a four person booth, and not only that but 4 people putting pressure on me to do something I would have liked to do in the privacy and confidence of my personal, closest friends. Well too bad I'm telling you anyways. I've drawn the first comic, slightly changing the events and angles now 4 times, it's not looking any better. I've decided to take a break (because I've done soooooo much that I reeeaaally deserve it) I'm goona draw some Chibi comics to help me get a little bit more in to the whole comic drawing vibe. Expect some cliche game comics comming up...possibly the Killer7 picture I've been drawing for like...2 weeks now.
Oh yeah, and if someone out there wants to ink my stuff please do, we both get credit and both of out galleries look better as a result.

Review number 2, "The House of Flying Daggers"

I saw this movie in theatres when it was first released however I never had the idea to review it until Friday when I rented it. Now that I've watched recently I'm entirely ready to write an effective review.

Now it's important to remember that THFD is a historically based martial arts movie so not surprisingly it features action sequences which seem to blow the laws of physics right out of the water (think "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" or "Hero") However the question with these martial arts movies is if they can pull off such incredible disregard for logic by making the artistic aspects of the film insurmountably beautiful and the action aspects of the film endlessly exiting. And like "Crouching Tiger" and "Hero" this movie exceeds expectations in that regard.

Like always I'll tell you first who not to watch this movie with. You're not goona want to watch it with that guy you watched "crouching tiger hidden dragon" with who said "Oh yeah right" and "come on that's impossible" every 2 goddamn seconds. If you are the one watching these movies while commenting on their take on gravity then please take a few seconds to realize that these movies are for entertainment and to showcase breathtaking artistic film making. If you still can't appreciate it then go indulge in a North American alternative like "xXx: State of Union" and be prepared for breathtaking scenes of Bad CG helicopters and excessive explosions, not to mention generic action stunts and action sequences to the captivating soundtrack which is an unhealthy melange of slipknot, drowning pool and eminem.

But back to the point, THFD is really all you'd come to expect from this genre as a whole. First there's the action, and let me tell you it is incredible, not just the fights but the bizzare half-dance echo game. The fighting however is very reminicent of the genre as a whole, yet simultaniously manages to be competely unique. That's the biggest advantage to throwing physics to the wind, it lets you have insane fight sequences. The fights are also remarkable because they only use CG when they need to. Anything actors can do on their own, they do. The next big thing to look out for is the acting which is awe-inspiring. Fans of the genre will be happy to see Ziyi Zhang as she plays a role similar yet different from her rolls in other films of this Genre. Andy Lau convincingly plays the bizzare roll of Leo, making well of a character which is rather hard to understand at times. and Last but Most certainly not least is Taekeshi Kaneshiro whom Ominusha fans will recognize instantly, who plays the playful and carefree Jin whom despite his careless aditude is a remarkable warrior. What is most remarkable about him in THFD is the fact that he manages to achieve an incredible balance of badassness and humor while maintaining his part as a humanly emotional person. In other words he manages to be emotional without being whiney and manages to be badass without being the goddamn terminator. All in all he did a fantastic job in the roll and I'm now actually super-psyched about the upcoming Tekken movie in which he will play the main character. The music is another thing to look (or rather listen) for. It has many overpowering precusion pieces but also has many soft, romantic parts. All in all the overture is absolutely amazing. The Plot is kinda hard to follow if you don't pay a whole lot of attention, and even though the movie has a very open ending, you can pretty much dicypher what happens by looking at history.

All in all THFD is an absolutely amazing martial arts flick with some extremely well done plot twists and a whole lot of great action, music and acting.

Here it is, the first of my many film reviews. its about "Goodbye Lenin"

I recently saw the film Goodbye Lenin. I enjoyed it, but it's definately not a hollywood movie, and therefor it's not exactly for everyone. The story follows that of a kid whose mother is an adament communist who lost her husband to the west. The story follows the kid as a kid but then jumps to him after highschool, looking for work and the such in east berlin. The story really picks up after his mother sees him at an anti-communist demonstration and has a heart attack. She goes into a coma for 8 months over which the Berlin Wall Falls and the two halves of Germany join. When she awakes however they must try and keep this news from her because if she has any particularilly shocking experiences she could go into annother coma and die. So basically the story is about a humongous farse, creating a world out of smoke and mirrors. It gets pretty crazy with everything from fake news shoots to switching the labels on all her food.

But like I said, it's not a movie for everyone, it has some attributes that could be called "unapealing" by the general public. First off it's in German, subbed. I know how many people loathe subs so I wouldn't be surprised to see people turning away from it because of that. There's also the fact that it is only really interesting if you're interested in the whole "Fall of the Berlin Wall" topic. But if you don't mind subs and would be interested in seeing the story of the wall falling from the eastern perspective then certainly go check it out.

Good: Fantastic Acting, cinematography, music, set design, writing, and some scenes are just so powerfully symbolic that you can't help but be amazed.

Bad: A tad on the long side, subtitles tended to go a bit too fast at times.

Hollywood Wishes: It could be this deep without being so goddamn convaluded.

My rating: 4.7/5.0

But anyhow me and some other people on teh DA are making a webcomic (pretend to be amused or something...please) they are as follows Me, Jay Wong (DA-ID: SyaoranRei), Keith Simpson (DA-ID: MWAG), Bartosz Piwnik (who is DAless), Jordan Dansereau (DA-ID: Dark-Rikku), Logan Raham (another who is DAless), and many many more (no not really but I'd like to believe so...by the way don't read the stuff in the brackets...and if you have go get your head pirahnaed or something like that).
