This summer has turned out to be quite busy. Apart from wedding season, I went to Florida to visit my Granny in the Villages, and to a family reunion in Iowa with my mom and brother. In June I turned 25.

A quarter of a century old already. It prompted me to think of how many things I wanted to do and still had the time (and sometimes money) to do so. I'm not where I want to be, so something has to happen here.

My plans definitely include college, something to do with work skill training, though I have no idea what, and travel. International travel would be a huge bonus.

Just recently I started my own file on Ocarina of Time after watching my brother play Twilight Princess (can I say, the graphics are beyond beautiful!).It has been rewarding and frustrating at the same time, but well worth it.

And as this has taken a priority for me right now, as with any obsession on the back burner, I have looked at fanart by the droves. It's pretty much the only reason I have started to come back more, however pathetic that is.

So sorry to everyone of my friends and watchers....there isn't much of anything to be watched.

Anywho, I have not been active in some time here. I've been using my time to plan photo sessions for my stock agencies (Istock and shutterstock). It's been slow, but there is something that has me in an obsessive grip.

Easter eggs.

Yes, I know easter is come and gone, but it is relatively easy to work with. It's fun. However, my egg dying skills are a far cry from perfect. Tried using dyes, but a combination of cross contamination of colors (using the same tongs) complicated things. So, I am now going to attempt dying naturally using food. Here is hoping all goes well.

After mastering the dying of eggs in vegetables and fruits, it is on to cupcakes.

That is all that is new to update. Really, I have no social life, aside from church.

Oh, there is one thing new. My nephew is now 1 year and six months, and walking like a maniac. He also adores Hide and seek like games, and hiding behind doors.

He freaking loves to open, close, open close. That extends to drawers, too. Thank God he hasn't discovered banging on pots and pans...that will be fun.

1. I can't stomach eating raw tomatoes, but tomato soup is just fine.

2. I have a tendency to start novels too big for me--ie War and Peace

3. Ever since the new Lord of the Rings movies by Peter Jackson were releaesed, I can't read through the novels anymore.

4. Mythology fascinates me--Norse, Egyptian, African, whatever.

5. Only on two occasions have excessive volume at a party ever got me feeling the need to run. It's scary.

6. One day I intend on a photographic series based entirely on Fairy tales in their original versions, inspired by a little book in my library. No inspirations yet though.

7. I do not understand the thrill of horror-and by horror, I mean gruelling tales of babysitters trapped in a house with the phone ringing off the hook and shaking with terror. In otherwords, things that can really happen.

8. My brother and I have some pretty random conversations--we improvise constantly.

Yep, I'm a big dork.

The winners are Naruto, Legend of Zelda, and YuGioh! in no correct order, if you are curious.

These days the news is important too...the whole situation with China and Tibet has me actually interested in watching the news again, besides getting tidbits in with the magazine The Week. The election is one big blah thing, with the democratic nominees mudslinging each other.

I hate those commercials...the ones with an overly serious paid voice over and loud music, accompanied point by point of how much one candidate sucks over the other. Why? They don't give us very specific reasons.

Anywho, gotta go to bed now. Babysitting tomorrow for my sister and then picking up 4 rolls of film (squee! can't wait!).

Turns out one of the rolls didn't come out well (I expected that), but otherwise, I got some great snaps! The images of local streets and awesome cloud formations came out better than I thought possible.

Portra film = the best.


In other news, I may be working on a regular basis soon if my sister (with God's grace) snags a job as a receptionist. Her little angel (my nephew) has gotten so attached to her lately, however, so it will be hard for him to accept that aunty is around more instead.

I left with 10 pages of notes that I will gradually implement into my life, but for now, I'm letting them sit and ferment. The house is a mess, the laundry room is a mess, and my closet needs sorting. Again. Between cleaning jobs I can catch up on Dr. Who.

If there had to be one memorable moment out of classes, it would be attending a performance of Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian. Oh, it was heaven. There were booths on both sides of the theatre filled with period-dressed manikins, a chandelier (where would it been without one?), and incredible singing.

Well, that's my little update. I just wanted to let ya'll know that I'm alive and well, besides on the lookout for jobs. Ideally, a part-time one.

It's been far too long since any involvement on dA on my part. However, with a day job now, it leaves the evening hours the only time I have for my laptop. It's fine that way though. During the day, I read. Lately, I've been getting back into the Redwall series.

Oddly enough, I skipped from the first book to the ninth, to the fourteenth. It figures that now I am waiting for the second book to be shipped (in the format of an audio CD).

Anywho...I am about to upload some pics for you. My parents are members of a photography forum that has a yearly cruise trip, and since all of us are part of the same studio, we all had the chance to attend. In case you are curious, it was a Carnival ship, Elation, that goes to Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, Mexico.

It was my first time there, so I didn't take many pictures as it was a feast in itself seeing a different country.

Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and our family going to join with fellow extended family members. We shall feast, play with the kids, and watch tv, maybe nap. And knowing the guys, they will most likely have a game on.

As far as Christmas goes, there isn't too much nailed down. We can't do much in the way of gifts, as we are looking into buying a new house. That means I will be getting creative then, hopefully pulling my act together to make some puzzles for my nephew (who is almost 9 months old). I have the stuff to make it too, which makes it easier.

Good news! My job as nanny of my nephew has officially started. It is so wonderful for him and us to see him 4 days a week, 8 hours a day, and for mommy and daddy. Plus, he is really crawling anywhere he can get, opening cabinets (and books). He also is starting to make sounds like da-da.

So, to the few who will ever read this, have a great weekend!


P.S. If you have not ever heard of Kim Edward's book, The Memory Keeper's Daughter, get it. It was a wonderful read, and even made me cry in a few spots. The characters really get into your head.

Well, I am now part of workgroup 137...which reminds me to update my footer sometime. Anywho, how are you all?

Today is a good day. I went to church, then made some lunch, finished my mad cleaning spree that started last night in cleaning my room and vacuumed the carpet. Thank God for a somewhat dust free room!

Imagine that, I can see my floor again.

Tonight is a event that a friend invited me to photograph. It's called the Black and Bling party--all the ladies (since it is a ladies only event) wear their favorite pair of blue jeans, a black shirt, and the jewelery of their choice. Beyond that, I don't have a clue what is going to happen.

Sigh, 193 deviations currently in my box. Why do I let it get so high? Does anyone else procrastinate on that?

The actual taking of the picture itself is quite easy, it just takes time. However, it is the preparation of the camera itself and the developing of the 'film' that is the real work. This journal would be a novel if I included all that. Ergo, if you are at all interested in this field, the following book is THE book to own/beg/borrow.

Pinhole Photography, Third Edition: Rediscovering a Historic Technique, by Eric Renner

Now that that is taken of, allow me to clarify something. The pinhole in pinhole photography is named for a tiny hole in gold foil/pie tin, taped to a small hole, about the size of a half inch, of your chosen container. What that is is up to you.

This hole is ordinarily covered by a piece of black electric tape with a bit of the top folded over, to make it easier to prevent light leaking through.

First step: scout for a suitable location. Find a spot that you can set your camera down on that won't cause it to wobble. If necessary, place a rock on it for extra stablitity.

This takes us to our second step: setting the camera down in a suitable location and getting down your time.
NOTE: take into account the weather. Say you are doing this in summer. A minute is an excellent base time.


This exposure needed a minute and thirty seconds. Compare this with


Since this was taken on a cloudy day, this needed more time. 2 minutes was long enough to get some detail, but not all the of the reflections I wanted on the windshield. After adding another minute, it came out beautifully.

There is quite a bit that I glossed over, but like I wrote earlier, it would be a novel.

1) my parents; to be specific, my mom. She recieved a Canon 300D rebel for a birthday 3 years ago and fell in love with flower photography. From there, dad took up a camera again--he did it in highschool with film. From there, it all developed into a business.
