Anyway, I felt I could enter a state of semi-activity, seeing as how I still don't have the ambition to work on my art, however, I would still like to talk to others and show off an occasional piece or two of mine... hopefully that won't suck that bad.
Why did I choose to come back now, of all times? Because I can finally access deviantart without using a proxy, which means I can actually upload stuff now.

Well, here's something I never quite expected. Although I'm not sure, I believe my IP has been banned from deviantart. I can't get through to the site on any computer in my house, which leads me to believe that, not only has my IP been banned, but my service in Anchorage might have been banned from deviantart altogether, maybe because some jackass who uses GCI broadband was being a dick here (it's easier to ban an entire service than search for a specific IP). I can't really say what the situation is; the scenario I just described is what !Weeniemann told me could be the case, and it seems pretty plausible, though it never occurred to me that Anchorage could house a dA dick.

Anyway, now I have to use a proxy to get to dA from my house, and I can't even upload new drawings anymore. To be honest, I haven't been pleased with deviantart as of late, since half of the time I'm here is spent loading and reloading pages that refuse to come up because of all the bandwidth the site gets. Not only that, the community has grown very much since I first arrived, which wasn't even all that long ago, meaning there's less room for recognition. This is all in addition to the fact that I haven't been artistically active lately, which defeats the purpose of being here.

I've met some nice people here, and have been able to stay connected to some of my friends as well, even more so after I moved away from them to my new home in Alaska, which is why it's difficult for me to say that I'm leaving dA. There aren't many of you who will read this, or who will probably even care, but I still thought I ought to explain some things before I left. I'll still frequent the site every once in a while, so don't hesitate to message me, but at least until this whole debacle blows over, my visits will be greatly decreased. Hope you all keep your art going, as will I. C out!

This includes, but is not limited to, the use of "photoshop" as a noun, verb, possessive noun, or the abbreviation of "Photoshop" as "PS". They continue their little lesson in grammar by stating that trademarks must always be capitalized and, as proper adjectives, must be followed by "the generic terms they describe". To the community of deviantArt, this is most heavily directed towards you and your inability to correctly capitalize on the use of Adobe® Photoshop® software.
If I asked you to think of the most arrogant, untruthful large corporation you could, you would probably think of Sony, or more specifically, Sony Computer Entertainment, which is the tech giant's gaming division which so miraculously bore the Playstation. Don't get me wrong, the original PSX was great, as was its predecessor, the PS2; but around the time the PSP came out, Sony had taken on this conceited, elitist mindset, supposedly believing that they could produce and provide, and in turn make a lot of money, no matter what specifically came falling out of their large, industrial anus.

The PSP was essentially where their creativity ended, as if its development was SCE's last stand, holding every remaining bit of manufactured potential and ingenuity that the dev team could ever provide. The product was magnificent, and still is in terms of hardware and versatility. Well, maybe not versatility, anymore. That all disappeared when Sony began to release new firmware, which hindered one's ability to use homebrew software, which was all that ever made the PSP unique in the first place. Besides its hardware. But once homebrew was gone, and none of the nerds could use emulators or hack the system any more, it's appeal flew out the door as well.

You might come back and say, "Oh, well they shouldn't be downloading emulators and playing old games anyway!" To begin, emulators are totally legal, as long as you originally owned all the games you download. Seeing as how my brother has a huge collection of old NES, SNES, and Genesis games, I don't have to worry too much, since most, if not all of the games I put on my PSP I could just as easily play on their original systems. I understand not everybody has this luxury, and it is a shame that they resort to "thievery" in order to acquire the classics. Well, actually, it's not necessarily thievery, since they aren't depriving anyone of the game. It's more like sharing, only Nintendo and Sega aren't being paid for extra copies of the games they could potentially be selling... actually, no, they don't even produce these games anymore, they would have no extra profit to begin with. The only ones who are really loosing out are the comic book stores and EB Games that survive off of used software purchases... not really. Actually, they don't make that much off of them (unless you go to Bosco's here in Anchorage, which sells old NES units for 80 fucking dollars). Besides, Nintendo and Sega have already been a part of the transaction, they aren't loosing any money at all from games they stopped making 10, 15, and 20 years ago. Well, unless you get the Wii's virtual console into the equation, but enough tangents, back to the PSP. So emulators aren't that big of a problem, no matter how unethical they may be. Let's move on to the true homebrew software, the freeware that is being distributed throughout the internet community... for free. Not too big a problem there either, nevermind.

Oh, here, I got one. You can actually download PSP games and play them. For free. That might actually have been a problem. Well, it is still. Those of us who were smart enough not to upgrade our firmware *huge glare at =Weeniemann* can still do this, and this does present a predicament for Sony, who's sole profits come from the sale of these games (in addition to some accessories). Well, for one, that's their fault for using UMDs instead of carts. Proprietary format my ass... Second of all, I realize that, had they used carts for their software, they could have just as easily subjected themselves to copyright infringement. Just look at the DS. Yeah, I totally see game copies flying left and right between all my Nintendo friends. Not really. I'm sure there may be homebrew carts for the DS that allow this, but why would anyone have reason to export them? (yes, export, because I'm sure you can only get them from China or Japan, or something; America isn't smart enough to do that) It's because the DS comes at a reasonable price. Nintendo produces little carts which each individually hold a specific DS game. These carts are actually chipboards, which means they cost more to produce than Sony's UMDs. However, they still retail for as little as $20 below the price of a PSP game! Yes, as little as! There are DS games that go for even cheaper! Just low enough to provide entertainment for the commons. There's almost no need for emulation or "illegal sharing", because that might actually cost more than it would to just walk to a store and buy a game. This is excluding DS download play, demo stations, and physically sharing game carts (you know, between friends, so this works just as long as you're not a loner) which go the extra length of helping you decide whether or not you would even want a game.

Finished it! Now I have the authority to come out and say that that was the best Zelda game to date. As always, the ending won me over, but what was interesting was I felt it was deserving of that title as of about halfway through the game. This is contrary to Ocarina of Time, which solely won me over for it's awesome ending (and the Gerudo Desert song ) I ran on roughly 38 hours (my save game says 37, but I couldn't save after I had beaten it). Truly, Nintendo was hard at work when they made this, and they couldn't have done a better job on it! It offered a fair amount of exploration, without making you run errands like in Wind Waker (I couldn't stand sailing across the ocean, which is probably why I never finished it). When I first saw some of the trailers, it reminded me a lot of Shadow of the Colossus. What was even more interesting was that I felt I was playing SotC each time I rode through Hyrule Field! The player/NPC interactions were excellent as well; there was a perfect balance between entering the lives of the secondary characters, and immersion in the life of the main character, Link. Truly a masterpiece in and of itself. It has met all my expectations, and then some, and it makes me anxious for the next major Zelda title.

Okay, seriously, what is up with this? Why are so many people crazy about Danny Fucking Phantom? It's quite possibly the worst cartoon ever, mainly because so many people actually like it. Whenever I browse through the popular deviations, there are always a ton of lame Danny Phantom drawings that somehow make it to the first three or four pages. What is so appealing about it? Are these stupid teens really so confused and insecure that they have to resort to Danny Phantom as a way to relate and resolve their own personal conflicts? I have watched the cartoon (quite a few times, actually) and the premise, story, conflicts, interactions, and jokes (which all sound like they were derived from some lame 50s sitcom; how old are the guys who make this shit?) are all absolutely terrible. Nothing will bring my piss to a boil like Danny Phantom, or any other "teen life" stories, and I wish people would stop giving it attention. This is all aside from the fact that there are so many better things to draw and post on deviantart. If you want to draw, at least draw with the prospect of getting better; I could've drawn a better cartoon than Danny Phantom when I was nine.

I finally found a veritible site for forecasting the aurora borealis up here in Alaska, and it says that there's a very high probability of the aurora showing up Friday through Monday. I believe forecasting the aurora is much more accurate than the weather (it was sunny all day here, but we were scheduled for rain) so I don't think it won't show up (watch there be nothing at all on any of the four days). Anyhow, I'm stoked, and I'll be sure to snap some photos and post them up. Weather permitting, it should be an interesting weekend.

"It's Monday, September the 11th of 2006, the five year anniversary of the attacks. Hopefully you've spent a moment to think about what happened, and then you moved on with your day. We've spent enough time wallowing on this, there have been enough TV specials with sob stories from families who were affected. It was terrible, awful, but it's time to move on... Stop with the touchy-feely TV shows, and get down to what matters. There are survivors of the incident with lung problems, and we are not helping them by having victims and families spill their lives out on TV."
-Tom Leykis

We're consistently reminded of this. Every time we go to the airport, every time we go to New York, nearly every time we watch coverage on the "War on Terror", we remember 9/11, and as awful of an event it was, we need to move on. We are not doing ourselves good by hanging onto the past. It is good to remember, to take a moment of silence, and pay our respects to the people who have suffered from this, quite possibly in our homes in private, but are the documentaries, movies, interviews, and constant reminders truly necessary?

It's just like every other Ghosts n Goblins game, but with better graphics (of course), better sound (obviously), and more stuff. Think of like a mix between Ghosts n Goblins and Castlevania; that's how truly epic it is. Plus, and this is a HUGE plus for a modern videogame, it's HARD! It definitely carries on the Ghosts n Goblins name, and I fully suggest you guys pick up a copy. I'm not quite sure if it has come to America yet, though; my version is in Japanese (lucky me), but it still kicks ass. Yeah, look out for it though, it's probably the best PSP game that will come out for a while.

I can't believe it. It's insane! It's incredible! It's unbelievable! On April 11, 2006, less than two weeks from today, I will be playing on stage at Carnegie Hall, in the famous Isaac Stern theater. Although you may think the show is all about me (I mean, come on, I'm so great), I will be playing in a Symphonic Orchestra group from Mira Costa High School (my high school ) This is the chance of a lifetime, and I am so honored and happy that I was able to make this in my Freshman year (man, I'm glad I wasn't born in 1992+) Currently, I am section leader of the Second Violin group, a position I worked for this entire year, and I will be playing front row center at the concert!

Just this past week, we had our send off concert here at Mira Costa, and it couldn't have gone better. Although we are still working up our tempos and our tone, I, along with our conducter Mr. Chris Schwabe and, as far as I know, the rest of our orchestra, was content with where we were at with our pieces. Not only do we sound good, but our songs are very interesting and fun as well. On April 11th, we will be opening with the William Tell Overture (think about people riding horses, now think about the song in the background: that's the song!), slowing down with a lesser known piece called Air for Strings, and finishing with the Capriccio Italien. All sound very interesting, and are really fun to play.

We are staying in New York for roughly 5 days, with a lot of free time on our hands. What I'm really looking forward to is watching Avenue Q, a broadway show. To reinact one of the scenes from the show, someone made this in my favorite game, World of Warcraft (do watch, it's really funny, no joke, mild cursing and some explicit content, but funny all the less ) [link]
In addition to that, we will be taking trips to the Natural History Musem, some well known restaurants, and finish off with a party on a cruise ship after the concert.

On a different note, I have some more big news. This summer (a date hasn't been set yet) I will be moving to Alaska. No, not visiting, not vacationing, MOVING! Like, for a few years at least. It should be an interesting trip. What's sad is that the thing I want to see most is snow, as I have never seen snow once in my 14 years of age Oh, and I guess I'll be moving away from my friends, but who cares about them

So in the mean time, wish me luck; life is about to get a lot more interesting, and hopefully everything will go as planned.

This past Monday, I had the chance to go to Disneyland. Being low on cash, I almost bailed, but in the end, I threw away well over $100 dollars ... *sniffle* my beautiful cash!

Despite my extreme loss of money, I had a pretty good time. I stayed from about 9 in the morning until all the rides shut down at 11:30 PM, just to make the most out of the $56 dollar visit (yes, that means that I did spend a lot on suveniers and food, but whatever). Anyway, I was lucky enough to go on Space Mountain a number of times, due to their ingenious invention: the fast pass. But, not only the fast pass got me to ride it a multitude of times: the ride itself continuously broke down, and I was happily stranded on one of those occasions. No serious problem, just something was on the track; I, along with the other stranded ride-lovers, wasn't even made to get off the ride, but they did have to turn on the lights to find the problem. With this, I was able to view the entire aparatus, and being the picky person I am, I had asked for a front seat on that particular ride! Thus, I was able to take a few photos of the ride in the light, and you may now view them in my gallery. This single incident leads me to believe this to be the best amusement park trip I have had, and will have.

Along with the Space Mountain event, I was able to go on just about every ride, as the park wasn't too crowded. I even got a ride on splash mountain, with a good view of the fireworks that were being shot at the night sky. All in all, I had a great time, and I knew that many people would enjoy these pics. C out!

I'm happy with how this drawing turned out, especially since this is literally the first time I've applied Photoshop to a hand-drawn picture. The gradient was a real bitch to do since I had to figure out how to properly use Photoshop. Eventually, though, I figured it out, as seen in the work.

I’d also like to add something to my SUMMER VACATION! journal. Although I’m free to wallow in my own crapulence all summer long, I’m burdened with summer reading… yes, I have to read the curious incident of the dog in the night-time by Mark Haddon. I’ve read about 30 pages of it, and I’ve found that it SUCKS! Basically it’s about a kid who’s trying to figure out who murdered someone’s dog, and instead of being like a normal novel, it’s like listening to the boy’s train of thought; there’s no consistency throughout the story, it never focuses on a single thought at a time. In addition, most of the time the boy tells stories about his life that are completely irrelevant to what’s going on at that point in the book. Anyway, don’t read it, it’s pure torture.
