It's been four months since my last journal update and two months since my last art post. Jeez.

So to make a long story short, real life (work) kicked in. Then Tropical Storm Fay owned my apartment. There was mold and allergies and the hospital and fights with the owners and then a broken lease, which leads us to debt collectors *sigh*. And now I'm sick again.

Feeling okay. I guess a lot of things have recently resembled the stock market.. but pretend the stock market is doing okay again today.

Otherwise, I've been more-or-less recently addicted to House and Persona 3. Oh and I got a PS3

In FITcon News... we are having an art contest for t-shirt/program designs. Check it out!

Time for reality to kick in. My month and a half vacation is somehow gone, and it's time to start my new job. No more waking up at 10:30, eating breakfast at noon, and playing video games all day. Also gotta rework my gym schedule now. Phooie. ^_~

I am addicted to Twilight Princess now. I've put far too many hours into this game, because I insist upon running around the over-sized map far too often to see what my new toys can do (yay heart pieces, boo rupees). I'm going to try to beat it before I start working. I want to play OOT now too... and draw some Link fan art. ^_^

Hulk comes out tomorrow. I hope it's not a repeat of the suckage of the previous Hulk movie. I'm way too excited about this summer's comic book movies - Iron Man (was awesome), Hulk, Hellboy 2, and Dark Knight. Good summer for movies. I really want to see Hancock too. Oh, and Kung Fu Panda was awesome ^_^

I need to finish up Hyou already so I can redo the FITcon website before I'm too tired from work. So lazy. I just haven't worked on her in forever. Bad Bri.

I find it really strange that people are so drawn to art theft. Maybe it's just testing how long it takes them to get caught. Challenging the system. Maybe they just want their five minutes in fame. Who knows?

But this one always gets me. I always get confused when people just post stuff on deviantART as though it is Photobucket. Pictures from Google and such. But this person is posting an established deviant's work on deviantART. So why do you feel the need to repost someone's work when it is already here? If you want a collection of work you like, why not just favorite it?

At least they give credit to the original artist..

Got back from FSC last night. Staying in a room with around 20 people makes it impossible to sleep much so I was much fatigued. Headed out during the after party so I could sleep in a bed. Beautiful.

The convention was great. I really enjoyed working with such a great variety of people, from convention staff to vendors to celebrities. I must say, though, that sitting behind celebrity tables is boring as all hell, but I had a lot of fun talking with Hugh and Danielle in our free time.

I also went to a casino for the first time, ignoring the one on my cruise ship three years back. I found it rather... not exciting. I think the only person who really liked it was Devon, as we kept losing him to the next slot machine. Heh.

I'm going to miss hanging out with the Sleeping Samurai guys, too. Joel even taught me rhythm ^_~ so I didn't stand around for the entire rave. Heh.

I think I could go on for a long time talking about the convention, but no one would really care. Haha... oh well. So to everyone I worked with over the weekend - thank you so much for the opportunity to do so! I had so much fun.

Firstly, working more on Hyou-chan... Redid a lot of the initial sketch. I reinstalled GIMP 2.2 and it is love! Anyway... comments much appreciated. Ceasing work on this only because I need to get up early tomorrow. It still has a lot of fixes needing to be done... ears especially (I struggle so much with ears!). Also... not sure Hyou-chan should be wearing something that short ^_~

Things that bother me #357 - People who sell reproduced versions of another's artwork for high prices. I understand that you still work to reproduce art. I did it myself to learn and improve. But I never considered selling. Someone else owns the character, the pose, the style, etc. Once again, just my opinion in the bottom of a barrel, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way. *sigh*

Haven't fixed GIMP yet. Didn't sleep enough and forgot how annoying it was. Started working on a new design for FITcon:



Lost everything once... then felt like I was scratching at thick paper with a dying pen. I used just the pen and eraser, a few layers, and only one color and size for pen. No pressure sensitivity. Why is it so badddd? *tear* I will fix her up later. Potential new FITcon design though, so yay.

Why is it so hard for me to draw someone looking happy? Boo... Shy little ninja Hyou.

Older Stuff from 3:30am

I'm completely unproductive. I just realized how late it is. Geh.

I started flipping through some old sketches that I had previously wanted to color and decided to chuck most of them. Que triste.

GIMP crashing way too much. Need to revert to previous version.
Get Photoshop is not a valid solution. Shove it

I'll fix issues post-revert... like magic disappearing shoulder. And eyes. And everything in general.



In either case, Nabari no Ou is excellent. And I love the hat. And I put the wrong character in the hat, but it was intentional. I suppose.

Dunno if I'll ever finish it. I have a lot of abandoned sketches... poor guys. But there are a lot of problems even though the picture is simple and ... meh ...

I don't think my art improves anymore. I need to work on that... Time to draw a new Hyou-chan for the web site. FITcon site also in need of lots of work. Blergh. Dreamweaver crashed tonight as well. *sigh*

Why are the neighbors still awake and talking outside? Walls are paper thin. Grr.

I should write up a to do list...

So I graduated college. My family came over, we went to the ceremony, we had dinner, I played Brawl with my brother and friends, I saw Iron Man (which was *awesome*), I partied, and so on.

Now I feel so unorganized. I keep forgetting to do stuff, like call people. And whenever I do call them I get no answer... and no voicemail... and sometimes a scary fax machine T_T. Uber fail.

I'm working on redesigning the FITcon website. Fun. I need to draw another Hyou. Boo.

I have so much to figure out. I have a month off and then my "future" "begins". *cough*

Dreams been on my mind a lot lately. Dunno why.

I beat WEWY. Was fun. Enjoyed it mucho.

If you haven't seen it already, Scott from VG Cats is starting a new comic called SUPER EFFECTIVE, based on Pokemon games. So far, it's two strips long and is hilarious.

Classes are very much over now. One project, one presentation, and one final away from a BS degree ^_^

In video game news - I got a Wii + Smash Brawl. I never played the Smash games growing up, so I suck royally, but it's too much fun >.< Additionally, a friend let me borrow No More Heroes so I have to play that too. Oh and I got The World Ends with You and I really like it, although Joshua is annoying and I get stuck in "omg must level up all pins as soon as I get them" mode..

And I got my black belt in Taekwondo. *yay*

I think 2008 likes me.

Only a week and a half of classes remaining! Then finals week... then graduation! I'm so psyched!

In the meantime... test, project, homework, quiz, etc. Boo!

So we started an Amtgard group locally and so far, I am really enjoying it. I love the feeling of working your muscles to exhaustion. I hate the feeling of sunburn, though. Gotta work on that *nod*. Heh.

I would really love to enter that contest for The World Ends with You. I will see if I have the time this weekend to work on my design. I can't wait until the summer brings me freedom from homework, and therefore time to draw once more! *yay*

I also can't wait to see Iron Man. It's going to be so bad ass ^_^

New shows out for Spring 2008. So far, I love Code Geass R2 (as I was obsessed with the original) and Soul Eater (I love the weird, crazy shit... heh). Soul also got me motivated to catch up in D.Gray-man which is so awesome as well. Overall, though, I am unimpressed with this season. I liked the winter shows, but now Spice and Wolf, Hatenkou Yugi, and Shigofumi are over T_T. Also, I finally got myself addicted to Firefly. About time.

So FITcon went really, really well. We had too much fun >.< The people were great, the vendors were amazing, the game room was much love, the spontaneous samurai rave was excellent, and I learned some foam sword fighting which was much love. Even came in second place in the tournament ^_^

I could spend hours describing FITcon in excruciating detail, but I think I shall pass. I will just say that it is definitely in the plans for 2009.

In other news, I'm getting closer and closer to graduation and my motivation is slipping further and further away. I want my diploma! I got an invitation to a ceremony for Outstanding Students so I'm psyched about that. I love awards ^_^ I guess winning awards has been a high point in my life. I love being recognized for my hard work. I guess that's a common thing, though... heh. But seriously, I have worked so, so hard lately. Always. Heh.

Speaking of hard work and FITcon, I'm still catching up on sleep. Haha... it is amazing what twenty-two hours of sleep over six nights does to a body. Sheesh. Recovery, recovery, recovery (and a cold! eek!). Haha.

In more exciting news, the pillows may be coming back to America next year! I was so sad to miss them this year (hint: they never came close to Florida) and the last time they came to America was years ago. *crosses fingers* so happeh!

And I should be receiving a signed CD of theirs... and they apparently know of me as the sexy nerd queen... haha... gotta work on that *sigh* (!sexy... haha... nerdy = yes, very yes)

I love this little map of the world with the little dots showing me where people visit me from. I think it's too cool. So for those of you who visited me from Australia, northern Europe, the Philippines, etc (sorry if I'm off... that's what it looks like to me), thank you! Your dots make me happiest! (I still love the little American dots too I just know that a lot of those are people I know in real life, so it takes away some of the excitement).
