Anyways I got a new toy, a Canon EF-S 15-85 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, Fantastic all-around walkaround lens, Much better than the Tamron 28-75 I had before it [I know I'm going to get screams from people about how dare I go backwards and get a f/3.5-5.6 lens to replace a f/2.8 one...But sod it, IS is more useful to me as is having working autofocus..]

In case you didnt pay attention today, Apple withdrew from the Chamber of Commerce over their stance on global warming, namely because they feel the Chamber of Commerce isnt doing enough about it, Now Greenpeace praised them, and now Green people everywhere are bitching, screaming, yelling or praising about it

One perspective? Apple makes things in China, China =/= good for the environment, And this is true, Hell go look at some pictures of their big cities, you cant see a foot in front of you because of the smog, people wear masks there for a reason, The air is -not- pleasant...Any clean images you find are most likely manufactured propaganda, Remember, China is not a free country, They control the media

Then you start getting into the bitching war about global warming, blah blah blah, yeh yeh, we know, you drank Al Gore's kool aid and now you think you know everything, Shove it, Humans around the world contribute 13% to total greenhouse gas emissions, CO2 controls are thus pretty much useless because they'll make little difference, Methane is worse for the enviroment, and Methane is produced by every living creature as a product of biological decomposition [its also in fecal matter and farts for the record]

So you wanna be green? DONT DIE, Fart, or crap ever again [Although i will state many sewage treatment stations actually take and trap the methane gas and utilize it to power themselves, They can actually almost self-sustain this way and use very little outside power...Thats actually quite "green"]

Then of course someone brings the mortgage crisis, banks, Ford, GM, Obama, and Bush into things, No clue what any of it really has to do with any of this discussion about the environment..

Which is my main complaint, Being environmental thinking is one thing, Then theres being a Communist Brainwashed Californian Environmental Douchebag, Eventually when you bring up environmentalism, someone starts preaching about "DE GUBBERMENTS IS DEWINS IT" or how its all the problem of "BIG CORPORATE GREED" [Which maybe while partially true, is also partially bullshit because a lot of these environmentalists praise companies like Toyota who are equally corporately corrupt..] then complain about money money money and how "its wrong to think of money" when the truth is, its easy to not think of how much something costs when you're likely an upper-middle-class dipshit with more than six figures in the bank, Because you don't live in the real world where people don't make 6 digit incomes, where people don't have the money to blow on some impractical $40,000 car and where you're constantly worried your job might not be there tomarrow

And then Michael Moore or Al Gore will get introduced..And then the monkeys start throwing shit at each other...

And this is why i just stay the fuck out of the discussion...Because in the end, it always gets sidetracked and someone starts preaching Communism..or something else..And it just gets stupid

We had a bad lightning storm a few days ago, Well almost a week at this point i guess, so I decided that since it looked really bad out id shutdown and unplug Amaterasu to be safe, Give her a break after running for 2-3 months straight [Whenever it was i upgraded her]

Storm passes and its the next day, I plug her in and go to fire her up...And what do i find? One of the essential windows system files went corrupt on me and i cant boot into windows anymore...

A little investigating using a command prompt and some DOS commands reveals all my important files on my primary drive array were fine, So i went to best buy and took some money out of my camera fund and bought myself a 1TB external with the intention of installing a spare internal drive, installing windows temporarily and copying my files off the RAID array

Few issues with my spare internal drives, but besides that all went well, i recovered my data from my C: drive and went to reinstall windows, hit a few more random problems that resolved themselves and finally got windows back on the other night and started to restore shit..

Now im still having more random problems, The most annoying of the bunch being I cannot get itunes to install [There are 2 people who i will accept some advice about this on, They know who they are ] the installer is just packing up and not doing anything at a certain point for a reason i've yet to determine...

and the second problem being every once in a while i completely lose my -wired- network connection and have to swap to my other ethernet port...for no apparent reason, No its not just the internet connection, its the network connection...

On top of that, my Amaterasu aint runnin like she used to, She feels a lot slower and more sluggish, and this is on a completely fresh install of windows...Windows picture viewer [Which i use when looking through my extensive archive of non-photography pictures] is VERY sluggish for some reason, it actually has to -load- now which it never had to do before...

Somethings wrong with her and i dunno what right now...

My mom takes our dog out on the leash, And next door's asshole of a father is sitting out there with our neighbors dogs, Who proceed to run against our fence some more

Nope, just sits there, meaning my dog has to go in because we dont want our fence damaged [Which is on our property and we paid for]

My mom goes out to yell at him, asking him if he's just going to sit there and ignore her and ignore his dogs jumping against our fence

Ignores her completely, Not one word to her

So she gets mad, and i followed her [Because i dont trust this guy ok? Honestly]

She goes around to hell at him where he cant pretend to ignore her, He outright is disrespectful to her ["Yapyapyapyap i dont want to talk to you, Go away" followed by stuttering go away repeatedly]

My mom informed him that this is why our fence is likely going to come down, And then he better learn to control the god damn dogs

When my mom said her piece, I had enough of his attitude, Gave him the finger and said "You know what? You're a fuckwad, You can fuck right off asshole" because honestly? He's disrespecting my mother..and i dont like that shit

That got his attention

He proceeded to jump up and threaten me VERY loudly, telling me to hop the fence boy and say it to his face, I turned and grabbed my mom because frankly, This guy? He kept trying to antagonize me, See honestly? I'd have kept going with verbal remarks about what a fucktard he is, But I decided id rather not given he was at their gate and could easily loose the dogs on me, and having to protect my mom I didnt like my chances...

I came home and I was quite..broken down..and terrified..and screwed up by the entire thing though..I have been threatened before but never like this...

And now it gets worse, doorbell rang, its the police, Apparently I threatened him and shook my fist at him, We're now advised to stay off their property period, if we have a problem, we have to call the police...who will "take care of it" And also, Their dogs are allowed to jump against our fence...

So now this entire thing has reached a breaking point, i dont know what we're going to do...

And apparently we might end up having to go to civil court to have something they placed on our property [A fence] Removed from our property since they got no permission to put it there...Also if theres any damage to our fence...

Also apparently they've had stuff done to their property or something, and keep blaming me or us...So i have no clue...

Also i mouthed off to for that im sorry, Really sorry, I went way too far with it because im in a bad mood..but what you said was not sensative to my situation right now...You dont know how i feel right now, At all, Seriously

What did I do? I swapped out the primary RAID 0 for 2x 640gb Western Digital Caviar Blacks in a RAID 0, giving me a 1.28TB C: primary RAID Array....

The other thing I did was upgrade to 8gbs of OCZ Blade Series DDR2 800 CAS4

And I changed my OS to Windows 7

So far everything is running very stable...

After a week or so I'm going to write up my impressions on Windows 7 for any of you curious

I loved Star Trek..but I was disappointed in something...the Theatre...

Really...my mom and I paid over $40 to see it...$20 for tickets and $20 for refreshments, $20 per person basically...and we got to see the movie and we got some really shitty pretzels and some horridly watered down soda...

But that wasnt all..

See..to me..going to a theatre means I'm paying to have the BEST audio and video quality thats technically possible, I HAVE a respectable home theatre [Actually TWO] where I live, and really since we got home theater, my family struggles to justify going to the theatre

Tonight...well..the technical quality of the screen was..poor to be honest, The picture looked kinda washed out..black wasnt "black" and it just lacked resolution and "pop" ...it certainly didnt look as good as either of the HDTVs in our house, Especially not as good as blu-ray

Sure making an image that big is hard I guess..maybe I should have sprung for the IMAX instead...

the audio quality was...Meh...it really wasnt too good...the explosions lacked "oomph" and emphasis behind them, I mean its not the worse I heard...but its not as good as my home theater system...

Sure, I can explain why this all is, This is an older theater now, It was built in like..1998....It still projects primarily film when a lot of these movies are moving to Digital projection...The speakers and audio amps and everything date back to that time as well...

I mean..I guess this is why I quit going to the theatres..I mean I'm sad as hell to be honest sometimes to see my friends all go, but the reason I dont is that even if I go by myself or with a friend, I'm still out $20 or more at all my local theatres

People bitch because a Blu-Ray disc costs me $25, Well...going to the theatre costs me $20 to see a movie wherein I have to sit in an ungodly uncomfortable chair, listen to everyone else around me, cant pause it if i have to take a piss, either be dehydrated, frozen or starving throughout the thing if i did want to save from having a drink in the theater..and in the worst instances, deal with screaming kids ruining my experience because the ushers cant do shit anymore without the risk of being sued for "discrimination"

If the theatre is going to survive its going to have to evolve and become a much more premium affair, When I go I expect INSANE video and audio quality, I expect to be WOWED by it...Movie theatres existed before television, When television came it wasnt widespread and was expensive so the theaters continued to survive, Then it evolved to give quality that television couldnt..and thats where its been since people started having the option of having a VCR in their home..

I've only seen one thing in IMAX and from what I remember, it was amazing, IMAX needs to become the NORM not the option, They need to start adopting high end digital projection systems in more theaters, and they need to maybe make a few upgrades to the sound systems of these theaters...

Maybe work on a new format, Maybe bring back Cinerama....That would be cool

[For the uninformed, if you think IMAX is huge, lookup Cinerama, Cinerama needed THREE projectors in perfect alignment to work right..but it also needed 3 perfectly aligned cameras and a bunch of other things....but it was like IMAX on steroids]

I dont hate the theater, I just hate people who on one hand bitch at me for "wasting money" on blu-rays because they're expensive, and then go to the theater every week to see a new movie at $20 a pop...

Not a Trek fan to begin with? Give it a shot, Its certainly a very interesting and fresh take on the franchise..you might not get a few "in-jokes" but its still amazing to watch...


Now then, there might be spoilers below here:




Ok far enough

Now then, my complaints:

-The Kelvin had 800 people? The Hell? A Constitution-class [AKA The Original Enterprise] had a crew of 430 and the much later, much larger Enterprise-D [Galaxy-class] has a compliment of 1,014 or so including Civillians...the Kelvin was from what I could tell a LOT smaller than a Constitution-class ship...and certainly NOT the size of a Galaxy-class ship....They also seemed to evacuate in maybe [overestimating] 10 shuttles, Minus the one the Captain took to Nero's ship, so 9 shuttles...each if you cram full of people can hold maybe a dozen people [Hey look, you're getting out of there, Guess what, Cram in there fuckers] So I think Pike meant to say EIGHTY people, Not 800..

-Chekov's acting, Er....he WAY overdid the Russian accent, Chekov was NEWER wiss wad at speaking engwish......Though it was funny as hell

-Spock and Uhura....Uh..overdone a little...but before anyone gets nuts, they state on Memory Alpha that Uhura HAD tried to appeal to Spock's human side, and that she looked up to him "as a mentor" ....Keep in mind that originally this was a TV show from the 60s...and at the time, any form of relationship between Uhura and anyone -not- African American was TABOO [Yes they later violated that Taboo, and it was great] so this could be seen as a more modern interpertation of that..

-The pacing felt "rushed" but then again its a 2 hour movie wherein they're trying to reintroduce the entire main cast and give them screentime, To be honest, this is a minor complaint

Now then..my positives:

-Kirk in a Corvette...XD

-Kirk and the Kobayashi Maru Test

-Scotty, period

-Sulu kicking ass with a sword

-The moment Engineer...whats his face....was mentioned I turned to my mom and went "I bet you he dies in 3 seconds" ....Then being proved right

-Sulu stalling the Enterprise

-The Federation Fleet...

-The Remains of the Federation Fleet [You'd think Starfleet would have LEARNED after that...That said, the Narada was ADVANCED, it raped a Klingon fleet in the future, a Klingon fleet Commanded by WORF for god's sake..it had stolen Borg technology and a whole host of other junk inside of it that made it basically a 1-ship fleet..The ONLY reason the Enterprise won was the Jellyfish ramming it AND the resulting singularity...]

-Seeing Spock break

-The entire Bones chasing Kirk around the Enterprise with Hyposprays..

-Seeing Spock with Spock...

-Seeing Spock with Kirk

-One word "...BULLSHIT"

Yes I'm a Trekkie, have been for many years, like my parents before me And honestly, I love it, the new movie looks to be very good [I've been reading the Countdown comics, The story presented in them is from the writers for the Movie, and bridges what happens in the Movie to Nemesis, also gives Nemesis a GOOD ending..]

It technically opens everywhere on the 8th, but theres a showing tomarrow at 7 that I'm seeing, and yes, I'm very very excited and happy

For the uninitiated and uniformed, they've made a new Fullmetal Alchemist series..

Why?

Because if you've read the manga, you realize the original anime jumped the shark rather early on and went a bit nuts, the manga has a much more interesting and deeper story than the original anime adaptation had..

But thats not saying the original anime stinks, it doesnt, its still very good..but it lost its luster once i started reading the manga...which i finally did only recently! [And im addicted]

Anyways, Brotherhood, or Fullmetal Alchemist (2009) or Fullmetal Alchemist 2 is following the manga a lot closer....the action moves a lot quicker, and they're changing minor things just to make it not entirely boring if you've seen the first anime and read the manga [The first episode is an..interesting adventure that takes place before Ed/Al go to Lior, which is where the first anime and the manga started...it hints at a lot of the later plot points, but its an excellent "grab" episode to get you hooked]

Episode 2 is a flashback explaining how Ed/Al lost their limbs and body respectively

then so far from episode 3 on has been following the manga fairly closely

The art and animation is..outstanding..beautiful..the sound is amazing, the opening and ending songs are VERY good [Especially the opening...]

Recommendation for how to get it? Eclipse's h264 1280x720 is excellent, they do great subs, I also believe Shinsen-subs is subbing as well, and their work is also fantastic [I have most of Gundam 00 from them]

Its also I think available on Hulu from Funimation, but I personally dislike streaming video, Sorry Funimation, I apreciate what you're trying to do, just know I probubly will be buying the blu-ray/dvd of this series when its available [I hope Blu-Ray will be an option given the high definition production...]

Next thing I see is some guy with a camera heading towards my backyard

So I go out and meet him in the backyard...Somewhat worried [Ironic I know given what happened to me..however I was also not on someone else's property]

Its the Erie County Health Inspector, apparently a neighbor complained they saw rats swimming in our pond

I then lead him on an inspection of the property, he told me "we have a rat infestation" and made a massive laundry list of things to be done before next week, when I said I was planning to do a lot of it he quipped about it being a "Really nice day today you know" to which I responded with "I have stitches in my back, I CANT do any of this shit"

Yup, our pond is now being filled in all because my fucktarded neighbors, the assholes who leave their garbage cans open all the time and have a garage with a rat colony under it, decided to call the fucking county on us because "they saw rats swimming in our pond" somehow, over the privacy fence....in their 1 story home...which doesnt even look over our property..

These are the fuckwads that we caught throwing dead diseased rats on our property, and were out there digging and throwing the dirt over our fence when they thought we werent payingattention

Also I confirmed it is in fact illegal in my county to have a bird feeder, $150 fine if you're caught the first time..as well as a court date

The county guy was less than pleasant with me, he was moreso with my mom and changed the way he said things to her, as well as going from a rat "infestation" to "just passing through"

But since the citation he gave us said to fill in the pond, well we're doing that because we dont want trouble...

Now, next time i see their garbage cans open and agape I'm photographing it and calling the health department myself...I'm sick of being ridiculously nice to those fuckwads, and note its that house that brought the rats here in the first fucking place

But anyways, no more water lily pictures from me, or dragonflies.....no more birds in my backyard or anything else

And its all my neighbors fault

Note im not quitting photography or DA or anything, I'm just not going to be able to do the stuff in my backyard as easily...

Today I got the replacement for my Sigma 150-500 OS, a Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS USM and so I went out to use it in my neighborhood in the late afternoon...Because you know, theres birds out now and I wanted to get some pictures of them

So I'm sitting there and looking at a bird up a tree, watching it, waiting for it to move so i can get a better shot of it..and out of the corner of my eye I see a police car pull up

I'm thinking to myself "Oh maybe he lives here...."...

Nope...

Someone called the police on me, they were worried I'm a pedophile or a stalker, So I talked to the officer, who was very nice, very polite, and most of all respected and understood what i was doing, I shared my pictures (Some of them at least to show what I was doing, though i had nothing on there that was illegal and wouldnt have minded going over the entire card)

He told me that i should go about my business, took my information, which he had to do, but it was still irritating for me, and im sure for him

Now keep in mind, I'm not some "stranger" I live here and have lived here for over 10 years.... most of the people living near me know im a photographer..I used to deliver the papers to people...I'm far from someone these people shouldnt know or remember, on top of that I'm VERY careful to NEVER point my camera at any of the kids in the neighborhood or anything

The sad thing is that while this is the first time i've been actually stopped by a cop, its not the first time its been threatened on me, Someone who lives ACROSS THE STREET from me came out in her car and was screaming about me being a terrorist and how she was calling homeland security on me because i was out taking pictures at night...

Thankfully that bitch moved away But apparently im not safe -sigh- I need to carry my id with me as well from now on..as well as my press pass...

Oh yes, Dubbed...

Now why you ask? I don't know, I figured for all its criticisms, I still remember loving it, and i never watched the earlier episodes, ie from the start....

And you know something? I'm enjoying it..

For one, watching it like this, it doesnt feel anywhere -near- as slow-paced as I remember, actually it feels on par with series like Naruto or Bleach almost..

I mean look, its not the best anime ever, really its not, but then again, its somehow loveable because it pretty much took any and all rules of sense and just...got rid of them....and that somehow just makes it good...that and the corniness factor of some of the dialog...

Goku is still lovably stupid and naive, Piccolo still kicks ass, Gohan still makes me wish Goku was sterilized [At least now..], Vegeta still strikes me as a complete bloody dipshit [But lovable for it somehow] And Bulma, really, really needs mood medication...or something...

And i somehow want to punch king kai in the face a few times...or maybe just use a baseball bat..or a 2x4....something else blunt heavy and painful....

[Even then, Shippuuden didn't make me COMPLETELY happy, many parts of it felt like it dragged out...I got pissed around the time of "An entire episode for the old bitch to die"]

Then came Hidan, and Kakuzu...and I actually got rather excited again, they were superb characters, both of which were amusing as HELL to watch

And then theres the fight between them and Kakhasi/Shika/Choji/Ino/Naruto/Sai/Sakura/Yamato which made me actually like Naruto [Since he finally grew from just pummeling things to death with infinite kage bunshins and actually -shock- strategized...and Shikamaru just completely OWNED Hidan]

And now we have Pein...

Pein has so far killed 2 of my favorite characters, [Well possibly on the second, theres still a chance he may live]

Many fans are deriding this, but I'm praising it, its about time some more people we actually care about die in this series, first Asuma died, and then ------- and now -------- is looking like he's dead

And of course Sasuke barely killed Deidara, and then kicked the shit out of his brother [I criticized their changing Itachi from just a badass into something more at first, but now I think it was a good move..]

On top of it all, now theres a big conspiracy theory..and the story is finally starting to feel like its going somewhere [The main one that is]

Seriously if I see/hear anything about Twilight, I'm going to either puke or smack someone...

I'm really sick of seeing stuff related to those books and the upcoming movie, im sick of the hype, im sick of everyone talking about it, yes I know, its the new Harry Potter, its the new girly fanwank book...I DONT CARE

Why don't I care? There was a time I actually thought it sounded good and interesting, then it just got to the point that I did nothing but hear about it every five seconds [I'm looking at you ]

Then Sara linked me to a few summarizations of the books and I really rolled my eyes at alot of it [granted, the summarizations were written from a standpoint meant to shut the darn fangirls up]

Maybe the movie would improve it but I dont know, I don't see myself wasting the money to see it...and the reason is simple

The Hype Factor

To me, when something gets praised or hyped or recommended by a friend or someone, I take it seriously, it builds it up in my mind that "gee so many like it then it has to be really -expletive- good" And then I'll watch it, read it, or play it and then go "Meh? That was IT?"

So now I have a couple rules, 1. only certain peoples praise will really get me interested in something thuroughly [Sara, Carrie, Em, and a few others im being lazy at the moment to list] and 2. if its everywhere I look, don't bother with it, it most likely will not make me happy

Now of course, this has been proven wrong [Gundam Seed for example, I was sure it was going to be a half-hearted ripoff of the original Mobile Suit Gundam, but in fact I found it to be a very good re-imagining of the original series and to be a good series in its own right] but the fear of it being proven right has made me not watch some things [Neon Genesis Evangelion for example, hyped as one of the best animes ever, I have never seen, because I fear it will never live up to the hype in my mind]

Now to note, this only happens with mass "fads" things like Harry Potter[Which is meh...But I might rewatch the movies], Pirates of the Caribbean [Which I actually loved, I thought it was going to be terrible from all the hype but I found it to be an excellent series!] Bleach [Proven wrong again!] and Twilight

I was basically talking to Sara about the idea..and then I started writing out the Myths..Here xD



Chuck Norris made man in his own image, and then realized that if man was to populate, he'd need women

So Norris created another man, a man devoid of a manly beard...and then he roundhouse kicked him in the penis so hard it inverted, and thus formed a place where little Norrises could grow, and he sent his testicles up to his chest to produce manly milk for little Chuck Norrises

Chuck Norris decided that he wanted Man to be manly, and so he didnt populate the world like a paradise, FUCK no, he created cratures big enough and strong enough to KICK MANS ASS, He made the WEATHER try to kick mans ass, he basically said to everything out there "Yeh you know Man? Kick his ass and you get to be my new favorite"

One day a man had asked his woman to make him a sandwich and the woman refused, the man asked again and she still defied his need of a sandwich, so the man prayed to the Norris, and he came down

The true message is there are honestly VERY fine lines between Obama and McCain and what they say, they agree on the issue but split hairs on how to fix it, when the truth and the reality is they're both right and what both are suggesting need to be done

The Truth is, McCain's plans are focused more in the now, and Obamas are focused 10 years down the line

The truth is, people of my generation don't like McCain because of Bush, but a lot of the blame towards Bush [Mostly the Economy] is really Clinton's fault, NAFTA is why we lost a lot of jobs, especially in manufacturing and such, we lost the blue collar bread and butter jobs in areas like Buffalo and Detroit because of it...

The truth is, a lot of people like Obama because he says what they want to hear, But think about it, can he really deliver everything he says? I doubt it, and a lot of what he said is very "feel good", the man knows how to talk...

The truth is, in this country RIGHT NOW we have problems, we have BIG deep problems, and this petty stupid fighting because "I'm a Republican!" "and I'm a Democrat" and the two of them doing things solely to oppose and throw a wrench at the other out of spite is just going to make those problems worse

The truth is, Neither candidate is that strong, truthfully, a lot of people seem to want to vote for Obama merely for "change" but they dont actually listen to most of what he says, Him and McCain agree on a lot of things, the key difference is just McCain wants to cut a lot of government spending to balance out the budget so that our country can recover, whereas Obama wants to invest invest invest into more feel good things, Which while they feel good now, will most likely unravel 5 or 8 years from now, and will hurt our country even more, and whatever president replaces him will probably take the blame for the effects

In fact he might even plan on that...because big grandiose plans sound better than small ones..

But as i said, the truth is we need to do what both candidate says, They're both right

The Energy thing is a key example of this, Obama is talking 10 and 20 years down the line with his energy plan, McCain is talking making life better now, the fact is, we need domestic oil to reduce foreign dependency as much as we need a replacement for oil as a whole

We need Nuclear Power to replace the aging coal and oil plants we have, Solar and Wind cannot support our electrical grid yet, and Nuclear is actually very safe contrary to what a lot of people feel

And to you environmentalists, those power plants cause most of what you all theorize cause global warming, cars as a whole contribute about 7% to greenhouse gas emissions, power plants are a large number above that, Nuclear power plants contribute nothing to those gasses and can provide clean efficient power, we even have a nuclear storage site that can store an aweful lot of nuclear material securely and safely

That said, Oil is not a renewable resource, we need alternatives, we need more widespread use of biofuel for instance..

The truth is however, we are a house divided, and a house divided is a house that falls

What we need is a strong leader who can both plan for the future and plan for -now-

The fact is, thats neither McCain or Obama, each one is too much of a polar opposite..

And for that, I'd probubly choose the now, choosing the future, trying to work for the future, it will just make things much worse before they get back to being tolerable, we need improvements to this country now..

To put it another way, if you get a window knocked out, you dont start just planning an entirely new house because of it, without bothering to even fix the window, or even put some plastic to keep rain out right? No you don't, because thats stupid...

I am actually on the fence on this one, I don't like either candidate, I feel Obama is too young and idealistic to lead a country, I feel he promises the things he thinks will get him elected and bops back and forth on important things [And not to mention my big BIG issue with him, the fact he was a Muslim, he put up a stink being sworn in on the Koran a few years ago, and NOW he's a Christian in a largely-african american denomination of Christianity lead by a royal asshole]

Also Obama wants to condemn Iraq to going back to how it was or worse, by basically saying that within 16 months of being Inaugerated he will pull all the troops out, this sounds wonderful, but in reality its making everyone who died there have died a pointless meaningless death, at the very least we need to finish what we started in Iraq and stabilize their country with every bit of assistance we can, Argue all you want about how justified the war is, thats super, but the fact is, WE WENT TO WAR, BOMBED THEIR COUNTRY, DEPOSED THEIR LEADER, MESSED UP THEIR GOVERNMENT, AND AS A WHOLE HAS MESSED THEM UP AND THEY REALLY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT TO DO RIGHT NOW, ITS OUR RESPONSABILITY TO GET IRAQ TO THE POINT IT HAS A SELF-SUSTAINING GOVERNMENT AND A POLICE AND MILITARY FORCE THAT CAN DEAL WITH INSURGENCY

McCain seems to promise more realistic ideas if you think about it, but at the same time he supports NAFTA [Which by the way, THAT WAS CLINTON, the Economy was CLINTON not BUSH, Bush hasnt helped matters, but its in such rotten shape because of that Arkansas dipshit] whereas Obama is ready to break that treaty to get some American jobs back

Also McCain is thinking of creating some rogue group of nations "to act when the UN refuses to act" That I very much dislike the idea of

I support McCain's energy plan, because it fixes things now, whereas Obama is concerned with the future, alternative fuels are wonderful! Except what good are they right the hell now? And the answer in the now is to reduce our import of foreign oil drastically and take a good chunk of power from the big Saudi oil barons and OPEC, He also supports Nuclear Power [Although, I HAVE heard Obama say he supports both of these, he also has bopped on this issue]

Yes Obama supports alternative fuels like I do, with government funding, thats awesome, except in the meantime, in his 150 billion over 10 year plan, what the fuck do we do hn? Nothing, our oil gets more and more expensive Also he said something about improving energy efficiency 50 percent by 2030, I'm sorry? You'll still be in office then? No you wont, you'll probubly be retired, Stop talking out your ass

On this issue I'm firmly supporting the idea that both Candidates are right, and the real answer is we have to drill for domestic oil -now- and Nuclear Power would provide a highly safe clean form of alternative electricity production, Because Wind and Solar are pipe dreams

On security and military spending..they both say basically the same thing...Seriously, just differently..

Immigration I could honestly not give a toss about except for two major things:

1. Immigrants can come here, yes, But they need to learn English, Basic American History and our basic Civics, Just like my great grandfather had to, just like -everyones- forefathers who came to this country HAD to

2. The illegal immigrants already here shouldn't just be kicked out, but they should be offered a legal way to come foreward, confess, pay a minor fine, and then get into a nationalized citizen program [Wherein they receive education]

Technically, that bridges both McCain and Obama, I think attempting to secure the borders is impossible and a HUGE waste of taxpayer money...but I also feel that we need to discourage people from getting into the country illegally...the good way to do this would be to help Mexico out..but that brings me to the next truth

Downloaded Fallout 2? Well they might pressure Bethesda to come after you, even though Interplay is now defunct, Bethesda owns the rights to the Fallout franchise, Bethesda themselves doesn't give a shit to be honest, but they would be forced to go after you because of Copyright Infringement Fuhrer

Youtube, lets say you make an AMV or a musical tribute video, you got the rights for the anime right? No? the music? Right, you're going to jail

Machanima [ie Red vs Blue] creators could get the stick too if they touch music from a video game...

I'd imagine the RIAA might come after someone who say, adds a song to the PC version of Guitar Hero or something as well

Or what if an artist draws a picture and sticks some lyrics from a song on it?

Basically, this is just one big mess waiting to happen, and it allows the RIAA to worm its way into and control things it couldnt before by pressuring this cabinet member to enforce this bill which basically gives the government the ability to come after you instead of just the copyright holders...

A lot of it is worrying to the Video Game industry, who as a whole has kept a non-draconian view of piracy compared to the RIAA "ZEIG HEIL YOU PAY WHEN YOU LISTEN AND YOU LISTEN HOW WE SAY YOU MAY!" and the MPAA "No you may not record your TV shows! VCRs are only for pirates!" because now they could be forced by the RIAA to go after people they really dont care about...

Now granted, I think the first time someone fights this, its going to get its ass repealed, crushed, or revised, and theres still parts of the bill that may not actually get enforced or will get heavily limited

But theres serious worries revolving around enforcing anything in this...warrants and etc...and what will be needed to obtain them...also theres loose wording along the lines of them being able to seize every computer in a building because one person is a pirate...

It sounds like a royal load of Constitutional Infringement waiting to happen

And in the end this just hurts consumers more to be honest and fair, attacking the people who download is not really the way to fight piracy, attacking the distributors is, and even that is pretty much fruitless given they are mostly in countries that dont give a toss

All of this war on piracy junk is like the war on drugs, largely a huge waste of money and time

What can you do? Well sadly this slipped under my radar, or else I would have written a long LONG letter to Hillary and Schumer about this shit

Instead of sticking this in just one deviation, I decided to make it a journal. From now on that's probably how any notes applying to a big mass of pictures will go because sometimes the picture with the notes gets skipped over XD

Anyways, my family and I decided to go to the Fatima shrine in search of a subject for a project for my photography course, in short, I didnt get an image for part of the project I wanted, but I did get another for another part of the project [I'm having some serious trouble with that one part of the project, I have 2/3 pictures I need right now..]

In the end it was alright really, the shrine itself really wasnt all that..impressive to me..a lot of the stuff was pretty old and run down and in need of renovation badly...

The weather, well I thought overcast would be nice for photography, but it really wasnt, it had no...anything to add to the pictures, and instead of doing one thing i hoped [Reduce flare on my lens] it actually seemed to exacerbate the issue...

Which brings me to the next part, I'm not that happy with my 17-55 f/2.8 IS, I hadn't used it much until now, and now that I do I've found its "issues" and the largest of those is just how flare prone it is, the answer is VERY...

Basically, if theres sun or bright light, and its anywhere near the front of the lens, or moreso, off to the sides, BAM flare, loss of contrast and detail, and big problems :/ [the flare seems to be pretty fine with like say..lights at night in the frame, just daylight and sunlight that cause issue]

The last lens I had that was this poor with flare control was my Sigma 15-30mm on my EOS-3, but that was a 15mm-30mm full frame lens, a superwide zoom with a big protruding element on the front and not any great way to shield it from the sunlight..

Indoors, or when theres not much light in the frame, shes fantastic really, she does a great job..but it seems like a lot of the time I'm shooting this particular lens, i'm outside, and theres sunlight...

It also has a lot of very very noticable chromatic aberration in some shots...

I just dont get the keepers from this lens like I do from my 200mm f/2.8L or my good old 24-105 f/4L IS, I miss my 24-105 f/4L IS quite a lot now, even if the focal range stunk on my DSLR

But that brings me to the next complaint, I just dont feel its wide enough alot of the time...

When I shot film, 24mm was my sweet spot it seemed, thats why I bought the 24-105 f/4L IS...the problem is, my 17-55 on my EOS 30D is equivalent to a 28...and in fact, on Canon right now, there is not a single 24-1xx equivalent zoom! or even a 24-70 equivalent!

Nikon has one, Olympus has one, Sony has one

Canon, does not

Not even a Sigma, nor a Tamron, nor a Tokina will give you a 24mm equivalent zoom on Canon

Sure, you can get it by buying the Canon 10-22, Sigma 10-20 or Tokina 12-24/11-16mm lenses, but then thats TWO lenses for what I'd rather have one for! and I give up on my IS because they cant put an optical image stabilization system in one of those lenses [or if they can, its really hard]

This fact is currently infuriating me to no end...

So much that I've considered betraying the Canon faith to either Nikon or Sony!

Oh theres other things too, like being gouged to buy lens hoods at $50 a bloody pop when everyone else tosses them in for free, the fact that if i ever got a 5D or another full frame canon body that my EF-S lenses are completely worthless..and a lot of the lenses i want also happen to be white..not black...oh and the xxDs seem to be stuck with 9-point AF thats a bit..meh..especially compared to their competetors with 11 or 51 points...

More likely if I do, it would be to Sony, I love Image Stabilization to -death- on more than one shot my 24-105 and the 17-55 have proven its worth to me! And the advantage with Sony is that they have it on -every- and -any- lens you put on the camera...its Body- integral, not Lens-integral, which makes sense in some ways [IS is largely electronic, electronics get updated very very often compared to optics, and as a photographer your investment is in your glass, not your camera body, so the truth is, when they update the IS system, you get that updated IS system on every lens you own just by buying a new body] Also, I really like the Carl Zeiss 16-80 you can get for it...and the 70-300 G [a professional class 70-300] and theres that awesome 500 f/8 Reflex lens that autofocuses [only Reflex lens I know of with AF] and their top end flash unit is hinged in a way to save you from buying a stroboframe for vertical shooting, their handgrip is cool as well, and the a700 has excellent controls!

Sometimes this strikes me as the large disadvantage to there being only ONE group who fansubs Naruto Shippuuden and Bleach :/ They are -way- too arrogant sometimes, and yes i know be thankful because they do it for free, but they also treat their loyal supporters like shit sometimes [I try to be understanding, but when they troll and antagonize their less mature fans it tends to make me quite upsets..]

Who the hell wants meth legalized? It has no good aspects (Like say Marijuana, which is entirely different) Is dangerous to produce and very bad for you..so I'd probubly oppose this..Then again, I'm very against the government legislating anything you do in the privacy of your own home

Oooh boy...this one i actually tread in the middle on, I believe its wrong to take a life, but at the same time respect the woman's right to do so, I also sometimes sadly think its a better option than adoption (which is usually not pleasant for the children involved) or dealing with raising a kid you didnt want and were not prepared for....and in some instances, ie rape, never even wished to engage in the act that created the child, so I suppose im more pro-choice

Anyways, I've switched my computing to Amaterasu, my PC and sold Hirameki off, its weird using Windows again, and things are not all perfect yet (For one, my itunes is fairly fucked since I tried to update it, I got iTunes itself working again but I can't sync my iPhone to it anymore, so no I sadly do not have the new iphone software )

iTunes on the PC is much worse than it is on the mac, and please note I'm far from computer illiterate so i've tried the "obvious" and some things that are much less "obvious" to get this thing working again :/ (Heres a hint, i spent an hour and a half and played "root around the registry" pulling every piece of apple software off this computer manually because the uninstaller also will not function correctly...)

Basically at this point its feeling im going to have to reformat to restore itunes functionality...not something im in the mood to do as of now...

Meh, beyond that, trying to get some form of backup to work the way i wish it to is seemingly impossible (the Windows backup utility sadly sucks, i have to delete the old backup and start from scratch every time because it wont just update the old backup information, instead it tries to create a -new- backup file...also i dont trust it, i dont trust it at all....it wont let me select individual folders, but instead just general types of file ie "Movies" "Pictures" "documents", which scares me it might miss some things)

All i want is a program that sits there and tracks changes to folders i specify and backs up the entire contents of the folder weekly, if i delete something in the folder, it deletes it from the backup, etc etc etc I do not care about anything but my essential files which I keep in specific folders, if anyone knows a good program for this, please note me or comment

I'll be posting a few pics and stuff XD Sadly I didnt get to go out and do that much cause my friend ended up sick and gave it to me and stuff..so we basicly sat around and watched DVDs xD oh well it was still awesome ^_^
