My yard and gardens (and house in general) are slowly perking up with the love, elbow grease, and more love I'm putting into 'em! My yard needs a good bit of work but hopefully I'll have it back into semi decent shape soon. I've discovered I rather enjoy gardening, and hope to take up that most noble, most gentle of past times: guerilla gardening. There's a lot of area running around here looking absolutely horrendous...so I'mma do something about it!

Finally starting to feel more artistic and have been working on...well, nothing so far, but I'm getting there! It's a slow ramping up process for me.

It's almost 5 am here and I haven't slept, but I'm going to get a quick nap in and then brew coffee to stay awake all day today. If I can; I plan to do this all the time and it never really happens. Ah well. Today it shall!

School will start in May again, and hopefully I'll do better this time than last. Ha ha. I've got a couple of new arts up and I'm working on a super-secret project for the fams (who may or may not be paying attention on here, so if I see that they're completely oblivious...I may post 'em!) as well as trying to get some older stuff up and finished.

Medication's wonderful, btw, and I'm lovin' life. I even (finally) got a car yesterday-an old, beat-up 1992 Grand Am with 161,000 miles on it and water on the front floors because there was a leak in the windshield and the re-re didn't even throw a tarp over it. *sighs* Ah well. For $850 it's enough!

We went to a nice restaurant/microbrewery called The Mashhouse and I had a couple of beers and some salmon. Overall it was excellent. I also got a 'fruit boquet' with chocolate-covered strawberries, some nice tea mugs, a couple of gift certificates, and the ability to buy my own alcohol and firearms.

Now that my birthday's gone and went, I think it's about time I made a few resolutions and see if I can go through with them.

1.) I will get up early every morning and drive my husband to work. To reward myself I will then take the dogs over to the dog park and laugh myself silly watching them play.

2.) I will set certain chores to be done on certain days of the week, and make sure they get done.

3.) I will potty train that stubborn-ass husky pup. I will I will I will!!!!!






EDIT: Potty training had to be delayed-Sokka was a little sick the last couple of days. Poop was everywhere. Oh, God, the poop.... *whimpers*

Additionally, I may be getting a job soon! I talked a good bit to the people at the jewelry shop that has this ring I'm in love with. Two thin strips of round diamonds and a larger strip of natural sapphires between.... *love-sodden sigh* It's gorgeous. I'd give away all my shoes and books for that thing.

Last but not least, I'm going to try caffeine. As in, drinking coffee in the mornings to stay awake. But first I'm going to save up my birthday money and a little bit of my allowance next month to get that Keurig model that does the single cups. My mother got one almost a year ago and and it's amazing. Does cocoa, tea, coffee, and not just the little cups you buy for it but you can buy something called a k-cup to put any coffee you want in it. :3

So, in short, things are getting there. Sokka's feeling better today and has to go back in for shots tomorrow. Soon I shall have a house broken puppy, maybe a job, even more maybe-er a ring, and I saw an adorable kitty today at the shelter.

Oh yeah, also there's a job open at the shelter. It'd suck to have to help put animals to sleep but at the same time, itd be a way to help them. Y'know?

Project Appreciation is still on, but shall progress rather fitfully I'm afraid. School starts in two weeks, and my husband goes back to work in one week. I've got a one week window in there I plan to use for recovery from vacation (GUH). After school starts, expect doodles and such; I always draw more when I'm bored. X3

I got a new puppy!!! We now have as part of our family a gorgeous male white husky, with red facial markings and a red stripe down his back. So I'm going to try writing a series based off of the kingdom animalia. I'm also working on a few fiction children's books that have been bugging me in the back of my head for a while now. Little stories from dreams, stuff like that.

But I really want to do the Kingdom Animalia series. Really really really. If I could get some good sources...and find a good photographer to work with...man. *purrs* It'd be freakin' awesome.

I have decided to start a project.

It's going to take a while.

Everyone's going to need to be patient with me.

But here it is! Project: Appreciation is going to be an enormous undertaking. I am going to draw a sketch of everyone on my watcher's list.

Every. Single. One of 'em.

Which isn't that terribly much, you understand, because I don't have THAT terribly many watchers, but I wanted to show my appreciation-hence the name!- for all of my watchers' support and constructive criticism.

Project Appreciation goes even further though! After I've finished that-and I'm taking a screen captcha to keep track of who's on my watch list AT THIS INSTANT-I'm going to draw a picture for each of the people I'm watching, to show that I appreciate their art.


I want this to go even further though. I won't put everyone to the lengths that I"m going-some people have too many watchers/watchees for that-but I'm going to say that everyone who gets a sketch from may want to do five sketches for their watchers and five sketches for their watchees. Again, this isn't a command, I'm not telling you that you HAVE to do this-but I'd appreciate it in return if we could go ahead and spread this goodwill. Y'know?

And in a double dose of awesomeness, I'm going to go ahead and go exactly by my lists. That means, if you're both watching me and being watched by me, you're going to get two sketches instead of one!

I will not be including clubs or groups and projects in this list. In addition, I am going to strive to draw original characters for everyone, and as little actual 'fanart' as possible. I want this to be total appreciation for the person themselves!

I went out to a Red Robin (a really great burger joint for those of you who are't lucky enough to have one around) to get a burger and celebrate the fact that the VA has finally assigned me disability pay, and started talking to the assistant manager there. So she was cleaning up behind the bar, and I asked about how one becomes a bartender, anyway-I mean, seriously, does anyone really know? She replied that Red Robin doesn't hire bartenders, they promote and train them from within the company. Then came the magic words: "Why, are you looking for work?"

Long story short, I went in the next day, and BAM! I had a job! The assistant manager and the lady that interviewed me (another assistant manager) both gave me really great reviews to the general manager. I was so happy. I'm going back to work, I'm going back to work again! *laughs, runs around hooting*

In other news, I finally found a new pair of running shoes, and am ready to go running/working out again. Woooot!


Well, that's all for good news for now-I'm off to get some workout clothes and cruise the PX with my stepmom.

As you can see, Sam and Liam have a healthy respect for each other and, like many siblings, choose to express their affection mostly through teasing, headlocks, and noogies. In that respect they're as normal as anyone else. Liam's IASM doesn't help-he really is part wolf, hence the hair!

Vince has come home, and gone back to Iraq. Well, technically, he's...right at this moment on a flight back into Iraq. So yeah, he's probably in Iraqi airspace by now. *ponders*

I'm lonely again, and so is he. *shivers* I don't like it. It hurts. But what can be done? Nothing. And so we'll both get along alright until he can come home again, which he's hoping will be in June.

Mind you, now that he's said that to me, if he ISN'T home in June every day after that will hurt like the dickens. Damn hope. All hopeful and stuff. >:C

On the plus side...I finished Okami tonight! I got some of the karmic transformers, a stray bead, some night artwork and was proud of myself.

Also on the plus side, Pom has finally started selling their white peach hibiscus tea in large containers. That cost less than the smaller ones did. I am pleased.


Well, that's about it. I don't know when/if I'll be posting more artwork; the antidepressant medication I'm on seems to be really sapping my creative side. It is, however, making other things easier-focusing on eating right seems to be easier, as well as keeping my apartment clean. It's nice. Very nice.

...actually, two.

Call it my weakness, but y'all all know by now that I love animals! Especially canines, but felines can be sweet things too. Especially the more personable breeds, like the Abyssinian and the Siamese.

So I was perusing petfinder.com (beautiful place, y'all, if you're ever looking to adopt a dog or cat or ANY kind of animal!) and found a nice Aby that was in-state. I called the number provided and left a message.

Just a little while ago I got a call back from a very nice lady that was apparently NOT the rescue group-she was the owner! She placed the ad herself, an odd thing. Her newlywed husband has allergies to cats, and they've tried everything from shots to claritin; nothing's worked. So she has been trying to get a good home for them.

Note that I say 'them': she's got both an Abyssinian and a Siamese that have been together since they were kittens, some seven years ago. My expression upon learning that must've ben priceless. X3 Because, honestly, how could you break them up like that?

So I'll be talking to Vince about it when he gets home on Monday (!!!!) and see what he thinks, but this lady is offering to give us all the necessary stuff to take care of them and everything: cat tower, litter boxes, bowls, the whole nine yards. All of that for no adoption fee-just the price of a drive to Jaspar (about three hours away).

I'm not too sure, but it sounds like a deal to me. I want to make sure Vince will be OK with it, because hey, he'll have to live with 'em too when he gets home, but he grew up with cats. Hopefully he'll say it's alright!!! *crosses fingers and hopes*

I mean, a pure bred Abyssinian alone can be $300-1000, and that's without shipping, equipment, anything. A Siamese can be, who knows, probably the same if not more. If nothing else it'd save us more money to get them both than to buy one ourselves.

Oh, I hope, I hope! AND they're used to large dogs? And moving? God. They sound perfect.



Vince is coming home Monday!!!! And that's even more exciting than getting a new cat or dog! I haven't seen him in seven months. God, it seems like forever. I need my husband, by God! I've been mostly miserable without him. Just finally got the hang of not having him around-not that I like it, mind you, I just found a way to live with it. *wiggles happily*

I'm so happy! The only thing better will be when he comes home for good!



Also, I'll probably not be anywhere near deviantart while he's home. Unless he needs to use the comp. Or needs some breathing space. Aw, hell, I'll be on, just not that much. X3

...sounds pretty cool to me. I might have to make a character that's freegan. They also seem to be very into the whole barter system, which, honestly, I do adore. I mean, it's a bit more difficult, but it's a lot more...honest, somehow. Services for services and all that. It's difficult to really branch out in that kind of economy though; unless you can make yourself useful in a self-sustaining way, you'd be out of work soon. For example, making mirrors would not last too long unless you hooked up with a merchant of some sort or traveled yourself; once people have enough mirrors, they have enough mirrors, y'know?

Meh. Just an interesting thought. (God I'm a hippie sometimes.) I'd look into it more if I wasn't farly certain Vince would kill me. Or himself. The man likes his stuff.

EDIT: Maddie went home today! She's been adopted by a very lovely Army family-the husband's a chaplian, a captain. The wife stays home with their two little kidlings-and I've got to admit, I loved her little girl! She's maybe three and came up at the adoptions and tried to climb in the cages with the dogs. Then she had to touch a lot of different dogs. Then she came up and proudly proclaimed, "NOSE" and touched my nose with her pointer finger.

I'm in love. Most of all, they're going to love Maddie, and I couldn't be happier for her! It's just what she needed.

I really would like to have a kid now though. Well, not NOW, but soon. Once I'm done with school and have a decent job together. So, in about...eight years. XD *shot* Maybe before then. But I am dead determined to finish school and get to work-I love working. Love it.

The biggest part isn't really in finding the apartment, I think. Mind you, I'm going to have slightly more stringent standards than last time, since Vince and I will be there for about a year (much longer than last time!). I'd like a nice area to walk around in (something this place lacks-there are large, very busy streets on two thirds of the surrounding areas of the complex here), lots of windows (one thing this apartment DOES have), an upper level apartment (now that I can handle stairs I'd like something up higher so I can sit out on the porch without having to acknowledge everyone walking by XD)...the apartment I'm at now is very conveniently located, mind you. It's not even ten minutes from the gym, Target, Starbucks, large amounts of shopping areas...is good. Is vury good.

We'd considered on-post housing but really, if you can help it, who wants that? XD

I've started trying to eat better too, these days. I found this really good citrus fruit called a 'clementine' that is absolutely AMAZING. I loves them. I loves them so. Unfortunately, you can only buy them by the crate, and only during certain times of the year. Whaaaaaaaatever. I like 'em and I'm going to eat 'em while I can!

Vince is coming home around the 20th! I can't wait! I got him a few more small Christmas gifts...nothing too big but I hope he'll like them.

The dogs are getting along well-Maddie still is an attention hog (she definitely needs to be in a one-dog family!) and Callie still gets to go more places with me because she's better trained (and smaller). (And not a pit bull-people are scared of pit bulls, sadly enough, and she isn't well enough trained for me to try and correct their opinions. )

So yeah! That's what's up with me. How about with you guys? Anything new to report? School plans for the new year, New Year's resolutions, holiday tales of laughter and sorrow but mostly laughter?

I gots me some rollerblades too, and a doggie backpack for Maddie and whatever other foster dogs come through. :3 I'm going to wear those two OUT! Just you wait and see. Dogs are easier to train when they're pleasantly exhausted. And I suspect Maddie will be more tractable if she's had a chance to vent some of that considerable force she has.

And the decision of the day is: I'm going to foster a dog with a local shelter!

The apartment complex owners are gay and have breed restrictions that specifically ban German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes as well as other breeds like Rotties, pit bulls, dobes, etc. It's absolutely retarded and I for one am going to start looking into anti-breed specific legislation stuffs.

So, to cover my canine needs, I'm going to foster dogs with a shelter here in Augusta. They desperately need foster families, they said, and I figure, well, why not? I'll be helping with their adoptions too, etc.

It'll be fun. And it'll be something to help the shelter. Plus, they pay for food, medical, everything for the dog. Sounds like a deal to me!

Yeah...I'm still disappointed about Miller though. I really wanted to have my little German Shepherd mix puppy...

Was thumbing through some art here on the ol' devART a while ago and came across a rather interesting thing. Some sort of project for a female that needs some brain surgery and was unfortunate enough to have disregarded health insurance as a practicality earlier in her life or was unable to procure such for herself.

She needs 2-4 brain surgeries, and it's gonna cost a pretty penny. So what she's done is signed up with a site I've never heard of and started "Projecy Download."

The upshot of this project is this: if/when she achieves five million downloads, the company will pay her $10,000. The download is a small .txt document with a short message from her (her name's Erin, oddly enough) and is spy-ware and virus free. She's at just over 150,000 downloads now, but that's a drop in the bucket compared to what she needs.

So, basically, here's the challenge: you can download this document once per day per IP address. Only once per day per IP address does the click count towards her total download count. Help a gal out, hm? I'm going to be trying to remember to do this everyday for her.

No, I don't know her. Don't have to. Someone needs help, I'm going to help, y'know? Especially with something so harmless as this.

In fact, it feels like this is something I can help with. Something I can do something about, perhaps. I'm still pondering exactly what I could do to help this gal out, but the list is admittedly small for someone like me. Just wish I had some idea what to help with. I mean, I was watching that "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" show last week, and didn't CVS pick up the tab for all those kid's hospital bills? Mind you, they got some publicity out of it, but still...how could I set this up?

So I sold the tablet for about $115, which is excellent, because I'll be needing it. I'm looking into adopting a German Shepherd named Ginger from a local shelter-beautiful two year old girl that remarkably enough wasn't abused or neglected. Her owners literally just had to move and couldn't keep her. I can't believe how lucky I am to have found her!

I get to go meet her sometime soon, and I'm going to ask the foster parents if I can take her on a hike before I make the final decision; primarily she'll be a companion and companion hiker, so I want to make sure she doesn't have any hang-ups about the outdoors.

(Even if she does, if I can help her with it I will, but by no means am I Cesar Milan. I just work well with dogs. *laughs* I wonder how one goes about becoming a dog trainer...?)

Well, that's about it. If anyone would like to donate to the 'adopt Ginger; fund, please, feel free. Her adoption fee is $250, and I've got $100 from the tablet for that, so if anyone wants to help out even a little bit with the extra $150, I'd really appreciate it.

So it was my birthday yesteday! :cheers:

I am now no longer a teenager! I am twenty! We're talking, TWO DECADES OF LIFE! Seems like a lot in retrospect. (Though not as much as it will one day! XD)

I got a $25 gift card from REI, $50 from my grandmother, an aluminum one-person mess kit, and several cards. And my mom's going to write a check for me. (She owes me money anyway bum.)

The best gift by far however was from my husband. He bought me a day at the spa! I get to go down to Spa Sydell on Saturday and have a 'deluxe day at the spa.' That means massage, manicure, pedicure, lunch, facial...god, I'm getting spoiled. XD God bless my husband. He thought of it all by himself, too! Now that's a smart guy.

So yeah. My internet's getting fixed today too. *chuckles* That means I can surf the interwebs again! *bugle sounding*

On the art frontier...things ain't looking so good. I've been totally uninspired. Of course, I've also been adjusting to my new medication...the doc put me on an antidepressant for several reasons but mostly for my insomnia, which was getting wildly out of hand. I'm doing much better now, but have been rather uninspired. Oh well. I'll just take a hiatus I guess. *chuckles*

I'm planning on going back to school in spring if I can, and Vince may be able to come home early from Iraq-he's thinking June! I'd be really really REALLY happy if that could happen. We're talking freakin' estatic, man. *laughs* Don't expect anything for a while, except maybe some attempts at drawing my main man.

I saw the play "Camelot" last night with my sister and stepmother. It was different-the first musical I've ever seen on stage, and only the second play I've ever seen, period. (The first was "The Nutcracker" XD) It started out well-very funny-but ended up sad. Uncool. But a good play.

In other news, I have another doctor's appointment coming up. I'll hopefully be able to hear the results of the 20 million xrays I took earlier this week. (It was really only 24, but still, that's a lot!!) If those damn xrays don't show anything, I'm going to push for an MRI-there's still something wrong with my back, and I intend to find out what. I'll be damned if I'm going to run around for the rest of my life in pain of various sorts without knowing what the hell's wrong!

But that's sort of getting stubborn. Let's change the subject...

I got yan-yan for :iconanime-arin:. *grin* She's going to love me forever! It's her favorite kind, the kind with the strawberry AND the chocolate creme. Thank you, Asian Grocery!

Also, Vince's birthday is coming up on the 19th! I know that none of y'all know him, but you should send him something!!! Email, ecard, real card, real letter, real gift-whatever! If that suits you just PM me and we'll talk address, etc. I think, for my part, I'm going to set him up a deviantART account, and that way he can get gift art if people want.

Also, he requested a stainless steel coffee mug with our family name etched into it: Abraham. So I got him that, too!

I decided to go to the doc's today for various reasons, mostly because I promised Mom that I would. I drove all the way out to Eisenhower (not too long, maybe twenty minutes, but still) and was wondering to myself, 'Why are there so few people here today?'

I got my answer after discovering the clinic was closed-a pretty female specialist pharm tech pushing a cart of medications was kind enough to inform me that it was Columbus Day.

Columbus Day??? How did I miss THAT one??? It's a federally recognized holiday!

So needless to say, the trip was wasted. Not wasted has been my time today-I've been doing some research for a tattoo my mom wants. She asked for an old-fashioned fruit jar that reads, "Nane Brand Whoop-Ass, since 1980" with a picture of my great-grandmother in the middle. *laughs* It sounds wonderful, but I have to get over to an antiques store to see what she really means by 'antique fruit jar'. I'll be listening to Big Band music while I design it, of course.

She also wants another tattoo-it's the years of pent-up rebelliousness, I swear. She asked me for a big "C" for Cindy, her name. I'm thinking of putting some sort of pretty floral design in the C's curve, like the old storybooks always did with the beginning letter of a story. Either that, or a nice scene with sunflowers and a bright blue sky above in the middle, like a window to a better place. She liked that idea too-I can't begin to say what an honor it is to design something like that for family. To think that they would want something I drew to stay with them for as long as tattoos do...I am definitely honored.

Her alphabets request gave me an idea, and a project to work on for a while: an alphabet, meant to be tattooed, with floral designs or older designs like mentioned above. I'd be happy to do that as a commission for someone too, if you wanted-the letter of your choice, and we'd discuss the inner designings. I'm going to go with my own interpretation of it initally, and maybe will even put the entire thing together when I'm done as one gif.

I got Erin's art meme tag, and completed it. It looks a little sloppy, but I'm very unused to drawing directly into the computer-I've been using my tablet as a tracer tool instead of a drawing pad. Just means I need practice, huh? I can hear Erin now. (It's a good thing Er-bear!) (*lmao, ducks*)

Well, I'm off to finish getting my withdrawal form signed and to take a shower and later, to have dinner with my grandmother. It's been a while since I talked to her, it'll be nice to say hi again.

So I stayed up again all last night, not on purpose. But I feel OK this morning, actually...makes me wonder if I accidentally fell asleep last night and don't remember. *ponders*

The hunt for skin tone Prismacolors is still on...I'm still searching for the elusive 'cream' marker, which I covet. I may try at the school store presently, and then that art store down on Washington...yeah.

So my grandma offered to send me to art school.

I declined. Obviously! I know I don't have the talent to get good use out of art school. It hurts, but it's true. And right now, I don't want to go to any kind of school. Even tattoo apprenticeships I'm starting to hear consist for the first year of hanging out and cleaning the damn parlor...*sigh*

I wonder sometimes if I ever make any choices. *grumblegrumble*

*sigh* I wish I was good enough though...art school sounds like fun, from what Erin's been telling me. Maybe one day when I'm old and decripit I'll do art all day. Or maybe if Vince and I end up having a lot of kids like we want, I'll stay home and illustrate. *warm fuzzies* That'd be nice...I wouldn't mind that a bit!

Well...

OK, I lied. I might have serious problems with staying home all day. I'm not a 'stay at home' kind of woman.

Blargh. Wish I could make up my mind on what I want in my life. Do I want EMS, or art? Do I want a large, boisterous, happy family, or do I want a small, calmer, happy one? (Happy's a must either way ). Two dogs, or four? What?

Actually, my idea is that each kid should get a dog. That's MY opinion. But who listens to me? No one. *laughs*

I'll figure it out. For now, I'm going to check the school store and go get that stupid withdrawal paper signed. *resigned*

So there isn't much going on today. I slept for sixteen hours yesterday, and I'd like to go to sleep now, but Vince is taking his first PT test in Iraq this morning (after only having ONE DAY to prepare) and I want to know how he did!

(For those of you who aren't militarily-inclined, a "PT test" is a test of a person's physical strength and stamina. You do push-ups, sit-ups, and a two mile run that are all scored on a sliding scale that is adjusted for age and gender. Usually, you get between two weeks and a month's time notice before these tests so that people can do that last little brushing up on their skills, so that's why I'm a bit ticked at his sergeant for pulling it out on them like that. This one's just a diagnostic, so it isn't going on record, but it's really stressful [as you may imagine] and takes a bit of mental preperation too.)

Finished up that flower tribal design (FINALLY); it's been sitting around for weeks practically because I got caught up in other stuff. But now it's done and UP! Go me! XD

My dog peed in someone else's house today and chewed a massive hole in one of my shirts. Needless to say, she is crated.

I ordered fun stuff online. :3 With my husband's approval. So I don't feel bad about spending our money!

And finally, I got some new markers. Not a lot, about four. Just trying to find those wonderful skin tones that I so desire-my people don't all have the same complexion, why should I color them that way? Exactly, I shouldn't. All I need now is that 'cream' color and I think I'll be good....

Point 'n laugh, y'all. I managed to sleep through classes...again.

What the fuck's going on with me, anyway?? Gaaaaaaaaah.


Well, screw it. I'm movin' on.

So I'm dropping two of my classes because of this insomnia issue-I literally have found myself unable to wake up in time for them, and because of this I have missed four or five classes within the last week. And while I fully understand that this can't keep happening-and would be more than grateful if someone could help-I haven't been able to fix it yet. I tried a lot of different things, actually...I tried all the old remedies, with warm tea (decaf) before bed, reading, not watching TV, taking a warm bath, etc, etc. Didn't work.

So I moved on to over-the-counter sleep aids. Those didn't put me to sleep as much as they kept me asleep-which I didn't have a problem with in the first place. End result was three classes missed before I figured out that the reason I hadn't woken up for the alarm was because of the meds.

Now, I'm serious. Now it's personal. This weekend proved to me that staying up all night does NOT work very well, especially if you have to drive four hours the next day. Amazingly enough, I survived the Atlanta-Augusta trip with only one minor cardiac arrest.

This evening I was thinking to try it again-I was up at 0600, 6 am, yesterday morning at Erin's house and felt fine (I went to bed at 0200) but tonight I can feel that I really do need to get sleep.

I just can't get myself there. Damn insomnia. I know I'm tired. I know I need rest. It just isn't working.

I'm gonna go see a doc about it this week hopefully-I haven't called yet for an appointment because, well duh, the doc's office is closed when I'm awake! Makes total sense, mm?

Anywho. I'm going to get something to eat and then go to bed. It's 0300-about the time each night at which I can MAKE myself go to bed and usually get some shut-eye in. Nothing fancy, I'll probably just fry up and egg, throw in some toast, and slap a slice of cheese on it all for a little sandwich. I can usually eat that no matter what time it is.

So I've always had this secret question. Y'know, that one thing you always wonder about in the middle of the night, and can't help but think about at times?

Mine is, "what if I was a guy?"

I can tell you one thing. I'd be getting an anatomical diagram of the heart tattooed right over my heart.

So to commemorate that wish-and to pray that SOMEONE does it, because since I can't (the boob gets in the way) I'd love to see someone else get it done-I'm drawing it up!

Mmyes, so I'm sitting here bored out of my gourd in an English class that I really scored far too high on my SAT to be taking.... *sigh*

Just wanted to remind everyone that I am open for tattoo commissions! The running price is $10-15 for a black and white tattoo, $20-25 for color. Anything absolutely HUGE or using a GAZILLION colors will be a little more expensive.

My mom decided to (finally) get a divorce from my abusive stepdad, but it isn't going so well right now. She found about fourteen or fifteen guns in the house (most of which she didn't know about) and ended up bringing my siblings down for the weekend to keep them away from him. He threatened to kill himself, wants joint custody, and is not going to begrudge her the truck. God bless him, he's a moron-he works at REI part time. What's he think he's going to do, pay for that truck and insurance and live on that kind of income? He's a moron.

So I was awake all weekend practically stressing oer that...wondering if my mom had had an affair (she says she didn't)...and wondering if Stace was going to show up down here at my apartment looking for his son with a gun or some shit.

Overall, not a restful weekend. And I've concluded that, yes, my insomnia is definitely boosted by stress, because I couldn't sleep last night until about 0430. I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow though, so hopefully she'll represcribe me the elavil that was letting me sleep previously...

On the plus side, I have massive amounts of homework due tomorrow. As well as the doctor's appointment. And art trades I promised to people (but the school work's second to nothing; I have to get it done). And, and, and.... *sigh*

So the art's probably going to lag for a little while-or, alternatively, I could get more of it done than ever because it's a good stress reliever for me. Who knows? Just don't expect anything either way.

Callie's learning to pack with weight now; I'm using some half-size cans of beans to start her off. XD It's adorable; the cans clank if she jumps or gets up on a curb. Too cute.

Vince is doing well; he was moved to night shift, and has adjusted nicely to that. I think he's doing a lot better there than he was on the lines; that was very stressful for him.

I'm off to find some more sources for my bibliography. Deuces!

I sprained my ankle last night. X3 I was doing a jumping roundhouse kick and managed to land funny on my foot. Go me! Everyone clapped. I got up, stretched it out, went back to work. Got home, sat down, ate dinner, and when I tried to stand back up-WHAM! Right over onto my side. So I iced, ibuprofen'd, and ace-wrapped accordingly. Occasionally, those medic skills DO come into use!

Test coming up Friday. T-T I hate math. But I'm going to not fail, and keep my scholarship, dammit! So it's study time. *sigh*

I've been feeling a bit uninspired lately, so I've taken to doing art trades and such on Gaia. (Gaia, for those of you who don't know, has been taking the place of my former shopping obsession.)(Much financially healthier, btw. X3)

If anyone on here would like to do a trade or such as well, I am more than happy to do that for you! All I ask is that you attempt to draw something nice for me as well. I can wait, if you've got artist's block. But I like getting arts. :3

Well, I suppose that's all. Callie's doin' great-as soon as I can find my damn camera cord, I'll upload a pic of her! The hubby was moved to the aid station at his post, and now helps conduct a burn clinic three days a week (I think, it may be more) for the native Iraqi people. He sees a lot of children go in there for pretty bad burns...if you guys are the spiritual kind, I'd ask that you keep him in your prayers. He's a strong man, but shit like that will break anyone down, over time.

And on a final note, my insomnia seems to be slowly retreating! Yay, sleeping when everyone else is! :cheers:

She combined science fictin and fantasy, religion and children's stories into books that deeply effected me as a child. She wrote of moral purpose, of righteousness, of a God that loves and cares for His children. She wrote of many things-wrinkles, and floods, and unicorns and Big Brother-esque civilizations.

When I heard, something in my chest disappeared and felt black. Over the years and the readings of her books I have almost felt like I knew her, like I came to love her characters as friends of my own.

I know this sounds wicked overemotional. I know it sounds like so many other superfans out there that live and breathe their obsessions. But I had no such obsession with her; I learned more about her, the writer, in her obituaries than I ever did from her books.

But I shall dearly miss the books she produced, their plots, the depth of the characters and the way she wrote. I mourn her departure, but am thankful-she died of natural causes, no painful wasting away, and will be taken up to God's hands. I'll see her again one day.

Please, as a favor to me, if you haven't read her book "A Wrinkle In Time," go to the library and borrow a copy. I can't think of any other appropriate memorial for this wonderful, spiritual woman than for her writings to teach on after she has left.

-I went hiking Saturday, and have massive shin splints for it, but enjoyed myself.

-I found a book called "Ten Million Steps," about a man named Nimblewill Nomad (trail name) and his trek from Florida to Canada. It's awesome, so far!

-Training's going well.
-I need to go see my acupuncturist again.
-I got a couple of art trades going on Gaia (finally!)
-I'm working on a tattoo for and for So far, both of them are looking good!

So I have solved my problem with a Gaia obsession.

I can run around buying all the crap in the world there and never pay a real penny.

I have a pair of Syaoran's goggles on my avi now, very nice (I <3 Syaoran!) and am looking for some ink or bugs to get a big ass dragon tattoo. I'm just cool like that. Online. Because in real life, I can't make up my mind what the hell I want. XD

Actually, I've been working on that lately. I think I may really want a ginormous dragon, with water and fire elements in particular-fire style is what I was taught at my last dojo, and water style is what I like most at the dojo I'm now at. And my a dragon, you ask?

Because they're badass, of course.

I did go get my ears pierced again day before yesterday. It's gauged though, something new to me, so it's taking some getting used to. X3 I'll just work it back down as I can. I don't like gauged jewelry that much.

In other news. I started college this week. And I am thoroughly unimpressed with my math and english professors. Well, actually, the math teacher's turning out to be better than my first impression, but...unfortunately, my English prof is NOT.

I sort of wonder if most English 101 classes insult everyone's intelligence...?

Well, I'm off to eat some corn I got at that vegetable stand and to start thawing my shrimp for fried rice this evening. Also to make some banana bread. And maybe even real bread. <3

I did submit another tattoo design. Y'know I put almost zero thought into those stupid tribal designs and they're the art that everyone likes best. (They're not really stupid, I just don't feel like they're the thing I put the most of my effort into, and it makes me sort of...grumpy, I guess.)

Callie's being stubborn right now; we're having dominance issues again. *sigh* I'm not doing something right; she doesn't always do what I ask her to, and it confuses me as to why. I'll figure it out, I suppose. Or learn to live with it.

I've been thinking seriously about getting another tattoo (really I am, I mean, they're fucking addictive really) and think I've finally found the design I want. It's similar to the fan design that one girl got on Miami Ink, but in addition to the design having been modified I am also changing the kanji. I'm thinking about some other modifications-a definite enlargement to fit my back or my side-and maybe some other stuff. I've got to fiddle with it.

Or find a better one. But oh, God...it takes so much time...and there are so many designs...my problem being that I'm infinitely picky, but I'll know what I want when I see it. So yeah. *chuckles.*

I'd like to begin drawing up some tattoo designs in color, actually. I like the coloring of the tattoos styled after Asian tattoos-the same koi and oni and dragon and lotus and water-but don't like the repitition. I don't like the...I guess I just want to try and draw something up that's a little more unique to me, to my art. Problem is, I've got to figure out how to draw a decent non-tribal tattoo in the first place. *laughs* I'll work on it.

I've got a driving school sort of thing later this morning with a private instructor, based mostly on parallel parking. It's 0900-1000, and oh, am I going to just pass out afterwards. The stupid insomnia's back again-I went to sleep at seven o'clock yesterday morning and woke up at 6 o'clock yesterday evening. Esentially, I've got myself all backwards again. I plan on doing the same as last time-rewinding my clock by going backwards and staying up longer each day-and should be back on a normal schedule again in time for school to start the twentieth. >.<

So yeah. Oh, and Vince is doing alright over in the Sandbox; he's been running fairly easy missions, but they've been so constant that he's starting to feel the stress. Thanks to DarknesstheReaper for drawing him a picture of him in his anthro form, playing football (as he does so like to do)! If anyone else is looking for a project, I'd be eternally grateful to you if you gave a shot at drawing him something too!

But I cannot, right now. (Rather, I've gotten so agitated with it now that I WILL not.)

Or, if anyone has a good couple of tips on shading, I'd really appreciate that too.

I finished (sort of) the piece with Samantha, the dragon. She isn't always a dragon, actually...in fact, she's usually a rather quiet woman. Not mousy, mind you. Maybe 'quiet' isn't the word...

Anywho, got her done in photoshop. Backgrounds pwned me all evening, so I fianlly gave her a plain brown background and left it at that. -.-; Yeah, I know, I know...

I'm thinking I may color and finish her up on paper, too, make a few adjustments. I'm still working on how I want that particular form to come out, so it'll be a tad different, but I'm the artist, dammit-I do what I want!

I've been a bit down lately-I finally passed 1k pageviews, after having been here for...almost two years now? Which is fine. But I tend to feel a bit like...I don't know, like no one thinks I'm any good at art. *slightly depressed*

Of course, I've got a million other things to do right now, with school, and living, and Callie. But it's nice to have a little recognition every once in a while, y'know?

I found the cutest thing the other day...I think it was on the front page for a while, actually, but it fits. It's a SAIX-PUPPY STAMP! XD I love those comics those two make. As soon as I figure out how to put stamps on my page, I intend to stick it on.

Off to find food, possibly work out, and then maybe play Pokemon or color. *DORK*

My doctor put me on this new medication and even though I don't know STILL if there's actually something wrong...but my pain is GONE. I actually walked around the last couple of days without my cane!!! Without pain!

It was absolutely amazing, and breathtaking. I had forgotten how wonderful it was to simply walk...it had rained this evening and the air was cool and damp and I was WALKING. After all my prayers and the prayers of family and friends...it was beautiful.

So Thank You, God, for my healing! And may it continue so that the doctors can find out the original cause of the problem and fix it, too.


In art news...I'm working on coloring a picture of Sam (short for Samantha), another character from my comic. She's got a dragon ASM (Armed Service Modification) and currently resides in Russia.

Photoshop and my tablet are a real bitch to figure out, I've decided...Photoshop moreso than the tablet really. I've finally got layers pretty much down-sort of, I'm still figuring out where to put the background-but it's a lot of fun to play around with. The tablet's fun too, but usually when I sketch I can turn the piece of paper around and play with it...can't do that with the tablet... *mourns*

I managed to get my schedule nice and spaced out, with plenty of time between classes to go let Callie out and grab some lunch. Means I don't have to buy a stupid meal plan or anything.

I finally finished up that new art, of Vince. :3 I like how it turned out...the part that I colored by hand. As for the rest of it... I need practice with Photoshop. DX

Well, onwards! I've got to finalize some character designs for a few people in that comic I'd like to see get done. There's a few...ahem. Well, I can't spoil the surprise, can I? I'll put some art up sooner or later on them. And I imagine it'll be my stress relief during school, so expect art on the weekends. X3

Please continue to pray and hold my husband in your thoughts; he's having a rough time over there, and I worry for him. I appreciate all your support so far.
