Daily deviations, aka 'staff picks', are often flooded with comments like "wtf this shouldn't be a dd"

Geniuses of the world, they are the staff's choices and not yours. You are not expected to love all of them--hell, I'm not always impressed either--but it is not up to you to decide which STAFF PICKS are PICKED.

Today was (what felt like) the millionth time I've seen a stock photo bombarded with stupidity, and there are many reasons why this is especially idiotic.

---As with any other DD, simply saying "this doesn't deserve a dd" will do nothing to help the artist or yourself. Direct your complaints to the staff member who featured the deviation, not the person who's work was featured. If you do not like a certain DD, which you have every right to, comment to the artist what it is that they should change or watch out for next time. How would your reaction be different if it was never a DD and you just found it by chance? That's how your responses should be.

---**!!! When a stock photo is featured, you need to realise what it is: STOCK. It is a picture made available for us to manipulate into whatever we want. It is there for us to warp, cut, reference, do whatever. It is NOT a finished product, but a resource for us to use. By featuring it, a staff member is hoping that some of us will find in this person's gallery (or this specific photo) something we could use in our own art. So no, it may not be as pretty as all of the other Daily Deviations of the day, but it was never meant to because it isn't whole yet. Comment on how useful it is, not if you would feature it yourself.

Ok real news. I GOT A NEW CAMERA ^_____^!

old one: Kodak Easyshare CX4230
new one: Canon Powershot SD400

There's a world of a difference between them, and I'm not talking about the Kodak/Canon part. The first one was the cheapest digital camera with zoom that we could find in 2003, the second is a brand new fancy-pants 2005 camera. Oh, its so nice! *_______* How did I convince my dad who is deathly afraid of spending lots of money? Grades >>;

I'll be able to post some of my non-scannable art projects now that I have a way to get the images onto the computer. My last camera wouldn't take good pics of paintings (refer to my butterfly painting deviation...that was the best I could do).

So yea, I've been alive all of these months. Anyway, I'm really busy between making necklaces as birthday gifts, and working on a drawing that I started (after remembering how pissed off I was about a similar project done during school). Nothing.

I have so much work to do, its not even funny. I have a billion writting assignments, books to read, math problems to do, and an art project that wants me to die. It really does. The project is to paint on glass, but the goddamn paint decides to come off the stupid piece-of-shit-glass every time I touch it with water or more paint for a second layer. And not only that, but it is nearly impossible to avoid getting paint on the outline shit, so it looks horrible. From far away it looks pretty, but upclose its like puke. That makes the second bad art project in a row. I'm in an artistic slump. Or maybe I just need the school year to be over already.

I didn't even finish the simple little artsy thing I started at home. I'm still making the freakin' outlines.

....which brings me to the next set of things I didn't do. Anything at home.

I didn't clean my room, or the basement, or go through all of those mp3s I downloaded, or work on the necklace I started a million weeks ago, or do ANYTHING THAT I WANTED TO ACCOMPLISH. Its funny how I have all of these things I want to do, but when I finally have the time to do it, nothing happens.

I am so inefficient.

Well, maybe in the next 7 days- no wait thats pushing it, lets try 14...... maybe in the next two weeks I will have something non-photography to upload to DevArt. It seems like thats all I do, photos. But think about it, it takes a few seconds to press a button and have a completed photo, compared to the time it takes to make it all yourself.

Today I went though some DA galleries with stuff that made me want to light every piece of work I've done on fire, and roll around in the ashes. Woooooooo my self esteem is WAY up! Hah . That was sarcastic o_O;

I'm currently trying something new. I temporarily gave up on anime since my stuff is demented, and I'm attempting to do an all computer-drawn picture (as opposed to my usual pencil-lined and photoshop-colored crap). Its got butterflies in it, but since I already have 4 butterfly photos and a butterfly painting on the way (gotta take a photo of it x_X), I'm gonna do my best to avoid butterflies and try something different afterwards. I've recently discovered that my hands really don't like to do the same things over and over.
