(1) Someone suggested to Jade (?) that sxc.hu changed management. It did NOT. Have no clue why and how this has come up. I hope the DA stock providers that I have come across so far can tell that I am really not trying to be sneaky or disrespectful; I am aware that (1) what they do is undoubtedly a form of art, is equal to any other genre, and (2) it is not very easy to create a stock photo with outstanding quality. There are deviations, among them really excellent ones too, that somehow 'show up' again and again. I mean, first they were submitted, say 6 months ago, I added them then to my folders (as I liked them), and lo and behold basket-of-gold, after some months I am getting them again in my box as 'new deviations'. I have a very good visual memory so I know at once that 'I have already seen this'... and sure enough, checking out either the original submission date or my favs, there it is...

Thanks to the judges and thanks to :iconthefantasim: to be such a generous partner! It was so much fun to create a manip in the midst of my crazy, time-lacking period! Although I don't seem to have time to take part in challenges nowadays I found this collaboration (in which the ever-patient organizers paired up an experienced photomanipulator with a less experienced one) very inspiring. The bad news is, they need an invoice from Dell (where I got the tablet) so that they can see the time of the purchase, etc. Now, Dell is absolutely impossible to reach. I did not have any luck with email, phone, etc. My only hope is their financial services (through which we buy any computer stuff), but for some reasons they don't let us in our own account, godknowswhy. People here (mainly group admins) are making a huge, huge fuss about crediting - absolutely rightfully, let me add this very quickly. Other than it is ethical (and nice) to credit stock providers in DA it has always been much fun for me to go to the original stocks and have a look at the "before" state. I am not sure how many of you are familiar with a normal set up of a (life) drawing class in a college (or other educational) environment. Everyone has their easel and they are working individually of course. The instructor either demonstrates a detail/important point in front of the group or walks around and often takes over the charcoal/pencil/pastel from the drawer to correct bits of pieces. Way back in these classes (god, that was a long time ago!) Well, it almost did not happen.

Not because this novel is worse – as a matter of fact, just the opposite. Although it was written much earlier then If Beale Street Could Talk, Giovanni's Room is more completed, more absolute – artistically speaking. Its world is as dark as the world of Beale Street but in a different way. It is a love story as well but even more beautiful. Race is not mentioned here and its subject is not a "blacks vs. whites" conflict but rather the nature of love. The contest is to design a cd cover (plus the works) for a band. (You can read about the challenge here, if you are interested. The deadline is May 31st but maybe you have something already in your creativity kitchen that can be finished by then.)
