It is an excellent computer (a huge-capacity Dell), and it would not have had any problem if I had treated it right :) I know exactly why it threw in the towel: it was sitting for 2 years on the floor under my desk and got extremely dusty; I did not clean it regularly and the accumulated dust and the (dusted) heat just damaged its hard drive. I have some great starters on several new digital works (manipulations) but at one point I get stuck with all of them. So I am putting all to the rest for a while and probably doing other kinds of stuff (more like graphic desgign-y thingies, which I love!). However, there are some exceptions, thank god. NPR is one of them - this radio channel reminds me of the heights of the Hungarian radio days.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ ...that I have been having for ever.<br /><br />I am not sure how many of you are familiar with a normal set up of a (life) drawing class in a college (or other educational) environment. Everyone has their easel and they are working individually of course. The instructor either demonstrates a detail/important point in front of the group or walks around and often takes over the charcoal/pencil/pastel from the drawer to correct bits of pieces. Way back in these classes (god, that was a long time ago!) I was always so shocked to see that only a few lines or shades were needed to be replaced or created or corrected and voila! - my drawing worked perfectly! ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Last week I wrote about a James Baldwin novel and promised I would go on with another one, a more famous one, Giovanni's Room.<br /><br />Well, it almost did not happen.<br /><br />Not because this novel is worse &#150; as a matter of fact, just the opposite. Although it was written much earlier then If Beale Street Could Talk, Giovanni's Room is more completed, more absolute &#150; artistically speaking. Its world is as dark as the world of Beale Street but in a different way. It is a love story as well but even more beautiful. Race is not mentioned here and its subject is not a "blacks vs. whites" conflict but rather the nature of love. And as such, Giovanni's ]]></media:text>
