I was on the bus today and a blonde haired woman sat in front of me. It was very pretty, with darker shades underneath and silvery-gold shimmering shades on top.

I kind of started getting lost in it, and it made me think of my natural hair colour, and how many people got lost in it, drawn to it like a moth to flame.

I'm not sure if I miss it, I feel safe under my brunette shadow now.

I wonder how hard it'd be to reverse it.

There are obvious reasons, such as my work and study load at the moment. I also have projects and commitments, such as music* and political groups. I also don't have as much artwork to submit (although I do have photos, I'm apprehensive about posting photos of other people to websites they don't use).

Also, I do have a few personal beefs with DA:

Too commercialised. By that I mean it is made so blatantly obvious and they have no shame in it. DA is full of just as much marketing as it is 'art'.

Just as demanding as a social networking site, except none of my friends use it

The mature content policies are too restrictive

Because my gallery contains 'mature content', if i want to show any friends they either have to sign up, or can't see all of my gallery. Therefore, I have to post it on other websites anyway

Too many douchebags submitting douchebaggery to the galleries.

Too many good artists that slip through the cracks, and nothing controversial or thought provoking really gets any attention (see above)

Crappy gallery directors

Nobody ever writes interesting journals (it's usually just updates or some features)

*For as long as DA doesn't cater for musicians then there's a lot of creative projects that don't get to be put on display here.

No, I don't plan on leaving DA forever, I just won't be as active here anymore. Mostly I'll be posting stuff to my blog. If I do make something I think is good I'll post it here. I will also look at and fave some art.

A big FUCK YOU to all the people out there who have ripped my artwork (and any other artists' artworks), posted it in their blogs that profit from ad revenue, and hosted them on sites that sell prints. Every bit of money you receive from that is *stealing*.

FUCK YOU for not bothering to fave, comment or request prints on any of my artwork.

Fuck you for removing the website link on my images, and fuck you for claiming them as your own.

A big FUCK YOU to photobucket for being such ridiculous asshats when it comes to copyright infringement.

A big 'WTF?!' to deviantart for not allowing deviants to have more control over who can view their artwork (public, members, friends, disabling right-click etc..).

Anway ~

=rjonesdesign showed me one of my images that had been ripped on photobucket.com. I was curious enough to keep searching to see if it was just a one-off thing. Needless to say, it wasn't. Not only on photobucket, but blogs and other places as well.

I'm not going to be taking down any of my images or putting ugly watermarks on them. There are plenty of artists out there with wonderful artwork that want to share it with people without ruining it, and that is something to be appreciated. I am thinking of putting a small logo on any pictures I make that will be difficult to photoshop out though, so sorry about that

I'm still a little surprised though, I didn't think I was popular enough to have my images ripped (because, like, you know, that only happens to deviants with 100,000+ pageviews, right?) but I guess I was wrong.

It's taking forever to get my laptop fixed! Either it's people taking their sweet time or waiting for parts to be shipped in. Seriously though, in this whole time, I could have paid saved up and paid for a new desktop >.<

So anyway, this is the reason for my lack of artworks. Sure I can use Josh's computer but it's kind of hard to really get into it when you have to share etc etc. I have actually taken up sketching again. With real paper an pencil . The good thing is though I've taken time to actually do studies and sketches so I'm gradually improving my artistic skills

Ok, I'd almost given up completely and decided to blame it all on Vista... but I did manage to fix it, kinda accidently. It's still Vista's fault.

Now I'm not sure if this applies to all graphic tablets being used on Vista, but basically every time you plug it into the computer, Vista butts in and installs it's own driver or whatever it is. I looked at all the device properties and soon realised that they were being installed as mouses, NOT graphic tablets... hence the cursor still worked but not the pressure sensitivity.

So I uninstalled the automatic driver and went about looking for the real one. After looking at CAPAX's website I was kind of disappointed to not find any drivers for Vista (it said Vista installed it automatically), but I figured I'd try the manufacturer's CD even though it just had Windows 2000/XP written on it. And......... it worked!

So I'm looking forward to getting back into artwork, I just have to find a way to get some of my WIP's off my screen-less laptop

Ok, sorry about not updating with any new artworks lately.....

I need some help with photoshop. You see my boyfriend kinda screwed my computer.... (EDIT: and now I have to use his computer!!) and while I do have all my files still on an external hard drive I've been having some trouble with Photoshop CS on his computer.

Ok, I have two Tablets... One is an XP-pen and the other is a CAPAX. Both worked fine on my Windows XP Computer with Photoshop CS, and on my boyfriends Vista computer they also work fine, but not on his Photoshop CS.

The problem is the pressure, it seems to work on every other program on his computer but not Photoshop CS. I've tried updating the drivers but APPARENTLY they're all fine. Does anyone know why this is?

EDIT:

PLEASE help me! The pressure seems to work ok on Vista itself... but as for Photoshop I cannot make it work, AT ALL! I got so frustrated I even downloaded the GIMP... and guess what.... it doesn't work on the Gimp either!

I don't know about the xp-pen (is not my favourite one because it's so tiny) buy the CAPAX Vista-pad doesn't actually have ANY drivers on its website or anywhere else because, "No need to install drivers - Vista does it automatically". Can anyone help me Please?

Ok so in my boredom I shall rant about this nifty little painter-type program Artweaver :d

So I haven't done much with it lately because of being BUSY and such, but it's pretty cool and I'm surprised it's not a little more popular....

In terms of quality I think it compares to painter like inkscape compares to illustrator.

Ok so this is what I've been working on lately:

It's kinda inspired by some toilets we had to use at work when the toilets on our level were being renovated. They were on a different floor, and the ENTIRE floor was.. bare (apart from the toilet block of course). No offices or anything, just one big bare empty floor (under renovation/construction obviously). Anyway it was heaps creepy and it inspired me.

I'm kinda stuck though, not using references. And I'm lazy and avoiding it lol. As you can tell I've got a fair way to go on it..

Anyway, here's a questionnaire to keep you all occupied.

10 THINGS ABOUT MY ART

1. I like pink. Oh yes.

2. I like to clash things a bit. Pretty with sombre, etc. I switch between styles a lot too, it makes my gallery look a tad eclectic.

3. I've forgotten how to use a real pencil.

4. That buttefly up there ^ I drew it when I was 13/14 with the full intention of getting it tattooed the day i turned 18. I'm 19 and a half now.

5. I draw to many female noods. I'm not a lesbian but I really like drawing bewbs. I like wangs alot though, I shall be incorporating them into my gallery soon enough. (I haven't had too much experience drawing penises. Apart from the infamous iSuck wallpaper ) I love sexy art too. Even if it's the borderline pornography kind. Heck, even the pornographic kind. Although I can't post that here :/

6. I often start things that I have no intention of actually finishing.

7. I have a soft spot for anime, yet I am shite at drawing it.

8. I find it very hard to draw without a reference these days. Before all my art became digital, I didn't have too much of a problem because it was normally just pencil sketches and such. Digital art (in my opinion and experience) demands a lot more detail. I'm working on it though, I'm using references less.

9. I don't update as much as I'd like too [work and study]. I still have pictures from '05 on the first page of my gallery :/ My aim is to make at least one ok piece, even if it's not perfect or is a little sketchy at least once a week from now on.

10. I like my artwork to only tweak slightly at peoples emotions.. Sometimes i purposely place or leave imperfections, or take an aesthetic asset away. Cuz delicacy and nuance can be more impacting than something overtly passionate or emotional. Although, if it looks like a mistake, it prolly is ;]

Watermarking Your Work

In light of recent goings on with image theft and such I would like to recommend to deviants that don't want their works used without their permission that they watermark their artwork.

Some deviant friends I have (that I won't name in case they don't want to be identified) have had some problems with art theft and D.A. agreements (i.e. off-site linkes to artworks instead of directly uploading to D.A. servers) have had worries about the rights they have to their artworks.

I find the best thing you can do short of not uploading or showing your artwork on the net is to watermark it. And the better you are able to watermark your work the less likely art thieves are able to steal your deviations.

_{I'm finding browsing for stock photographers on dA to be a very tricky thing of late, mostly because people will post images as stock when they know they either can't do anything with it themselves, or don't feel it's up to standard for their gallery. Other stock artists are very popular and heaps of people have used the stock in their artwork already. So, here's a small list of stock artists I like so far..}

I am planning some more artwork, just trying to find inspiration at the moment, I'm trying to be more creative with my vector art, and I guess I'm still trying to find my own unique style. I like the gradient mesh, but I like more simplistic vectors also, so there probably will be a mix of the two troughout my gallery in the next few months.

Anyway, my boyfriend Will be adding some anime to his account soon

In just under six weeks it will be my 18th birthday, finally old enough to legally by booze, and then get a dA subscription
