It was the first anime that I ever saw and I enjoyed it like all the other kids that grew up with it. In retrospect, not my favorite anime in the world, but whatever. I rented the live action movie after thoroughly enjoying the new Street Fighter movie that came out. I went into this movie with no expectations at all. Well, okay, so I hoped that it wouldn't be painfully cheesy.

And it was cheesy, but not in a painful way. I got to say, the casting was excellent (except for surfer Yamacha) and the effects were very dragonball-esque. You know, in the typical dragonball over the top ridiculous way. I loved the interpretation of the dragonball world, which was my favorite part. Overall I think I laughed through most of it, like the way I laugh through the really old batman movies. The movie left the storyline wide open for more movies, which I think is great. I really like how they super summarized the Piccolo storyline. I think going into any more detail would have made this movie very painful. It's pretty to the point (unlike the anime, where most episodes are of lots of grunting and people throwing punches). Overall I liked the movie, it was enjoyable, but its no Lord of the Rings.

Just had to share.

It took 3 hours with only local anesthesia (didn't get knocked out with IV) and probably next to like 15 shots! I guess I had some unforeseen complications that couldn't be detected by x-ray. Anyways, when the numbness wore off, I was in the worst pain of my life and the pharmacy took 3 hours to fill my pain drugs. 3 long hours of horrible pain. My dad pretty much had to baby me. Fill my glass with water, figure out which pill to take, cut my gauze into reasonable pieces, pat my back when I choked on meds (can't really shallow very well at the moment), prepared an ice pack for the swelling... the list goes on.

I haven't eaten since breakfast (6am) so I'm super hungry, but I'm so swollen I can't shallow. (made pills hard to get down) Overall, the actual procedure was kinda fun. The dock explained what he was doing (but spared me the details of how) and was very attentive and patient with me. (I was only scheduled for 45 minutes since my x-rays made it look like my teeth would be easy to come out or something) My tech was a long time friend of my mom and it was awesome having her there. She can read my thoughts just by the look in my eyes. It's awesome. The doc thanked me for the "cool" operation and not biting him (it happened when he did jaw surgery on me, oops). Anyways, with all the gauze and tissue in my mouth to stop bleeding and keeping me from drooling I can't talk. so I've been communicating by giving my parents text messages. LOL. Anyways, moral of the story, pain sucks, but knowing that I can finally get Invisalign and eventually a beautiful smile has made this all worth it. Oh. I got to keep my teeth too. Sadly only one was in one piece. T^T

I get home, I unpack the new computer, start it up... and then click on Internet Explorer (the only internet browser on it) and the computer freezes. I restart. I try IE again, the computer freezes. WTF. This is why computers should just come with Firefox.

EDIT: So, after the showdown, the manager at Bestbuy agreed to exchange the computer for one of equal value. So, I got an Asus laptop. Here It's got blue sparkles. No really, its pretty. Anyways, I can pick it up tonight after they do their start-up, add removal stuffs. Then I have to reinstall my art programs, put my personal files back on and ugh.. so much work. OH. And tomorrow, I'm getting my wisdom teeth out! FTW.

EDIT: Turns out they did need to keep my computer. Said they'd need it for 4 days to diagnose the problem and then a couple more days to fix it. WTF. Anyways, I got out my old virus laden laptop that has all my old art programs and tablet already installed on it. I'm slowly trying to work on commissions that way, but its slow going. Comp runs so dang slow and I can only have one program open at a time or it freezes. BLAH. THIS SHOULDNT BE HAPPENING TO ME. I spent TONS of money to insure that this wouldn't happen to me!! *slams head into desk* Can someone just stab me?

So, my brand new, two month old computer has crashed. I mean, WTF?!?!?!!! This pisses me off to no end. What is really tragic is that I might not be able to get my psd files of my commissions. Which means I'll have to re-ink over the sketches I already sent. #(%EFJEFDNMD(#$%*)($#!!! Anyways, I'm going to ask at BestBuy today if they can back up my hard drive before they dissect my computer. If they require stealing my computer away from me, I'll install my tablet on my parent's computer and finish commissions that way. One way or another, I will get you your artwork. I promise.

Thank you.
Kitsu

It really made me furious at these Japanese whalers that think they can legally kill hundreds of whales in the ocean in protected areas in the name of "research." The Sea Shepherd is one of the whale protection vessels that fight these whalers saying that they are in violation of international law. Anyways, here is the link to more info: [link]

Being a scientist myself and being actively involved in Research in my own field, I understand that taking tissue samples does NOT require killing hundreds of animals. Note, that almost all Whale researchers DO NOT condone this practice of killing whales.

Gah, normally I'm not a tree-hugger, environmentalist type person, but this show just got me all up in a huff. Some other news articles of interest:

[link]
[link]
[link]

That's all. Oh, and before I get flamed, I have nothing against normal, law-abiding people, regardless of race or nationality. Thank you.

THIS IS A RANT.

Some recent frustrations.

1. Paid for a commission, but then never heard from the artist?
Just like to make the statement: This is stealing. It's against the law. Period. If you can't finish a commission, offer a refund and an apology.

2. Life is more important right now, so your commission has been put on hold.
I know, it happens to the best of us. (Me, alot.) It's one thing putting off a commission for a week and notifying your customers on the rare occasion, but it's another to be ALWAYS complaining about how your life is so hard and busy and you'll get to the artwork eventually. You know what, if you're too busy, don't offer commissions!

NOTE: It is still proper etiquette if you warn the commissioner in advice of how long it will take to finish art. If they agree, there is no problem.

3. Secret Santa
I think every one has had this problem. You do your half and you get nothing in return. OR you do get your art, but its total crap. (I've had excellent exchanges and some really awful ones) If you have a tendency to be lazy on art: Don't enter! No matter what your skill level. If you do enter one of these programs, be advised that you do so at your own risk. Go in with a positive attitude and don't whine if you don't get anything. It's supposed to be a selfless act of charity anyways.

4. Hetalia is the new Naruto
*sigh* Another fad on DA. Are people getting into it just because it's popular? I don't think its a bad series or anything (certainly not my genre though) nor is Naruto, but what ever happened to the days of people creating their own original art rather than all this ridiculous fanart? Hetalia is like eating too much candy-- you get sick of it eventually.

5. Lack of information and communication on the part of the buyer for a commission, is not the artist's fault.
I don't know how many times, someone has asked for a commission, and I said send me the info and we could talk and then they never reply! Then, down the road they are angry that I never sent them a sketch. Well, hum? I wonder why. If I don't see a payment or more info, I don't draw for you. Nuff' said.

6. Requests? Seriously.
*double sigh* As artists, we are not your personal servants. We will not create a character just for you. It would just be better if YOU create a character for you. Unless you pay us, of course. Raise your hand if this has ever happened to you!

7. Photographs of your pets.
Okay, so the three-thousand pictures of your cute pet hamster has officially lost it's novelty. Really. You like photography that much? Make a separate account for it. Let people watch photography accounts for photography and artwork accounts for the artwork, and stop SPAMing everyone else's inbox.

That's all. I feel better now. Sorry for the brutal honesty and insensitivity. Normally I'm pretty quiet about these things. My puppy chewed through her leash, a sprinkler head and made confetti out of my flip flops. Only right that I vent online.

So, today during lunch there was a young woman in our group constantly going on how police officers are corrupt and they smoke crack that they confiscate from criminals etc. Well, it turns out that my dad is a cop and a damn good one too. I couldn't help but feel offended since I know what good guys the local police force are. They risk their lives everyday trying to protect us and here is this snot going on about how shady and dishonest most cops are.

I tried talking to my boyfriend about it, and it turns out he has the same opinion as the girl. I mean, WTF is wrong with you dude? He says that my dad is just a special case. He forgets that my family of cops (which includes my mom and brother-in-law) are spread out over three counties and three different police forces. That's a lot of "special cases" for cops. Don't you think? Well, anyways, I'm just frustrated. I feel like he's angry at me for standing up for myself and my family--like I'm taking it too personal or something.

Then I was told I was close minded for not drinking alcohol. My reason for not doing so, is religious. I've made a commitment with God to not do certain things with my life and I don't think I should be judged and criticized because of it. Once again I was on my own defending my views. It's not like I'm terribly conservative or anything, but I feel like I deserve a little more respect.

Well I'm not particularly angry about it, just a little hurt.

It was awesome!). I could just feel my heart bursting with pride at the thought of being American. This country has given me and so many others such great opportunities and freedoms. I just can't imagine living elsewhere (and yes, I've traveled abroad many many times thank you).

Anyways, I also hear a lot of negativity about people not liking their country. (Politics aside, because politicians are always a nasty breed) I have to wonder if its just popular to hate one's country. I think its sad because, at least in America, the country has done so much for its people. We don't have to worry that the government will randomly cease our property, we don't have to worry that the police will steal our belongings, we don't have to worry that the grocery stores will be empty and that our houses won't burn because of a bombing.

Well, thats my thought for the day. Please comment, I'd love to hear people's thoughts.

Notes from the Judges:
B: "I really, really like the details, both in the background and in the dress, hair, violin, etc. Attention to detail makes me happy and makes for a pretty picture. YAY! It was also very classy and finished looking. Not very evil. But that's not very much of a complaint, I guess, because I still liked it best."
L: "I really like this one... I definitely love the sheet music in the background."

2nd Place
Notes from the Judges:
B: "CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEPY but very well done. I liked the dramatic colors and the way the violin was insidiously taking over the woman. Mwahahahaha."
L: "I liked the color usage and the design on this one, I really like how the violin is branching out/diseasing her. It was very cool."

3rd Place
Luvbugbub03

Kitsu: "There was a three way tie for 3rd place, so I picked the one I liked the best out of the three. This one was my personal favorite, it's beautiful and menacing and I have a weak spot for textures well done."
B: "Well, I got a sense both of the implicit menace and of the somewhat seductive nature of evil. So I liked it."

Special Mention
Panilasteela

Kitsu: "I liked this one, because for some reason my line art doesn't stick out as much as the others. I think her CGing is a lot like my early CGing and I like it a lot."
L: "I don't know. I just saw this one and immediately loved it. The colors are brilliant and it all looks so amazingly put together."

Coffeelover

L: "I really like the colors in this, and the tone it gave the entire picture. I like how her expression is even affected."

Some Notes from Kitsu:
B & L didn't actually decide together who won, but the first two winners were both mentioned as ranking winners, so that's...
