Okay. I'm trying not to cry, because it's a little sad.
On Thursday at 10:00 am (GMT) I had to part with Smu. For those of you who don't know who, or more likely, 'what' that is, it was my car.

Smu was a 1996 Ford Fiesta Classic. Metallic Black and when I bought her she had 28,000 miles on the speedometer. -Pretty good for a 9 year old car at the time.

After owning her for a year and a half I finally had to sell her to fund my university expenses. I bought her because I felt that the 'real learning to drive' is after the driving lessons and test when you hit the road, alone! So I needed experience. And it was worth every penny. I did not crash or even bump her once, I was too paranoid at first.

I bought her when I was 17, I saved for just under two years to afford a car and I found her for a price of £1500 at a 'Highlane Garage' near where I live. (Feb 2006). It cost me about the same per year just to insure her and then there was tax, MOT and petrol to pay for. She also needed new brakes and a bearing.

It was a lot of money, but from my part time job I could afford her. (My parents did not help btw,, not because they're mean, but they could not afford it). -Not even for driving lessons or tests.

Parents: "If you want a car, you'll have to buy it yourself".
So I did. Fair doos.

At the end I travelled 12,000 miles with the Fiesta, to 40,000 miles. My friends and I had some really fantasic days out because of that car. Not to mention the holiday with . She survived all the hilly terrains in Cumbria and over the border to Scotland, but more importantly in the Peak District, near where I live. She survived my wreckless adventures to travel to new walking destinations, such as the Derwent Valley.

She passed her first MOT for me with NOTHING wrong. Not anything. Not even new tyres or brakes or spark plugs. Nowt. Notta. She was really awesome with little things like that. She rattled a lot, as old cars do, but she travelled onwards regardless.

So I've sold her, back to the people I bought her off. For £500, - a grand loss because it's a company, could have had more in a private sale, but I'm more bothered about a good home. They were happy to take her back, so she'll probably go to someone who'll look after her as I did. They have a really good reputation there. I'll definately get my next car there.
I'm still upset though. It feels like I've lost a great friend or a faithful pet.

Firstly!! I'd like to thank everyone for entering! It was a hard time choosing, hence the couple of days wait. A lot of the names were lovely and I don't like disappointing people's hopes, but I do have to choose.
Anyway! Hugs and cookies to all who entered:

I chose these names because of their simplicity and lovely sound they make upon pronunciation. Because the main character of the story is naiive, young, but with a lot of passion, I thought 'retty' names would be more suitable. (-I don't like the word 'retty' but I cannot think of another way to describe it at the moment. ) I prefer characters that are wise or noble to have lovely, long flowing names. Anyway...


***THE WINNERS ARE:*** -I hope I pronouce them right.

*IN FIRST PLACE: , with Akayla (Ah-Kay-La).

I thought this name had a lovely ring to it and I liked the idea that it could be shortened to a nickname of Akay, (Ah-Kay).
I also liked the name Akayla as it is short and rather simple to pronouce. I like to imagine my characters holding conversations and calling over distances to each other. A long complex name would be a little awkard.


*IN SECOND PLACE: , with Mela (Meh-La).
This caught my eye because, again it was simple and sounded lovely.


*IN THIRD PLACE(S): with Elajin (e-La-jin) and with Lintu (Lin-Two). I couldn't decide between these two. I thought they were rather unusual, I rather liked them.

I'm going to keep the long.... sheet of names and I would like to name some characters by them. -If that's okay?

If the winner could submit what I'd like them to draw, that would be great!!

I finally got Tomb Raider's menu music. I wanted the tune for years now and I've got it!!! It's not the one from the 3'rd game, as I hoped, but from the 2nd. I could only find that one. Still pleased though.

I thought it might be an idea to hold a competition as it seems to be the 'in' thing at the moment. It's an essential thing for my story, plus! It's a really simple competition and requires no talent at all! -For that reason it has an extremely short deadline, in comparison to others.

Okay, here goes. The character, who was previously called 'Kora' ( [link] ) from the story I hope to write one day, needs a name. For now she is nameless.

Britains been having a lot of rain! -Extreme flooding, and, although I've not been affected by the flood, the constant water has done bits of damage.

Such as: The kitchen floor being damaged and the cable for the phone wire which the internet runs through. Thus!!! No internet for Kora.

Basically, the internet keeps cutting in and out. More out than in, but it's getting better.

My car's not happy either. When the rain has fallen, it flooded the roads quickly, and my car's only small so I was worried she would drown! But she survived! Yay!

I have been drawing too! But you'll have to wait a bit longer.
I've not finished :iconmeow-woof : 's piece I promised a while ago. I've started on the watercolours, but the background is proving to be a little tricky. I've also decided to try a slightly different style. I hope it goes well, if not, I'll start again.
Anyway, I shall not submit or do other art until that is finished! I just hope the internet decides it likes me when I do finish.

I've been thinking a lot about Korlayth"a (Kora), the character I use for my story the last few weeks. You see I feel a bit lonely not having my own dragon character now. I abandoned Kora a few years ago because I though having a story about myself as a character in another world was a little weird. I also had to change her appearance several times to make her fit the story line and not myself.
So a few days ago I began designing a new character that had been stuck in my head for a while now. You know when you're walking along or generally thinking about a dragon, well 'this dragon', (that I will submit when it's finished), keeps getting stuck in my head. So I thought, "Why not".
The problem is. What should I do now about a character name? I love the name Kora, people even refer to me by it on here, but if it belongs to the character in my story then she probably should keep it.
So the ulimate question is;

Should I keep the name Korlayth"a (Kora -for short) to myself as my name and give the character in the story a new name, or should I give the name away to the story character and give myself a new name?

As for other news. I went to the Lake District, Cumbria at the beginning of June. I had a great time hiking the hills and generally doing crazy stuff with friends. My car survived too! I had to travel over 100 miles to get there, carrying 4 passengers and a lot of luggage. But all went well. We attempted to cross the border in Scotland, adding another 100 miles there and back. Not bad for an 11 year old 1996 Ford Fiesta.

We Stayed in Troutbeck, near Windermere btw. Just down from Ambleside.
Just one thing about Cumbria though, they like to promote the amount of road deaths they've had over the last five years.

Anyway. I had a fantastic time. I definatley want to return to Amsterdam at some point. It's a beautiful city and I would recommend it to anyone. I love how relaxed the people and the rules are. Especially since I'm from Britain and everything here is so tight.

Whilst I was there I saw The Van Gogh museum, The Stedelijk, The Red Light District (but that was boring), A photo journalism thingy in a church (???), and The Anne Frank museum. My friend and I also rented bikes and rode around the city, which was scary at first, but amazing fun! Not bad considering I was only there for 3 days.

The Anne Frank museum was definatley worth a see. I promised I'd try to visit it. The original diaries are there and you get to climb around the house to experience what the two families would have gone through just to hide. (I thought there was only the Frank family, but there ws another family in the house with them, which made 8 living in a confined space). It really made you sympathise with the families and realise what they must have gone through. We had to que for half an hour but it was worth it.

As some of you have probably noticed, I've subscribed to DA. I'm going to try and sell my work. Two pieces are for sale but if anyone has any advice about selling art on here please can you give me some tips because I'm a complete novice to it.

Also if anyone has any tips about how to do the fancy backgrounds to these journals please tell me how! I don't know how to and I want to be able to put something on.

Yay! I'm on my final project of my Art and Design course! -I'm not happy coz it's the last one. Actually I'm rather upset that it is, but I'm happy because I get to make miniature worlds! -Again! I did this project a while ago, but I've not had the photos back from my portfolio yet so I can't show you. -I will though.

Anyway! Really excited. Ideas are exploding out of my head.

I found a tiny computer monitor floppy disk storage thing at a jumble sale. So I'm going to use that for something. It cost me 10p! -That's too much money! I'm poor now!


Coming back to reality.
I'm off the Amsterdam for 3 days (Tues to Thurs) this coming week. Though, I'm never here much so you guys probably won't notice the difference. -And it's for art purposes. No weed. I won't inhale. I promise. :angel:

My sister and I had a scare today. It's been throwing it down heavily in showers all day. So leaving the jumble sale and my friend's ( ) house I drove with my sister towards home. I drove over the brow of a hill five minutes later only to find that I was forced to pull an emergency stop because the traffic infront of me going down the hill was rapidly braking. But because of all the rain, my brakes refused to grip and my tyres also lost grip. So I released the brake, hit it again and turned my wheel slightly left hoping to catch some grip. Luckily that worked and we managed to stop a few feet from the car infront. -Scary because the hill I was on is really really steep! Good thing the emergency stop was the thing I was most praised for by my driving instructor and my examiner. Now I know why they did! *Phew*.

Hello again. Preparing for uni is taking up so much time. When I do get any free time lately, I've just wanted to go out coz I'm sick of doing work. I want to enjoy my freedom, and I love my car too much. But, I do think about da a lot, and how I should be on it more often. *Guilt*
I've been accepted on to the Interactive Art and Design course as well. It's been worth it I suppose!

I've decided to keep my car (Smu) btw. My insurance came down by about £50! Which is a lot figuring that I've only had a car for a year. *Hugs car*.

My art course is going well too. I've settled in much more to it, I feel my skills and understanding of art have progressed dramatically with it.

My car's MOT is due at the end of this month and then I plan to sell it. I'm going to be really sad ithout her. She's been a good friend. But as University draws near I have to face facts that I'll end up in extreme debt if I kept her.

In good news! I know what course I may end up doing at Uni now. It's called Interactive Art, which is a BA hons diploma. It looks fantasic.
At the same time as seeing this course on the visiting day, which was yesterday, there was a massive winds, mainly consisting of strong winds, blowing across Britain and Northern Europe. So yeah I was being blown away at the same time. And the carnage on the way home was spectacular!!
Trees uprooted and blown over, car crushed by fallen buildings and walls. It gets worst. Flooding, fallen powerlines and 6 people being killed.

So yea. Eventful day!

I had a quiet Friday afternoon so what else do you do? The cinema was quiet too. Unusually quiet.

Anyway. Eragon.

One word... S**t!

It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The plot is terrible, the story line acts as if it's moving in fast forward. Nothing makes sense. They've missed loads out of the book at made tons of it up.

It's cheesy.

I figure they've spent their entire money designing Saphira and the remaining 'pennies' or 'cents' on actors and other non-important people.

Ok being fair. If you like Scottish dwarves and the most adorable hatchling ever, see this film. The best bit was when Saphira hatched. I've have never seen anything cuter in my life!!

Some faults for you. If you don't want to have the movie ruined by this spoiler look away now!!!

Tronjheim -Is wrong! It's not even in a volcano!

The Star Sapphire (Isidar Mithrim) - Not there. So as you can guess. The ending has changed!

Orik -Isn't in it.

Hrothgar (The Dwarf King) -Isn't in it.

The Twins -Not in it, well there's a small part, but I only knew that from the book.

The mission of the Varden is hardly mentioned, along with the alliance with the Dwarves, Katrina isn't in it. Saphira, by some miracle, suddenly grows up. And I mean SUDDENLY!!

When Saphira flies, her wing movements, at times are quite stiff. When she flies fast, she doesn't move her wings at all, not a flutter. She just curves her wings oddly, flying and sounding like a jet!

The history of Zar'roc isn't mentioned.

This is just skimming the surface!

I'm going to shut up now, but trust me. It's terrible. Stick to the book. They're much better. Keep it original Paolini!

I went on the huge wheel in Manchester, at night in gale force winds and rain.-That wasn't very clever, believe me. When your around 150ft in the air and swinging a lot, t'is scary, but fun!

I love my sculpture course. We're allowed to run free with anything we want to do using any materials we want. And! The people in it are awesome, take a few...

I've been in a very arty mood lately so hopefully there will be a lot more art coming on. That's if I don't go and break both my arms or something like that. That wouldn't be very good and I really shouldn't say such things! *Touches wood*

Btw, yes I did pass my driving test on Dec 6th 2005 at 9.00am. I've done the pass plus course of driving and on Feb 4th 2006 I bought my first car. It's a metallic black Ford Fiesta classic 1996, 1.1. I'll put a pic on so y'all can see it. ]]> ~korlayth-a
