Hey, fellow Deviants! It's been a long while since I've posted here, either journals or deviations. I haven't been doing a lot of drawing lately but you never know when the urge will hit, right? I have a feeling my upcoming graduation from Digital Animation will regain me my joy of doodling when I don't have course material sucking it out of my soul.

For those in the area, you likely know that Animaritime has come and gone earlier this month. We reached new attendee records with over a thousand anime, manga and gaming fans from around the East Coast. I'm currently writing a post about it over at my website and I'll post a link to it from there for the curious when it's done (Edit: The curious can now read it here. Suffice to say it was a blast and not even the lack of sleep and sore legs, could take away from how much fun the event was, especially my panels and the Artist Alley.

I got to meet a bunch of people from DeviantArt, including *AzraelEvangeline and :devyamicaffiene: who I regret not having more time to speak with. As usual I suffered from a good case of nervousness and fear that I came off as an impatient flake when in actuality I'm just not so great when it comes to meeting people I wish to befriend. Practice makes perfect, we hope! I'm so glad you two came down though, and hope you had fun ^^

Life has thrown me lots of curveballs lately but the good always manages to outshine any bad. *m-t-copyright and I have been both been hit by some different medical ailments this winter and we're eager for Spring to wash away the rest of what Animaritime couldn't cure (we suffered from anti-consilitis this year, woo-ha!). We're currently in the process of getting ready to move back into Halifax, get ourselves some money-making jobs and prepare for our first time at SDCC in July. I've also recently had the chance to do comic lettering for an upcoming publication, which was fun like you wouldn't believe, a big ball of all my favorite things meshed into something that's a profession. Freelance continues to be my best professional friend and I love how much I learn from every new project I have.

So life goes on and it's got tons of exciting new prospects, projects and events in the future, several of which I can't talk about right now but believe me will be worth any wait ^^ For now I leave you some DeviantArt stuff to check out:

Story of Mythology Contest

ART COMMISSIONS

Sketch ($5)
Digital LineArt ($10)
Digitally Coloured ($20)
+ Prices negotiable, varied based on individual image...

Edit: A reminder to fellow Maritimers that Animaritime's Artist Alley registration opens up tonight (Jan 8th, 8pm)! There's been lots of interest shown this year so the final numbers should be exciting. There's also the Art Galley where artists can display their work whether or not they're in Artists' Alley to give some more recognition to the amazing talent we have all around us. I know I have a bunch of locals on my watchlist so I better see some of you there

Holidays have (mostly) come and gone! I hope all my friends, watchers and random visitors had enjoyable ones. I for one am having a great holiday and I wish it would never end! I've had the last week or so to relax at home with some part-time work shifts and no school so I had lots of time to get client and website work done. I had the opportunities to do a lot of detailed cleaning around the house that I don't usually get the chance to so that was a relief too. Christmas was spent with the family for another fun year of guess-the-contents-of-our-stockings and enjoying some generally good times all the way around!

Santa got me Mario Kart for the Wii so I've been enjoying that as well over the last few days. I don't care much for using the steering wheel but the game itself is entertaining (even if the music stinks!). I really need some human competition though!

*m-t-copyright and I rented the movie Death Race yesterday, a self-proclaimed "man movie". Definitely lived up to its own hype and target-audience. It was a cool and fun movie of cars, explosions, blood, guts and sexy ladies, all coated in testosterone! We also went to see The Spirit in theatres which wasn't a good movie on the awards-level but I thought it was really, really fun. It's a comedy over an action so I think it wasn't marketed that well. The Spirit himself as a character was such a perfectly protrayed individual who balanced being hilariously-naive and stubborn with being a total manwhore. Saw Marley and Me as well. If you do, bring tissues! Lots of 'em.

In a couple of days *m-t-copyright and I will be hosting our group's customary New Years Eve/Christmas party! As always it promises to be loads of fun and with lots of good times to be had. The guest list keeps getting bigger so I'm hard at work making sure the house is tidy, clean and spacious to accomodate. Yay to all you guys who're coming! Feel free to bring some food and drinks (and sleeping supplies if you'd like to spend the night) :3

I haven't done much art-wise lately as it takes second-fiddle of my time and interest to nearly everything else but you never know when something random could pop up! Weird that I'm getting ready to graduate from an animation course isn't it? Atleast my good grades attest to the fact I must do it enough for school's sake so no worries! And only a few months left so yay!

DeviantArt-wise, are these new user-page layouts not awesome?! I was thrilled when they finally went live to use! I made a few tweaks to my journal's design so it matches better (and barely resisted the urge to remake a new one from scratch). All these changes are a breeze to use and a blast to customize. Also means people can use their DeviantArt accounts as a really sleek portfolio by taking out all that useless stuff. My user page for instance, is much slimmer right now. I hope these custom features are only for subscribers though. Us loyal payers have really been getting the short end of the stick recently!

A couple things of interest to people!

Animaritime's Artist Alley registration opens January 8th!

Whore of Turfan -By *m-t-copyright & ~gynocrat (18+)

AnimeAtLarge with lots of anime-related events for fans in the Halifax-area and some fun examples in the gallery

<img src="http://th04.deviantart.com/fs39/150/f/2008/337/2/a/Maji...

Quick life update! How goes Autumn so far for everyone? Good I hope! Quick note to start: Lego Batman is a very fun game! Finally a good co-op game too X3

College continues. It's now both more difficult and easier to deal with now that I've finally let myself fully admit how much I hate it. Hate it. Hate it. Bad organization, classes cancelled all over the place with no notice, little to no communication, etc. etc. etc. Doesn't help a person's spirits any when a portion of the class traces and copy their work from online either. I saw the same thing in the year ahead of us but it's still a shame. Especially since now our class is being made to work on an outside-source project. When the clients realize half the work is plagerized, it's gonna make some big-wigs mighty unhappy! That kind of trace/copy work fine is good for practice but not finished pieces you're submitting for publication!

On the upside, there're are some people in my class who are uber talented and I love watching them progress and seeing their work :3 You honest, hard-workers know who you are and kudos to you! We're all learning and gain something from each experience, good and bad.

In the end, I want my diploma so I can get out! Atleast I continue to love my apartment, have had some great times there with friends and roomies, and living in Truro has been a great experience. I've certainly decided I like the little town feeling a lot, though I do often miss the convenience of life in the city (though my wallet does not).

Thus Kuri's life continues, a pleasantly swirling life of college homework, graphic design clients, web clients, Animaritime prep work, my jobs (fast food joint and the library) and, of course, my website! A big thanks to *kagamihanei and ~Fyor for their help with some of my reviews ^^ Ultimately, I find it comforting having lots of stuff to keep me busy, even if I dislike a small portion of it... *stares at certain homework assignments*

Must get mighty boring having all my journals be generally the same, huh? XD Guess I'm not much of a general life blogger. Looking into moving to New Brunswick after school just 'cause. That's kinda neat news, right? 8D Maybe? Really hoping I'll have enough money to make a trip to an anime con in the States next summer so I can meet some people. Planes are so darn expensive, don't even start on hotel costs!

I end the journal with some artwork from friends/acquaintances currently in animation school (in my school except for the first) who're awesome and fun with what they do ^^

ART COMM...

A new journal layout yet again! Good practice, good fun :3 Still needs a few tweaks so don't be surprised if you see some stuff appear and disappear in the next couple of hours. Also, don't forget that I'm still offering commissions for custom journals! *wink wink nudge nudge*

Vaguely speaking of DeviantArt subscriptions (since you need one to have a custom journal entry), did anyone else recieve the e-mail for participating in a DA survey? Did you do the survey? Did you see some of the possible additions to the subscription system?! Holy wow. I resigned myself up as a beta tester (I wasn't one when I recieved the survey e-mail) just to get more info but not many people are talking about it! Am I one of a select few who got it? Crazy stuff... cool, cool, crazy stuff in DA's future for sure. Thumbs up!

Life-wise, my second year of Digital Animation has offically commensed! Looks like it's going to be a very comfortable year work-load wise. I have a new animation desk with a light desk that works beautifully, letting me realize just how much I was hindered by my broken one last year. Regardless of the awesome light table, I still can't wait for us to move onto digital animation roughs. Much easier getting really smooth animation since you can test it so frequently, plus I feel more comfortable with my tablet pen.

Haven't had the chance to really chat with any first years though. You guys are masters at vanishing; I know the feeling though, you just wanna get up and go! Never hesitate to come say hello :3 I'm not always rushing about in a hurry, I swear (sorry again, *amah!)!

I also got to put my earnings from my graphic design client work over the summer towards my new baby! I have 14 days to test 'er out so it's going through all the tests! I really just wanted something small and portable so I could type whenever and whereever the writing bug hits me (paper and pencil's been causing some serious wrist crampage when writing!). The Windows XP, massive storage space and really smooth wireless interent access are thus far just wicked bonuses. It's so small that I can fit it into my side bag/purse X3

Aside from those fun little bits of news, life goes on as usual. Lots of work to keep me busy, review and news writing for my website and now some school work to keep up with. Speaking of which, I have a crossword (tough workload ain't it?) due on Thursday; so best get to it!

ART COMMISSIONS

Sketch ($5)
Digital LineArt ($10)
Digitally Coloured ($20)
+ Prices negotiable, varied based on individual images

DA JOURNAL COMMISSIONS

Price varies based on request.
After spending the past weekend in Toronto for Fan Expo 2008, I'm back here in good 'ol Nova Scotia! Met some fun people, sold some stuff, bought tons more stuff and generally enjoyed having a fairly spontaneous trip. Won't be the last, that's for sure!

If you're interested in my fun-but-less-than-epic adventures, you can check out some posts I made about it on my LiveJournal:

Day One
Day Two
Day Three

I also made a more observational post about some stuff I saw over at my website, Kuriousity.

In other news, school starts this coming Tuesday. I'm looking forward to some of the work and a little structure (plus it puts me one step closer to planning for after-graduation!), but I'm not nearly as excited as I was before first year. It's a course with more cons than pro but a little effort can make it work for you. Atleast the work load was pretty small. Now that I have a better understanding of how it 'works' from first year, I hope second year will go smoother.

Not looking forward to some of the drama though! Like highschool all over again with the he-saids-she-saids and behind-back bullying you get to be witness too. I often forget most of the class are still fresh from highschool but I like to think age isn't total basis for that kind of immaturity. Those downsides aside though, I made a bunch of friends from my class last year, good times! I hope to make just as many this year.
So here I am, 22 years old as of August 7th! It was a pleasantly uneventful day and I recieved lots of Happy Birthdays from people online, which was very nice of them! Thanks to you who stopped by here or on my website and dropped a kind b-day word ^^ I had a fun dinner out with my family and got a spiffy new digital camera (which is going to get lots of love at the upcoming Fan Expo).

Also b-day related, check out the neat stuff I got from people here on DA! Thanks again you guys X3

Heads up to fellow con-goers, Fan Expo's website has updated with schedules and maps of the event. I wanted something nice and simple for this time around.
So DA version 6 is finally here. I've been watching the beta version grow and tweak for a while now. What do people think? Admittedly I hated it something fierce at first, still don't think it holds up to previous versions, but I'm getting used to it. Seems to me more like a showcase of coding ability over fuctionality. Sure it has some bonus quirks, but the more complicated a system, the more often and severe the problems run into. Make note it's taken me an hour for me to succesfully post this. Do I sound too old to say I miss the older days of coding simplicity?

Also on thoughts of DA, have I ever said how thankful I am for this community? For my small but cozy chunk of the community? I avoid people's journals unless they're friends or acquaintances because of all the drama. It's nuts! So much complaining, whining, insulting and negativity. I've been on DeviantArt since 2003 (more than five years!) and I love it here. I think the admins do a good job considering all the work they have to do. Too many people seem to think they deserve absolute perfection from others, when they themselves act out in ways that does nothing but breed animosity from others. That's not the DA I enjoy, so I avoid that and am all the better for it. DeviantArt's an awesome place with tons of great people on it; it's too bad there's so much dramatic sludge clogging up some of the workings. Thank goodness for my friends and watchers. You guys're all great and are the reason I've been coming back everyday since I signed up!

Other things of note, went to see Hellboy II on opening day. Wow. The story was pretty weak, and the ending even weaker, but the visuals and characters were amazing. Prince Nauda was especially impressive (fight-scenes, voice, appearance, personality and the fact he wasn't really a bad guy from the get-go). It makes me want to cry at the lack of decent fantasy movies there are to enjoy! Is it so much to want to see sword-clashing elfs, demons and magic-users beautifully splayed across a movie screen? I should hope not! This'll be a movie I'll watch again and again when it comes out on DVD, just to be reminded on how much is possible when you have a talented eye for detail and visual-charm behind it.

On that note, go check out MT's fanart of Prince Nuada because it too is awesome! Amah's picture of my character Diya for our art trade is also great! His line work is so pretty! I shall place the pretty thumbnails here for your viewing convenience:

I'm still open for art trades and commissions. Haven't figured out if the art trades will count towards my work term yet but they're still fun and a neccessary inspiration I've been lacking recently for drawing. So if you're interested in either, don't hesitate to comment in the comments section!

Also a bit plugging goes to my friend ~HawtPoptart who is offering free art requests for people to count towards her work term. So if you'd like to request a pic, head over to her journal and check it out.

And now I'm off to work through a scary downpour of rain and cascade of thunder and lightning! Yay? I think not... Nice to have a break in the heatwave though, right?

ART COMMISSIONS

Sketch ($5)
Digital LineArt ($10)
Digitally Coloured ($20)
+ Prices negotiable, varied based on individual images

DA JOURNAL COMMISSIONS

Price varies based on request.
... another heatwave. Blech, I hate any sort of extreme weather, hot or cold. Atleast I have my nicely regulated basement apartment to comfort me.

Art-wise things have been pretty slow for me. Been super busy keeping up with my review work but I've finally gotten just about all of 'em done! About 35 books read and reviwed in the span of two weeks. It was epic! With lots of good stuff. I find the good generally outweighs the bad so that's always nice :3

So now hopefully I'll do some more art, you know, to keep myself good an' artsy just 'cause. Have a couple random WIPs in the meantime:

That third one is my half of an art trade with *amah. I hope you don't mind me using one of my characters for it! I hope to have it done in the next couple of days.

In other news I saw Wall-E and Wanted in theatres recently. Both were alright, nothing too OMG-epic but none the less very entertaining! Wall-E screaming for Eve was too cute throughout that film. Next week is Hellboy II! *hyped*

In other other news, Animaritime's new 2009 website has gone up including the opening for pre-registration. This convention gets bigger and better every year so look forward to it! I can't wait to see the new and familiar faces :3 *hyped for something that isn't until March of next year*

That's all for now, hope everyone's doing well, had a great Canada Day and a nice summer so far!

ART COMMISSIONS

Sketch ($5)
Digital LineArt ($10)
Digitally Coloured ($20)
+ Prices negotiable, varied based on individual images

DA JOURNAL COMMISSIONS

Price varies based on request.
Like the weather! It was a pretty sad Spring as far as seasonal weather goes but as of the first day of summer, BAM! Instant heat stroke when you walk outside. I'll continue to enjoy my nice cool basement apartment, thank you very much.

I'm getting commission-envy, as in I want commissions from people but can't afford 'em right now. In light of this, I wanna do some art trades! Any interested friends which to partake in some art swapping goodness? I'm also hoping I can have these count towards my last remaining work term hours for school. Fingers crossed!

I'm also looking for some guest reviewers for my website. If you read manga and want to give a go at reviewing some, then by all means get in contact with me ^^ You can check out my site, Kuriousity, for examples.

And it looks like DeviantArt's recent journal altercations aren't agreeing with some custom journals, mine included. Guess it's time for a new one, this time by neccessity. Or atleast a slight altering of this one 'cause I like the image, it's summery!

Some things worth checking out:

Comics and Cartoons Character Sheet Contest
The DeviantArt/AnimeExpo Poster Design Contest
Help Choose DeviantART's Official Fella Pose

ART COMMISSIONS

Sketch ($5)
Digital LineArt ($10)
Digitally Coloured ($20)
+ Prices negotiable, varied based on individual images

DA JOURNAL COMMISSIONS

Price varies based on request. Or is it...? I know here in Nova Scotia the weather has been quite all over the place, from really hot to chilly-cold overnight. Where's the consistant Spring? I want some nice leveled out temperatures before I need to prep for meltage in the summer.

Currently trying to find a job, no luck yet but my fingers remain crossed and my resumes remain what feels like everywhere! A college student looking for a summer job, why's it so hard?! Oh right, tiny town... phooey. Been keeping myself busy in the meantime with my work term, the last work I must do before officially passing my first year. I have until mid-June or so to do 200 hours of animation or animation-related work. I'm almost halfway!

Regarding both my lack of job and my need for more art stuff to do for clients, you guys can help! I'm all caught up on commissions I was doing so commissions are open! Complete with a few lower prices while I work on bulking up my work term! I'm posting the information for it below for people's convenience:

ART COMMISSIONS

Sketch ($5)
Digital LineArt ($10)
Digitally Coloured ($20)
+ Prices negotiable, varied based on individual images

DA JOURNAL COMMISSIONS

Price varies based on request. Who is this crazy person?!

I haven't been doing much around DA the last while because of the horrible glitches running through the system all March. Most annoying being the deviations out of order. My devWatch box is constantly changing orders on me; I'm not seeing new deviations from my watch list until days, sometimes weeks, later and old deviations are showing up back on the list years after they've been uploaded. Craziness! I hope it gets fixed soon, surprised not more people are complaining about it honestly >> Not that I want that, deviants create enough drama around here, am I right? XD

For those whom I promised it to! My Super Smash Brothers Brawl friend code: 4940-5182-4824 I wanna fight some peoplez! Not sure how long it'll last though, my neighbours with the easily <strike>stealable</strike> borrowable wireless internet are moving out (and being obscenely loud as if to spite us or the landlord but smashing walls!) so my Wii may not be internet-cruising for a little while. My little Nintendo Wii Wi-Fi connector burns out really quickly.

My newest deviation, I'll Protect You - Coloured sure seems to be getting a lot of favs all of a sudden. Is it being plugged somewhere I don't know about? Well I'm glad people like it ^^ I'm still living in the OC sketch-phase; it's been really good for me artistically, freely sketching without being overly anal about line quality. I think my sketches are lot more natural in pose and weight than my finished ones. Much love

People who've commissioned me, I am working on them! I'm doing them in order of which I got them and I'm currently being backlogged by an especially picky request. Never fear, they're on the way!

Other artsy-ness, final projects happening at school! My experimental project (stop motion with clayman) is still dead in the water, with little work to match my little interest 8D I really need to buckle down and just do it.... but my other projects are coming along nicely. I'm just about done my final for first-year 2D class and looking forward to getting started on my 3D final! Hito is again my character of choice 'cause she's small, cute, simple in design and I can draw her no problem. For 3D I'll be using my KH-inspired version of her since it'll be spiffier done up to look like a video game render.

Spring time, where are you?!

Recent uploaded sketches:

Edit: ...and in continuation of my DeviantArt woes; all my messages have disappeared completely T_T All my comments, favourites, watches and deviations that I haven't replied to yet

Commissions: OPEN
Currently offering art commissions (including prints and stickers!) as well as journal layouts for DA subscribers.

Never done it like that before in the years I've had it so naturally it'd be now! Silly Flash. Hopefully it'll be more cooperative in the near future. School finals need finishing!

Oh yes, Happy Easter everybody! Everyone eat lots of chocolate? I spent my weekend gnawing on my two-pound chocolate bunny and finishing the upgrades to my website, Kuriousity. Still a few tweaks needed but the new features are just about done their integration. MT now has MTCopyright.com set up as an art blog so check that out for sure, and keep your eyes peeled for some content over at SonoPants.com!

I've also spent the last week or so playing Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Was lucky to get a copy the day after it came out (woulda been the day of but I was at con!). Great game. The cutscene quality is incrediable and fantastically entertaining. Playing it with the Wii-mote and Nunchuck is lots of fun but I like switching between the GameCube controllers and Classic Controller as well. Nuuu! It was an amazing experience this year! Staffing was tough when it came to finding time to sleep and eat (opportunities for which came few and far between) but it was totally worth it. It was fantastic having the chance to finally meet the people I’ve been speaking with through staff meetings online for so long and they’re all such nice and hardworking people! The con-chairs were brilliant and amazing people, I felt so attached when I met them. It sorta felt the same with a lot of the staff people, it was weird but so nice. Everyone being so connected through common interests and goals! I got to see Pants & co again, even if only for short spurts of time, so that definitely helped make my weekend. I miss everyone so much already though! Definite hang time needed in the future.

Artist’s Alley was great! It was definitely one of the weekend’s highlights. To everyone who came by my and MT’s tables with kind words, interest and conversation, thank you so much! So many of you bought prints and it really made us feel special. I’m thrilled so many people liked my bookmarks and stickers; I hope they serve you well and look just as cute whenever you see ‘em! I sold out of a lot of stuff so I know to be better prepared next year! I have some things left over so expect a journal about that in the near future.

I ran a bunch of panels this year. With it being my first year on staff, I was super nervous but it was so much fun! I ran shonen-ai and Yaoi with Pants & MT, then Yuri with Kagami (who will be on staff next year, right!?), and ended up doing Bishonen Survivor at the last minute. They were all so much fun, the attendees were amazing! Everyone had such great senses of humour and really paid attention. I loved laughing along with you guys! I hope all those who attended my panels had fun and I can’t wait to do ‘em again and see some familiar faces next year!

A huge super thanks goes to Cara for letting MT and I crash in her hotel room for most of the trip. It was much fun staying in a room with you, watching movies and hanging out! I didn’t want to leave on the last night but I felt so bad with you sleeping on the couch in your own hotel room! I’m sorry! Geebus, that doesn’t even count how often I asked you to watch our table in AA when staff scheduling demanded our attention elsewhere. We owe you big time!

Cara, MT and I got to watch Enchanted on the hotel room TVs. That was super since I didn’t have the money (or energy when I was sick!) to go see it in theatres. It was such a sweet movie, it poked and hit every stereotype but in a way that was charming, cute and with a great hint of classic Disney magic. I really liked it. And the animation… it was so beautiful. I miss you Disney 2D T__T

Overall it was a wonderful weekend. I spent a lot of it tired and hungry but not nearly as much time as I spent thrilled, excited, laughing and prepping for the next thing to throw itself at me. Now to see if I can concentrate on other things before I begin preparing for next year ;3

Ever so quickly charging up. I'm so excited and little worried at the sametime. Trying to be prepared for Artist's Alley plus all the panels I'm running, and getting all my stuff ready to sell in the Garage Sale... but all good! Nothing like an amazing convention that's super cheap to attend X3 Which is why I'm gonna see all my Maritimer friends there, right? 8D Cool to hear from a bunch of you that you're going!

March Break comes right after the convention so with my college mid-term assignments done before con then the con over with, the week of March Break is going to be freakishly dead. I've had a million and one things to do at all times for the last couple of months, not to mention being sick. So hopefully expect more art? I've got my fingers crossed I'll get a few commissions through the convention so hopefully I'll have those to work on over March Break!

Fellow Digital Animation Students:
*m-t-copyright ~sonokitsunekono ~mangagirl ~kittie665 ~DaWnTuNeS ~HawtPoptart ~Caden13 ~freakingfabulous ~CWaugh11 ~DreamTeam-sideshow

Things on DA worth checking out right now:
2008 Ani-Jam!
DA Etiquette
Anime Postcards from Around the World
Misskittyooo's Who Accepts Commissions? Though it certainly doesn't seem that way outside; lots of mild weather and super windy...

Some tweaks to my journal as watchers can probably see! There were some kinks I was finally able to fix thanks to some help from `thespook and =philho who gave me a hand when I posted my troubles on the forums. My infections turned out to actually be side effects caused by Mono. Not a fun illness to have, let me tell you. I've been pretty artistically drained (aside from just drained in general!) but I've slowly been getting better and hopeful I'll be able to doodle a bit soon. Been lots of fanart recently; it's been the perfect mindless thing to keep me doing something artistic that doesn't require as much thought (no offense to fanartists, it's just not usually my thing). Plus it's good prep for Artist's Alley at Animartime 2008!

Speaking of the con, it's shaping up to be pretty huge this year! With big name guests like Svetlana, lots of vendors bringing in tons of sweet stuff and a staff that works it's butt off every single day, it's going to be pretty great! Hotel filled up fast this year too, expecting big crowds. It's an amazing experience for anime and gaming fans so I hope everyone in the area comes to hang out and have a good time X3 I'll be in Artist's Alley this year and helping run the shonen-ai, yaoi and yuri panels. I hope to see people there!

Art Trades/Requests: CLOSED
Commissions: OPEN

Happy New Year! Well... in about an hour and a half anyway. To celebrate I'm following a bunch of other people around DA with some positive flashbacks to 2007! Friends I hope do the same!

Some great things that happened to me in 2007:
(atleast what I remember because I'm sure there's tons more and I get confused as to what happened when XD )

- Quit my job at the hospital (okay job but was killing me slowly!)
- Got really sick but quickly really better! (see above and below)
- Moved to an amazing apartment in a nice small town
- Got some positions reviewing manga
- Started at animation school
- A new attitude towards my art that's really great
- Accepted as staff member at Animaritime (and lovin' it!!)
- Best video game year in a long time! Expensive DDR pads? Oh yes! Almost all the DDR games? Oh yes XD Wii?! Heck yeah!

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable New Year celebration. It's the end of one year and the beginning of a new one, a great time to set some goals and start things fresh :3

Some of my goals for 2008:

- More art! (and commissions? *wink wink nudge nudge*)
- More manga reviews from my collection
- Get another/more writing gigs online
- Have a super amazing Animaritime 2008!
- Comment more often on people's deviations!
- New DeviantJournal layout!

To friends in Halifax (and now new friends from college!) who couldn't make it to this year's party, here's the same message I give ya every year (a warning to new friends ;3 ) I have the same get together sametime every year as I have for the past four, so you have a year in advance to be ready if you wish to come 8D I know new jobs are hard to work around and family always needs visitin' so I hope you all enjoyed yourselves whereever you were (are?). A happy new years celebration to kick off a happy year, yes?

Journal layout inspired by =lockjavv & `Lilyas

It's time for another update in Kuri-land! First comes the irony of the fact that I've been drawing more recently than I have in years and yet little to show for it! Most of my drawing time is spent in class on frame after frame after frame for simple animations that one day I will slap together as a compilation and put up here. All other time is spent on pictures for Animaritime 2008 and GoComi!'s doujinshi contest (I only have two days left to finish! Panic time!). I do randomly post some sketches on my LiveJournal attack that don't make here to my scraps.

Other news, I just won 2nd place in YaoiSuki's YaoiCon contest, that was cool; even cooler still the news from YaoiCon of three Hinako Takanaga titles being licensed!! I can't wait to hold those in my hand X3 She's one of my favourite manga artists, I adore her the sketch-like quality of her work! Plus she was one of the first yaoi artists I ever read work by so I've loved her a long time now :3 Now I can really show it by getting to buy some of her work now in English! Remember people, you're not a real fan unless you actually support the creator of series you love so much. Stealing, reading and watching illegally is no way to show love to the hard work put into work by people! It drives me crazy when people say otherwise -_-;

My collection of DDR grew today much to my health's benefit and my legs' dismay. Now a beautiful collection of DDRMax, DDR Extreme 1 + 2, DDR Original Konamix (best song collection!) and DDR SuperNova. A lot of dancing in this household's future I tell ya what (but on this awesome new solid pad, it certainly isn't a problem!).

Oh! Important news, since the upgrade from Hotmail to WindowsLive, I've been recieving a lot less spam. It's amazing! But... apparently I've also stopped recieving e-mail from certain friends and family members as well! While others have been automatically put in my Junk folder and thus don't get found by me for a while. So if anyone's e-mailed me and it's been a while since I've responded, I apologize! Please try again or send me a note through DA.

Well... that's about it. Work and school have consumed my life and I'm a busy bee! But on closing note, I am currently in severe love with the newest CLAMP in Wonderland The song is cute and addictive and as usual the animation blows my mind. That's the kind of project I'd love to do with my characters someday. Aspiration for the future! It'd make for one heckuva demo reel.

Much love, support and generic words of inspiration to all friends, supporters and well-wishers out there! It's a hectic time of year and only gonna get worse but we're ready for it, right? >3

Journal layout inspired by =lockjavv & `Lilyas

...inside joke about Soviet Truro. Anyhooz, an update from me, the now amazingly busy Kuri! Or Lissa, you know, whatever you prefer.

So I've started college, about two weeks, in and wow is there ever a workload! Lots of assignments to do and little to no class time so MT, Sono and I have been spending most of our time in the college studios getting our stuff done. It's a lot of fun, if not a bit irritating at times while the teachers try to get themselves organized. I have already animated...dun-dun-dun, a bouncing ball! And am currently in the processing of animating two more. I love pencil animation and the pencil tests, it's so incredible seeing a pencil drawing brought to such fluid life like that! Though I'll admit the paper usage is disturbing beyond reason. We had our first Digital Illustration course today and I couldn't believe how many people have never used, or heard of, Photoshop before. Needless to say, we were some of the top of the class and should be exempt from further assignments (awesome, no?)

I'm still working at the bakery, though I keep questioning how long it'll last; if this workload is any indication, I may not have the time! However, I need the money and I'm hoping it won't be so bad once I have a final school schedule to work around and some solid shift hours. I've had two shifts working on my own and though I'm still not fast enough to get out on time, it's not that bad otherwise; tons of work, but a nice level of customer service, tedious chore-work and independance.

On top of that, I have some commission work, my bust requests, manga reviews and various other things to handle, including getting my staff application for Animaritime in as soon as I can! Awesome possum. All of it is proving incrediably difficult to find time for with work from 5-11pm and school days lasting often up to 9pm! So in short... don't be surprised if you guys don't see me online as much or get any new uploads for a while (though I may upload some of my school work as I finished) XD Busy, busy, busy! It's amazing going from nothing to suddenly having my life a constant busy schedule and though stressful at times, it's nicely exhilerating.

I met someone today that used to be on the otherside of a group of online friends I hang/used to hang out with, a few years back. Small world, and randomly stuff like that reminds me of it.

Oh! And DA finally fixed my old deviations; my pre-2005 pictures that still remain in my gallery finally have all their comments and favourites back! Yay!

Just finished watching 'Disney Princess: Enchanted Tales'. Holy carp, their personalities! Disney what have you done? XD It was pretty hilarious, especially Sahara, this amazingly pissed off and well animated horse that the air-headed Jasmine tames. Though of course despiste the horrendous personality failures and bad storytelling, the animation was surprisingly high-quality for a cheap Disney production. Now we're watching the 'Dr. Strange' movie and it's pretty cool thus far, nicely animated as with a lot of Marvel's recent straight-to-DVD releases. There's so much amazing DVD animation out there that gets missed, it's sad, especially with straight-to-DVD releases being a lot of great 2D stuff which is getting harder and harder to find.

Thus the end of another longer-than-anticipated update in Kuri land!

Journal layout inspired by ~lockjavv & `Lilyas

This is a journal test. I'm finally playing around a bit more with the DA journal stuff... I still like keeping things pretty simple so is probably it. Except random changes on the upper image though, this was just a quick throw together. Still can't get the footer to show up

Had a couple shifts working at the Bakery and I'm really liking it. It's a lot of work! I have trouble imagining how I supposed to do it all on my own, which they say they think I'd be ready for soon. Training is supposed to be a full month but they say I'm learning so quick that four five-hour shifts should do it XD It's a compliment though also a little freaky, hope I can handle it. School starting tomorrow, though I doubt I'll actually be in class until Wednesday or Thursday.

I haven't been really artistic in any sense recently so my art and writing has suffered a bit of lag... I'm hoping it's just me getting used to working and the idea of school again. I've been playing a lot of video games to fill in lost time but I should really be practicing my sketches! For shame! That said, there's still 6 spots open for free bust requests for any who didn't see the four I uploaded. When I can't even find ten people who want a free piece of art from me, I can't help but feel a tad offended, you know? XD

Journal layout inspired by ~lockjavv & `Lilyas

Firstly, though I lost the Justice contest, I did win a random drawing contest over the ActiveAnime forums and won the full version of MangaStudio v.3! An almost $300 value! For a program I've wanted to try for ages! How cool is that? :3 You'll probably see more comic page attempts from me in the future ;3

Though venting my happiness aside, the real purpose of this journal is to offer ten slots for free bust requests. I joined Mero's sketch chain a little while back so now I'm putting up a chain of my own.

The rules are usually that you post a comment in this journal of what you want me to draw, then you need to put this same request opening in your journal for ten people. I think that adds a bit of pressure so you only need to do it if you want to So, yeah, the first ten people to comment on this journal asking for me to draw a bust of any character, fanart or original (though I'll need a referrance), will get it. Simple, right?
Now some things I make note of today; numerical for your convenience?

1. The Justice contest for DA's Birthday has come to an end! I had lots of fun working on my entry, especially doing daFella. There's lots of really neat entries over there to look at so I recommend heading on over. Now it's just a matter of waiting to see who won. (( Edit: Winners have been posted and no win for me. Not even an honourable mention! Can you believe it?! Heh, I kid. The winners were definately of a skill level way higher than me but just means I have far to strive! I'll win an art contest someday ))

2. I tried submitting news for the first time the other day. Many thanks to those who favourited and commented; and you're all very welcome for featuring some of your work (I couldn't get DA to let me respond to your comments on it!). Expect it again; you guys deserve it :3

3. For a birthday present for myself I bought the TMNT movie on DVD. If you liked the movie even a little bit in theatres, buy the DVD! Buy it, watch it and for the love of Splinter, watch the special features! That movie would've been twice as awesome if they had kept their original ideas in there! I couldn't believe what they had cut out, especially their original idea for the opening on the movie. They blew me away and also saddened me so much by how much better I think the movie would've been with those first ideas. Much more focused, much more suiting to the franchise.

4. Rush Hour 3 was really good... except for the ending. Wow, the ending... it was, uh... not there? You have to see it to the believe it. Best example of 'we just didn't feel like doing it anymore' EVER! XD

5. Anyone who watches me and read this have a good grasp of CSS? What about WordPress? I use it for the News portion of my website but I'm having huge problems trying to get it more integrated with the rest of my website and have noone I know to turn to for help! Anyone? It's driving me nuts >_<

6. I was finally able to get a job! It's at Sobeys and for my friends, don't freak out until you finish this paragraph XD Not only is the Sobeys right across the street but they're ridicuously nice about my scheduling so I can work whenever I want, how long I want all around my school schedule. Plus, I'm not doing cash. Because I had previous experience, they asked if I would be willing to be trained in the bakery. They seemed happy with my interview because I was immediately given the job. Yes! Happy Kuri :3 Money again! And the job seems pretty fun, plus is pretty independant which I like.

7. ... uh... nope, thats it. I really want to go back to Disneyland? Haven't been there since I was twelve I think... how I wish to go there with friends someday T_T It's such an amazing place, seriously.

Listening To: Lots of stuff on my new iPod :3
Reading: "Can't Win With You!"
Watching: TMNT
Playing: Kingdom Hearts II (replay = good)
Eating: Birthday brownies.
Drinking: Chocolate milk!

... to me! Oh and DA too 'cause it's nice to share. And to Ukari, more sharage! I'm 21 today, only one year older and yet 21 seems such a huge stretch from 20... no apocalypse though so life continues.

It was a pretty good birthday all way around ^^ In prelude, yesterday my older sister came by to give me a card and some birthday brownies which was great; Gemma and Molly both wished me a Happy Birthday and I recieved new books from Shevaun and Kenny as b-day presents last I was in the city. Many thanks to all you guys! X3

Day-wise, this morning MT, my mother, my younger sister and my cousin all went out for brunch, followed by a shopping trip with MT where I spent more money than I should of but got some stuff I needed. I didn't get to hang out at the Clay Cafe like I wanted because it decided Tuesday is the day of the week it's closed. Oh Truro and your crazy backward ways. Oh well... From my mother I got a super-cool black iPod video! It'll take me a while to fill this sucker up but I love the sound quality from it! My father is sending me a digital video camera which I can't wait to play around with; Friends prepare to see some random in the future when I get that sucker XD

Online love always means worlds to me too! Many thanks to Jewels, Messa, Sas-chan and Mikata for birthday wishes 8D As well as a few others I know from other sources who went out of their way to give me kind words and well wishes. I was so surprised and touched by all the sources who came out to wish me a Happy Birthday :3

And below we have some love I must share! I'm in loooove with these! You guys are awesome and so kind! MT also did me lots of sketchies and Mikata gave me a kick-butt present too but they're only for me >3

And thus was my birthday ^^ I feel very happy and oddly peaceful now that the day has come to an end... I've spent my last few birthdays dangerously depressed so this year was a great change; which I think is why I felt the need to put it all down here, for future referrance's sake. I continue to love my new place; I think getting out of the city and, more importantly away from my job, has been a big help to me in more ways than one. Now school needs to start and all's good :3

Hope everyone has a great day and don't forget to have fun around DA today with all the birthday contests and activities!
I deleted over half my gallery and moved a few others to Storage. DA had deleted almost all the comments I recieved on my pictures before 2005 so there wasn't much point to saving my older pictures uploaded here anymore since noone looks at them anymore (and frankly were becoming a bit of an eyesore to me XD). But I miss my comments!! I don't even know how long they were gone but DA has claimed me crazy in thinking the comments are gone so are not able (or willing) to help me get them back. A few of my remaining older deviations still have all their comments gone and I miss them all T.T My thanks to everyone who had commented on them in the past! I will always remember how happy going back and reading them used to make me :3

In other news, my mother bought me the new Harry Potter book today. Ironically found it while she was grocery shopping and it was already on sale so she bought it for me. My first owned HP book, I just waited and borrowed them before; I was so surprised when she showed up at my door with it but it was such a sweet gesture since she knows I read them ^^ Now I can learn the ending for myself before the internet spoils it for me. And they're charging $50 for this book... no wonder J.K. Rowling is richer than the Royal Queen of England XD

MT and I also finished watching Scrapped Princess today. We have so many anime series currently on the go... Scrapped Princess was really good though my favourite character dying was a bit of a bummer, not to mention was a big wrinkle in the smooth ending!

Working on my last few commissions. I'm still open for new ones if anyone is interested ^^ All you guys who've gotten them from me already are wonderful; I really appreciate it and send you all hugs via the internetz as a bonus! Also been making some new friendships online and getting to talk to a lot of really nice people lately; bonus for me :3
No, I'm not dead. Sometime in the near future I also plan to do a clean out of my gallery here on DA, take out some of the old stuff (even though it's my pictures with the most favourties! Surprise, surprise...) and let my newer art get a little more attention.

Other things worth noting: saw Transformers in June, it was amazing; finished watching the Japanese drama television show, Hana Yori Dango, was also amazing; saw Ratatouille the other day, also... well, you get the idea. A belated Happy Canada Day! Because few birthdays can make you prouder X3
Still enjoying my new apartment. MT and I are living very comfortably; everything we could want and money to spare. Now we just need school to start and we're set! Not much there right now but I'm still working on it! It's new, okay?!

In the meantime I've been so caught up with working on my HTML that I haven't drawn much. I keep drawing less and less! Well... I'm still working on my animations but I never seem to finish any regular pictures. It's depressing T_T I have a bunch of new characters I still need to get solid designs for! So much inspiration so why is it at those times I can never get the will to draw?! Grrrr....

I also need to buckle down and comment on people's stuff here on DeviantArt. I have a full DevWatch box because the stuff I want to comment on I just leave there to collect and fester!
Eating: Tacos.
Drinking: Chocolate milk! *thumbs up*

Hey people, it's another Kuri update! I hate seeing my front page all out of date XD

As I'm sure atleast someone has noticed, I haven't been uploading much recently. I've been drawing more than usual... and yet, no updates? What the poo? My reason being is actually that I've been working on a lot of different animation projects; so many in fact that I haven't been able to actually finish any of them! Sometimes being 'too productive' has it's downfalls. I have one that's going along pretty steadily though so who knows, maybe there'll be something to see of it in the near future!

Other things keeping me busy lately are also art-related. I've started making up a whole bunch of bookmarks using some new, old and borrowed (MT's of course) artwork. I think I've finally mastered my particular method. Okay... so I keep messing up randomly on the lamenating. Bah, homemade tassels people... obviously this makes up for my shortcomings. I've also been making a whole bunch of prints with some nice, pricey, super gloss paper. They look really nice so it makes me happy ^^

Why you ask? Well this week MT and I are attending Animaritime, our first con, first vacation and first... well, it'll be MT's first time at Crystal Palace! I can't wait, I'm all psyched to meet fellow fans, a chunk of whom live in my city and I've never met. Weird. Not to mention getting to chillax in a highclass hotel room, hit up the amusement park (rollar coaster! Yay! XD), duke it out in some laser tag, go swimming, DDR on a wall-size screen, buy some nifty new stuff, enter some gaming tournaments, attend an anime/J-pop themed rave and, hopefully, be able to sell some of my and MT's art X3 And that's the tip of the iceberg! Getting to avoid the silliness occuring that same weekend at my house is also a super bonus *thumbs up* (Involves me cleaning my room again though! So much preperation!) And for convenience sake, if we don't have time to see it before then, the giant multiplex attached to our hotel will, of course, be playing Ghost Rider! And several other movies I want to see :3 I'm starting to think three days ain't going to be enough time o_O;

Also I have finished and submitted my portfolio to the college course I wanna get into next year! Now I just need to wait to see if I get accepted T_T Cross your fingers for my friends and I, please!

And on a last note after two years I've finally reached the point where I really want to leave my job. I still love working in that hospital, the job itself is great... but a lot of the people I work with and the management... well... dear God, I need out O__o Everyday I feel like I become a more cynical, bitter, gossip-listener when I'm there and I hate it. Thank goodness for hidden corners and a good book.

My current book? Exquisite Corpses. I'm only a few chapters in and I think I can safely say it's one of the most messed up books I've read. I will certainly think ahead before reading it and trying to eat my lunch at the sametime in the near future. But I find it amazing. It's been a while since I've been so drawn into a book to the point where I'm in a daze for a good while after I finally put it down after a good hour or two. How to sum it up... hmm... a lot of drugs... a lot of grotesque violence... and lots of homoeroticism. Yeah, that should do. In fact, I do believe I need to know what happens next. Excuse me... *creeps off holding book*

Requests: Sorry, friends only >.>;

Not much new art from me as you can see, I've been working on a whole bunch of new stuff but nothing finished. I hope to have some animations up in the near future though ^^

Other reasons for lack of art has been, well, stress (slows the creative process! Or in my case, just the ability to work on something long enough to finish), and the fact MT and I finally recieved are portfolio requirements for Animation school! And only have a month to do it T_T I'm so afraid mine isn't going to be good enough. But I gotta do my best before I panic right? o.O Only one month to finish and have it handed in to office!

Other excuses include finally owning a Nintendo Wii! And Twilight Princess, which is of course, awesome. Mind you, Wii Sports seems to be taking up equal time. So addicting. Arms like noodles!

Hopefully I can get off my ass and start commenting on deviations again soon too! All my usual commentees, you're backed up in my DevWatch and I'll get to ya eventually!

Quick Kuri update! My job is still... uh, job like. Nothing much to say about that, still pulling my forty hours a week at the hospital. My freetime outside of that is now also being used a bit by a new at-home job I'm doing creating a website, and general graphic designs, for a new upcoming small business. It's definately a new challenge but I'm really enjoying the creative process involved and getting so much feedback from someone else, trying to put another person's ideas down instead of just my own. Plus it's currently paying for all my Christmas shopping!

Speaking of Christmas... it's coming! Mind you with all the endless rain we've been having here in cloudy Nova Scotia, it's hard to realize. Well... you know, until you step foot into any mall and are attacked by countless lights, decorations and carols. But I already put out Christmas tree up here XD It's helping me buckle down and get all my gifts and cards done early this year. I'm hoping to avoid the last minute panic. Yeah right. But we'll see.

Art wise... I really need to get that picture done for Aoey! What is it with kiribans that makes them so hard to finish!? XD I'll get it done eventually! Working on a few different things as usual, still happy over my last picture. Poor Gil.... I guess. Oh, and I uploaded another picture of MT's that I coloured on my Y!Gallery account. It's a new colouring style I tried. I think it looks pretty nice.... though of course I haven't been able to successfully mimic the look. *shrugs* I'll keep trying.

That's it for today! Oh.... though one last note, 'Happy Feet' was a really funny movie! And such cute baby penguins @@; And why won't Firefox show my journal background?! Grr...

DeviantART's "I'm Bored" Survey
Just answer the following questions.

1) What is your deviant-name and what does it mean?
Kurishojo. Roughly supposed to mean 'Chestnut Girl' in Japanese. It should technically be spelt Kurishoujo, or have the little dash mark over the o... I'm too lazy to put the code in for that though so, yeah, hence it's spelling >> I've been going by this for about six years now, spawned from my love of Kuririn from the 'Dragonball' series.

2) Why did you join this site?
Like so many others I followed my friends and fellow artists from... uh... was it MediaMiner or Side7? I'm pretty sure it was MediaMiner... though it's been so long I forget which came first.

3) What fandom were you obsessed with when you joined?
Hmm... I think I was more like fading from fandoms. I was slowly getting over my extreme Dragonball fandom and began branching out into a lot more other series, artists and more importantly, my own original stuff ^^

4) Were any of the fandoms you have currently brought about by this site?
Uh... I don't think so >> Online fandoms scare me a little... get sort of excessive. Besides all my fandoms and fangirlishness these days tends to be for series and characters not many know or care about XD

5) Look into your stats. What is your:
- Most Favorited Deviation: Welcome To...

- Most Viewed Deviation: Welcome To...

- Most Commented Deviation: Welcome To...

Hmm... sort of depressing really Ah well, 'tis the power of being on Messa's front page XD

6) How many watchers do you have at this moment?
103. Used to have 130 but people keep removing me XD Kuri's getting boring!

7) First ever watcher?
~shibbyshasta (Yay shibbyshasta! X3)

8) How many pageviews do you have at this moment?
16,112

9) What is your artist's title shown beneath your "status"?
Wise Ass.

10) What is your most "meaningful" work?
Meaningful? I'm not sure... Maybe my picture .Someone. I was doing a lot of thinking of people's concepts of 'weaker' people while doing that one.

11) Best COMPLETED piece you ever did?
I couldn't choose @@ My 'best', as I consider it, changes from whatever picture I like that I've finished most recently. Currently I'm still proud of my Bleach screenshots. However, the picture I've been proudest of the longest is .Fireflies. which I did years ago and still think it's one of my best to date.

12) Work that took the longest?
Uh... let's see... *sifts through gallery* ... again I don't think I can choose just one. I tend to rush through most of my pictures so none really stands out. Though I know 'Behold Our Living Room', 'Chibis Chibis More Chibis' and .A Flash of a Moment' all took me notably quite a bit of time. (All drawn from scratch in Flash)

13) DA artist who has influenced you the most?
MT! Beyond a doubt XD Though I know them in real life so MT influences me more that way than through DA. DeviantArt wise there's way too many friends and people who've influenced me in too many different ways over the years to choose.

14) What is currently the funnest thing to draw?
Quick sketchy concepts for animations.

Easiest thing to draw?
Uh... a chibi's head? XD

15) Your first ever giftart was to:
I can't recall. Though if I had to guess, not counting childhood doodles to parents, it would probably be something I did for Kitsune, be it a random doodle or finished piece. She's responsible for getting me to draw in the first place ^^

First ever giftart received was from:
I'm gonna guess Kitsune again! I still have the very first pi...

Listening To: "Deep In Your Heart" - Doumoto Kouichi
Reading: "Two Swords" - R.A. Salvatore
Watching: Various things.
Playing: DDR Extreme 2
Eating: Lots of ibuprofen?
Drinking: Chocolate milk, as per usual.

M'argh... I am so dead right now T_T I stayed home from work today based on my constant waking up sick during the night and I'm darn glad I did. Got myself a bit of a fever and the worst-most-constant-cramps-of-all-time!! Though then again... I guess every 'time of the month' tends to feel pretty bad at the time. Seriously though, I'm over medicated and overheated but can't seem to make myself take this giant comforter off me. I hope this is a one day thing -_- All you other girls at there.... yay for us.

But on the upside I got to catch up on some download watching! Lots of good stuff X3 Allow me to give some highlights of my favorites!

XXXHolic: Final Episode: I'm so depressed it's over!! I loved this series animated! Even if they had a few problems with proportions sometimes... but I suppose it would be too complicated to get to the point in XXXHolic when it really starts crossing over with Tsubasa. Best to end 'er now. But this last episode was one of my favorites. It's probably partially my hormones right now, but I almost cried... I'm so sad it's over T_T I'm in love with Watanuki's voice! It's so perfect for him! Makes me want to watch the movie again...

Ghost Hunt: 01: One of my favorite manga series animated! Woot! It definately looks good so far, sticking to the plot and characters. They changed the main character's hair style... but I guess it's to make her look less like a boy >> *thought it was a boy when first reading it published in anthology years back*

Avatar: Appa's Lost Days: To this all I have to say is... poor Appa!! Find Aang soon T_T *sniffles*

Shounen Onmyouji: 01: I can't believe it's finally out! I couldn't wait X3 Lookin' good so far! Those demons and gods are far too cool looking...

Death Note: 01-02: Seems well done so far. I was worried it would be too boring as an anime. I look forward to seeing how they spice up all the parts later in the series! So stylized @_@

Hmmm... what else non-show related? I got tons of new manga? But don't I always? XD My manga recommendation... definately "Welcome to the NHK". I liked what I saw of the anime so I read the manga... and it's hilarious! Oh, oh and the new "Saiyuki Reload" was always amazing. I was starting to get bored with the series but that got me all attached all over again. I love Hazel ^^

Kuri's adventure of the week! I spent Friday, my day off this week, making a late Thanksgiving dinner for my roommates. I think I did okay >> It wasn't anything amazing but I don't think I screwed anything up. My first cooked turkey! I was sort of surprised how easily multi-tasking cleaning house and cooking five things at once came to me. I felt all... house-wifey. It was weird. But I liked being kept so busy though, I enjoy a good day of multi-tasking ^^

Well... I think that's good for today. Me and my bed need to get re-acquainted yet again today. So tired and in pain... oi.... Oh, though one last thing. How many people can see my DA journal background? Apparently FireFox doesn't like it much. But then again I quite dislike Firefox so maybe it's spiting me? >_>;

Requests: Sorry, friends only >.>;

Mood-restricted only because apparently now with DA journals you can't pick your own, gotta be one of their little emoticons. They don't have chocolate-milk-defecient emoticons!! My mood lies! XD And yet... doesn't show up... hmm... chocolate-milk-defecient it is !!

Anywayz, haven't done a journal in a bit, thought I'd give a quick update. 'cause you know, I'm sure somebody cares ^^ And a minute of interest this may cause for any I suppose makes it worth it, ne?

Art-wise... still been pretty productive lately. I really want to try another one of those Bleach screenshots, it's fun trying to draw and color something within such style confines. Been coloring a few pictures of MT's because I always love 'em X3 Uploaded one I think turned out awesome on my Y-Gallery account because DA doesn't support the gay!

Movie-wise... never actually went to see 'The Covenant', heard it sucked though. The 'Eragon' trailer finally came out though, that makes me happy, even if I don't think it really looks at all faithful to the books >>; Still should be interesting... Uh, 'Devil May Cry 4' looks 'awesome' as well, and is getting an anime! Woot X3 All the animes I'm currently watching as continuing to be amazing... notables such as 'Ouran Host Club', 'NANA', 'Bleach' and newly added to my list, 'Black Lagoon'. Still up to my ears in new manga and artbooks, just as I like it >3

Personal-wise... hmm... well, MT and I had our first college art-class thing. My first school in almost three years! It was really fun, I miss being told what to do and never really took art seriously in highschool so it's great getting the chance to learn certain basics over again. Hopefully this will help me get better!

And I need online RP buddies... or just more peps to chat with XD I've been spending more time online lately and miss having lots of people to talk to. But it's great getting to chat with people like Jewels-chan X3 So much fun and crazy XD But I miss roleplaying! I haven't 'online' RPed in so long! How I crave it @_@ Ah well, someday I'm sure >3

My random plug of the day, Sipiyu, website of Messa's original story and artwork. 'tis spiffy and I'm having fun entertaining myself in the forums with the nice people there. The story is also neat, such interesting characters. I await the next chapter!

Reminds me how much I still want to have my own website again... oh back in the day... *drifts into nostalgia* ...anyone still remember my website 'The Chestnut Tree'? XD Oh the days of millions of hits and endless e-mails! Seems so very long ago...

Edit: Messing around with new DA journal features! It's sad how hard just putting a background was for me XD I'll probably play with it more later @@

Requests: Sorry, friends only >.>;

Upon going through my account, I fixed a few broken pictures, deleted some, moved a bunch to scraps and updated some preview images that don't work with DA's new system. Felt neat to see my old stuff again, how much I've improved and so many ways of drawing I've forgotten @@ It's nice to have the gallery all cleaned up though

Currently listening to the song 'Splash', which is rumored to be the next Bleach opening song for episodes 105+. I like it so I look forward to seeing it to a nice new shiney opening if that's the case, same with the rumored new closing. Another great anime with a super catchy opening theme, 'Jyou-Sei', one of my favorites of the many new animes popping up. Done by the same people who worked on 'Escaflowne'... with those two and 'Heat Guy J' under their belts, they've yet to disappoint me.

Well, MT and I start our part time college courses next week. Life drawing... wish me luck T_T Sad though that I've been drawing so long and this'll be my first time in a studio setting learning to draw actual people XD Hopefully a good stepping stone! Though it'll be weird being back in a school setting after so many years...

My plans for this week... 1) finish art trade and kiriban pictures, 2) finish this picture!! (been working on it for weeks now! but it's looking good X3), and 3) go see The Covenant! Friday night. The Bleach english dub has offically aired. And... it doesn't suck! The voices are actually pretty good, will take a little getting used of course, yet having watched 95 episodes in Japanese, I'm pretty biased, as will most be. Most promising, they kept all the original music and original Japanese names, including 'pronouncing them right'!! Crazy that! They don't use the word Shinigami which is kinda sad but aside from that, all other names seem to be intact.

So, yeah... I hope other people will accept it. It's not the original, but it's still good and damn it, that should be enough. You can tell effort was put into it to keep true to the original... and that means a lot to me as a fan ^^ Although... when I hear Ishida's voice, then I'll be the true judge!! Oh and Kon's is very annoying. Yeah, him and Yuzu... my only beefs so far >>;
I bought a Batman bust, a simple hollow one (it's actually a piggy-bank)... of the old animated series, Batman. I love him, and he looks really cool just sitting there with his arms crossed... but he likes to stare too much! And so disapprovingly ¬.¬

Heh, anyway, quick-Kuri update! For my birthday my Mother bought me a 27" flat-screen TV X3 So very sweet! Video games look so much more vibrant on it! And I wasted little time in buying the cords to hook up my computer and speakers to the television so now we all here can watch anime and movies from the computer on the TV. Plus surf DA... just for the novelty of our art being on TV! XD Silly I know XD

Currently I'm getting up to date on some anime watching of my own, now it's NANA, episode 17! I love this series... In minor relation I've also again managed to outshelf myself! MT and I are completely out of shelf space! But we have figurines, books and comics coming out of our asses! So the lack of space is posing a problem... we'll figure out something though I'm sure @@ I'm too organized obsessed not to! And I have atleast 20 graphic novels coming for me alone this September!! Scary, no? o_O You can see an already outdated picture of my collection in my Scraps folder for any who care... ^-^;

Really inspired recently but I'm not sure in what way. Been having a lot of good ideas but not much drive to draw or write. Hopefully it'll come out somehow eventually, I'd love to do some of either. Well, in the time meantime I'm being emotional overwhelmed by this particular episode of NANA so I bid ya all farewell XD

Requests: Sorry, friends only >.>;
Hmmm... and Ukari's as well I do believe. A happy birthday to 'em all.

Edit: And a thank you to all who wished me a happy birthday ^^ It started out not so great... but by the end I was actually happy to be celebrating twenty years of living again! And now I'm sad it's over... I'm no longer the self-proclaimed center of the universe! XD

Woke up this morning to the new DA. Crazy, no? I really like it, even if it still has a few bugs to work out. My favorite part... the last four of your newest deviations show up on your frontpage! Makes me so happy!! I can now upload more than one picture at a time without feeling sad that only one will show up on the front page ^^ More than one favorite is really neat too, show off others' stuff I love. Hyperlinks have a line under them though... I never liked that. Hopefully it's another glitch that'll be fixed.

And today I get to spend today out with my mother, who came back into the city for just this purpose!, to do some shopping and eat out in celebration of... well, obviously me. Though I wish I wasn't so tired... there was another big thunder and lightning storm last night. I can't sleep through them! They scare me T_T And we're having them every other day here now... May I hope not for much longer.

Ending notes... "V For Vendetta" was an amazing movie!; "Shadows of Rome" is still an awesome game!; go check out Messa's page to help fund her college!; and another thank you to Gemma for buying me the first season boxset of CSI! Enjoying some free house time today, for once just me, my computer, CSI reruns and chocolate milk! Woot! X3

Finally got some new artwork done, a few new pictures drawn, random sketches and all awaiting coloring. Got one up today, a birthday present for the now 19 MT. Except some more in the near future. That is... if I'm not too occupied with the Advanced House Wars going on over at Lloth's Scourge Drow Community! It's brutal XD

Movie summarization of the entry... "She's the Man", very cute and amusing... "Another Gay Movie"... hilarious!! ... "PotC: Dead Man's Chest"... too... damn... long. Game-wise... "Shadow of Rome"... awesome game! One of the best games nobody's heard of that I've played in a long time. Play it if you get the chance! And are desensitized to a lot of violence >>;

Only... uh... another week or so until my birthday. August 7, same day as DA's birthday @@ So I have a countdown to my birthday on the main page of the website XD I intend to spoil myself as usual, lots of new manga and books! Alright X3

Mood: Kinda nostalgic
Listening to: "A Little Pain" - OLIVIAinspiREIRA
Reading: "Transcendence" - R.A. Salvatore
Watching: "Superman Returns"

I know, I know... it's not April. So what's with the journal title? Well... though showers is definately something to describe life right now, literally (we're getting way too much rain this year!!), it's actually the song from Disney's Bambi O_o I'm listening to the "Disney's Greatest Hits" collection and it was probably the most nostalgic to me. I haven't watched that movie since... well, a really long time. The end of the song when the storm hits is still really scary and it's just the music this time... *nervous laughter*

I got a whole lotta manga today :3 Makes Kuri happy! Next volumes of almost all my favorite manga series I'm currently collecting! The ones I look most forward to reading are the new 'Death Note' ('cause it does kick as much butt as the hype would suggest...) and 'FY: Genbu Kaiden'! *is in love with Tomite... ...but not to Ishida levels of course* I went kinda nuts on ebay and bought myself a few neat things... I've got an X/1999 wallscroll with Kamui, Subaru, Fuma and Seisheiro coming to me in the mall! Can't wait! Finally a decent CLAMP wallscroll that isn't Chi or Sakura!! @@ Fans demand more CLAMP men!

Random Kuri recommendations of the day... newest anime I've watched: Powerpuff Girls Z. It was actually surprisingly entertaining! A lot of neat animation, very cute and colorful and a very surprisingly catchy soundtrack. Love that techno beat backgrounds! And I love how they changed their personalities to be a bit more... uh, I don't want to say indepth, but there is a bit more substance to each of 'em. Buttercup getting chased by hoards of japanese fangirls... heh. I seriously recommend atleast watching the first episode, just to say you did!

I'm in another art slump. I considered opening up requests again, but whenever I have in the past, it just gets messy. Not that I'm as well known now as I was before but still... Oh back when I did mostly all fanart, of course though my art quality was far less, the fact it was fanart meant it was doubly popular. If I do draw fanart these days, then you know I love it... or them. I have to or I have no interest in drawing characters from a manga or anime... there's enough pictures of them already! I think I'm actually going to try doing some fanart of the books I'm currently reading, R.A. Salvatore's "Demon Wars" series though... I'm currently on book five and they're so great @@ I love the characters... so indepth. But the books never got too popular since they're not Forgotten Realms related so it's hard finding others who like 'em too! Like... I know of me. That's it. I mean it, if you like fantasy, try reading them. Please. For my sake. *hugs non-existant Belli'mar Juraviel plushie* Man I love saying that name XD It's so cool! And... elfy!

*cough* So... yeah. Not much going on in the life of Kuri worth mentioning, I just felt like putting up an actual journal entry. Complete with pictures! *points to them* We have PPGZ, my wallscroll aaaaaaand... random cover image from the books I'm reading! Yup. So now I return to my meaningless existance of work, sleep and trying to find something I actually care enough about to draw! Oh joy. But seriously, I love it. Some chocolate milk would be nice though...
Yes, seriously, Kuri did find the movie so great that she makes a journal entry just to plug it. It was amazing and did such credit to the great old Christopher Reeve Superman films! I was hyped from the moment the first credits flashed at me and the chords of the themesong hit my ears. Watch it! I give high hopes you'll not be disappointed~ *continues to rekindle love of Superman*
Salvatore
Watching: "Kate and Leopold"

Happy Sunday! Oh, and Father's day, to all those Fathers out there ^^ Been a while since I've done a journal entry but for once it's mildly because lots has been going on! Well... lots of me anyway. Let's begin shall we? 'cause you all care... *snicker*

Well, firstly, MT and I are now roommates, more so than before as while we and Kagami have spent the last couple of months living together in our new apartment, MT and I have now joined our rooms together to open up space for our new apartment-occupant, Shev! Should be interesting @@ I'm still happy with how it wasn't as complicated as I thought it would be to merge our rooms together, still walking space, everything seems to fit alright and the walls are now more so wallpapered with anime, comics and artwork! Speaking of which I still wanna print out more to plaster around my bed ^.^

What else... well, work goes well. I've had solid fourty hours a week so money is good and I haven't come to hate the job yet so all goes good. This next week will be a little different as they have me working a different time schedule than usual at an independant location, outside the hospital. Atleast I'll get to sleep in... I don't have to be at work until 10am instead of 7am!

My usual movie-wise news, went to see X-Men III and was sorely disappointed. Looked good, had some great acting but I thought the story could've been written and paced so much better. To avoid having this entire journal entry turn into a review, I stop there. But what completely made up for that disappointment was "District 13", a movie I went to see with the group and it was awesome. I 'loved' it! The action scenes and chase scenes were so well done and the two main characters... well... damn. I don't usually think men are all that great but those two were so very cool

As for recent random escapades... ant killing! Argh! They came out of nowhere and they came in droves! Armies! A whole lot of ew! Mostly 'cause they've completely invaded the kitchen T_T No outside food is safe... so I went up the trusty open-on-Sundays drug store and got me from spray and traps. Which is good because I was losing sleep over over my presumed war with the bugs XD

Whoops... be right back, gotta watch the end of "Kate and Leopold". I've seen it so many times but it's always on TV... and I love this movie! Hugh Jackman and Meg Ryan are such good actors ^^ I'm a sap for certain chick flicks...

Art-wise, I've got a bunch of things on the go, which is rare for me. Usually I do one thing to completion then start something new but now I can't seem to stop starting and can't seem to start stopping @@ And I wanna do art trades! I want people to request pictures of me so I can draw some original characters! If anyone wants to do a lil' trade, do not hesitate to ask! I don't do requests though because without knowing someone's going to be working to do something for me in return, like payment or the like, I don't feel motivated enough and I probably won't do it... bad I know T_T

I think that's it for today. I might update this journal entries with some 'Featured Deviations' like I did last time, show off some art I thought was great recently... but it depends on how lazy I am later. Heh, like everything else.

Requests: Sorry, friends only >.>;
Art Trades: Sure ^^ Note me!
Salvatore
Watching: 'Hard Candy" & "The Promise"

I swear, my current song keeps changing while writing this journal 'cause every song sounds great right now for some reason. The chosen seems to fight life best recently though. And this journal entry has been in the making for way to long! I got a DA subscription! It's so much better! But I was so hyped to make a cool new journal entry now that I have said abilities... that I kept putting it off. Me and my not-so-temporary insanity...

Anyway, been getting back into a bit of an art swing. I suppose you people can tell from the fairly consistent uploads. My favorites are definately Doctor-Priest Confidentiality and Double Take! I worked really hard on both of 'em and love how they turned out X3 I was happy to see that actually going back and completely recoloring Double Take turned out that nicely; it inspires me to try it with some other older pictures too someday. Who knows! So much inspiration... but so much laziness that stands in my way O_o

As a note... 'Dearly Beloved' from Kingdom Hearts is a gorgeous song. Seriously. Oh, as is E.S. Posthumus's entire CD release. I mean, wow. I love lyricless orchestrated music... they make for such wonderful and dramatic inspirations and relaxers ("Antissa"); or hypers ("Pompeii"), depends on the song.

Recent events summarized! I've been reading a lot of books (currently all R.A. Salvatore novels because he's sucked me in completely to his world of characters!), even more manga, of which I purchased far too much of recently... and most of all, new animes. Bleach is a godly anime! Godly I say! To see a series which so many characters, overlaying plots, backstories and imaginative designs pulled off so well is not only a treat but an inspiration ^^ I've also been keeping up to date on most of the recent new anime releasals in Japan, my favorites currently being "Ouron Host Club" and "NANA". I think I'm currently in the middle of watching 14 animes... Eep. Oh and the XXXHolic movie was awesome. I was so happy with it, far more than the Tsubasa Movie, which though was very shiney, lacked length, plot and general... well, frankly I got bored.

Movie-wise, I went to see "Hard Candy" and "The Promise" with MT. Both were amazing... though for very different reasons. The first was just very unique and for what it was supposed to be, well, it was definately that. And The Promise was just beautiful to look at ^^ Geez could those men make fighting look beautiful... Now I'm currently awaiting "X-Men III" like so many others in the world!

To conclude, because goodness knows I could go on forever... I leave you with some new additions to my journals from now on. Please look and enjoy as I have! ^^

Hmm... I've been planning to put up a new journal entry for the last couple of days now but never really got around to it 'til now... and even now I'm doing so merely to have something on my frontpage change, more so than out of any real will to do so. Guess for once Lissa doesn't have much she wishes to say about herself, hmm?

Well, let's see... well, I've bought a lot of new mangas recently, mostly yaois... uh, I bought a couple new anime DVDs the other day and the next Avatar DVD! I love that animated series! One of the best animated shows to pop out of North American soil! Mind you I still have yet to watch said bought DVDs plus I'm still working on watching all my last DVD box-set purchases of Cardcaptor Sakura. Down to the last two though... the end with Eriol and such. This of course is also aside from the 82 episodes and movies from various sources and series I downloaded onto my computer in the last month in which I still need to watch. Mostly I look forward to more Bleach (Ishida!!) and the yaoi I download based on one of my favorite BL games, 'Gakuen Heaven'. Oh, and for any wondered, 'Hana Dori Yongo' (aka, Boys Over Flowers), the live action television drama airing in Japan currently, is very well done. Me and Kagami watched the first episode and damn well intend to watch more.

Other news... I've in debt? Well no, not really. Just went a little crazy at one point with my Visa and am waiting for my tax refunds to make it all better! Got my paycheck today though, and though it wasn't as large as I'd hoped (more shifts = more deductions unfortunately...), it was still pretty sizable and definately eases all lack of money. This might sound 'needy' but in actuality, I have more than enough money and the money I lack is for nothing but more random crap to stock my shelves! Speaking of which, I do need money for shelves though -_- About 300 graphic novels 50 DVDs and 25 VHSs... my last count... Three shelves is doing nothing for them and I have an obsession my stuff being neatly organized on shelves for the world to see!! Not stacked half-heartedly on the floor next to the shelves where they get stepped on ¬¬;

Art wise? Well, art is kind of lacking. I think I may go back to my laptop for a while. I love my new computer and it's amazing in everyway except being in the living room for all to use and see, it lacks any sort of privacy unless I'm home alone nor do I have the freedom to use it whenever I wish. I work a lot better if people don't watch me draw. Drawings and sketches are ugly in the beginning and I get discouraged very quickly at random stares or comments (or worsely laughter T_T ) causing me to close or just scrap half of what I start. So... as of late I've done very next to nothing... Maybe my laptop, once I blow the dust of 'er, will allow me that privacy back to atleast get some lineart done. In the meantime, my pencil, paper and me are trying to get reacquainted but recently we haven't been too close... Though I do have a fountain of picture ideas and 'want-to-dos' so atleast I don't lack inspiration.

Game-wise, I finally got a hold of Kingdom Hearts 2!! Mind you... I beat it in only four days... that includes going to work and sleeping too, duh. I don't just play four days straight... (not that I wouldn't have if I could have!). It was, as I had hoped, an amazing game, beautifully done and a blast to play (too short though...) . The plot was very well done, almost a tad too complex at times but at the sametime... simple. If anyone out there thinks the Ansem Reports are pointless 'cause they just say what other characters will eventually, you're wrong. Reading them is the entire key to the plot so I recommend doing it XD So with all worlds entirely beaten, each mission and mini-game done and almost all treasures from inventory listings found... there is only one thing about the game I couldn't beat yet... and yes, folks, it's Sephiroth. Damn him ¬¬ Though I can successfully get two life bars down... out of six... but I like knowing if in the mood I can mindlessly level up someday and kick his butt. If only to see if he and Cloud finally settle things in Kingdom Hearts... and if... other... characters come into play. (Don't want spoilers do ya?!) Oh, and I'm completely in love with the theme song by Hikari Utada this time 'round, 'Passion'... or in English, 'Sanctuary'. I loved it before owning the game and love it more so now will the gourgeous opening scenes playing in my mind to it. Such a beautif...

Anime: Last Exile
Manga: "Roadsong"
Movie: “Volcano High" (it's hookier than it sounds)
Game: Kingdom Hearts 2!
Songs: The Rent soundtrack
Food: Chocolate milk, as per usual
RP Chars: Mzryill, Coree
Mood: Reeeeeally hungry... but hyped!

First things first... I finally got a computer!! My Mom bought me one because the broken one she gave me and I tried to get fixed for the forth time flopped once again T_T But instead of a barely functioning thing I got a brand spankin' new one! And holy crap o__O; 1Gig of speed... and 200 Gigs of space! I don't know what I'm going to do with that much as of now but I know once the internet is connected to my new baby that it won't take me long to figure it out! New computer means I'll have internet at home, cable TV and a scanner! Yes, our household now has a damn good scanner ^^ And printer. You can tell I'm very happy about all this.

More hyped-ness! Kindgom Hearts 2 comes out tomorrow! Though store shelves probably won't see it 'til about the 28, says some sources. I've been waiting for yeeeeeears but it's finally going to be here! Must own and beat @@ The only thing that makes me sad is I tend to beat all video games in about three days so they never last long... however, this one should be a hell of a lot longer than the games I've been playing recently so I don't think that'll be a problem. Oh and newest game I've beaten, 'Makai Kingdom'. It was pretty entertaining, dare I say it quite addictive and Zetta is, well, forgive the complete unoriginality, but a "bad-ass freakin' overload."

What else... oh! And tomorrow lots of manga I want comes out X3 Including my CLAMP no Kisekis! New figurines! Deathnote 4! And a bunch of yaois! So much money, I'm glad I have extra saved @@

And speaking of money, I just bought the second half of the subtitled special edition Cardcaptor Sakura DVD Boxset. Once it arrives I'll have the whole thing! It was really, really hard not to buy the complete special edition X Boxset... two of them for $160 but I would've had the entire series in one go! Twelve DVDs for that when each individually costs $50! I've been wanting that series for how long?! *sighs and takes a deep breath* But atleast Kuri knows what her next big online purchase is going to be when she has money. *grins*

And in actual relevance to people other than me, 'cause I know you all cared so highly, I'm currently working on some gift art for people. Turning out nicely too o.O You guys don't know who you are, I assume, but I hope you like 'em when they're done. Some little projects to allow me to test out my new computer! Which still needs a desk... having it on the floor, well, feels very college-age student but is a killer on the back. Need more money for that too...

And in conclusion, I need more shifts at work! One paycheck with 80 hours on it like I used to work, only now with my raise, would be about $640! That's with deductions already taken off! One paycheck like that and my money problems towards buying way too much would be over ^__^ The only big upside about not trying to go to AnimeNorth this year... more stuff! Maybe next year -.-

And in actual conclusion, byez ^-^

Yes you read the title! (most likely anyway) I have new artwork to upload! So much in fact, since I finally got a hold of a scanner and scanned my entire sketchbook... that I will be forcing myself to upload them a few at a time. Please take the time to look at them, I worked extra hard on these ones T_T New art styles, new coloring techniques... and... dear goodness... a little bit of time and patience! Instead of just trying to get done as many as possible at once. But it still didn't stop me from finishing most of 'em way too quickly -_-; There's also a few tossed in scraps too that just didn't make the cut. Ah well, so please enjoy and remember Kuri likes favorites and appreciates how many she always gets but likes comment just as much! If not more >.>;;

Long time no write! Sort of. Where to start on the summarized days of Kuri... or Lissa... whichever I go by to you. Condensed, my last while has been mild-work complications, a bunch of new characters, seen some movies, played some games and many pictures drawn and due to several circumstances, none uploaded!! Argh! Which you can see has been proving a bit taxing on my nerves. I have so much done, so many sketches I had drawn I want to scan and CG but something always gets in my way >_< But I was recently able to get 'em scanned so once I can transfer 'em to my laptop (because I unfortunately have no scanner of my own), then watch out! Finally some decent, somewhat consistent uploads! Well, as consistent as I can be with the limited online time I get due to the public hospital computers being the only DA time I get for about half an hour each weekday I'm actually scheduled... *sigh*

Anyway, that aside... let's start with something a tad interesting to those who care. Most recent movie I've gone to see in theatres was Underworld 2: Evolution. Like the first movie I found it's strongest aspects where in it's looks, all the characters (especially the lead of course!) look great in their roles; clothes, effects, the overall mood, you got it. But like the first movie the plot was rather lacking... though this one far worse I found... there was so much off with it and rushed and lots of aspects that would've made great plots in themselves but were not touched upon half as much as they should've been. And, well, the blood, violence and sex, most of which was completely unnecessary, left the theatre laughing by the end. And no, this movie was not in anyway supposed to be funny... Other movie I saw, 'Brokeback Mountain'... it was, uh, well, disappointing. From all the rave reviews, I was hoping for a lot more out of it but I guess it just wasn't my kind of movie. Ah well, I'm atleast happy for it's success so hopefully more movies like that will be accepted mainstream.

Let's see... game wise, I'm currently working on beating 'Prince of Persia 3: The Two Thrones'... an amazing game, like it's two predecessors! The 'evil prince' in this third game cracks me up and I find myself playing merely for his sarcastic, composed if not definately witty commentary. Plus the prince himself, ever the sarcastic pessimist, keeps me just as entertained. And come on, the movements and battle system are still some of the most interesting out there. The Prince could put Batman and Spiderman in their places when it comes to wall climbing that's for damn sure. MT and I still continue our Soul Calibur III addiction to often dangerous degrees due to its greatness and I'm marvelling over how much I enjoyed playing and beating 'Resident Evil 4'. Problem with good games like these is it only takes me about three to four days of afterwork time to beat 'em so the initial greatness doesn't last long...

Work complications... well, they've stopped giving me the same five days every week and now randomly give me only 3-4 shifts. Does not make me happy... but I still have enough to pay rent and groceries with a tad left over for meeself so all is still well. I hope it doesn't get any worse or else I'll need to look for another job and I still love this one so much! Working at a hospital doing what I do doesn't strike me as something I'd ever like but the independence of it and the enviroment is just really nice to me. Here's hoping... until something else amazing pops up anyway.

Hmm... it's been since December 16 since a journal entry... well, in even quicker summary, Christmas sucked. New Years, aside from me getting ill most of the night and having work the next morning, wasn't too bad. Thank goodness for my friends, whom I consider my 'truer' family... in all ways that count minus DNA obviously. You people know who you are...

Oh, and 'Y: The Last Man', a comic about the last man on Earth (to put it simply) is a great read... get to see the creator's idea of what the world would be like if every man, save one and his pet monkey, were to suddenly fall over dead. And the manga 'Petshop of Horrors' is my new manga addictio and I must have more! I adore the Count... I want another friend to read it so I actually have someone to talk to about it >< It's so creepy and messed up but not without it's humor and inneudo to...

Kuri's Currents
Manga: "Antique Bakery" (vol.2)
Books: The Inheritance Trilogy
Movie: “Chronicles of Narnia: TLTWATW"
Game: Kingdom Hearts II!!
Songs: The soundtrack to 'Rent'
Food: Two-bite brownies, chocolate milk and barbeque burritos!
RP Chars: Mzryill, Lillith, Ellywae, Dern
Mood: Painfully bored... but still oddly happy

I want Kingdom Hearts II! Gah! So many more months to wait for its releasal but Kuri wants it now! I just looked at the new releasals of information and pictures and it just keeps looking better. New to the mix is Chicken Little as a character, amazing how fast they incorperate stuff in there. I can't wait to play and see all those amazing characters! Including the cast of FX and FX-2, Mulan and Pirates of the Carribean. Steamboat Mickey's cast weirds me out but I think is going to be very inventively done ^^ If you're interested in pics and info, here is definately the place to look for it.

Now what... oh yeah, two newest movies me and the girls... okay + Kenny... went to see; 'Rent' and 'The Chronicles of Narnia'. 'Rent' was amazing... an awesome, and freakishly catchy, soundtrack with even more amazing dance numbers to go with them. A warning of caution though... you will cry! If not... then... well, I guess I just think it's neat someone without a soul is reading my journal entry. Kidding of course, but still, it's definately very sad. The whole theatre's attempted hiding of the sniffles and tears could attest to that. Yes, ours included. 'Chronciles of Narnia' was also very well done. It was definately a visual treat, I think everything in that regard was done very well. It seemed a little choppy pacing-wise to me but then again so were the books to an extent so it worked. Overall, two thumbs up from me on both of 'em and I recommend seeing them if you have the chance. 'Bewitched' was surprisingly good too by the way... my most recent not-in-theatres watch at home. Next on our list, 'Memoirs of a Geisha'.

What else... hmm... well, Christmas is fast approaching. I still don't have presents for everybody! Then again I also had to wait for payday like so many others @@ Fortunately a little accidently Christmas bonus is going to go a long way for me... thank goodness for that. It doesn't look like we'll be getting a tree this year... which does depress me but money must be saved where it can be. I'm still going to atleast buy a wreath or something for us to put the presents under and to give our place atleast some Christmas spirit. Though spirit-wise, though not terribly festive, my Onimusha 3 promotional stand-up is lookin' pretty nice ^-^

Whoops, gotta go for now, break time's up. I'll probably continue on from here my next break X3 'ta 'til then.

Edit: This is Kuri back on another break! Having just finished reading, 'Eldest', the second book in the Inheritance trilogy, I feel the need to point out not only their greatness but my ultra-hype towards the fact that the first book is being made into a movie!! *wants to see now* Fortunately for my rattled nerves, it's due to come out in theatres 2006, already pushed back from it's original release date of 2005. MT and I now have something else to scope out the movie listings for! Damn you MT and you getting me all addicted and such to books that totally deserve it! I still can't believe the author wrote these when he was 19... same age as me... it's so inspiring.

I finally got a computer! *chokes on own happiness* Okay, mind you, it's not the best in the world as it's kinda slow... but fortunately that is the only problem. It's XP, 40gigs and can run the scanner and printer I just need to pick up from my Mom's house to go with it X3 Wahaha! Now all I need is internet! INTERNET! We're a little low on money right now due to rent and Christmas though so I doubt I'll get it as soon as I'd like but now is closer than it was before! And we also need a computer desk... anyone got a spare? As great as having it on the floor to live the true 'just-left-your-parents' house' experience is....

But that aside, let's see... what else... oh! My friends and I went to see the new Harry Potter movie in Imax last week. It was awesome! Tons cut from the book, some sad like getting to see that damned-annoying journalist get what's coming, but I think they left in all which was most important. The end I think was the most well done. I won't lie, like so many others I became a little... glassy-eyed. From the pressure of people's tenseness due to the drama alone though I'm sure... ¬¬; I'm aware that makes no sense. It was sad, yes, sad enough for that. Quite well dramatized. Though next on my to-see list is most definately 'The Chronicles of Narnia'! Tomorrow! I still want to see 'Rent' too... then 'Memoirs of a Geisha', 'Underworld II' and so many others! More like several, but many works too.

Summarizing Kagami's journal... yes, we're having our annual Christmas/New Years' Party again. This year at our own place! Finally! So, yeah, all who are invited you know who you are. If not then you're crazy and should come in contact with one of us for confirmation. Bring whatever food, money, entertainment and bedding you think necessary. We still having endless anime, manga, computer and a hell of a lot of games to aid in the entertaining but a little more never hurts! I hope to have a Christmas tree bought and put up by then too... the house is so... not Christmas without one. Or atleast a wreath.

Well I'd go on further but I'm already out too long for my break and I wouldn't want to get in trouble or have this damned pager on my belt go off and scare the shit out of me. I'd go into details as to my working days but as I clean up surgery rooms after baby delivery and gynecology, I'm pretty sure nobody wants to hear it >>; So... yup, maybe this will be added to out of boredom on my next break. And I can continue working down my Watch list of deviations... I finally got below 300!

'til then... uh... ... ...nope, got no catchy finisher today so this is going to have to do.

Amazing how ultimately emotionally devestating thoughts can become at times, leaving a person contemplating the strangest of things and wishing for the strength to commit to them. Fortunately despite hormonal imbalances and continuing onsets of depression, logic still manages to hold all neccessary boundaries on my mind to cease continuation of such endeavours. Fed up with life and unsure with where I am, where I'm going or where I want to go and in the meantime feeling like the lonliest person in the world while still able to be surrounded by friends. I also, my friends, call this particular extremity that time of the month, currently abound with fevers and bouts of sickness leaving me as physically incapastitated as mentally.

On the computer front, for those who wish an update, I am still without a computer with internet access, as has been my state for almost two years now. Scary huh? Yes, I do believe so. I survive now off the occassional venture online at the library and hospital where I make visits of half an hour stretch as long as I can. Currently I'm trying to get through about three months of messages piled up in my inbox. For those random people who contributed to the 23 random favorites on pictures dating back from 2003... well, uh... thanks? I still don't quite understand how you keep finding me and those particular pictures at random but it's definately interesting. Remember though, comments tend to be a little more meaningful than a favorite. Takes a little longer to read too so the entertainment value is automatically increased.

I've got a few pictures done and ready to upload. The key is finding a way to transfer them from my laptop to an internet ready computer. The moment I get free internet access I want to reopen my art trade lines and begin drawing for others again. I miss it, even the stress of trying to do some before I feel too guilty for the wait. Even the odd request, depending on my mood at the time of said internet-having. I also have a large Flash project I've been working on with MT that I hope to have done sometime in the near future. I hope people can watch and enjoy it as much as I'm having fun making it. Still working on actual animation though. Someday. Need to get a completely Flash-capable computer first as well however. Need money for that though. Lacking in it. So who knows whenever these things will ever happen.

Well my time on this computer is running low, best to just press the Add button on this journal to post it before this thing logs me out and I'm thrown into a homicidal rage over the simple loss of this typed up update-drivel. May these be more frequent in the near future and with something more interesting to read. Maybe a review on that new Harry Potter movie. I think I might go see it after work tomorrow, sneak over quick before the little kiddies get out of school. I'd rather go alone than face those kinds of crowds with friends. God knows they'll be a crowd. But, that aside, we'll see so until things are seen, said and done, later days, adeiu and something else that means goodbye without actual use of the word in direct context.

Anime-esque: Final Fantasy: Advent Children
Movie: “Domino"
Game: Bust a Move 2
Songs: Subject to Change (CD) – Vanessa Mae
Food: Cambell's Chicken noodle soup
Mood: *shrugs*

Again, my time here is short but, never the less, I feel too much of a need to update all those who I've dillusioned myself into thinking care about random recent events of my life... with this journal. Like how this fruitfly keeps trying to fly into my chicken noodle soup and it's driving me insane! I'm only one person, I can't be expected to think, type and protect my soup at the sametime. So, yeah, lets get this... uh... party started.

Speaking of party, or atleast I'll get to it eventually, Kagami, MT and I are finally moving out into our own place! Well in two weeks anyway. We hope to have a big house-warming/Halloween party afterwards so those who we hope to be there should know who they are! Guests and location are all we have planned right now though so don't ask for details quite yet...

In the entertainment scene, Kagami, MT, Kenny all watched two great movies this week. First, we all watched Advent Children! Finally! Because Kenny, being great as he is, has it on DVD! And is giving us copies X3 It was amazing! I for one never actually played the game but I know the story and characters despite that. The fight scenes were awesome and I already wanna watch it again! So shiny and beautiful and CGed... all on the comforts of the TV! It was worth waiting... what? Two years for it? Something like that. Another fantastic movie was 'Domino', a new one in theatres that we had free sneak-peek passes to yesterday. It was weird, depressing at some parts, really cool at others, definately not a-bring-your-kids-for-any-reason movie but overall, I atleast, was very impressed. It... how do you say it, kicked much ass.

Oh and my current obsession? Drows. They were cool and amazing before but now I've gotten myself completely hooked on R.A. Salvatore's many series starring the scary yet infinitely intriguing Underdark-lings. This includes the incredibly well done comic series of his Drizzt series, starting with 'Homeland'. I adore the artist @@ Perfect for the story being told. My current novel series is 'War of the Spider Queen' and I highly recommend it! Drows a plenty! And for a change, no Drizzt. And Phauran's mine... I call some sort of character-who-doesn't-exist hold on him. He's so... so... witty and smart and... dickly in a way that still hasn't gotten him eaten or killed (though very close). Moving along...

Other addiction, 'Bust A Move 2'. I can't explain it... it's just... destressing... and highly addictive, like many games of it's type.

Well this is it. Hopefully next time I get the computer I can upload some new artwork! I want my own computer and full internet access again sooooooo badly! God... someday soon though hopefully and Kuri will return to the web in full force! Watch out DA and my watchlist I haven't been able to fully clear of it's 500+ messages I found last week! Ahem, adeiu.
It's me! And in continuation of my "I'm Not Dead" title, well, this is like being dead. This is my first time on the computer to sign into DA and actually do something past press the login button in 37 days! Yes I counted! I don't have computer access anymore so hence the complete lack of anything new... and me commenting on any stuff. Someday hopefully I'll have the chance to get through the 300+ messages in my box now! Deviations mostly mind you but I hope to get through them comments and all someday! I'd start now but I am, alas, using the public library computers which seem quite unfond of DA in general.

Speaking of which, I now have a blinking screen telling me this site is illegal, the page is being screenshoted for later review and I'm being logged out. Hmm... figures. Heh, well, this plan to get the computer also died but heck, if this journal upload actually works, then I guess it wasn't all in vain, right?

Quite update! I have a great new job working at the children's hospital, MT, Kagami and I are moving out to our own place as of November 1st and... uh... I've decided that I really like collecting artbooks? Hmm... and I need to draw more! Or in general... lack of internet for some reason has affected my will drastically. Anyway, gotta go, the guy next to me on the compuer is looking at some very disturbed stuff. *feels need to vomit*

... to me. Yup, I'm as of now, nineteen. Legally old enough to do most things... woo-ha >> A birthday wish out to Ukari too, who I now offically knows via her own mouth, shares my birthday. Oh and DA too I suppose.

Oh, and if the 700+ favorites weren't enough to draw your attention to it, this is a Flash I highly recommend watching. Watch out though, high creepy factor.
It's currently 4:18am... uh... Wednesday... I'm currently sitting on the computer, partially watching the first Harry Potter movie. I'm not sure why... it just happens to be what's currently playing. This will be the third time I've watched this particular part of this particular movie in this particular week. *sighs* Ah well, better than the repeated viewing of the Fern Gully sequel. So... very... bad... worse so than I even remember it. The voices, ruined personalities, altered art style and horrible song additions! aka, a really, crappy, classic sequel.

Anyway, today, or I should say yesterday's, big event... escorting and seeing off MT and Gemma to their highschool prom! The celebratory action organized to represent the offical completion of twelve years in the public school system! Yay! They both looked amazing, for any who were wondering ^^ I was so proud... *sniffle* ... then again 'that time of the month' may have attributed to the attempted waterworks my eyes tried on me while I was leaving. Anyway, the two of them should be done their prom in about half an hour... marking a full ten-hour long party! Then in the glory of school scheduling, must be back at their respected schools by 10am for graduation rehersal on, if they're lucky, 2-3 hours of sleep. Or none... if I know some people... But, in those half-conscious states, perhaps the rehersing will go more smoothly >>;

More movie news! This week's movie, 'Howl's Moving Castle'! It was so great X3 I was infinitly impressed and wish I could see it again! Which I will eventually... when I own it on DVD! Waha! I want to watch it in it's original japanese dialouge really bad! The dub voices weren't completely horrible but I'm still curious. Howl was such an... interesting fellow. Oh, and added note which I believe I neglected to say before, I also went to see 'Steamboy', the new anime film by the maker of 'Akira' in theatres a little while back and it too was very good. A movie that unfortunately will not be so great watching if not in the theatres but oh well, was still fun. So many more movies to see now that anime is no longer top theatre priority! Comic book heros are the next thing!

Things to expect in the future from me, a few flash animations. Yup, went back to trying out a few things and I'm practicing with basic 2D frame by frame animation. It takes so long! But the results are so much clearer and more fluent. I look forward to much more continued learning in the future! And music videos X3

Hmm... and now... being almost 5am... tired but still not wanting to sleep... perhaps I can persuade Kagami to walk over to Tim Horton's and get a whip cream covered cup of hot chocolate with... *ponders this* 'til next time, I bid thee all good sleep... and the like. @@

Firstly, while doing my usual browse through today's Top Favorited Deviations, I came across this Flash animation, The Whispering Moon. It was simple but beautiful and I was totally sucked into it. I recommend watching it... though with warning to any currently experiencing emotional difficulties including depressed moods, ease of crying or PMS... the video is known to cause sniffling, crying, awwing and possible bursts of appreciation for having loved ones near you. You have been warned.

Also on my small list of nifty stuff seen today, the teaser trailer for the Christmas movie, 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Warddrobe.' I'd always wondered if they were going to redo it... and they finally did ^^ And the trailer looks sooooo good o_O I can't wait to watch it! I was such a fan of the books and the old movies and this new one looks like it did the story and characters wonderful justice. Plus the video was all hyped and stuff so how could I not be sucked in? Just search for it on Google until you find Disney's site for it then navigate around the Flash 'til you find it ^^ 'tis worth it. Oh, and if you've the time, you might want to check out the trailer for 'Howl's Moving Castle' too. Comes out in four days and I can't wait! so many good movies this summer @@

On the note of good movies, 'Apocalyptica' has a lot of really neat sounding songs. Okay, so that's in no way related to movies but it still seemed like a note-worthy thing. And since I'm now on the topic of totally random stuff, it's so nice looking outside! So much sunshine... and leaves! I didn't even notice them sprouting or growing and yet here they are, changing Halifax to again be a green, leafy covered city. Definately better than all that rain we were having... even though it's due to continue today -_-

Watcher's of me may have noticed that I completed several new pictures recently. I'm on a roll X3 May it continue! And hopefully in a way that allows me to actually get my to-do list done! Mind you, once it's empty, I fully intend to fill it up again with new art trades and kiribans... but still, having the old ones cleared would be nice.

And... despite having all this will to write up a journal entry... I've now gotten lazy and decided I don't want to continue one anymore. So, yeah. Oh well, what I most wanted was to suggest watching those two things and I did so...so mission accomplished. Now I will await DA to catch up with itself and let my new pictures show up on my frontpage! And a hug via cyberspace to my loved one far in the hell-like depths of the public school system! Soon you and your fellow prisoners will be free!
