I haven't posted a DA in forever, if I do, it usually goes into scraps since I never really finish.
I guess what I'm saying is, I'm going to look once in a while because I get really inspired by everyone's art but I won't really comment anymore. I don't feel comfortable giving a critique even when asked for (I stopped a while ago but I just figured I'd say it out loud here) and just saying 'great pic' really doesn't do much for the artist. Also, usually critiquers have some sort of big gallery to support why they have the eye for it...mine is small and gives me no right to suggest changes on someones hard work. Plus everyone on my favorites list has so many watchers who comment. So if anyone doesn't like lurkers, just let me know and I can take you off my watch list or something.
I wish I drew and painted more often, but it comes in spurts and sometimes I can force myself but then it just feels so...well, forced. Not fun. Then there is grad school to deal with, which is about to start again. Perhaps if my schedule was different then I would be more likely to draw, but full time work and full time school pretty much puts me out of commission for a while. That's when some art seems forced. I draw more often than it seems but it's nothing worth sharing or bothering to post. I tend to draw what I see which often means boring faces and not much imagination. I think that's why the work by many artists here inspires me so much, because I wonder, 'how did they come up with that!?'
Anyway, to wrap up this post...
I guess, if anyone is reading this...and has read this far, I will draw something for you. Do a commission or kiriban or whatever it's called. Just be the first to comment. Perhaps then it will start my fire up again before school starts.
Thanks for reading,

I finally caught up with all my devs. I had over 100! I tried to comment on as many as I could. Everyone is really busy at drawing and CGing, thanks for that. It took me a few days but I saw so much cool stuff.
I need to learn more emoticon thingies...the obligatory is boring.

Hey look here is a batman!

I've been wanting to paint so badly, I have one started but have not had a chance to work on it. I should take a picture of it so I can show the progress. Hopefully I can do some this weekend. It's just when I do have free time (with school it's rare) I just want to veg or decompress.
But my gallery is getting so old...I need something new.

Which reminds me, I need to
I will be out of town this weekend and will try and work on something and scan it in ASAP...then I will hand it off to someone else.
I hope this is fun!

Earlier post...
Would any of you who read this journal, be interested in being part of a art project...thing.
Like what if I start a CG (or pencil sketch) and then upload the file to my scraps. Then the next person assigned will then add to it in some form and then upload it to their scraps..and it goes all the way around till we create this hodge podge of everyones art!
Perhaps we could have a time limit, where the person whose turn it is has only a few days to work on it, we aren't looking for perfection but something fun to keep the drawing going...

Anyone interested? I wish this could be an announcement or something, I know some people don't read journals so this may be a teeny tiny group, if that.

I found my old Tori drawing (a scan of it) I did for Freddy a couple of years ago...I only have a closeup posted here
[link]

But now I remember why I did the closeup...so you can see the detail of course but yikes. The rest of it is terrible! I saw it and laughed at how bad it was, and how obvious all the mistakes were...that I didn't notice at the time...big huge proportion differences. And I gave that as a gift! Would I have made the same mistakes now? I have other drawings from way back when that aren't as bad as that...or so I hope!
Just imagine if I actually tried to focus on drawings and stuff, I would improve so much faster and be that much better. But instead I just slack and imagine things I might draw someday. Okay, so I have a lot of other things going on, soon school will be added to that, but still. I guess it's just not a priority right now, I don't think it ever has been.

Also, as in the last post of my journal (almost 1 month ago exactly) I mentioned that I was just really impressed and inspired by the portrait art people are posting. And I really think that's one of the reasons I've grown, seeing their use of shadow or light, their detail work and how even tiny details can add so much to your work.
I mean you can see the differences in my Charlize (which looks nothing like her)
[link]
and my John Bonham
[link]
The shading is better and it actually kinda looks like him and yes, there is still plenty of room for improvement but overall it's much more...improved.

...um...that's all.

I feel like such a bum since I haven't posted anything in a very long time. I actually worked on my very old John B. picture last night...it's almost done, or at least for the effort I want to put into it. I'll probably tweek it a little more. I want to move on to something else but know I should finish him. It's okay, but I can see the flaws. I'll try and post it tonight.
Also, I have a painting I should post. Perhaps tonight too.

My cousin gave me all kinds of movie magazines so I'm sure I can find something out of that...actually, Norah Jones is next on my list, hopefully I can do her some justice (if you never see a norah jones from me...you know it's because I didn't do her justice at all).

Hours ago I stood in front of 'The Starry Night' by Vincent Van Gogh. I starred until my eyes watered...I couldn't take enough in.

I was 1 inch away (my nose almost pressed to the glass) from the painting " The Persistance of Memory". (Dali must not have a very big memory considering his painting was so small).

Monet's "Water Lilies" filled an entire area and made me see what he saw.

Henri Rousseau´s "The Dream" was also amazing.
[link]

I stood in front of various Picassos, Matisses, Warhol, Lichtenstein, and Oldenburg.

One of my favorites was Umberto Boccioni "Unique Forms of Continuity in Space" It was so beautiful, [link]
created in 1913.

Another of my favorites, which even surprised me was Gustav Klimt "Hope II", it was beautiful and the link I found of it do it no justice, it was big and beautiful. Here is a link: [link]

Danny and I went to the Museum of Modern Art in Houston, they have the New York collection there.
We got there around 1pm...and left at 6:30pm. I couldn't get enough...and I wish we could go back tomorrow for more. I can't imagine seeing all those pieces...for only $12.50...it's almost funny.

I wonder why I draw...
Freddy asked me why I started and I didn't know the answer...I told him "I just did".
Did I start because of my brother (he's pretty good)?
Did something click one day?
I just remember thinking my brother had drawn something and I thought...I can do that too...and I did.
I remember my first major thing I did (which feels like moments ago) was a portrait of Julia Roberts with short hair. I was so proud. I have that at my mom's house somewhere...I wonder if I look at it now will I be bummed cause it's pretty bad hee hee

But why draw?
I notice that I put it down and I pick it back up...but even if I went to art school (which was my first choice), what would of happened? So I can draw a little, big deal, so can a kajillion other people (just look at the size of DeviantArt!).
Yes I want to develop and become better...but why?
I was just wondering...pondering.
I don't take it for granted that's for sure...never. Like I said, I was just pondering.
