Anyways I dont know if any of you all are from this region, but we have the annual quilt show coming up and it's quite a big deal. Eleanor burns comes down and everything, So i've been buisy preparing for that.

I do have new things to post (mostly quilts, embroideries, and purses) and i will have somehting up by the end of the week.... maybe even today if i'm lucky.

And again, i'm sorry for the inactivity hopefully this LBM competition *Kallastyos is putting on will get me started drawing again.

We are hoping for a girl. Maybe with brown hair.... or red, we really arn't that particular. Most likely she'll have brown eyes. Both captain and the cats think it would be best if she stays small, but you never know really how they will grow up.

We know it's going to be tough, and we really arent looking forward to potty training, but right now is ideal with captain working nights and me working days, someone will always be home to let her out when she needs to go.

So if you all have any suggestions as to what kind of breed house trains and gets along with strangers well, we would love to have your input.

P.S. Sorry i've been away so long, but i do promice to have some new things posted within the next month.... probably alot of quilts, but that is what ive been doing mostly.

Having finished the 7th harry potter book, I am at a loss as to what to read next. The local library doesn't have a recommended reading list so I'm hoping you all can help.

What are some good books to read? If it is a series then please list them in order, or atleast the name of the 1st book.

He waited for me to get home from work, we had a check up appointment to see if his medicine was working. He died as I picked him up to put his harness on. It was messy and scary and sad all at the same time.

The vet said he had heart disease, some big word that i haven't been able to remember, but there was nothing that we could have done.

He would have been 6 August 1st.

Design Requirements: Inspired by the fact that Eregon is absolutly HORRID and it's makers should die a thousand times for producing such a horrid movie, a thousand more for makeing us all watch it with the high hopes of it being as good or close or even jsut kind of like the book. they really shouldn't have named it eregn because except for naming everyone the same as the book the rest is completly different. HOnestly what is up with Gallabatorex? SHeesh! anyways.

This dress to be exact [link] . You can change it any way you want, however... The best design(s) will actually be made. I have to alter that dress because the top is too big, so i thought we could have some fun with this and make it more.... flattering. SO with that in mind IF you want me to be able to create it these are the rules:

> I have about 1 yard lefftover of the velvet, so that means either the bodice can be completly redone or the sleeves but not both.

> I have NONE of the peach fabric left over, and while i can get more, i dont have the money.

> It MUST have sleeves.

> The waist line can only go up or down about 3 inches before it is too small.

> Currently the hem hits about mid calf, it can only be shortned to just above the knees.

> The neckline really can't go any lower or wider without an undershirt being worn.

> Lastly, There is a zipper in the back, and if i have to remove/replace it the Back side of the bodice will have to be replaced, velvet is NOT forgiving of pin holes. So, leave the zpper alone or commpletly change the back.

Alright, so those are the things it has to have for me to wear it. Um, the back looks like the front, only the neckline is higher. The waist band isn't a waist band really, it ties in the back and is not sewn down.

oh and i was tagged by Ceazar a while back so i figured i aught to do this. 6 strange things about me i think is what it was.

1. Stress dreams for me are ALWAYS either being back in school, or floating fish that i cant keep in the fish tank.

2. I like to sleep on my back with my right arm over my face (it protects it from cold cat noses) unless i am sick and then i sleep on my belly.

3. The reason i dont always sleep on my belly is because it promotes droolage which is gross.

4. I avoid taking showers as much as i can. For some reason i really hate them... i think it's because they make me feel fat.

5. My cat is confused, he's so fat i had to get him a dog collar and he's so messy he lives in a rabbit hutch, and soon he will be drinking out of a ferrit waer bottle.

6. Yesterday i made a "golden snitch" cake for my Dad's 46th birthday.

And i tag noone because.... well... i'm just lame like that.... honestly look at how long this took me to even post!! can you imagine how it would be if for some reason i was tagged again... yea i'm not taking that risk.

Design Requirements:
Postmodern is an extremly difficult word to define, and is something much better to see. As i understand it post modern is taking ideas from the past, striping them of their context, and using them now. I could give lots of examples like Andy Warhol, but just go here [link] and read more about it. Your assignment is to create a postmodern design. The easiest way to do this will be to take two different time periods that have conflicting social and political views and try to combine the dress (like the 50's and late 60's) But, you can intrepret this however you like.

Rendering Suggestions:
Use a mixed medium, such as markers and crayons or watercolor and computer, to try to help illustrate this postmodern idea.

Design Requirements:
For this challenge you will be required to create an evening gown that has had too much candy to eat. Think about how kids look after trick-or-treating and go with that. The garment itself must look like it is sickly sweet from all the candy not the model.

Rendering Suggestions:
Cjrogers1993's [link] and several others are some very unique photoshop manupliations. For this challenge try to illustrate in greyscale with maybe one or two colors to get a similiar effect. you can either make the garment in greyscale, or do the entire picture that way with the model and everything.

This must be 100% orignal, which means NO ANIME CHARACTERS OR MOVIE CHARACTERS unless you significalntly change their outfit. So your best bet is to go with generic characters like cobowys, pirates, or nurses. These costumes should be highly detailed. Nothing that you could get at a walmart. If you needd some good examples take a look at Ladylucrezia 's page, because she has excellent details.

Suggested Rendering:
Becaut of all the details, i'd like to have fashion flats to go with these. So draw your pretty colored stylezed figure but have front/back flats to show all the details.

Design Requirements:
(source [link] ) Halloween's orignins come from ancient Druid / celtic fire festivals for Samhain. Go to the website if you want to read more, but this week Our design will will be a MEN'S READY-TO-WEAR inspired by these origins. This should be something that can be mass produced, but still creative and innovative.. you need to incorprate some of the elemenets from the origin of halloween in your garments AND you need to EXPLAIN how it works in your description. And If you have time do some really cool socks

OH.... And We are going to throw another hitch in this, you CANNOT use either black or orange in this contest. (except in your lineart)

Rendering Suggestions:
This week we are going for realism, try to make you model as anatomically correct as possible, even if you have to trace a photograph. You can still as always work you style into this, but try to be realistic.

A NOTE ON SCANNING:
As i have enjoyed viewing all of your designs, i have noticed a common problem that you have. When you submit your images to deviant art they should not be so big as that the viewer needs to scroll right. Not unless you have an enormous ammount of detail. I dont have that much detail and i dont know many that do aside from photographers and painters. SO You all need to not submit such big images for one design. (not everyone is diong this so dont be offended if you aren't.) What happens is people wind up viewing them in the small mode which is really too small to see anything well. But the large mode is too big to see the whole image at once. See the problem? So if you would please all keep your images small enough just to not scroll around very much when viewing them that would be great. THANKS!

ß This is an inclusive event; open to all who wish to participate.

ß If submitting a deviation, you must also include in your deviation description that is for this competition...( hrm this thing still needs a name).... A link to the journal entry in which the challenge belongs to will help.

ß No fashion designer or artist will be discriminated, but failure to comply with 02 will result in no thumbnail appearance in the journal.

ß Max of two (2) designs PER TOPIC, per member. No more please.

ß Entries must be NEW submissions to deviant art. This challenge is about pushing limits, so don't submit previously done material even if it fits the criteria.

ß Feel free to incorporate your style into these designs.

ß These are fashion designs, do not use non-human figures, unless I tell you to design for a monkey. But other than that, you cannot/should not designs on a skeletal figure of anything other than human.

Critiquing Etiquette

The following are categories that are things people can critique. When critiquing typically it is good manners to point out 2 positive aspects of the garment for every 1 negative aspect you point out. This is to keep people from bashing, plus most people really are proud of their designs. Not all designers in this competition are at the same level but they all are trying their best.

ß Creativity/ Innovation: How new is this design? Is it something you could find in a store? or is it a fresh perspective?

ß Function ability: Can this garment be worn? How do you put it on? Can you walk, dance or whatever needs to be done in it?

ß Challenge Interpretation: Does the design follow the rules of the current challenge? Does it follow the terms? or is this just a really random design?

ß Improvement: How much is this artist improving? (please do NOT compare the drawing to anyone else’s, mostly this is to see if the artist is improving over his or her previous designs)

ß Fabrication Rendering: Does the fabric look like it is supposed to behave? Does it flow with the body?

ß Anatomy: Does the body look real. Keep in mind that these are fashion designs so they are usually slightly out of proportion on purpose... usually elongated, HOWEVER anatomy still is an issue. Breasts never stick past your rib cage from a flat front view, knees are in the center of the legs, hands come to mid thigh, legs are 2/3's of the body ... things like that.

ß Fashion Forward: Is it edgy, and trendy? Something likeable.. this is not the same as innovation, it is more of a feel and less of a construction issue. This is the most vague category , so don’t be hard on the designers with it.

The first was a lord of the rings knock off where the badguy made the land in eternal dusk and the goodguys were so excited to get out of it. and there are hobits and humans just like LoR in it and i really didn't like it one bit but i wish i could remember the name

the second set was much better, and i actually believe it was by 2 authors writing togehter. It was sicence fantasy set of 7 books and in the first one ( i think.. it may not be first) there was this offly designed world where everything floated and the drawves were at the bottom and they did all the work while the people higher up got the benifits. there was something about makeing a machine come alive too, and our hero guy who can't remember his life helps them out somehow. The whole series is about this races of people who have torn the world apart and the only way to travel though it is with ships that go through this black hole sort of place and there are 7 or so worlds that are different elements, the first one was air. on the waterworld the hero gets into trouble. OH! and the hero has an old magic guy that follows him around and is really tall (honestly the things i remember) The fireworld is insiide out (think of it as a hollow marbel where the land is on the inside of the sphere and the stars are in the center.) and there are big monsters that chase them here and we meet a badguy, or come to terms with bad guys. Anyway in the end the guy winds up in the pretty world made out of crystal but then somhow decides to go back into this maze to look for the one he loves this really killer maze that the people who split the worlds apart created. and then there is a big war in the maze and the hero remembers his parents here.

The outfits were supposed to be for it because we are trying to dress like pioneers.
And i'm feeling uncreative.. i thought i had a good idea, but when i drew it it kinda looked... well not ver pazazzy. All of you all who read this should very pretty please go look and make some constructive critism so that it can be better, or thrown out and started anew. this is the link [link]

On a different note i was told that they are spelt Croquis, and i have several in my scraps section that you all can use. My people tend to be more rounded than the average fashion model, but i like them. I'm way excited. The B&C guy has 2 used ones, a babylock that I may beable to get for $500-$600 (typically 1400) and a bernina for 300 (typically 1400) the Babylock is very nice, and barleyused. The bernina is older and been used, but is good condition. I have to talk with my husband first to see which one we can afford.
