hey, just so y'all know, I'm phasing out the traditional art I have on this site. I think it is too confusing for non-DA folks to find my paintings, and with painting being my major, i felt they should have a place of their own. So now they do, and the DA name artiwaz was born. [link]

it's going to take me a while to get things transferred, so patience please.

peace,
tiwaz

So it's been about a month since school let out, a little less but meh. Apparently my current interest is photography, specifically nature, and even more specifically birds. So i've been down along the river taking photos, having a lot of fun and developing a relationship with Big Blue, the heron. I set up some bird feeders here at the house and so far i've seen a multitude of house sparrows, a few chipping sparrows, one male and one female house finch, and a female ruby throated hummingbird. oh, and my favorite: a nuthatch. *love* that little guy. So here are some river pics, and you'll get to see the bird feeder pics soon enough.

peace.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

so i think this week is doable. I mean, i'm at the point now that i am pretty sure i will finish everything. I have two final projects left to finish, one for encaustics and one for watercolor. I have a pretty good start on the encaustics one, no clue what i am going to do for the one in watercolor. In oil i will just have to do whatever touch ups scott tells me to do, but i think i am pretty good with those paintings. Oh, and i have an exam in art history, i'll have to do some studying for that i suppose.

yes! and with all this spare time on my hands, i spent a couple of hours last night going on a favoriting spree here! yay! portraits and horse photos! and i would have liked to have spent a few more hours... but may 2nd i'll have some free time and get back to this obsession.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

so... april as a painting major... its like nothing ive ever experienced. well, ive experienced similar i guess, just not in a studio setting. I mean, i've been busy with homework, papers, and tests... but i guess i know how to deal with those. It's all these paintings i have to do in around two and a half weeks... they frighten me. But yes, i will finish them. i made tremendous headway today. Check out my scraps and see the two oil paintings... ive only done the underpainting, but i feel soo much better. ive started anyway, i have a plan, i have something to work from. see how hopeful i am?

but i really got in the painting zone today, it was flowing from my brain down to my fingertips, electricity baby. and i'll be finished with this paper (im almost done, but alas i cannot seem to work on it right now) and i can start getting dirty with the paint.

good luck and prosperous use of time to all who are in studio classes this month.

PEACE

I am so ready for xmas break... and next semester is going to be a lot of fun... I'm taking encaustics! yippee! I've wanted to take this class since before i was accepted into the program... and it worked out. Sometimes life hands you what you are hoping for.
Yay for getting up at 6am every morning!

I am on Summer Vacation... yes, it's capitalized... Currently working on remodelling a garage into a bedroom/livingroom for myself. Yes, soon I'll be living with my mom. le sigh.

So far as artistic endeavors this summer, i've been trying to do gesture drawings of cows. Yup. Cows. So far i'm not ready to post anything to do with that, so you'll have to wait for it. Other than drawing, I've been taking photographs at various events, my nieces birthday and the zoo so far. Going to a horseshow tomorrow so should have some pics from that...

I've been focusing on Kingdom of Loathing (Tiwaz in game), trying to get in 2 and 3 day ascensions, hopefully will be able to pull of a 1 day-er before it's too late (June 25 -- NS13 is nigh!)... so that takes up a lot of the time i could be spending on art. le sigh.
