We've more or less had a week left to our own devices but now I have to get on with my Uni work. I haven't been terribly active here (MW2 may have something to do with that also...) but I really need to get stuck into my work now and set aside pretty much everything else.

I've also decided to make a few lifestyle changes which include the following;

1) Swear less. Honestly, some days I swear more than a drill sergeant and this is NOT good. I need to better myself in this respect.

2) Eat normally and healthily. I'm limiting myself to sushi a lot of the time (small portions). I don't often eat much, but I need the energy if I want to concentrate on my work.

3) I need to keep an eye on my bank balance and stop going to see crap films like 2012.

4) Take one day at a time and don't worry about the future. Things will pan out the way they are supposed to.

5) Read more books and spend less time in front of the computer. Especially since I do a lot of CG work, it's nice to take a break from a screen.

Also I apologise to anyone who have sent me notes that I haven't replied to (yet). Notes regarding commissions etc: I will let you know when I am open for them again. At the moment I don't have the time. Sorry.

My blog will be updated with sketches but I'd like to limit my Uni work on there and save that for the book I'm making, sort of like a surprise. This weeks goals: Get into Google Sketchup and start working more on environments, etc.

It'd be fairly story-driven so I'll probably design it as an RPG. I won't go into too much detail but I have a few things planned in my head that I'm going to get on paper soon. It'll also open peoples eyes a bit, I hope.

On the same note, watch 'The age of stupid' if you haven't already done so. I really enjoyed it, and it just goes to show how ignorant we as humans are when it comes to consumption, and that happiness doesn't come from the latest gadgets. I'm really glad I watched it.

Anyway I have to go into uni and finish my project by 4pm. O.o I'm also being taught how to drive tonight, wheeee! D: dundunduuun.

The thing I find hilarious about this is that the internal structure of the Washington monument in Fallout 3 is the way it is because it's supposed to fit in with the 50's art style. In reality, the monument is made out of stone.

City design also differed. Washington, DC, for example, looks similar in terms of placement and design, but has some noticeable changes. Much of the pre-war contemporary architecture is 1940s/'50s art deco & 1950s/'60s modernist. The National Mall is smaller and narrower, the Washington Monument is made of a wooden skeleton instead of masonry stones

Do any of you guys use blogs? I find it a bit easier to use than here in all honesty - DA has turned into a bit of a popularity rat race whereas on blogspot I feel okay even uploading some crappy sketches knowing it's like a personal development diary.

Something perhaps....Vegas-y?

Seriously they announced New Vegas in like, FEBRUARY or something. I've even been checking J.E Sawyer's twitter for little tidbits of info but they're being quiet about the lot (although Obsidian's twitter mentioned they are eager to talk about it).

Been trying to play Fallout 2 lately and I love it but why oh fucking why did I go to San Fransisco ON A LEVEL 5 CHARACTER. Honestly don't do what I do and head down the bottom of the map early on unless you like the idea of swearing profusely at the screen every ten seconds you get a random encounter.

In other news Uni is fine, doing a flash project at the moment. Our room is better but the heating system on our campus dies in the ass because the powers that be can't turn off the damn air conditioning in a small room during autumn. Seriously, it's warmer OUTSIDE. I prefer our new room though...I can actually hear myself talk compared to last year. Great idea stuffing 2 years worth of animation/design students in a room designed to fit half that capacity.

Been quite busy the past few days. And tired, I went to bed at 10pm last night...which is REALLY odd for me. I've also not played Fallout in a few days due to tiredness...which is perhaps even more odd. D:

Well, apart from bills, rent...and generally being a poor-ass student that has to live on marrowfat peas (those delicious bastards).

First of all there's a party at my place tomorrow (yay!) then we're heading out to a Drum & Bass gig in town, then I'm moving all my gear back to my student place and I should have the internet back on tuesday. LET THE PORN FLOW (hi mum).

Feeling pretty chipper despite being knackered. Hope everyone is good? Once I'm settled back in my cesspit I'll get back to arting. I've been on a roll recently and enjoyed drawing more than I have for a while, which is good. Glad to be shot of 2D animation too (no offense, just wasn't for me), I'm going into concept art for my final year. Oooh, shiny.

I'm also working on a side-project with someone from afar so my blog will be updated with work I've done for that. For the moment I can only explain it as a small game in development. I've even got my own login as the game's designer on the site, which is cool. Either way it's keeping me in the art zone and I'll let you know when I'm allowed to give out more info.

All I've made is a vault for Fallout (Vault 74, part of the online tutorial Bethesda put online). It's likely I'll use the GECK for character and weapon modification rather than adding in-game locations.

Player home in Rivet City which can be bought for 5000 caps-ish, has pretty much everything a player needs - food storage, drink fridges, double bed, huge armoury for you to keep your weapons and armour safe, etc.

The capital wasteland in all it's post-nuclear high-rez glory. Note that you may need to install FO3 somewhere other than program files to use this (PF won't let you tamper with in-game textures, as far as I know). I tried it once, then re-installed to this location to play the DLC through GFWL. But it's still a very nice mod.

Yes, I draw (not as often nowdays) anthro characters, one you clearly know best is the red and black fox character I have. I grew up playing games like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Ratchet and Clank and so on (infact she was largely inspired by the style of this game). I also always found it easier to draw animals because I've had trouble with human anatomy and human faces, though going to life drawing classes has helped me improve this a great deal over the years.

'Lawzy' was a name given to me by my classmates in high school, my circle of friends had nicknames similar to this, and it stuck. I ended up calling my character Lawzy because it seemed to suit her, NOT because she represents me in any sense at all. She does not, thus she is not a 'fursona'. I don't have one. Her personality does not mirror my own...she was created purely for my own entertainment and inspired by aforementioned games. You wouldn't call the Naughty Dog team furries for creating a game that consists largely of anthro characters.

Since practicing human anatomy in University and by studying it in photographs and real life, I've drawn less anthro because I favour drawing humans.

I don't know the ultimate definition of 'furry' but here's how I interpret it:

Anthro = Animals and inanimate objects which are merged with human features and characteristics.

Furry = Somebody who represents themselves as an animal, generally online (fursonas).

Regardless I have no problem with furry art or fursonas and of course, anyone who draws them, but it's not the case that if somebody has an anthro character or enjoys drawing them for fun, should instantly be classed as a furry.

I don't dress up in costumes (...to be honest I've never quite understood it...) just because I have one character based off an animal heavily inspired by games I played in my youth. And I've never attended any conventions. But likewise I don't have a problem with anyone who does, because it's none of my business and everyone is different.

If I could go back I'd pursue my interests in other fields more. I loved science classes and had pretty high marks in tests and essays, but I also dicked around too much. I suppose when you're a kid you don't appreciate what's in front of you and embrace it fully. I'm still bilingual but I've noticed my Welsh-speaking slip a bit and I want to learn more to strengthen it.

Heh I actually realized this because I'd gotten a message from someone on the Bethesda forums who's also a fluent Welsh speaker, it was refreshing to speak in another language for a change!

According to ~geraintthomas we go back to Uni on the 28th of September. I can't wait because I'll finally be doing work leaning more towards the concept art/illustration side of things. I've got a lot of drawings on the go at the moment, a couple of which might take a while because I'm learning some new tricks to do a good job of them.

I'll be back on my feet soon, today's been horrible...I've been really sick. currently on my laptop in bed after being sent here by my family. I haven't felt this bad in years.
