I'm looking forward to having tons of time to myself to just experiment and have fun doing all sorts of stuff. This hopefully means trying out some new stuff with paint and canvas, getting my drawing skills back up to speed, and taking my camera off of my dresser and putting it to good use.

In the meantime, check out my new portfolio I've put together since going to college. The internet is hard to keep up but keep an eye out for me and I'll do my best to please. :] If anyone's interested in trades or collabs or what have you, hit me up because that's just the kind of inspiration I could use.

A week from this Saturday, I'll be in St. Louis for the fall NSPA national high school journalism convention. I'll be presenting on practical tips for high school photojournalists. I think my session is called "Photography: What No One Told You" or something along those lines.

I was just going to these conventions myself just as recent as last spring, so to suddenly be a presenter is...ridiculous! I'll also be judging the yearbook copy and captions write-off contest.

For my presentation, I'm using my own photography....if there are any shots or anything that you think I should definitely, no-ifs-ands-or-buts about it include, hit me up! Also, any advice that you think I should pass on to the younglings will be very much appreciated. I do have to fill up 45 minutes, which shouldn't be hard for someone who likes to talk so much, but you never know....

I'm also missing a really fabulous party to do so, so.....ahhhh! Wish me luck!

So, I also finally picked up my new MacBook...and it's so UGLY and silver. I need to dress it up!!! If I don't, I get the feeling that the world will end.

So, what do you guys suggest? (I know you all have computers - at least I assume so.) I'm thinking of going the traditional hipster route and getting a ton of stickers, as well as perhaps taping some things on there that I can switch in and out.

On the last day of camp, though, my own, teensy little camera malfunctioned when I took it out of my pocket....luckily, it was under warranty so I will definitely be getting a new one to replace it, or having this one fixed. The only question now is WHEN that will happen.

I also have a GIGANTIC back-up of messages and things...like it happens any time you go on vacation. Will be getting to that....and so forth and so on...

I'm also going to the beach next week, but I have to give back the DSLR I've been borrowing from school, because the newspaper kids' JCamp is happening the same week.

I was really excited to be taking some awesome beach photos, might not happen now....hmmm. Am definitely going to be getting my hands on the family camera, though, so hopefully I'll have SOMETHING to share when I get back from that.

The whole week so far has been pretty surreal...this weekend (yesterday, actually) I was visiting colleges and then heard the news about Virginia Tech as it unfolded. I'm sure most of you (at least those living in the US) know all about it...it was especially scary because a lot of the seniors at my school last year went off to VT, I know a bunch of them and some are even in the ENGINEERING program - really scary. The shooter himself also comes from my general area....unfortunately I was nowhere near a computer until late, but thankfully, everyone I know is okay.

There's not really that much more I can say about it.

In other news...I have a whole bunch of new photos to upload, from my school's Cultural Festival performances and a few other random things as well. I try to accentuate the positive.

I swear I just spend the longest time in my bathroom using the bright lights in order to...take pictures of pictures. We'll see how they turned out, because I really do want to share my film stuff with you guys (especially since some of it is coming out awfully good).

Eventually, I think I may just have to spend some quality time after school just to use one of the yearbook scanners - this isn't hard to do, just time consuming and a hassle to remember. Call me lazy!

In other news...I watched 'The Return of the Jedi' last night on HBO (or one of those channels) and in the very last scene, when Luke (who is such a girly man, btws) sees Obi Wan and Yoda's ghosts...they added in Hayden Christenson/Anakin! Hilarious! I don't know why I find it so funny, but I do. So who was there before? Darth Vader?

My scanner has decided to uninstall itself. Normally this wouldn't be an issue but I've shot some pretty sweet (in my amateur opinion at least) black and white photography for the class ~oolive and I are taking in school, and I want to share it with you.

Plus, I also try to draw every now and then, but it's actually really hard to pick up a pencil and get back into the groove after so many weeks of not doing it. But that's not a new discovery.

I was trying to work more on this one sketch, and I was trying to draw a hand.....AND I COULDN'T. And it was actually quite scary.

One Life to Live is also scaring me today with Rex's dream sequence. Stacy I know you watch Passions but this is where I get my kicks.

10 Things About My Art (A Meme)

1. In elementary school I was practically the only white chick in a group of Asians. We started drawing trading cards together. We liked Sailor Moon.

2. I always start drawing the face first and work top-down, and I only started drawing those skeleton-outlines in the past couple of years.

When I started with the outlines I would try to jump all over the place -like- skipping to drawing a hand before the arms, and that ended up in a lot of misproportioned stuff. Ewww.

3. Whenever I don't know what to draw, I turn to Sei and/or Timmy, even if he ends up being the one you guys see the least.

4. I own 4 Prismacolor markers ftw

5. Learning how to use a graphics tablet in 6th grade was HARD. It still works today which is just sweet.

6. When I save gifts and stuff on my computer, it goes under the 'My Art' folder (my own actual art is further divided up inside that folder). Years ago, I accidentally saved one of Mimi's (from the reality check oekaki) in my own folder, and my Dad was having me show a friend of his my art, and they thought it was mine and complimented me on it and I was so embarrased I couldn't even point out the mistake.

I still feel guilty about it.

7. Not too long ago I decided to practice drawing girls and the female anatomy, because even though I am one I never draw any. It's just not fun. The next week I said 'screw that' and decided to keep working on something more stylistic and less picky.

8. I love to create characters but picking names for them is HARD. The other hardest part? Designing hair. ICK.

9. I don't like inking pictures AT ALL. Because my sketches are so messy, I always end up going over the wrong lines and things.

I wish I had a lightbox or something.

10. I draw too small and beacuse of this it's hard to color. SOMEONE MAKE MARKERS WITH EVEN SMALLER TIPS PLZ KTHNX

Well not really. But yea.

So you know what that means?

That means the hard drive had to be replaced and all the programs have to be reinstalled and stuff and stuff but its ok because Dad backed up my files and everything vital to my survival is saved and I really hope I dont have to load up all the fonts I downloaded again but I probably have to but oh well thats ok because I have those saved too mhmm and I think I may have lost my buddy list too but thats ok because I dont talk to half of those people anyway so its no big deal and elizabeths getting a new screenname anyway but dad says he might get something new and I hope it's not that trillian program because I dont like it nope not at all its too confusing for me.
but this is all still frustrating nonetheless because of course the scanner and so on is not hooked up and i have a poster due tomorrow and all the work is done but I CANT PRINT ANYTHING OUT OH NOES and Dad's not home from work yet and uh oh its already 6 o clock oi vey.

Ok so here's the deal - my subscription is up in a number of DAYS. And I don't want that to happen - kapeesh? So I'm really looking for someone to commission me via a DA subscription. It really makes my life that much easier.

So how does this sound for basics - a 1-month subscription gets you an 1-character inked picture, plus detail and shading and all that good stuff. *_* These usually come out really nice and I can get them done faster.

A 3-month subscription gets you something colored with 1 or more characters. Takes longer but can turn out a lot nicer.

1-year subscription??? O_O Wow, that's like the whole shebang. I'm willing to draw several (maybe up to 4-5?) pictures with various degrees of detail if you're willing to go that far.

Those are just what I had in mind, but if you're interested and want to negotiate, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE. My, er, life is in your hands.

I feel like such a loser making a desperate plea for help, don't fail me now.

But I do have some art done, and maybe I can get some up this weekend.

Anyways, here is the dilemma:

I need to create a design for myself. Whenever I draw myself, I look too plain and nondescript. I'm not complaining, I just have run out of ideas. So, I have decided to harness all the creative energy of YOU, my friends and have you help me design something.

So what's in it for you? Prizes, of course.

I will be picking the two/three designs that I like the most and will be drawing requests for those lucky folks. So put some thought into those entries!

Here are some rules/guidelines/ideas that might be good to read:
-Please note that I am a GIRL. Thanks.
-It would be good if your drawing were in color, but if they're not I won't kill you.
-This isn't a competition for how well you can draw, this is all about the ideas. If you have an idea, please show it to me!
-Detail is always good, but don't worry too much about it. IE: Don't spend three nights crosshatching and texturing your entry.
-If you can fit something in with a design of a turtle on it, you might get some bonus points.
-As for my hair, I have a TON of trouble drawing it. If you can do something cool with it(but not...too out there, if you know what I mean), that would be AWESOME.
-My favorite color is green. However, I don't dress COMPLETELY in green.
-Don't worry about eye colorm, but if you want to know, my eyes are blue-green.
-Uber-revealing clothes are not exactly my cup of tea.
-I have some drawings of me with my hair up, but as of now I wear it down.

Deadline for entries: August 21st. This may be extended. You can submit more than one entry,but only one can win a prize. If you think/know that you're not going to be able to turn your entry in by the deadline, please do tell me!

To submit your entry, please note me! I dunno if I was clear about this before, but I just wanna make sure I see it, 'tis all. Wouldn't be fair otherwise.
