WOOHOO! I don't even know what I'm going to do for everything yet Tis the season I suppose.
Working then on Christmas prezzies, and homework, with this semester coming to a close. Also did some clay models, got a commission out of it- and another one on the way! Ought to be a fun one.
I'm dog-sitting this coming week, so might take some nice pet portraits and post them up (woe alliteration).
Considering exercise options for the (oncoming) winter months... I was thinking about doing some (indoor) wall climbing, as a cool and relatively affordable alternative to the gym. Also, I started biking (this fall ) and found a nice fund raising trek (not a race)going on in the spring. It looks like great fun, but the smallest distance to bike is 25 miles- and the most I've done so far is 10.5 miles! Of course, the roads I bike are quite hilly, so that should count for some extra. I'd like to practice biking all winter (with those lil indoor set ups where you ground the bike, so it's like using your own bike as one of those gym bike machines). Indoor biking is not so exciting, but if I put a fun movie on (Hello Planet Earth!) or some tunes I'm sure I'll get over it.

But of course, now is the time for HALLOWEEN!! I didn't dress up last year because I didn't quite find an event to go to, but this year I found out our school is having a Halloween shindig (fer costumes)so I'm going. Plus, there's a concert (music) and you get cheaper admission if you dress up So I'm there too! SO during my last anthropology class I whipped up a full out costume sketch, went to Jo-Anne fabrics (well, that was AFTER class And seriously, is that not the greatest store ever?) and having but hitting it full tilt ever since then. I'm so excited about it because I love dressing up! Well, dressing up for silly, not dressing up serious of course...
I love cats and usually dress up as the 'goth black cat', but I've already done that a couple times so I decided I needed to put some variation on it. Lions and tigers are a bit over done...but, since I've been going crazy with our new mascot design at school, I thought- why not a lynx? And I've been going crazy on it since then. I don't feel whiny enough to say "Well FINALLLYYYYYY", but- I am glad spring is here. Cabin fever was really starting to eat at me and it IS ever so nice to go outside with only ONE jacket on. Today I went for a walk down the train tracks, and stopped to look around. The birds were everywhere singing so loudly. And I saw, for my first time, bluebirds- 6 or 7 of them! They are quite small (bigger than a junco, smaller than a robin). Beautiful birds they were, and wonderful singers. And I saw a handful of my favorite birds flying low-- the turkey vultures A good birding day...

In other news, my art exhibit at the college is doing well. I've sold some pieces and finished my first commission. I had a small interview as well, about creating the school's mascot. As far as school CLASSES are going...well, I do seem to be sludging through some mid-semester slacking...it's weird. I'll go through phases of 'hard core into stuff', then phases of 'bleh. I dont care'--- similar to 'Gee, I know procrastinated but I still thought I'd have enough time to do that'. Oddly, even in my 'bleh' mode (now) I'm STILL doing better than most people in my classes. I guess I must be an efficient slacker of sorts. Still, wouldn't kill me to get my act together.....
Slack or not, I'm glad to be in school. I got so much going for me, and it makes my brain feel crazy to consider it all sometimes, but I so much to be thankful for. I go bonkers tryin to do everything at once and practically slit my wrists with guilt-blades if I (heaven FORBID) have to put down one thing to pick up another. Dramatic skull of mine!! Sometimes I just gotta step back (breathe) and remember that life is all about phases and that change happens. And it's not always bad, even if you didn't plan on things going the way they did.

For the summer, I've been working jumping on an internship for bird studies in Alaska. I'll be gone May-Aug. I'm super psyched, wonderful countryside and I've never been-- but the place I'm staying is quite secluded (no computer or even snail mail!). I'll definitely miss my friends back home, but I take comfort in the fact that, in the event of the dead reanimating, I'll (literally) be in a better place.

Just set up my art gallery at the college library the other day, as a month long exhibit. It's received quite a few warm welcomes already and I've even sold a few things. Quite happy about that. Went to a local wildlife center for a bird banding class today...and I was the only one there! The naturalist let me do practically everything (capture/ bag the birds, measure wing/tail/beak length, weigh them, and let them go). So cool!!!! And there was a newspaper guy there ("Union Leader", for all you peeps representin NH Prob in the next week or so)

The NHTI deal is going well. I've been going through a process of designing a mascot for my college and it looks like it's really going to happen!! My design was passed to the digital peeps and next is approval then merchandising galore!!! Honestly, our old mascot was the state capital building. Definitely puts a damper on cheering for your school teams

In art news, working away on clay models. Ever since the giraffe incident ([link]) I've been obsessed with this new sculpture stuff. Working on some b-day prezzies now....

Does anyone else think this has been the fastest Christmas season ever???? Good golly.... Anyhoo- just finished a bookmark project for the school and another project (and fuzzy ) from on the way. School's also almost over. Literally. As in, my LAST final tomorrow! My schedule for next semester is all set as well- can't wait, but glad for a break inbetween. Need some time to cram in endless CHRISTMAS PREZZIE-MAKING!!!! (I cant wait to post s. I've had it for about EVER!! Also super psyched for Christmas EVE PAR-TAY!!!!

ANyhow...

So yes, back to real life. This Friday is Halloween, and I have no plans. Kinda makes me sad, remembering all the childish fun and excitement of past ones. Bummer. Been kinda slump-y overall lately. Like walking through mud and wondering where you're even going. Maybe it's mid-semester blues or winter on it's way. Even karate's been absent in my mind. Whatever it is, I'm working on getting over it.

In the realm of art, still working on the logo (Lynx) for my college, and that's going well. Also making some fun Christmas prezzies for the family. Been doing some pencil sketches (something I havent done in AWHILE). It actually gave my flashbacks of high school, when I was big into that (sketching). I've missed it, it got me through alot.

Been dreaming too. Trying to work them all out. Most of the time they make sense, but are way heavy on the symbolism. Like, if you weren't me you'd have to be an English teacher to appreciate them.

SO- blah-ness aside, things are good. I just feel like I've been losing interest in things, namely working out I suppose. But, things come around. As far as school goes plant bio is really interesting lately and philosophy's been great too (debate central. Sometimes I think we should hold that class in an octagon. lol). Met some good friends because of that class too(which also resulted in going to see Rise Against I might add).

So needless to say it was loud. There wasn't much moshing where we were, simply because there was no ROOM to. Packed!!! Lots of bobbing, and head flingin'. And crowd surfing. On my head So good....and then Rise Against came on. And then Tim (lead singer) came over to us, singing away--THEN shoving in the mob! Shove shove- me shove back. Mob central. Totally sweet. THANKS Gaslight, Trice, A. Trio and RISE AGAINST Great show!!!!

Karate's been non-stop and I'll had to cut back a little. The demonstration team is ultimate fun, and we have our last show (for awhile anyway, we'll go through a revamp period soon after) is tomorrow. Ought to be blast. Fun fun city

Started my fall semester and despite missing my first class (which I also did last semester...and the one before...ok, and the one before that. I don't know how I manage these things) all is looking good- this should be a real fun row of classes. I'm taking sports psychology, finite math (ok, that's no fun), philosophy, and plant biology. Also- our college just voted on a new mascot (the Lynx) but we don't have a drawing/ icon for it yet. I appraoched our campus activity director and he gave me the first shot at drawing the school's new mascot! Today I showed him the pencil sketches, for basic stance, pose of the lynx and he was really pleased. Now the drawings are going to run across the school board and I'll meet up with the director again, and a group of students to see where this may go. I'm really thrilled to have such an opportunity We'll see what happens-

I started a ju jitsu class not too long ago and I'm startin' to get the hang of it. It's a slower process, compared to the kempo so it can be frusterating, but there's much to learn- just keep an open mind and don't give up! I also just had ear surgery (due to the ju jitsu) so that's finally taken care of. I was nervous to go, but it really wasn't a huge deal. My cousin and my Sensei even went with me, which was really nice. I learned a good deal I didn't know about hemotomas and such. SO, can finally stop worrying about that.
Been doing quite a bit of acyrlics as x-mas prezzies. Yeah, it seems early but A) x-mas always shows up too fast and B)I feel like painting, damn it!

Taking a ceramics class now for school (college). Though we meet on Friday, there aren't any classes till that day but about 1/2 the class still show up and have become ceramic factories. Today I made a bunch of mugs and bowls and busted out a ton of little bunny, birdie, and fishy molds on them. Anytime, in our class, you use the corny Bambi-type molds you become accused of indulging in the 'woodland fantasy'. And today I was the queen.
I have a months worth of stuff but we're doing a final critique of EVERYTHING Friday-- so it will all come home on one day and, naturally, show up here.
I've now inspired myself to get into more bead-making. There's just so much to do, with beads and ceramics (and art) in general.

Today is June 27th, which means 1st Sanbornton Farmer's market of the year!!! I'm so excited Our town's is small, but there's still alot to buy. We have a maple shop, chicken pies, fish, veggies, goat soap and fabulous cookies I can't wait! I've actually started my own veggie garden too. It's not very big, but I wanted to at least see if anything would grow first before I went all crazy-giant garden. I'm growing peas, beets and carrots. And jalapenos. They have all sprouted so I planted a second row of them (except carrots. I looked everywhere but all stores are sold out of carrots and most other kinds of seed. I guess everyone's doin it Harvest-Moon style this year).

But on the bright, I'm goin' on a fabulous trip to Costa Rica in less than a month and that will be quite awesome. It's a class from school of us going: a nature trek, of hiking, cloud forests, ziplining, butterflys and just enjoying wonderful outdoors.
I want more art. More painting and sculpture. Drawing too, while I'm at it. I love it so much, but it's easy to get wrapped up in the daily things- and I don't even have a lot going on. Enough bitching- it's time for action

Time is zinging beyond mega fast these days. Is not so bad except for the whole college factor easy to get behind in homework and stuffs. But- my art life has been alright, picked up a bit. Doing an art trade helped me get myself pumpin out more ceramics and improving my form. Hoping to do necklaces soon too (and to post as well, of course )
Karate is just smashing lately. I'm moving up rank so my finishes are going from "kick them" to "get them in a rear naked choke" Totally sweet. And- our first show is coming up, so I'm pumped for that. They're saving my act as the last bit so I feel all special...much love to the karate. So, jewlerys on the way and still more ceramics coming soon!!!

Yea! Christmas is just around the corner and since most all my gift shopping is done it's wrapping time. I love seeing all my friends and family of Christmas Eve and giving away prezzies!!!!!! I can't WAIT!!!

I've been taking pictures, and started drawing and painting again (after bout a year break. total bummer). Nothing chills me out better than kickin on some tunes, lighting the incense and, drawing for hours and hours *chilled just thinking about it* It's great having DA for all this too because checkin out other people's work gets me thinking all sorts of different ideas for shots.
