‘Here be monsters’ was once written on maps, by cartographers of old, to describe an uncharted and therefore unfathomable area of unknown.

Science and nature and fiction make possible the belief that there are other worlds than these. Hallucination, deep space, the imagination, other places at other times, other reals and possibilities- monsters exist.

There are holes in reality where the monsters creep in.
The imagined bite and chew their way into existence and our world only to find that they cannot survive here…
lidlewing pulls them through but cannot save them for at the moment of their creation they are precariously on the verge of extinction. A hybrid species of animal/plant/toy that can only be collected, documented, preserved, and exhibited as specimens of things that 'almost' were.

Here, fantasy suffers and dies like the rest of us. ]]>
