While he didn't have a big impact on my life, he certainly did have an impact on a lot of people - and for that, he should be mourned. He died doing what he loved, and that's all any of us can ask for.

There's something to be said for doing what you love - and something all of us should strive for.

In other news, I'm studying for the last half of my A+ cert. Yay.

The commission I had been working on for the last two weeks got corrupted. Two weeks of work down the toliet. Needless to say, I was mildly peeved. Okay, I was really pissed. Ever since I upgraded to version IX.5 of Painter, it has given me nothing but issues. Rahr!!!

There are also People who have insulted and slighted the man I love. They will learn to rue that error.

Yay! Another commission done for Stefan Happ! Whatta good customer he is...

Passed my first portion of my A+ certification, working on the other half. If you don't hear from me in a while, that would be why - I'm a studyin' fool.

On the other hand, I have finally found a kick-ass magazine that every aspiring sci-fi/fantasy artist should look at : Imagine FX. It costs me $15 per issue at Barnes and Noble but it is worth every penny. Every time I look through the mag, I'm going "ooh, gotta try that," "ooh, that's neat, I need to go to that artist's website," "wow, that looks like some nifty software," "hey, that's a great idea" - I literally have to force myself to not run to the computer and try stuff.

Oh, and it comes with a DVD full of trials, stock photos, tutorials and other nifty goodies, as well as a full poster of the cover art.

...Did I mention it was cool yet?

In my RPG life, I've got my Forgotten Realms campaign that I run tomorrow a-aaaand I've got a homebrew setting I'm working on for a Fantasy Grounds campaign.

And a major marketing promotion at work kicks off next week, which means I will be dead for the next three month. Oy. I will need frequent and :coffee: to make it, methinks.

Wow...I haven't posted in a while, now have I???

Been working on some commissions, been working on my NPC Stat Block Bank, can't wait for freakin' spring!!

Got a nice bonus from work at the beginning of the month. Really nice. So nice, I was able to get a color laser printer. Okidata C3200n. Very very nice output.

After I finished this here pic, I decided to order a print for myself. I figured what the heck, I'll get the Lustre print...hey, a gallery frame would be sweet! Click click click...Okay ordered, nice.

About a week later, I get a HUGE FREAKING BOX with all the prints that I ordered in it. Started to unpack everything and all nice n' shiny, in a shiny aluminum frame was my pic. The quality of those lustre prints are stunning. There were so nice, I didn't realize the work was my own.

To give you an idea of how big this is gotten, the Department of Homeland Security is wagging their finger at DRM technology providers, and MICROSOFT is working to provide a fix to this blatant breath of customer faith by Sony-BMG. If you don't want to potentially subject your computer to a slew of security issues, don't buy Sony-BMG CDs. If you think the business practices that were employed by Sony-BMG are questionable, don't buy Sony-BMG CDs. You, as a consumer, have power over these companies. Hit them where they will pay attention - the bottom line.

If customer is king, then Sony has committed treason.
(Not my statement, but a good one none-the-less.)

Another good statement:
Sony never should've placed the rootkit on their discs to begin with. Now viruses exist just to utilize the rootkit and create problems. Then they makes statements that are inane in this situation. If I were their PR firm, I'd be looking for someone's head right now. Sony displayed incredible ineptitude in this situation and it may have cost them a lot of record sales. I know it cost them mine and I will encourage people to do the same. - John Stith

Once again, Sacred has sucked in some of my free time. It's just a FUN game - no stress, no mess, just a large can of whoop-ass. Several cases, in fact. Oh, and so has Guild Wars. It's just a pretty game...

In other "artsy" news, finally got a chance to play around with Painter 9. The last time I used Painter, it was version 7, and it was horribly frustrating. I just about tore my hair out. Chug Chug Chug, "ooo - lookee, part of what I drew", chug chug chug...ad infinitum. (And no, my system isn't that old.)

For anyone who's given up on Painter - give 9 a try. It's insanely responsive, and you really get the sensation of using the actual tools. The UI is much better than previous, and it's more happy with other file formats. I worked entirely in a PSD format and it never gave me an issue.

And on that note, my bed is calling me...

Yayness! Colored some stuff, but I'm waiting to hear back from the artist concerning it.

Sigh. I hate having to go to work when my brain is filled with art stuff to do. Such as my D&D group.

We've been gaming for almost two years now. Two freakin' years, same group, same characters, same players (only one hiatus). Jeebus. And I'm the one who runs the show - that's right, I'm the Dungeon Mistress. These group of characters have continued to inspire me to do strange and bizarre things to them. Inspired once person to chronicle the events that have happened, while I'm continually going over the last two years of my notes thinking, "This would make an awesome comic book." Some famous last words and interesting phrases (using character names to protect the innocent ):
Duuuuuude. - The rest of the party, usually after Tebryn comes up with a hare-brained scheme that has a slight possibility of working, if he makes really really good rolls. Such rolls have now been christened "Duuuuuude" rolls.
I feel left out. - Tebryn, after seeing his other party members get some kewl stuff. Yes, I made him regret this phrase.
What's she doing?
Fetching our doom. - Thaygen. Oh, yes. This one he still regrets. This one inspired by 8-Bit Theatre - Pardon me while I fetch your doom.
Have you seen my thunderlance? - Sharra. The player was inspired by Andromeda - Have you seen my force lance?
Bring it on, little girly man. - Thaygen.
It's not good for the natives, Boss. - Sharra, to Tebryn.
We can take 'em. - All of them, usually after presented with an impossible situation.

Ahhh....so so good to have vacation. Ran away for the weekend to the "big city" (yes, I know, it's a relative term) with just my man & me. We hit the homebrewer's supply store, and, of course, POWELLS BOOKS!!

Four (or so...) floors of nothing but books, books, BOOKS! I could have happily spent the entire weekend there. Damn those funds, though, they ran short - damn that! I shall have to go back with more fundages...

One of the books that I picked up was Anatomy for Fantasy Artists, by Glenn Fabry. (Glenn Fabry did a lot of the Preacher comic book covers, if you are not knowing who this guy is.) This is not a A to Z course on anatomy - this is how to utilize the human anatomy to emphasize certain archetypes in fantasy artwork & literature. One of the fascinating things is that each "archetype" section is given a "spec" and Fabry shows his interpretation of it, but also shows other artists' interpretations as well. I highly recommend it!

Cameras and the Like
I have finally gotten myself a digital camera. I've been somewhat of a photophobe, which is odd since me mudder is a really fantastic photographer and artist, but mostly because my hands shake too much and I take horribly blurry photos. But, with the advent of newer, better cameras, they've seem to have come up with a cure my photo woes.

I'll probably be running around with my camera at lunch next week, clicking away gleefully at anyone and anything that might happen into my field of view. Hah-haaaah!!!

And in case anyone's curious, it's an Olympus D545 Zoom camera.

Dual Monitors
In other news, it's nice to have dual monitors back again. I never realized how much I missed it until I got it back...much giddiness!! Windows XP didn't support the second video card I was using in Win98SE, so it was a long and lonely wait until I could purchase a new video card. A new video card, which, conveniently enough, has dual display capabilities. ATI Radeon X700 Pro. Sweeeeeeeet.

It had been FIVE YEARS since I purchased my last video card, which was top-o-the-line when I got it. After struggling through Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 and Sid Meier's Pirates, I came to the sad conclusion that my video card had done its duty long and hard. I mourned it appropriately...then gave it to my less fortunate friend who hadn't been able to upgrade his computer in a while.

This is an INSANELY addictive "constructible" card game. Go to this website if you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about.
